• Archicerebellum- maintenance of equilibrium , tone and posture of
trunk ,muscles
• Paleocerebellum- posture and crude movements of limbs
• Neocerebellum- coordination of smooth skilled movements

20. Clinical anatomy
• Cerebellar syndrome – trauma, vascular occlusion, tumors
• Archicerebellum- truncal ataxia and staggering gate, nystagmus –
Romberg’s sign
• Paleocerebellum- hypotonia, asthenia of limb muscles . Unstable
joints, pendular knee jerk, ataxia- inability to maintain balance while
walking
• Neocerebellum- dysmetria- past pointing, FN confrontation test,
intention tremors, adiadochokinesia/disdiadochokionesia- inability to
do alternate supination, pronation , dysarthria- scanning speech,
