What is Traffic Jam?
A Situation in which a long
line of vehicles on a road have
stopped moving or are moving
very slowly.
2
Dhaka City and Traffic Jam
Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh and 8th largest city in the world.
Population : More than 1.5 core people
Dhaka is also one of the world's most densely populated cites.
This city is facing a severe traffic problem due to rapid growth of city
population and inadequate transportation infrastructure.
3
Current Situation
In this mega city, people on an average spend 2.20 hours in
the traffic of which 1.15 hours are due to traffic jam. It means
they are losing 1.15 hours everyday due to traffic jam.
This year, Dhaka's daily lost working hours on roads
exceeded eight million, a sharp rise from five million in 2017.
4

Impacts on Public health
7
Other Impact
Traffic congestion causes a 6 to 10 percent yearly GDP loss, affecting
productivity and people's well-being.
long traffic jams increase health risks, causing mental and physical issues
for commuters.
 It harms both human health and worsens environmental pollution, a
significant concern for the country.
Stressful driving conditions result in accidents, affecting passengers and
putting car drivers at risk.
Media reports highlight cases where heavy traffic delays access to
hospitals, leading to unfortunate deaths of patients in urgent need of care.
8
Reasons
9
There are a lot of reason of traffic Jam in Bangladesh
Operation of unusable and unfit transport
Unskilled drivers.
Poor and narrow roads.
Inadequate traffic systems.
Unregulated growth of Private vehicles.
Lack of Awareness
10
Solutions
???
11
The Government can consider
Construct roads for east-west connectivity in Dhaka
city.
Build a circular embankment-cum-road along the
periphery of Dhaka city.
Implement a grade-separated road network system.
Introduce a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
Develop a Metro-Rail system.
12
Our Opinion
13
Adhering Traffic Rules - Responsibility of
every citizen, Not Only Government
14
What can we do to reduce
Traffic problems?
15
Let’s think together
Use Public
Transportation
Option for buses, trains, or
other forms of public
transport to reduce the
number of individual vehicles
on the road.
16
Car Pooling
Share rides with others, especially colleagues or neighbors traveling in
the same direction, to decrease the overall number of vehicles.
17
Little More Conscious- Educate Others
Raise awareness in the community about responsible and considerate
driving behaviors.
18
Alternative
Transportation
Consider walking, cycling, or
using non-motorized means
for short distances.
19
Traffic Updates
Stay informed about traffic conditions
through apps or websites to choose less
congested routes.
20
Conclusion
21
Finally, we can say,
Traffic jams are a big problem and cause a lot of trouble. To fix this, we
can:
Use more buses and trains
Use smart technology to control traffic
Try different ways of getting around It's important for the
government and people to work together.
Planning cities carefully and using smart solutions together can make
it easier to move around and reduce traffic jams.
