7. Origin and Founder
Bharti Enterprises is an Indian business conglomerate headquartered in New Delhi,
India. It was founded in 1976 by Sunil Bharti Mittal and it operates in 18 countries
across Asia and Africa. Bharti Enterprises owns businesses spanning across
telecommunications, agricultural business, financial services and manufacturing.
The company was founded by Sunil Bharti Mittal with his two siblings in 1976.
The company started with manufacturing bicycles before diversifying into other
sectors. It entered into telecommunications industry in 1995.
8. History
A first generation entrepreneur, Sunil started his first business in April 1976[11] at
the age of 18, with a capital investment of ₹20,000 (US$300) borrowed from his
father. His first business was to make crankshafts for local bicycle manufacturers.
In 1980, he along with his brothers Rakesh and Rajan started an Import Enterprise
named Bharti Overseas Trading Company.[9] He sold his bicycle parts and yarn
factories and moved to Mumbai.[12] In 1981, he purchased importing licenses
from exporting companies in Punjab.[11] He then imported thousands of Suzuki
Motors’ portable electric-power generators from Japan. The importing of
generators was suddenly banned by the then Indian Government.
In 1984, he started assembling push-button phones in India, which he earlier used
to import from a Taiwan company, Kingtel, replacing the old fashioned, bulky
rotary phones that were in use in the country then. Bharti Telecom Limited (BTL)
was incorporated and entered into a technical tie up with Siemens AG of Germany
for manufacture of electronic push button phones. By the early 1990s, Sunil was
making fax machines, cordless phones and other telecom gear. Sunil says, "In
1983, the government imposed a ban on the import of gensets. I was out of
business overnight. Everything I was doing came to a screeching halt. I was in
trouble. The question then was: what should I do next? Then, opportunity came
calling. While in Taiwan, I noticed the popularity of the push-button phone --
something which India hadn't seen then. We were still using those rotary dials with
no speed dials or redials. I sensed my chance and embraced the telecom business. I
started marketing telephones, answering/fax machines under the brand name
Beetel and the company picked up really fast." He named his first push-button
phones as 'Mitbrau'.
In 1992, he successfully bid for one of the four mobile phone network licenses
auctioned in India.
9. One of the conditions for the Delhi cellular license was that the bidder have some
experience as a telecom operator. So, Mittal clinched a deal with the French
telecom group Vivendi. He was one of the first Indian entrepreneurs to identify the
mobile telecom business as a major growth area. His plans were finally approved
by the Government in 1994 and he launched services in Delhi in 1995, when Bharti
Cellular Limited (BCL) was formed to offer cellular services under the brand name
AirTel. Within a few years Bharti became the first telecom company to cross the 2-
million mobile subscriber mark. Bharti also brought down the STD/ISD cellular
rates in India under brand name 'Indiaone'.
In May 2008, it emerged that Sunil Bharti Mittal was exploring the possibility of
buying the MTN Group, a South Africa-based telecommunications company with
coverage in 21 countries in Africa and the Middle East. The Financial Times
reported that Bharti was considering offering US$45 billion for a 100% stake in
MTN, which would be the largest overseas acquisition ever by an Indian firm.
However, both sides emphasize the tentative nature of the talks, while The
Economist magazine noted, "If anything, Bharti would be marrying up," as MTN
has more subscribers, higher revenues and broader geographic coverage. However,
the talks fell apart as MTN group tried to reverse the negotiations by making
Bharti almost a subsidiary of the new company. In May 2009, Bharti Airtel again
confirmed that it was in talks with MTN and the companies agreed to discuss the
potential transaction exclusively by 31 July 2009. Talks eventually ended without
agreement, some sources stating that this was due to opposition from the South
African government.
In June 2010, Bharti led by Mittal acquired the African business of Zain Telecom
for $10.7 billion making it the largest ever acquisition by an Indian telecom
firm.[15] In 2012, Bharti tied up with Wal-Mart, the US retail giant, to start a
number of retail stores across India.[16] In 2014, Bharti planned to acquire Loop
Mobile for INR 700 crores, but the deal was called off later.[17] His son Kavin
Bharti Mittal is the CEO and founder of hike Messenger.

Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal,

Bharti Foundation
13. At Bharti Enterprises, there is absolute belief in quality education being the most
important tool for social and economic development in India. Thus, Bharti
Foundation was set up in 2000 as the philanthropic wing of the Bharti Group of
Companies to bridge the existing education divide and make quality education
accessible to all underprivileged children across rural India. The Foundation aims
to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their
potential.
All educational programs initiated by Bharti Foundation involve close partnerships
with the government, policy makers, local communities and the general public.
These education programs aim to make to a difference in the lives of thousands of
underprivileged children and youth, allowing them to become employable citizens
of the future and contribute to the economic growth of the community.
Bharti Foundation implements education programs in primary and higher
education to help both holistic and academic development of underprivileged
children and youth across the rural pockets of India. The primary school program
is designed to teach students to explore, question, reason and communicate
effectively. This helps them connect with their own community and stay rooted to
their local culture. The senior school program will train students in vocational
skills to help them emerge as employable citizens and contribute to community
development.
In recent years the Foundation has also initiated ‘Satya Bharti Abhiyan’, to
improve sanitation facilities in rural Ludhiana and ‘Nyaya Bharti’ to provide legal
and financial assistance to deserving underprivileged under trials languishing in
jails across the country for minor offences.
‘Satya Bharti Abhiyan’
On 18th August 2014, Bharti Foundation launched the Satya Bharti Abhiyan, an
initiative to improve sanitation facilities with rural Ludhiana as a focus area. The
14. Foundation has committed an investment of up to INR 100 Crores to be utilized
over the next three years for the construction of individual toilets across more than
900 villages, in households lacking such facilities. In addition, these funds have
also been invested in improving sanitation facilities in the Government schools of
rural Ludhiana by building toilets for girls, where no such amenities exist. The
program on the targeted scale will benefit over 1, 00,000 individuals.
‘Nyaya Bharti’
Nyaya Bharti was launched in November 2015 to help deserving and
underprivileged under trials languishing in jails across the country for minor
offences by assisting them with legal and financial assistance and also promoting
awareness about every individual’s constitutional right to legal defense. It is a first
of its kind national level corporate initiative in the country in line with the Hon’ble
Prime Minister’s Vision of ‘Sabka Nyaya’ – Access to Justice for all. Its Board
consists of eminent persons led by Justice A.S. Anand (Retired Chief Justice of
India) to provide oversight and guidance to the initiative and a panel of young
public spirited lawyers shall provide pro-bono service towards the initiative.

Being brave and unbounded in realizing our dreams.

Telecom czar Sunil Bharti Mittal has been elected as Chair of GSMA that represents
interests of mobile operators worldwide.
GSMA named 26-member board to serve for two years beginning January 2017 and
elected Mittal, founder and Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, as Chair and re-elected
Mari-Noelle Jego-Laveissiere, Executive Vice President, Innovation, Orange Group
as Deputy Chair.
As GSMA Chair, Mittal will oversee the strategic direction of the organization,
which represents nearly 800 of the world's mobile operators as well as more than
300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, a statement said.
"In a relatively brief period of time, mobile has had a transformational impact on
individuals, business and societies, contributing significantly to local economies and
improving the lives of billions around the world," he said.
Mittal, the first Indian to be elected as Chair of the GSMA, led a delegation of its
board members to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.
He said: "I am excited about what the next chapter holds for us, as we work to
connect everyone and everything to a better future. In my new global role, I am also
22. excited to support the ongoing mobile broadband revolution in India to boost the
government's Digital India program and its vision of broadband access for all."
He took over as Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) early
this year and also serves on the boards and councils of several reputed international
bodies and think-tanks like the World Economic Forum (WEF), Telecom Board of
International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Broadband Commission and
Harvard University's Global Advisory Council.
He is also a Trustee of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and on the
board of Qatar Foundation Endowment.
Bharti Airtel was the host of the inaugural GSMA Mobile 360 - India event in New
Delhi this week as well as a meeting of the GSMA board.
"In a broad-ranging discussion, the meeting (with the Prime Minister) highlighted
the pivotal role of mobile in delivering the government's Digital India vision of
broadband as a utility for every citizen, bringing digital and financial inclusion to
every corner of the country," the statement added.
The GSMA Board has 26 members, including 25 operator representatives from the
world's largest operator groups as well as smaller, independent operators with global
representation.
GSMA Chair Jon Fredrik Baksaas will step down from the board at the end of 2016
after holding this position for the past three years. Baksaas was elected as a member
of the GSMA board in 2008.
23. HR, Marketing, Finance and Safety Policy
The process is designed to offer protection to whoever discloses concerns
regarding unprofessional conduct to the Ombudsperson or, if the complainant
prefers, to any other person in the organization, provided the disclosure is made in
good faith and the alleged action or non-action constitutes a genuine and serious
breach of what is laid down in Bharti's code of conduct.
A complainant is not a 'trouble maker' or 'sneak' but a person who has come to the
decision to express a concern regarding possible unprofessional conduct, after a lot
of thought. The policy only requires that there be a genuine doubt - the person
making the complaint is not expected to produce unquestionable evidence in
support of the allegation. The Company has an obligation to ensure that a
complainant who makes a disclosure in good faith and without malice is protected,
regardless of whether or not the concern raised is ultimately found to be correct.
No action will be taken against the complainant when an allegation made in good
faith is not confirmed by subsequent investigation.
The Company affirms that it will not allow the person raising a concern to be
victimized for doing so. In the unfortunate event where the person would be
victimized, the Company will treat this as a serious matter and take disciplinary
action against the perpetrator. The Ombudsperson will not reveal evidence of
unprofessional conduct, and the Company will take disciplinary action if an
employee destroys or conceals any relevant evidence.
However, if an allegation is made or a concern is raised frivolously, maliciously or
for personal reasons, the Company may decide to take appropriate disciplinary or
legal action against the complainant.
24. Airtel is the world’s 3rd largest mobile telecommunication Indian MNC operating
in 20 countries across Asia & Africa. Airtel has presence in 22 telecom circles
across India & is India’s largest integrated telecom service provider.
Segmentation, targeting, positioning in the Marketing strategy of Airtel
Airtel uses mix of segmentation strategies to segment its offerings like basic Call
/SMS plans, prepaid / Post-paid plans, VAS – Data, caller tunes etc. Apart from
geographically segmenting the market in East, West, North, South & central, the
market is also segmented in each region on the basis of demographic variables like
age, Income, Social groups.
Different geographic regions are handled independently and different campaigns
are run according to the preferences of people in each region. Airtel has targeted
the generation Z of 15-25 ages, generation X & baby Boomers by using different
campaigns over the period of time i.e. campaign like “Har Ek friend Jaruri hota
hai”/ “Jo tera hai wo mera hai ” to target Gen Z and recently launched campaign of
“one touch internet” targeting Gen X & baby boomers.
Airtel has been successful in top-of-the-mind recall amongst cellular phone users
and is enjoying a leadership position in most markets. After changing its logo it has
repositioned itself as Young, Energetic & International brand. It has evolved itself
as a torch bearer of the telecom industry in India.
Competitive advantage in the Marketing strategy of Airtel – With the formation of
Indus tower & partnering with Idea & Vodafone for Indian Operations, Airtel has
extended its infrastructure in the extreme parts of the country for nationwide
penetration, creating competitive edge over other players in terms of low
operational cost, better network connectivity, coverage, low call drops & better
customer service.
Airtel developed a sustainable advantage through its excellent network of telecom
towers. In many locations, newer entrants found it cheaper to rent Airtel’s existing
25. infrastructure rather than setup new towers. Also spending extensively on
advertising & promotions helped it to become a market leader. Word of mouth is
one of the strongest forms of promotions & Airtel has completely leveraged that.
Airtel is always known for its innovation and some of its products were the
lifetime prepaid, Airtel live, Hello tunes, My Plans, M-check are pioneer strategies
& the list is never ending.
Distribution strategy in the Marketing strategy of Airtel – It has wide spread simple
and effective channel structure. Company uses 2-Tier & 3-tier distribution network
system.
Under 2-tier distribution network, company appoints UD (urban distributors) & RS
(Rural Suppliers). UD distribute the items to retailers according to the demand &
transfer easy balance to retailer through FOS (Field officer Sales) SIM who work
under UD’s.
Under 3-tier distribution RS (rural supers) distributes the items to RD (Rural
Distributors) & transfer easy balance into RD’s SIM, who then distribute it to
Retailers.
Apart from all these company also uses Airtel Relationship centers under
franchised model & company officials for corporate sales.
Brand equity in the Marketing strategy of Airtel – High TOMA (Top of mind
awareness), ARPU (average revenue per user), and extensive distribution system &
as high as 300+ million subscribers has helped Airtel in crafting market leader
position for itself over the years. Also Airtel has shifted from a technological brand
to a communication brand through its continuous evolving branding & marketing
efforts. It has rechristened its logo to make it more of international, young &
Energetic brand.
We are consistently fine-tuning our strategies and strengthening our innovative
core to anticipate and lead change in the global digital landscape.

29. Approach towards Environment
How our Mobile towers are reducing carbon footprint
In many places of India, especially in the rural areas, power supply is erratic.
Power goes off for as many as 12-18 hours in a day. As telecom industry go deeper
and wider to connect all parts of India, mobile becomes the only lifeline for people
and communities. An average mobile tower consumes 96 kW of power daily and
in areas of weak power supply, diesel consumption can average 24 liters per day.
In order to reduce dependency of diesel backup for towers, Bharti Infratel had
embarked on a drive to adopt cleaner technologies.
To start with, Bharti Infratel is leading the
way with solar energy. It is powering
mobile towers with solar photo voltaic
cells in remote rural India. The Solar
Photo Voltaic uses sunlight to generate
electricity thus eliminating dependency on
grid power and diesel. This is a standalone
system which can be installed on a tower
location. The installation process is easy and once installed the equipment needs
almost zero maintenance, keeping operating costs at a minimum. Its lifespan of 25
years provides the tower with a stable and permanent source of power, minus noise
pollution or toxic emissions. On an average, in stallion of solar photo voltaic cells
can lead to reduction of 18-20 tons of CO2 emission per tower every year.
30. Empowering Rural Gujarat
E-Gram is India’s largest rural connectivity drive. Under this project, Bharti Airtel
has connected 13,716 villages of Gujarat with the Common Service Centers
(CSCs) located in different parts of the state. It’s a comprehensive V-SAT-based
solution to provide last mile connectivity to the villages. The network carries high
quality and cost-effective video, voice and data services in the areas of agriculture,
e-governance, health, education, etc. The infrastructure also facilitates video
conferencing services, VOIP services and intra& Internet services thereby creating
a ‘virtual highway’ to these remote villages.
Thanks to this infrastructure, the Village
Panchayats have suddenly turned into
delivery points of services of the various
government departments. Distance has
suddenly vanished for residents in the
remote villages in the state. Some of these
villages are located in the tough terrains of
Rann of Kutch prone to flood and other calamities and close to the Indo-Pak
border.
While breaking the Digital Divide, the e-gram project has brought to the fore the
five Es in governance –ease, economy, efficiency, effectiveness and ethics. Today,
villagers are accessing government services efficiently, economically and with
ease. E-Gram also appears to have introduced some transparency into government
administration, instilling a rare sense of confidence among the users. The five Es
have ushered in remarkable wave of empowerment in the remote villages. Lives
for these villagers have clearly changed for the better.
31. CSR and its Implementation
32. On 18th August 2014, Bharti Foundation launched the Satya Bharti Abhiyan, an
initiative to improve sanitation facilities with rural Ludhiana as a focus area. The
Foundation has committed an investment of up to INR 100 Crores to be utilized
over the next three years for the construction of individual toilets across more than
900 villages, in households lacking such facilities.
The Satya Bharti School Program:
The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship rural education initiative of Bharti
Foundation aimed at holistic development of children. It is intended at delivering
free quality education to underprivileged children across rural pockets and lays
special emphasis on education for the girl child and children from marginalized
communities. Currently, 254 Satya Bharti Schools are operational across the states
of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu,
reaching out to over 42,000 underprivileged children through free quality
education.
One of the largest end-to-end rural education initiatives undertaken by a corporate
in India, the Satya Bharti School Program is a pilot being implemented through
33. self-learning and by incorporating best practices in the field of education from
other organizations and educational institutions.
The program aims to transform education-delivery through three key pillars of
intervention:
Age and class-appropriate learning levels and holistic development of
children
Teachers' motivation
Parent and community engagement
Measures and processes have been instituted around each intervention to ensure
effective implementation, quality and sustainability.
Goal:
Provide quality education to underprivileged children to develop them into
confident, employable and responsible citizens of tomorrow
Objectives:
Provide free quality education to underprivileged children, with a special
focus on girl child education, in the rural pockets of India
Transform students into educated, confident, responsible and self-reliant
employable citizens of the country with a deep sense of commitment to their
society
Encourage active involvement of the community, parents and like-minded
organizations
Make a lasting and sustainable impact on the community where schools are
present, inciting community education
34. Find innovative solutions, through its primary, elementary and senior
secondary schools, to create replicable and scalable components in the program to
facilitate delivery of quality education.
Models of Implementation:
A multi-pronged implementation strategy has been adopted by Bharti Foundation
to reach out to and impact maximum number of children in the rural pockets with
'quality education'.
Green Field Schools: Of the 254 operational Satya Bharti Schools, 200 primary
schools are Greenfield Schools built and run by Bharti Foundation on land either
donated or leased-out by the community.
Adopted Government Schools: 49 are adopted government schools in Rajasthan
which the Foundation manages and operates.
Public-Private Partnership Model: Five Government Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior
Secondary Schools are being run in partnership with the Punjab State Government
under the Public-Private Partnership Mode.
Reaching the Less Privileged through Quality Education:
The program seeks to work across rural pockets of India, providing free quality
education to millions of underprivileged children. Operating primarily in states
with discouraging male-female ratio, the program focuses on maximum enrolment
of girl children. Through an inbuilt strategy, the program attempts to overcome the
challenges that prevent girl children from coming to school. Specially designed
girl-child policy, separate toilet for girls, one female teacher in each shift and
special sensitization campaigns have been put in place to encourage parents to send
their daughters to school. It is the constant endeavor to educate the girl child
through the Satya Bharti School Program.
35. Contributing to the inclusive growth strategy of the country, the program caters to
the marginalized sections of students belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled
Tribes and Other Backward Communities as well as that of teachers belonging to
the weaker strata of society.
Delivering 'Quality Education' in Rural India
The Satya Bharti School Program has consciously been implemented in rural India
which faces ground challenges like lack of quality teachers, poor infrastructure,
first generation learners, low learning levels and vast geography. The curriculum
has been designed keeping in mind the varying learning levels of children, helping
them adapt to child-friendly teaching-learning processes. By setting up schools in
such conditions, the program has provided a model with components of quality
education that can be replicated on a large scale by other likeminded organizations
working in the field of education.

55. Outlook
Founded in 1976, by Sunil Bharti Mittal, Bharti has grown from being a
manufacturer of bicycle parts to one of the largest and most respected business
groups in India. With its entrepreneurial spirit and passion to undertake business
projects that are transformational in nature, Bharti has created world-class
businesses in telecom, insurance, retail, and foods.
Bharti started its telecom services business by launching mobile services in Delhi
(India) in 1995. Since then there has been no looking back and Bharti Airtel, the
group's flagship company, has emerged as one of the top telecom companies in the
world and is amongst the top three wireless operators in the world.
Through its global telecom operations Bharti group operates under the 'Airtel'
brand in 18 countries across Asia and Africa– India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh,
Seychelles, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon,
Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda,
and Zambia. In addition, the group also has mobile operations in Jersey and
Guernsey.
Over the past few years, Bharti has diversified into emerging business areas in the
fast expanding Indian economy. The group has forayed into the retail sector by
opening retail stores – small and medium formats. The group offers – life
insurance and general insurance to customers across India. Bharti also serves
customers through its fresh and processed foods business. The group has growing
interests in other areas such as mobile internet, real estate, training and capacity
building, and distribution of telecom / IT products.
What sets Bharti apart from the rest is its ability to forge strong partnerships. Over
the years some of biggest names in international business have partnered Bharti.
56. Currently, SingTel, Qatar Foundation Endowment, IBM, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens
and Alcatel-Lucent are key partners in telecom. AXA Group is the partner for the
insurance business and Del Monte Pacific for the processed foods division.
Bharti strongly believes in giving back to the society and through its philanthropic
arm the Bharti Foundation it is reaching out to over 50,000 underprivileged
children and youth in India.
57. Succession Planning
It seems that the succession plan at Bharti Group has started playing out with
Bharti Group's chairman Sunil Mittal inducting his son Shravin Bharti Mittal as
manager with Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV (BAIN). The company
runs the international telecom operations of Bharti Airtel. This special purpose
vehicle was floated by the company earlier this year when it acquired the African
operations of Kuwaiti telecom firm Zain.
"He (Shravin) will assist BAIN's management in integration of Zain Africa with
the company (Bharti Airtel) and such other assignment as may be assigned by the
employer company from time to time," Bharti Airtel said, adding that he may be
elevated to the Board or equivalent position either in BAIN or any of the
companies in which he's an employee.
The development is significant since Mittal is a first generation entrepreneur who
had built the telecom business. His two brothers, Rakesh and Rajan Mittal, are part
of the Bharti group managing different responsibilities.
Shravin will get a remuneration of 50,000 euros per annum. Prior to joining Bharti
Airtel, Shravin, who holds BSc degree in accounting and finance from the
University of Bath (UK), was working with JP Morgan Cazenove in London as an
analyst in technology, media and telecommunications division of investment
banking unit. He was a member of pitch and execution teams advising on M&A
and restructuring transactions. He also performed valuation analysis, research and
strategic evaluations for IPO and M&A.
He has worked with Merrill Lynch, New York, and Ernst &Young, London,
besides internships at IMG and Deutsche Bank. Incidentally, the shareholders'
approval for Shravin Mittal's appointment came on September 1, the same day
when Wipro promoted Chairman Azim Premji's son Rishad as chief strategy
officer.
There’s a new chief executive officer at Bharti Airtel Ltd, the second in its history,
and there are mutterings in some sections as to whether this is a leg-up for the new
man in the post—Sanjay Kapoor; and it most definitely is—or a sort of let-down
58. for the previous occupant of that position, Manoj Kohli (he is to now head
international operations; and this writer really doesn’t know the answer to this).
I have known Kohli for a long time—since his time as HR head of US
conglomerate Allied Signal in the mid-1990s to be precise—and he is a sound
operations man, which could be one reason why Bharti chief Sunil Mittal picked
him. Bharti had around three million subscribers then and I remember that Kohli’s
choice was a surprise but then, Mittal has always known what he is doing.
Even then, Mittal would talk of institutionalizing management at Bharti Tele-
Ventures, as the company was then called. We must build a team that can manage
a telecom company that has 25 million subscribers, he told me once. The company
had around 10-12 million subscribers then; it has 116 million (in India) today.
Kohli, clearly, had been hired for that purpose, a selection that showed the use of
more science than Mittal had used when he identified someone to head the group’s
entry into the mobile telephony business in the early 1990s. Bharti had initially
won a license for Mumbai, not Delhi, and I remember Mittal telling me once that
he selected N. Arjun—another of those fine managers who always seem to be
around in the Bharti stable—because he was the only bachelor in the senior team
and could move to Mumbai. That, though, remained a false start; and when India
eventually became a “mobile” market, Bharti ended up with a license to operate in
Delhi.
It could probably be similar logic about finding the right man for the job at the
right time that has driven Mittal’s decision to have Kapoor head the local
operations of Bharti Airtel and Kohli head the growing overseas operations. I last
met Kohli last week— ahead of the announcement —and while he didn’t tell me
what was in store, he did speak passionately about Bharti doing in Sri Lanka and
Bangladesh what it has done so well in India.
Mittal once told me that he saw Bharti as a once-in-a-generation kind of company.
In the 1980s, it was Reliance Industries Ltd, he said. In the 1990s, it was Infosys
Technologies Ltd. In the 2000s, it would be Bharti. In some ways, he may have
actually outdone both those companies. For instance, Infosys continues to be
headed by a succession of the company’s promoters (not to say that they don’t
deserve to do that). Mittal’s own succession planning efforts in Bharti present a
contrast.
