This document analyzes how various social groups are represented in media products by comparing characters from the film "We Need to Talk About Kevin" to characters from other films. The main characters discussed are the kidnapper (Kevin), the mother (Eva), the missing girl (Evie), and the policeman. For each pair of characters, differences and similarities between how they are portrayed in terms of things like violence, mental state, race, and socioeconomic background are outlined. • Both give the appearance of a tranquil
and perfect family life.

is seeking revenge.
• Both missing for different reasons,
Evie; jealous brother, Amy is missing
on purpose.
Similarities;
• Both from a middle class back-ground.
• Both given the impression of a perfect

storyline
