About the Project: Bihar Technical Assistance and Support Team (BTAST) with funding support of DFID
to assist the Department of Health (DoH), Social Welfare Department (SWD) and Public Health
Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Bihar, successfully implement the Sector Wide
Approach to improve health and nutrition conditions of people of Bihar (SWASTH).
SWASTH’s goal is “to improve the health and nutritional status of people in Bihar, particularly the poorest
and excluded’, and thereby accelerate the state’s progress towards the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs). Its purpose is “increased use of quality, essential health, nutrition, water and sanitation services
especially by poorest people and excluded groups’.

Job Summary:
Responsible for managing technical and operational assistance in the district to Department of Health
(DoH), Social Welfare Department (SWD) and Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) and
providing hand holding support and supportive supervision of districts officials at all levels to achieve the
desire goals of the project in effective and efficient ways:

• Ensure timely and high quality technical assistance to districts in operationalzing Nodal
Anganwadi Centre strategy.
• Ensure regular active participation of monthly meetings of ICDS to share various feedback to
DPO and CDPO
• Participate and contribute to district annual planning PIP formulation process and ensure project
learning’s are incorporated in the annual plan.
• In consultation with state office develop plans to study situation of malnutrition in the district and
to support CMAM rollout in the district.
• Roll out integrated BCC strategy of state with special focus on IPC (Mobile Kunji).
• Co-ordinate with SHPI’s and other agencies for ensuring effective implementation and advocacy
under Community Based Approaches (CBA- Gram Varta, package of Violence against women
intervention & others).
