13. Try creating a chart for yourself that illustrates the major events in Earth's history. For example, you could chart major events within each of the kingdoms (e.g.: appearance of major phyla, movement onto land, appearance of important features such as seeds in plants and amniote eggs in animals, major extinctions), and how these correspond to major geologic and climactic changes (e.g. the oxygen revolution, the formation of Pangaea). I do not expect you to remember the exact dates of these events, but you should be able to place them into chronological order, and to know which events happened in each era (PreCambrian (=Archaean+Proterozoic), Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic). You do still need to know the dates for the boundaries of the eras. Tip: use the geologic time line from your textbook as a starting point, and add your own notes or pictures to it that help you remember the big events..
