Intelligence Collection Plan
Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to establish an intelligence collection plan which will be used by North Korea during a 15 day "non–lethal
show of force" exercise against the United States. Developing a collection plan from the North Korean's point of view will present a few challenges as
the North Koreans likely believe their intelligence capabilities are second to none; and far superior than either the United States or the South can ever
imagine.
In this scenario, the collection plan will be laid out with that perception. The information provided will be factual, but with a twist to potentially
represent how this plan would be presented to Kim Jung Un leading up to the exercise. From here forward, we will see the scenario from this point of
view. North Korea will amass troops and artillery along the entire distance of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in an attempt to show the Western Devil
United States that we will invade and destroy South Korea; in the name of The Great Leader, if the United States does not lift economic sanctions and
embargos placed on North Korea.

The Impact Of The Korean War On The Cold War
The Korean War begun on the arrival of the North Korean Army troops consisted of 750.000 soldiers at the 38th parallel– the imaginary boundary
between South Korea– on une 25, 1950 (History.com Staff,2009). According to (PBS, N.D.), Korean War was the first war to provide the
confrontation of nuclear powers and the war also showed how hard was the difficulty of both sides to create the right decision on when to attack using
the bomb at the right time. Although it might seemed to be difficult, the attacks from Soviet Union and China on behalf of North Korea was hard to
repel so that United Nation was asked to help South Korea repelled those attacks (PBS, n.d.). By the end of the brutal war that lasted 60 years there

The impacts are not only affected one aspect but it affected few aspects including Japanese economy, and Cultural and social life. Japan economy has
once experienced the sudden raise as the Tokyo stock market has boomed during the Korea civil war (Dingman, p 14, 1993). The other impact that
Japan feel is The Korean War kept Japan internationalized as many Americans stayed in Japan and made an open and good relationship with the
strangers. This relationship was not only let Japan enriched their popular culture, it was also chance to promote their culture and economy to the
international world (Dingman, p 28,

Causes Of The Korean War
Intro
The Korean war left 2.5 million people dead more than half of which civilians, nearly 10% of Korea's total population. With the war officially
starting in June of 1950 it took almost three years of North and South Korea battling until the armistice was signed in July of 1953. The ongoing cold
war between America and Russia can be linked to as to why the Korean conflict was originally initiated. Still to this day the border between North and
South Korea is a heated zone, there is little to no hope of a united Korea anytime soon.
Short term cause
American troops began to leave South Korea around mid–1949 with Dean Acheson Releasing a speech in January 1950 stating that the US would no
longer commit their forces to mainland Asia. Acheson saying that their defensive perimeter ran through Japan and the Ryukyu but not the Republic of
Korea or the Republic of China, "The defensive perimeter runs along the Aleutians to Japan and then goes to the Ryukyus. We hold important defence
positions in the Ryukyu Islands, and those we will continue to hold". The recent withdrawal of American troops from South Korea gave Kim Il Sung
an opportunity to make a push towards South Korea Although; he could not do this alone, he would need the help of Stalin. After constant persuasion
from Kim, Stalin agreed to support Kim with his attack on South Korea, The recent development of Stalin's first atomic bomb in 1949 may have given
him confidence about the invasion.

The Korean Demilitarized Zone ( Dmz )
Introduction The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is known as the most militarized border on the globe separating the Republic of Korea and the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea and North Korea respectively. The DMZ prevents military action from both sides
in agreement with the Korean Armistice Agreement until peace is declared. Actually, most people do not know that the Korean peninsula is still in a
state of war and that there is only a ceasefire between the North and South – proving the existence of a very tense relationship. The Republic of Korea
and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have very different political ideologies governing their nation–states. The South is an open democratic,
free–market society, whereas the North is a closed communist, isolationist society. Both involve themselves, to a certain extent, in the international
community and are both members of the United Nations, albeit with various disputes regarding accusations against the North concerning crimes
against humanity. There also exists the importance of inter–Korean relations with both sides sharing the goal to create a closer relationship between the
two. A puzzling feat for scholars to comprehend is why these two countries, still at war, have this kind of common goal and it is due to their desire to
reunify. Despite the devastations of the Korean War, the present distrust, attacks, and differing ideologies, a deep connection remains between the

The Two Koreas: War or Peace?
On a bright, summer morning on the Yellow Sea in 1999, two eruptive nations clashed once again, one of many stirring incidents that have happened
between the sensitive time–bombs after their famous war. Bullets whizzed past the North and South Korean sailors, and volley of cannon fires caused
shattering damage and destructive chaos which went on for ten minutes. This ruthless shootout resulted in heavy casualties on both sides and a sunken
vessel; caused by this unstable "battle", whether the two countries will coexist in a stale mate any further remains a mystery. United States and
bordering countries fear of a fully engaged nuclear war, but despite the worries, both Koreas have shown attempts of peaceful negotiations by sending
officials... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, after stalling for two more years, the armistice was signed on July 27, 1953, which drew a new boundary near the 38th parallel giving South
Korea extra 1500 squared mile and creating a 2–mile wide demilitarized zone that still exists today. The relatively short but exceptionally brutal war
came to an end, and resulted in 5 million lives dead, over half of them civilians.
The war that ended six decades ago still split the two nations that were one in the past. Representatives from all parts of the world continue their debate
on the fate of the two Koreas, and, proved by the incidents that follow the aforementioned war, a change is imminent, whether it may be a second
Korean War or a movement for peace and unification. However, small clashes and shootouts do keep the tension between them high, and the world
waits nervously for a spark to initiate the change.
Both war and peace can become the outcome as stated by Kevin Sullivan, who addresses the incident at the Yellow Sea. Whether the conflict was an
unexpected miscalculation or a premeditated military act, it was a clear example of the high tension between the sensitive countries. According to the
author, some officials saw this clash as a "reckless military provocation" designed to push the two Koreas to 'the brink of war." The officials argued
that tension between the countries was at its highest level, and that war would be inevitable.
However, more optimistic views

North Korean Political Policies On North Korea
Introduction
Beginning in the early 1940's, Korea has been a split nation; the great divide that happened in initially in 1945 was just the beginning of what would
become one of the world's most infamous splits of a country. Radically different in political regime and agenda, these countries provide for a very
complex case study of border conflict. Due to its extremely repressive regime, North Korea stands as one of the worst places to call home in the world,
while South Korea is incredibly more liberal. Despite the inescapable amounts of propaganda imposed on the citizens of North Korea, the current
generations of North Koreans hold ties to South Korea through separated family, making South Korea a very attractive but forbidden land. While South
Korea continues to center its foreign policy on loosening the strict rule of the North Korean government, North Korea remains stubborn and the
struggle remains in tow with the stark differentiation between ideologies politically, militarily, and culturally.
History of Korea
In the mid 10th century, the Silla regime was overtaken by the Goryea regime in what is today Korea when it was one land, and one people. The
name "Korea" was directly derived from the pronunciation of the Goryea. (Shelley, 500). The first separation of the territory of Korea came after World
War II ended, and the Soviets occupied the Northern portion of Korea, while the Americans occupied the Southern portion. This separation was never
actually intended to

Contrast and Impact of War in North and South Korea
It's hard to image countries struggling to find peace but sometimes this peace is much more than just agreeing. North and South Korea have had a feud
for decades more than expected. Now the demilitarized zone, watchtowers, razor wire, land mines divides North and South Korea, tank traps, and
extremely heavy weaponry secure the DMZ. North Korea is faced with a tough challenge as being ranked 178th rated country in the world, where as
the south is ranked 31st and is more self– sufficient. With the cold war in the hand of the country's leader the civilian's lives is dependent on the next
move. As peace begins to settle a treaty has still not been signed since the North and South cannot agree on the control of power.
The start of the Korean War began on June 25,1950 (history) The Americans fought in the Korean War on behalf of South Koreans. Some assumed it
as the "War against the forces of international communism" (history). At the beginning of this war seemed that the north and South Koreans crossed
over the 38th parallel repeatedly. As casualties became more common and the Americans had been spotted fighting for the South many feared that
China, and Europe would help the North and World War 3 would arise leaving no hope for the Koreas to ever find peace. The Cold war started
around 1945 when the USSR took over North Korean and the United States took over the South. These two were allies in World War 2. After World
War 2 it was told that these two where to be firm and

Canadian Peacekeeping
"From the outset of the war, the Canadian people have clearly shown that it is their desire to help in every way to make Canada's war effort as
effective as possible" – William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada during World War II (Collections Canada, 2001). Currently, many in
the 21st century consider Canada as a very peaceful, social, and overall accommodating country. Canada does many things for its people such as taking
in many refugees, helping university level students with loans, and giving immigrants affordable housing. Canada also helps protect other countries
military wise, especially the people in certain countries who are found in situations like war. Canada tries to create peace with these countries or tries

During this conflict, Canada helped defend South Korean forces from the Soviet backed North Korea. Canada did many things in this conflict, one of
the most important was that Canada helped secure Seoul, and in the process pushed back soviet forces towards the North Korean Border. As a
peacekeeping country apart of the U.N (United Nations) peacekeeping force, an estimated "26,791 Canadian military personnel served in the Korean
War, during both the combat phase and as peacekeepers afterward. The last Canadian soldiers left Korea in 1957" (Herd, 2007). Not only did Canada aid
South Korea in combat, but Canada also aided South Korea in the peacekeeping phase after the conflict. Canada completed their mission as both
countries agreed for an armistice, and to stop the fighting. According to author, D'Arcy Jenish, "Both sides abandoned any attempt to take
territory when North and South agreed in July, 1951, to start peace talks. But there was no ceasefire. Instead, as the negotiations dragged on for
two years, the war became a stalemate" (2000). Even after the conflict, some Canadians decided to stay back and serve in Korea, and many of
these troops "guarded and patrolled the ROK's (Republic of Korea) side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which continues to separate the two
Koreas" (Korean War, 2003). All Canadian armed forces personnel who served in Korea from 1950 to 1957 are considered Korean War veterans"
(Herd, 2007). It is clearly seen through the countless contributions and help Canada provided, that Canada was a peacekeeper during this

The Physical Environment of the Korean Peninsula
Korea, located on the Korean Peninsula in North–East Asia, consists of two separate states – North Korea and South Korea. What makes it a peninsula
is the fact that it has the Yellow Sea on its western coast, the East China Sea on it southern coast, and the Sea of Japan on its eastern coast. Its
neighbors, and only land access, are China to the northwest and Russia to the northeast. Occupying a land mass of over 84,000 square miles, Korea has
a mixture of plains, mountains, and coastlines. The combination of such varied geography provides many elements to consider when analyzing Korea's
physical environment. This essay will seek to provide a general understanding of the geography, climatology, and biogeography of the components that

Summer, characterized by its heavy rainfall, runs from July to mid–September. Average temperatures fall between the 70s and mid–80s. Because of the
amount of humidity, fog tends to be prevalent most summer days, with the coastal line suffering the heavy doses. July and August see the most rainfall,
with an average of 15 inches per month. Weather hazards continue in the form of thunderstorms and the occasional monsoon.
Autumn, which falls between September and November, has average temperatures ranging from the 50s to the 60s. Clear skies and less rain make for
better visibility during the fall. No major hazards exist during this season.
Looking at the weather from a military perspective, it is easy to conclude that rotary wing assets will confront problems with low visibility coupled with
heavy precipitation. The low temperatures combined with the high altitudes can make ground movement challenging during the winter months. The
quick transition from summer to winter can also cause acclimatization issues to ground troops new to the area.
Biogeography
Korea is facing a crisis with its forests since most have disappeared due to human structures and agricultural fields. Among the few forests that exist,
there is the Southern Korea Evergreen Forest that occupies the southernmost portion of the peninsula. Toward the center of Korea, in the more
moderate area, is the Central Korea Deciduous Forest. In the northern part of

Government Structure And Political Environment
Government Structure and Political Environment
South Korea is officially called the "Republic of Korea" and has been separated from North Korea since 1953. North and South Korea are divided by
a demilitarized zone and there is still much unrest between the two nations. Seoul is the capital of South Korea and is the largest in terms of population
with over 10 million people living within the city limits. The metro area of Seoul is even larger with over 24 million people living there. The metro
area of Seoul is approximated to be the second largest in the world behind Tokyo and ahead of Mexico City and New York City. An expatriate would
likely be sent to live and conduct business in Seoul because it is the population and economic center of the South Korea.
The government structure is very similar to the United States which should be an aspect a US expatriate will be comfortable with. There is a
legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The legislative branch is responsible for making the laws, the executive branch is responsible for
interpreting the laws, and the executive branch is headed by the president of South Korea Lee Myung–bak. The president is elected by popular vote for
a five year term and may not run for another term. The country is divided into administrative districts for governing. There are 9 provinces, 7
metropolitan cities and one "special city" which is Seoul. Knowing what governing district an expatriate is in and understanding any potential special

Armistice Between North And South Korea
While talks of a cease–fire had been ongoing for two years, an armistice agreement was reach in July of 1953. It was not easy getting to this
agreement. The main point of contention was the repatriate of prisoners of war. This was an issue because many of the prisoners captured by UN and
South Korean forces did not want to return to North Korea. This was absolutely not acceptable by China and North Korea. Finally the two sides came
to an agreement. With U.S. Army Lieutenant General William Harrison, Jr. representing the United Nations Command, and North Korean General
Nam Il representing the Korean People 's Army, and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, they signed the Korean Armistice Agreement on July 27th
of 1953. The armistice was designed to "Insure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful
settlement is achieved." It is well known that this is not this case today. Officially, there is still an ongoing war between North andSouth Korea. The
peaceful settlement was supposed to be the topic at an international conference the following summer, but it just got pushed aside and here we are
today, still no official peace agreement. Additionally, the armistice set up the official demilitarized zone (DMZ), placed a cease
–fire, and repatriated
prisoners of war. The demilitarized zone is 160 miles long spanning the width of the peninsula, and it is 2.5 miles wide. Moreover, it is the most

The Intelligence and National Security Architecture of the...
This essay will detail the intelligence and national security architecture of the Republic of Korea (ROK – South Korea). It will discuss how the current
structures were developed and the effectiveness the ROK services and agencies, and thirdly it will look at key events that have led to reforms and
restructuring of the system, and if those changes have produced better outcomes.
In 1905 Korea became a protectorate of Imperial Japan following the Russo–Japanese war and in 1910 Japan annexed Korea as a colony. After the
Japanese surrender to United States and allied forces in 1945 following the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Korea regained its

Security and intelligence capabilities of the ROK consist of both civilian and military services. Agencies that come under the military command
structure of the over–arching Ministry of National Security include the Coast Guard (including the former Civilian Marine Police Force), Defense
Security Command (DSC) with its several subsidiary agencies, and the Homeland Defence Forces (Regional Combat Forces).
Civilian services include the Korean National Police agency (KNP), the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (formerly known as the Ministry of the
Interior) and the National Intelligence Service (NIS), (formerly the National Information Agency (NIA), formerly the Agency for National Security
Planning (ANSP), formerly the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA). Also included in the civilian services is the Presidential Security Service.

Since the end of the Korean War, North Korea has unceasingly threatened the United States and their interests during modern times in reference to the
Contemporary Operational Environment (COE) considerations and variables.
Contemporary Operational Environment Variables
Political Variable The current government that North Korea has in place in its country is a communist state. Communism can be defined as
advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities
and needs. North Korea's major political party is the Korean Workers' Party (KWP) and has been governed by the Kim dynasty since 1946. North
Korea also has minor parties such as the Chondoist Chongu Party and the Social Democratic Party (Both run by the KWP). All political parties are
controlled by the "Supreme Leader" and appoints members to political positions as needed. The people of North Korea refer to whoever is leading the
government as "Supreme Leader." Currently, North Korea's "Supreme Leader" is Kim Jong Un and he was elected, unopposed, in December 17, 2011.
The biggest concern with North Korea's government is that they do not possess any diplomatic representation in the United States, nor does it posses
any diplomatic representation from the United States.

Effects Of Plastic Surgery In South Korea
"As long as I can remember, I've wanted to be someone else," (Swanson 1).
South Korea, known as the world's capital of plastic surgery, is highly–image conscious. It is known that even scoring a job sometimes depends on how
attractive you are. South Korea's major aspects on plastic surgery include how it became so popular, the impact of America's beauty standards on
Koreas, and the reason as to why plastic surgery is so looked upon by both women and men of all ages. Plastic surgery holds a great extent of meaning
to the people of South Korea.
In 1953, after the Korean War, South Korea was one of the world's poorest nations. "The average household earned less than one–hundred dollars a
year, so one can only imagine how poverty–stricken the country was," (The 1). At this time, the need to eat and survive came first, appearances,
second. The economy was finally boosted after the win of The 1988 Seoul Olympics. This is when Korea became what it is today, a "high–tech
industrialized economy," (Forbes 1). As people began to gain wealth, they soon were able to spend more money on health and beauty. This era
became to be known as the Korean plastic surgery boom. "The Korean plastic surgery boom is correlated with the rapid economic boom that produced
present day South Korea," (The 1).
As graduation gifts from their parents, High–school age kids would receive plastic surgery. "This could almost be seen as a ritual, before they head out

The Democratic People 's Republic Of North Korea
The Democratic People's Republic of North Korea is known for being secluded from the remainder of the world. Communism created the country that
North Korea is today as it was sponsored to become a country by another communist country. Nuclear weapons acquired by the country have caused
great tension between North Korea and the rest of the world. North Korea is one of the world's most secretive nations. The Democratic People's
Republic of North Korea is almost completely secluded from the outside world and is sometimes referred to as a Hermit Kingdom.
Communism is a political and economic system of ideas essentially based on joint ownership of property and a social structure without classes.
Individuals within the system perform work and earn a living based on their contributions and requirements. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
established this system of ideas during the last half of the nineteenth century; in 1844 Marx and Engels met and discovered that they shared similar
ideas principles. Four years later, 1848, Marx and Engels wrote The Communist Manifesto in Brussels, Belgium. The document, a twenty–three page
pamphlet, would be published in London, England, in late February that year. Seventy–four years later, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic became
the first communist state. After the founding of the Soviet Union, communism spread to many different countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, even North

Why I Want To Be A Radiography
Ever since I was a young child, I have been exposed to the medical sector be it through my own experiences at hospitals or through assisting at my
parents' dental practices. This has widened my eyes to the numerous ways that radiology and diagnostic imaging can be used throughout different
environments in the world.
This experience was crucial for me as I could understand the dynamics of the business and learned that not one staff member was more important than
the rest. For things to run in harmony than communication between all members of staff is vital. Even more so than in a hospital with the
collaboration of nurses, hospital staff, paramedics, doctors, physiotherapists, radiographers etc. It is only due to the combined effort that the patients
get the care that they need.
That is how my interest in radiography began. X–rays were routinely being used alongside other dental techniques. They are essential in diagnosing
problem areas and I was fascinated by them. I always looked forward to when I could help prep the patient and view the results. I was led by
curiosity and still am today, as to how one can diagnose so much just through various shades of gray such as changes in bone density. I always wanted
to learn about them and see what the medical professionals saw. I thought it entirely fascinating that they could see problems and issues in one ... Show

Since the end of the Korean War, the United States has enacted policies to isolate and undermine the Kim Dynasty in North Korea. A key
development took place in the past several decades where North Korea broke away from the Non–Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to develop their own
nuclear weapons and while lacking launch capabilities, they have been successful in their development. During this process, the United States took
active policies to deter the North Koreans in pursuit of their goals. It is easy to assume that the United States took this stance in order to maintain a
military edge in the region. But under closer examination, this neo–realist perspective does not explain why the United States pursued this policy. In
reality, North Korea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason the US did not take military action against North Korea was precisely because there do exist constraints, even presuming anarchy exists
in the first place. It is very clear that anarchy as such is not a structural cause of anything (Wendt, 1995). Anarchy is a social construct that is ever
evolving through changes in norms and identities. The reasons that the US was constrained did not result from anarchy. Rather, it resulted from a
changing international structure that affected the identity and interest of the US. This conflict began in a time of great upheaval in the world of
international relations. The USSR had collapsed a mere two years prior to North Korea announcing that it would withdraw from the NPT. This
created a sudden gap in what had been driving American foreign policy up until that point. Prior to the Soviet collapse, the US policy was simple. It
would use all military and diplomatic capabilities to stop the spread of communism throughout the world. The United States saw itself as the protector
of democracy and freedom throughout the world. Without the USSR, the US needed to construct a new foreign policy towards the rest of the world
and specifically towards North Korea. Whereas the US would have acted more aggressively if Soviets placed nuclear weapons in North Korea, they
were much more diplomatic in this instance. The difference is that North Korea was no

Reflection On Colors
I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one–fourth of my entire life. I believe that each of different colors can change someone's
life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It's me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth
Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations
I have experienced.
Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are
very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I
am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me.
When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides
Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to
school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain.
Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red ,
and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red
as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don't know what Purple describes because it can be anything.
Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don't go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word
confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of
colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That's how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often)
I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff,

Escape From The Cage
Just imagine, being in a world where everyone is controlled and taught to believe that there life is perfect. That is a reality for the citizens in North
Korea.. At a young age the children in North Korea are taught and controlled to believe that they way they live is perfect, but in reality we all know
that it is quite the opposite. Shannon L. Alder, a popular writer, perfectly described this by stating, "your perspective on life comes from the cage you
were held captive in" (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1391130.Shannon_L_Alder). Alder is an inspirational writer that wrote over 100
novels, two of her best being 300 Questions To Ask Your Parents and 300 Questions LDS Couples Should Ask Before Marriage. Her writings are
mainly focused around celebrating uniqueness and freeing oneself, so that they can live life to the fullest. This quote directly explains the life in North
Korea, and how helpless the North Korean population is to the dictatorship. This can be explained in three main reasons through the novel, The Girl
With Seven Names, and the short story, Total Control in North Korea. The first reason is how the government controls the whole population in North
Korea. Secondly, how this quote directly relates to North Korea through a perspective aspect of our perspective on North Korea versus the perspective
of a normal North Korean citizen. Finally, the third main

Obstacles Threatening the Existence of the Kaesong Industrial Complex
The Kaesong Industrial Complex is one of the only remind points of economic interaction between South Korea and North Korea. The KIC is also
referred as a park or complex. It was officially opened in December 2004. It is considered by many to be the only possible route for reestablishing
better political relations and reducing friction between both countries. Many scholars have argued that the KIC is the only way to improve the region's
stability and bring North Korea to open itself to the world. However, tensions between both countries have constantly arisen. Their hostilities originated

Sarah Yun, the author of Kaesong Industrial Complex: Is it Changing The DPRK?, describes the important infrastructure required, "the restoration of
road and rail links and economic assistance projected included aid... ventures in mining, agriculture, and tourism and textile production" (Yun). As Yun
expresses, all those components were agreed by both countries. Schattle, one of the authors of Pacific focus articles explicates that the KIC was a
concept in which "warming ties between the Koreas, was considered a test case for reunification. It join South Korean knowhow and technology with
inexpensive North Korean labor" (Schattle). However, infrastructure is an essential component so that those industries can transport effectively their
goods. The complex requires different manufacturing facilities to use heavy machinery and constant passage of carrying vehicles. The type of
infrastructure in KIC delays transportation of goods and commodities between both countries. The complex's logistics lack proper maneuvering of
goods from one place to another. The delays decrease production and South Korean companies begin to lose lucrative opportunities of profit. This at the
long run discourages new South Korean businessmen to come to the complex and invest.
As result, the South Korean government annually has to go through some extra financial burden to build "new roads, water treatment centers, housing,
hospitals, gasoline stations, fire departments, customs

The Challenges Of The Conflict Between North And South Korea
The fourth challenge to unite these two countries is their conflicts. This conflict is start from 1950 to1953. North Korea forces invaded South Korea
in 1950 because, at that time both government want to unite these two states (Wikipedia, List of border incidents involving North Korea, 2015). The
Korean War began as a civil war between North andSouth Korea, but the conflict soon became international when, under U.S leadership, the United
Nations joined to support South Korea and the People's Republic of China (PRC) entered to aid North Korea. The Korea war ends when a ceasefire
agreement is signed in July 1953 (Wikipedia, Ceasefire, 2015). Finally, North Korean leader King Li Sung decided to invade to South Korea. 2million
people died during in the war. The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMN) is created to separate the two countries. Indeed, they got cease fires agreement

Moreover, we may see the differences of North and South Korea about political system, their main supporters, their power problem, their economies
and they have a lot of conflicts. Last October Kim Jong UN visited to South Korea's unification minister in Seoul, but there was no improvement
between them (Tube, 2015), and we can see recent conflicts in August. That mean there has still tension between two nations. Another one is Kim
Jong UN may not open his power, as I mention above he does not want to share his power. We can see clearly he executive his only uncle and his
top adviser because those two men can make challenges to his powers. And, economic is another big reason that may not be unification. A reporter

Korea. So as long as they are competition each other, it will hard to get reunite between north and South

Korean Demilitarized Zone
The Vietnam and the Korean wars were stomach churning, because of how many people were killed, and how long it took for them to end these
harsh wars. The Korean War started On June 25, 1950. The Korean War began when 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People's Army (which
were communists) attacked across the 38th parallel. The Korean War was fought between North and South Korea; US forces had come to the help
the South Korean people. Gen. Douglas MacArthur was the leader of the US army, he got control of both the US and the South Korean army
because of how brave and smart he was. They moved to the north of the 38th parallel in an attempt to destroy, and conquer the North Korean side.
The Chinese troops were in support of the North Korean side. The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula

The Culture Of South Korea
The Culture of South Korea
Culture is a word that can have an array of meanings; according to"www.dictionary.com" the word culture has about twelve definitions. The definition
of the word culture that will be discussed in this essay is: "the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group", this
definition from the website "www.dictionary.com" involves the way people define themselves with the word. A captivating culture that is extremely
ancient and interesting is the South Korean culture; this culture is known to share some similarities with the North Korean culture, but after the
country split into a north and south region some of those customs changed.
According to the book called "Korea" by Sara De Capua (2005), the country of South Korea is at the end of the Korean peninsula on the continent of
Asia, and the highest part of North Korea is at the top of the Korean peninsula and its borders connect with China and Russia. (Capua, 2005). The
peninsula is halved by a long area called the Demilitarized Zone and contains a razor wired fence; this piece of land runs 2.5 miles wide and breaks
the Korean peninsula into a northern and southern part. (Capua, 2005).The border between the North and the South is heavily guarded all the time to
make sure that no one people are not crossing back and forth as they please.

Nowadays, in international relations, there are many norms and sets of rules set by the major global power. Some rules are followed, and some are
not likely to be followed by states across the globe. Typically, rules such as the Treaty on the Non
–Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons are contested by a
number of states. For instance, this particular treaty aims to reduce the further spread of nuclear weapons and to maintain peaceful cooperation
between countries who currently possess nuclear weapons. In fact, several states do not comply with this treaty and numerous other rules. This list of
countries includes North Korea, South Sudan, Israel and some other states. Therefore, in this paper, I aim to examine under what degree these states
decide not to comply with global norms particularly, the nuclear weapons treaty. Furthermore, I also seek an answer to under what condition the North
Korea pursues nuclear power and focuses extensively on their military strength. I will use the Realism, Constructivism, and finally Individualism
theories to explain this argument. These three international relations theories will provide three different perspectives which will certainly explain why
North Korean military spending over–performs their GDP and what objectives they hope to achieve as a result of this action. Moreover, I will also

The Korean War : The Forgotten War
The Korean War, also known as the "Forgotten War" began on June 25, 1950. On that day, about 75,000 soldiers from North Korean, with the help and
advice from the Soviet Union, cross the 38th parallel. The 38th parallel is "the boundary between the Soviet–backed Democratic People's Republic of
Korea to the north and the pro–Western Republic of Korea to the south" (History.com). Within three days, the North Korean People's Army was able to
capture Seoul, the capital of South Korea. This invasion marked the beginning of the Cold War. Fearing the spread of Communism, the United Nations
and United States agreed to send troops to South Korea, and on the 1st of July 1950, American troops arrived to South Korea to help the democratic
South Korean to fight against the North Korean communist invasion. The Americans goal was to prevent the spread of Communism.
The People's Republic of China, led by Mao Ze Dong, also became involved to North Korean's aid. After millions of combat casualties on both side, the
Panmunjom Peace talks became effective and the war ended peacefully in July 1953. Casualties of the North Korean and the Chinese were much
higher than casualties of the South Korean, the Americans and the British. Till today, the 38th parallel continues to divide North and South Korea, where
North Korea still remains communist and South Korea continues to be democratic.

What Makes A Good Quality Democracy?
Although there are various definitions of what a democracy is, it is undeniably true that democracy can be linked to development. Take for
example, the Korean peninsula, which is divided by a demilitarized zone. On the South Korean side the people live in a democracy, whereas on the
North Korean side the people live in an authoritarian regime. Before I use the Korean peninsula to explain how democracy is linked with
development we must first define the term democracy and secondly constitute what development looks like. In our textbooks democracy is defined
as "a form of regime associated with 'rule by the people' that signifies rights and liberties for citizens, including political rights to participate in
elections and civil liberties such as freedom of speech" (Dickovick & Eastwood, 2013). Yet this definition will not suffice alone. To further our
understanding of a democracy Larry Diamond and Leonardo Morlino explain what makes a good quality democracy. According to them a democracy
is at least made up of universal suffrage, fair elections, multiple political parties, alternative sources of information, and must accords its citizens' ample
freedom, political equality, and control over public policies and policy makers through the legitimate and lawful functioning of stable institutions as
well (Diamond & Morlino 2004). Although the quality of a democracy is hard to measure, they offer eight dimensions that can be used to measure the
quality of a democracy, and if

With Her Oil Lamp On, That Night Review With Her Oil Lamp On, That Night is a Korean novel written by Lim Chul–Woo during the times of War in
Korea. This short story is written in such a way that readers can relate to the pain that the victims of the Korean War felt. Lim tells the story with such
detail so that the readers feel like they are actually there observing. The story opens with a soldier in the company of rebels in the woods outside the

His last words to her were that he was going to return after six months and with that, "he walked over the brow of the hill"(24). When Lim uses
events such as these in the story, it is easy for the readers to relate to what is happening. The readers subconsciously told to imagine themselves in
the shoes of the mother. What if the reader had to let their loved one leave and was only told about their death with one single sheet of paper in the
mail. Lim's choice of including such events in the story allows her to connect with her readers on a deeper level. Lim is trying to get the readers to
understand the effects of the war. She does this because the impacts of the war were so great on Korean society. This story is very effective in
showing the readers how the war shaped the people and their way of life. In the story, it is also very clear that she wants the readers to understand that
war is inherently a negative event. The four main characters of this story all have different backgrounds, but they all share the same issue of death and
loss. The mother had lost her husband and her child, the "crazy–woman" had lost her life and sanity before arriving at the town, Lieutenant Gang had
lost his wife and unborn first child, and finally the soldier in the woods had lost his father and life and even at the last chance to be reunited with his

The culture of South Korea is unique and rapidly evolving. There are many aspects of culture such as the economic achievements of the Koreans, the
society that is today, and religion. When the culture of South Korea is mention, it cannot be discuss without North Korea. The international relationship
that South Korea and North Korea has has led to tension around the world for the last 67 years (History.com, 2017).
The start of the Korean War led to the 38th parallel separation. As South Korea were ally with the United States and North Korea to the Soviet Union
and China. North Korea adopted the ideas of Communism, while South Korea would become a pro–Western Country. The war would reach both ends
of the country before an armistice was negotiated and sign. The actual fighting of the war was only three years, nearly five million people died
(History.com, 2017). The recovery of South Korea would take nearly 25 years to complete. These casualties of war and philosophies from allied
countries would help shape the future of both Koreas. New policies were pass to make a military obligation mandatory in order to anticipate North

Conflict in Korea The U.S.'s conflict with North Korea is as old as their leader is short. It all started in the late 40's and early 50's with the war on
Communism. The U.S. feared the rise of Communism in its neighboring states and the effect it might have on American politics; this phenomenon
was referred to as the Domino Effect. As a result of this fear, the U.S. took action in an attempt to avert this perceived inevitability. One of the
Nations we took action in was Korea; the North was backed by the Soviets and the South was backed by the U.S.. This country was now torn between
two radically different ideologies; separated by the 38th parallel and a little over 100,000 men. The Korean War may have ended in 1953, however, we

North vs. South While many people view North and South Korea as one in the same, they are not. North and South Korea may share a border, but that
is all they share; they are dramatically different. Where North Korea can barely feed their own people, South Korea is a hot spot for technological
development. For example, Hyundai Motor (the world 's fifth biggest car manufacturer), Samsung Electronics (the world 's biggest technology firm by
revenue), and POSCO (one of the worlds leading manufactures of steel) are some of the few multi–billion dollar companies operating out of South
Korea. While North Korea has committed atrocities against humanity, South Korea has cultivated an economy that has allowed talented individuals
to revolutionize technology. These claims can be substantiated by taking a look at the GDP of both countries; in 2011, North Korea 's GDP was
estimated at $1,800 per capita whereas South Korea 's was $31,700 per capita. The one sector of North Korea 's economy that public money is
actually funneled into is their military. This money, which accounts for half of their GDP, is used to develop ICBMs, nuclear warheads, and other
weapons with baleful intent. South Korea may not be a world superpower, but they are miles and leagues ahead of North Korea. At least, the North
understands that weapons of mass destruction are not toys to be played with by short men with God complexes.

Before the summer of 1950 could begin North Korea has aggressively defeated and man handled South Korea. The more and more these countries
fought, the more tensions flared and the communist was getting better control. President Harry S. Truman didn't like the fact that the Communist were

which is how they are issued today. The technological advances today allow swift ammunition issue and delivery, which gives our Armed Forces the

Many of these vulnerabilities are the cause for different types of network attacks. It should be noted that while many of these vulnerabilities may be

The first vulnerability is the email server. Although very well controlled for been within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), this is always a vulnerability

configuring the email server so that only authorized email may enter. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let's analyze the various attacks and threats to which our network can be a victim. For a better understanding I'll start from the most external layer of
the network.
Phishing or Spear Phishing is an attack that may be carried through the email server. In this attack the hacker creates a fake web site that looks exactly
like a popular site or any of ours providers / clients. The purpose of this attack is to collect sensitive information about users or the company. An attack
of this type may be little detrimental or devastating, depending on how much and how important is the information collected. If this information
provides access to the network to an unauthorized person we could be facing the three types of threats: Denial or Destruction, Alteration and
Disclosure. It all depends of the intentions of the attacker.
The WAP can be a victim of multiple attacks. Eavesdropping is one of the most common attacks made against this type of device. Such attack can read
and capture all types of packets transmitted through a network. Due to the location of the WAP our main threat would be disclosing of classified
information to other sources.
The second most common attack facing us in this segment of the network is Brutal–Force. This attack is based on trying all possible

What Literature Teaches About Different Cultures
Our world is full of hundreds of cultures, scattered all over the place, but when we can't travel to every country on earth, how can we find out about
these cultures. We can learn a tremendous amount about a culture, just through studying their literature. First of all, we can learn a great amount
about their basic culture; their everyday life. We can also learn what kind of society they live in now, and what kind they did live in hundreds of
years ago. And finally we can learn about their history simply from studying their culture. Culture isn't only defined as a country's history or what
kind of society they live in, it's also about simple things like what you eat, or what kind of bed you have, or what you believe in.
Culture can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Korean culture believes that tradition is everything in literature, using the same metaphors or subjects for writing and putting them into you're own
poems is considered a very good thing to do. We can see this in many poems; Koreans use symbols and imagery to represent different things in their
poems, a lot of poems talk about a river, a flower, or rolling hills, these all mean that time continues, a chrysanthemum or an orchid in a poems means
virtue. There are many symbols that are in Korean poems that we see over and over again, this shows that in Korean culture tradition is beautiful.
Korea is ruled under a Confucianist society, and has been for over five hundred years, it's a little more relaxed now, but the ideas of Confucianism
are still there. When you're in a Confucianist society there is the idea of "Law vs. Ritual" this means that people have internalized the idea of not
breaking the law, up to 99% of Koreans don't even know what would happen if they broke the law because they know you just "don't do it". This is
present in the film "Joint Security Area" (JSA), the Koreans have internalized the idea that you do not cross the line that separates North and South
Korea.
Relationships in Korea have been shaped around the idea of Confucianism. In Korea the Caste System is still present to this day; however it is not as
strong as it used to be. In the Caste System you should only talk

Intelligence Collection Plan

  • 1. Intelligence Collection Plan Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to establish an intelligence collection plan which will be used by North Korea during a 15 day "non–lethal show of force" exercise against the United States. Developing a collection plan from the North Korean's point of view will present a few challenges as the North Koreans likely believe their intelligence capabilities are second to none; and far superior than either the United States or the South can ever imagine. In this scenario, the collection plan will be laid out with that perception. The information provided will be factual, but with a twist to potentially represent how this plan would be presented to Kim Jung Un leading up to the exercise. From here forward, we will see the scenario from this point of view. North Korea will amass troops and artillery along the entire distance of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in an attempt to show the Western Devil United States that we will invade and destroy South Korea; in the name of The Great Leader, if the United States does not lift economic sanctions and embargos placed on North Korea. • 2. The Impact Of The Korean War On The Cold War The Korean War begun on the arrival of the North Korean Army troops consisted of 750.000 soldiers at the 38th parallel– the imaginary boundary between South Korea– on une 25, 1950 (History.com Staff,2009). According to (PBS, N.D.), Korean War was the first war to provide the confrontation of nuclear powers and the war also showed how hard was the difficulty of both sides to create the right decision on when to attack using the bomb at the right time. Although it might seemed to be difficult, the attacks from Soviet Union and China on behalf of North Korea was hard to repel so that United Nation was asked to help South Korea repelled those attacks (PBS, n.d.). Japan economy has once experienced the sudden raise as the Tokyo stock market has boomed during the Korea civil war (Dingman, p 14, 1993). The other impact that Japan feel is The Korean War kept Japan internationalized as many Americans stayed in Japan and made an open and good relationship with the strangers. • 3. Causes Of The Korean War Intro The Korean war left 2.5 million people dead more than half of which civilians, nearly 10% of Korea's total population. With the war officially starting in June of 1950 it took almost three years of North and South Korea battling until the armistice was signed in July of 1953. The ongoing cold war between America and Russia can be linked to as to why the Korean conflict was originally initiated. Still to this day the border between North and South Korea is a heated zone, there is little to no hope of a united Korea anytime soon. Short term cause American troops began to leave South Korea around mid–1949 with Dean Acheson Releasing a speech in January 1950 stating that the US would no longer commit their forces to mainland Asia. Acheson saying that their defensive perimeter ran through Japan and the Ryukyu but not the Republic of Korea or the Republic of China, "The defensive perimeter runs along the Aleutians to Japan and then goes to the Ryukyus. We hold important defence positions in the Ryukyu Islands, and those we will continue to hold". The recent withdrawal of American troops from South Korea gave Kim Il Sung an opportunity to make a push towards South Korea Although; he could not do this alone, he would need the help of Stalin. After constant persuasion from Kim, Stalin agreed to support Kim with his attack on South Korea, The recent development of Stalin's first atomic bomb in 1949 may have given him confidence about the invasion. • 4. The Korean Demilitarized Zone ( Dmz ) Introduction The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is known as the most militarized border on the globe separating the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea and North Korea respectively. The DMZ prevents military action from both sides in agreement with the Korean Armistice Agreement until peace is declared. Actually, most people do not know that the Korean peninsula is still in a state of war and that there is only a ceasefire between the North and South – proving the existence of a very tense relationship. The Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have very different political ideologies governing their nation–states. The South is an open democratic, free–market society, whereas the North is a closed communist, isolationist society. Both involve themselves, to a certain extent, in the international community and are both members of the United Nations, albeit with various disputes regarding accusations against the North concerning crimes against humanity. There also exists the importance of inter–Korean relations with both sides sharing the goal to create a closer relationship between the two. A puzzling feat for scholars to comprehend is why these two countries, still at war, have this kind of common goal and it is due to their desire to reunify. Despite the devastations of the Korean War, the present distrust, attacks, and differing ideologies, a deep connection remains between the Korean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Two Koreas: War or Peace? On a bright, summer morning on the Yellow Sea in 1999, two eruptive nations clashed once again, one of many stirring incidents that have happened between the sensitive time–bombs after their famous war. Bullets whizzed past the North and South Korean sailors, and volley of cannon fires caused shattering damage and destructive chaos which went on for ten minutes. This ruthless shootout resulted in heavy casualties on both sides and a sunken vessel; caused by this unstable "battle", whether the two countries will coexist in a stale mate any further remains a mystery. United States and bordering countries fear of a fully engaged nuclear war, but despite the worries, both Koreas have shown attempts of peaceful negotiations by sending officials... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, after stalling for two more years, the armistice was signed on July 27, 1953, which drew a new boundary near the 38th parallel giving South Korea extra 1500 squared mile and creating a 2–mile wide demilitarized zone that still exists today. The relatively short but exceptionally brutal war came to an end, and resulted in 5 million lives dead, over half of them civilians. The war that ended six decades ago still split the two nations that were one in the past. Representatives from all parts of the world continue their debate on the fate of the two Koreas, and, proved by the incidents that follow the aforementioned war, a change is imminent, whether it may be a second Korean War or a movement for peace and unification. However, small clashes and shootouts do keep the tension between them high, and the world waits nervously for a spark to initiate the change. Both war and peace can become the outcome as stated by Kevin Sullivan, who addresses the incident at the Yellow Sea. Whether the conflict was an unexpected miscalculation or a premeditated military act, it was a clear example of the high tension between the sensitive countries. According to the author, some officials saw this clash as a "reckless military provocation" designed to push the two Koreas to 'the brink of war." The officials argued that tension between the countries was at its highest level, and that war would be inevitable. However, more optimistic views ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. North Korean Political Policies On North Korea Introduction Beginning in the early 1940's, Korea has been a split nation; the great divide that happened in initially in 1945 was just the beginning of what would become one of the world's most infamous splits of a country. Radically different in political regime and agenda, these countries provide for a very complex case study of border conflict. Due to its extremely repressive regime, North Korea stands as one of the worst places to call home in the world, while South Korea is incredibly more liberal. Despite the inescapable amounts of propaganda imposed on the citizens of North Korea, the current generations of North Koreans hold ties to South Korea through separated family, making South Korea a very attractive but forbidden land. While South Korea continues to center its foreign policy on loosening the strict rule of the North Korean government, North Korea remains stubborn and the struggle remains in tow with the stark differentiation between ideologies politically, militarily, and culturally. History of Korea In the mid 10th century, the Silla regime was overtaken by the Goryea regime in what is today Korea when it was one land, and one people. The name "Korea" was directly derived from the pronunciation of the Goryea. (Shelley, 500). The first separation of the territory of Korea came after World War II ended, and the Soviets occupied the Northern portion of Korea, while the Americans occupied the Southern portion. This separation was never actually intended to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Contrast and Impact of War in North and South Korea It's hard to image countries struggling to find peace but sometimes this peace is much more than just agreeing. North and South Korea have had a feud for decades more than expected. Now the demilitarized zone, watchtowers, razor wire, land mines divides North and South Korea, tank traps, and extremely heavy weaponry secure the DMZ. North Korea is faced with a tough challenge as being ranked 178th rated country in the world, where as the south is ranked 31st and is more self– sufficient. With the cold war in the hand of the country's leader the civilian's lives is dependent on the next move. As peace begins to settle a treaty has still not been signed since the North and South cannot agree on the control of power. The start of the Korean War began on June 25,1950 (history) The Americans fought in the Korean War on behalf of South Koreans. Some assumed it as the "War against the forces of international communism" (history). At the beginning of this war seemed that the north and South Koreans crossed over the 38th parallel repeatedly. Canadian Peacekeeping "From the outset of the war, the Canadian people have clearly shown that it is their desire to help in every way to make Canada's war effort as effective as possible" – William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada during World War II (Collections Canada, 2001). Currently, many in the 21st century consider Canada as a very peaceful, social, and overall accommodating country. Canada does many things for its people such as taking in many refugees, helping university level students with loans, and giving immigrants affordable housing. Canada did many things in this conflict, one of the most important was that Canada helped secure Seoul, and in the process pushed back soviet forces towards the North Korean Border. As a peacekeeping country apart of the U.N (United Nations) peacekeeping force, an estimated "26,791 Canadian military personnel served in the Korean War, during both the combat phase and as peacekeepers afterward. The last Canadian soldiers left Korea in 1957" (Herd, 2007). Not only did Canada aid South Korea in combat, but Canada also aided South Korea in the peacekeeping phase after the conflict. Canada completed their mission as both countries agreed for an armistice, and to stop the fighting. According to author, D'Arcy Jenish, "Both sides abandoned any attempt to take territory when North and South agreed in July, 1951, to start peace talks. But there was no ceasefire. Instead, as the negotiations dragged on for two years, the war became a stalemate" (2000). Even after the conflict, some Canadians decided to stay back and serve in Korea, and many of these troops "guarded and patrolled the ROK's (Republic of Korea) side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which continues to separate the two Koreas" (Korean War, 2003). Summer, characterized by its heavy rainfall, runs from July to mid–September. Average temperatures fall between the 70s and mid–80s. Because of the amount of humidity, fog tends to be prevalent most summer days, with the coastal line suffering the heavy doses. July and August see the most rainfall, with an average of 15 inches per month. Weather hazards continue in the form of thunderstorms and the occasional monsoon. Autumn, which falls between September and November, has average temperatures ranging from the 50s to the 60s. Clear skies and less rain make for better visibility during the fall. No major hazards exist during this season. Looking at the weather from a military perspective, it is easy to conclude that rotary wing assets will confront problems with low visibility coupled with heavy precipitation. The legislative branch is responsible for making the laws, the executive branch is responsible for interpreting the laws, and the executive branch is headed by the president of South Korea Lee Myung–bak. The president is elected by popular vote for a five year term and may not run for another term. The country is divided into administrative districts for governing. It was not easy getting to this agreement. The main point of contention was the repatriate of prisoners of war. This was an issue because many of the prisoners captured by UN and South Korean forces did not want to return to North Korea. This was absolutely not acceptable by China and North Korea. Finally the two sides came to an agreement. With U.S. Army Lieutenant General William Harrison, Jr. representing the United Nations Command, and North Korean General Nam Il representing the Korean People 's Army, and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, they signed the Korean Armistice Agreement on July 27th of 1953. The armistice was designed to "Insure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful settlement is achieved." It is well known that this is not this case today. Officially, there is still an ongoing war between North andSouth Korea. The peaceful settlement was supposed to be the topic at an international conference the following summer, but it just got pushed aside and here we are today, still no official peace agreement. Additionally, the armistice set up the official demilitarized zone (DMZ), placed a cease –fire, and repatriated prisoners of war. This experience was crucial for me as I could understand the dynamics of the business and learned that not one staff member was more important than the rest. For things to run in harmony than communication between all members of staff is vital. Even more so than in a hospital with the collaboration of nurses, hospital staff, paramedics, doctors, physiotherapists, radiographers etc. It is only due to the combined effort that the patients get the care that they need. It is very clear that anarchy as such is not a structural cause of anything (Wendt, 1995). Anarchy is a social construct that is ever evolving through changes in norms and identities. The reasons that the US was constrained did not result from anarchy. Rather, it resulted from a changing international structure that affected the identity and interest of the US. This conflict began in a time of great upheaval in the world of international relations. The USSR had collapsed a mere two years prior to North Korea announcing that it would withdraw from the NPT. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It's me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced. Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me. When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don't know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don't go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That's how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often) I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff, ... Typically, rules such as the Treaty on the Non –Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons are contested by a number of states. For instance, this particular treaty aims to reduce the further spread of nuclear weapons and to maintain peaceful cooperation between countries who currently possess nuclear weapons. In fact, several states do not comply with this treaty and numerous other rules. This list of countries includes North Korea, South Sudan, Israel and some other states. Therefore, in this paper, I aim to examine under what degree these states decide not to comply with global norms particularly, the nuclear weapons treaty. Furthermore, I also seek an answer to under what condition the North Korea pursues nuclear power and focuses extensively on their military strength. • 33. The Korean War : The Forgotten War The Korean War, also known as the "Forgotten War" began on June 25, 1950. On that day, about 75,000 soldiers from North Korean, with the help and advice from the Soviet Union, cross the 38th parallel. The 38th parallel is "the boundary between the Soviet–backed Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the north and the pro–Western Republic of Korea to the south" (History.com). Within three days, the North Korean People's Army was able to capture Seoul, the capital of South Korea. This invasion marked the beginning of the Cold War. Fearing the spread of Communism, the United Nations and United States agreed to send troops to South Korea, and on the 1st of July 1950, American troops arrived to South Korea to help the democratic South Korean to fight against the North Korean communist invasion. The Americans goal was to prevent the spread of Communism. The People's Republic of China, led by Mao Ze Dong, also became involved to North Korean's aid. After millions of combat casualties on both side, the Panmunjom Peace talks became effective and the war ended peacefully in July 1953. Casualties of the North Korean and the Chinese were much higher than casualties of the South Korean, the Americans and the British. • 34. What Makes A Good Quality Democracy? Although there are various definitions of what a democracy is, it is undeniably true that democracy can be linked to development. Take for example, the Korean peninsula, which is divided by a demilitarized zone. On the South Korean side the people live in a democracy, whereas on the North Korean side the people live in an authoritarian regime. Before I use the Korean peninsula to explain how democracy is linked with development we must first define the term democracy and secondly constitute what development looks like. In our textbooks democracy is defined as "a form of regime associated with 'rule by the people' that signifies rights and liberties for citizens, including political rights to participate in elections and civil liberties such as freedom of speech" (Dickovick & Eastwood, 2013). Yet this definition will not suffice alone. To further our understanding of a democracy Larry Diamond and Leonardo Morlino explain what makes a good quality democracy. According to them a democracy is at least made up of universal suffrage, fair elections, multiple political parties, alternative sources of information, and must accords its citizens' ample freedom, political equality, and control over public policies and policy makers through the legitimate and lawful functioning of stable institutions as well (Diamond & Morlino 2004). Although the quality of a democracy is hard to measure, they offer eight dimensions that can be used to measure the quality of a democracy, and if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What if the reader had to let their loved one leave and was only told about their death with one single sheet of paper in the mail. Lim's choice of including such events in the story allows her to connect with her readers on a deeper level. Lim is trying to get the readers to understand the effects of the war. She does this because the impacts of the war were so great on Korean society. This story is very effective in showing the readers how the war shaped the people and their way of life. In the story, it is also very clear that she wants the readers to understand that war is inherently a negative event. The four main characters of this story all have different backgrounds, but they all share the same issue of death and loss. The mother had lost her husband and her child, the "crazy–woman" had lost her life and sanity before arriving at the town, Lieutenant Gang had lost his wife and unborn first child, and finally the soldier in the woods had lost his father and life and even at the last chance to be reunited with his mother, he lost his own life. It all started in the late 40's and early 50's with the war on Communism. The U.S. feared the rise of Communism in its neighboring states and the effect it might have on American politics; this phenomenon was referred to as the Domino Effect. As a result of this fear, the U.S. took action in an attempt to avert this perceived inevitability. One of the Nations we took action in was Korea; the North was backed by the Soviets and the South was backed by the U.S.. North and South Korea may share a border, but that is all they share; they are dramatically different. Where North Korea can barely feed their own people, South Korea is a hot spot for technological development. For example, Hyundai Motor (the world 's fifth biggest car manufacturer), Samsung Electronics (the world 's biggest technology firm by revenue), and POSCO (one of the worlds leading manufactures of steel) are some of the few multi–billion dollar companies operating out of South Korea. While North Korea has committed atrocities against humanity, South Korea has cultivated an economy that has allowed talented individuals to revolutionize technology. These claims can be substantiated by taking a look at the GDP of both countries; in 2011, North Korea 's GDP was estimated at $1,800 per capita whereas South Korea 's was $31,700 per capita. The one sector of North Korea 's economy that public money is actually funneled into is their military. This money, which accounts for half of their GDP, is used to develop ICBMs, nuclear warheads, and other weapons with baleful intent.
