2. Born in January 1964, in Hartford, Connecticut where
he spent his childhood there.
Obtained a degree in University of Colorado
Chosen for executive director for Microsoft.
3. He was a world re-owned social entrepreneur.
Made great connections between Microsoft and his
non-profit group to reduce the rate of illiteracy.
Made a trip to Nepal to donate books for those people
living in high-altitude mountains.
4. Before leaving Microsoft, in 1998 he took handful of
books and donated the 450 students in Nepal , but
there are not enough books and headmaster said
“Perhaps, sir, you will someday come back with books,“
which inspired him greatly. John came back one year
later with 3000 books for the school, and had a
decision for leaving Microsoft.
After he left Microsoft he publish a book.
5. He was officially the co-founder of Room to Read
Currently impacted people all over the world especially
Bangladesh, India and Vietnam.
As the co-founder of Room to read, he rose the poor
countries literacy rate and encourage girls to enter
secondary schools
In 2012, Room to Read has established 16000 schools,
13500 libraries, distributed 11 million books and
publish 707 books benefiting 6 million children to
read.
