Writing And Writing Analysis
The practice of writing is deeper than being a monotonous necessary evil in college; writing is an essential and multipurpose tool, a skill, and a form
of personal expression. The quality of one's writing can be the difference between whether they are hired for a job, get acceptances for scholarships, or
whether or not they are able to communicate their emotions in a healthy way. In my relationship with writing, my preferred mediums have changed and
my skills as a writer have transformed drastically, with skills I once possessed as a young writer diminishing due to a lack of practice. Due to my lack
of practicing creative writing in high school, paired with the development of an extremely introverted personality, I face many challenges in creative ...

Personal Narrative: My Growth As A Technical Writer
As an Agriculture Science major with minors in Animal Science and Agronomy, I have learned that my future could to a variety of career paths.
From education to applied research Agriculture is an industry that is need of students with a passion and foundation to feed the world. That also
means that we need a good solid foundation of core concepts that make us sustainable and effective in our chosen careers. Technical writing I have
found has been overlooked and not applied in the way that it fully could be to make students better rounded and viable in a competitive job market. I
would like to apply the lessons that I have learned over the last three months and apply these skills. We will be looking at three technical documents
that are commonly used in the Agriculture science industry and those being, Pamphlets or programs, emails, and Informative documents that help
educate producers. These documents are the most widely used and will be most commonly seen and dealt with by Agricultural Professionals.

Process Essay: How To Be A Good Writer
The process to be a good writer can be different for each person but it for sure requires experience and practice. My writing experience in English
doesn't really go too far back; I only started learning English about three years ago. Coming to UC Santa Cruz, my only knowledge on preparing a
proper paper was based on my spread out information from high school English. However, Core in fall quarter and Writing 20 this quarter started to
prepare me step by step. Writing might not be my favorite subject, but Writing 20 has helped me realize how crucial can writing be no matter what
major and career I would end up in future. Throughout this quarter I got to know who I am as a writer and identified my relationship with language

Critical Argument Analysis
In the process of researching the selected topic regarding "Fear" there were many angles to consider in how 'in depth' the writers got into their topic.
There were many questions to ask in how well the authors of the writings made their claims concerning the topic. As each author has his or her own
way of reaching the audience it would be only right that his or her writing process reflect this. Each author has their own brand of emotion and logic he
or she uses to reach their audiences, which in turn can affect each authors writing. Each author brings to the table a unique style of writing, one using
technical/formal, one using a bit of technical/formal with a bit of informal thrown in. The third author was very informal toward their ... Show more

the structure and style of the writing made for a pleasing read. The last essay was not very structured and as for the style of the essay was very laid
back. There was no true evidence or support to back this essay. Each essay in their own way would appeal to a specific audience. The purpose behind
each essay was to show how fear affects people and society and each essay did and did very well in the genre that were written in.

`` Shitty First Drafts `` By Anne Lamott
Anne Lamott's "Shitty First Drafts" presents an argument to eliminate the understanding that writers create a masterpiece on their first drafts. The first
draft is simply the first attempt that writers create to turn their thoughts into a final paper. Lamott tries to convince the "uninitiated" that everyone
writes "shitty first drafts" and often times, positive outcomes come from those first attempts. One of the biggest obstacle in writing is the fear of
creating terrible paper and many writers do not realize that this is actually the most important part to a good article. Lamott provided an effective
rhetorical situation because of her persuasive appeals and structure.
Lamott 's effective persuasion was greatly due to her reflection on the writing process that writers go through and at the same time informing her
audience the importance of first drafts. Most people assume that accomplished writers can easily write something they could be proud of, but that is
not the case. According to Lamott, all good writers write a not–so–good first drafts and "this is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific
third drafts" (Lamott, 191). For the most part of a writing process, mistakes will be made and it will most likely not contain everything the author
wants to say. Lamott addressed new writers that the first draft is where writers assemble their ideas making it the most important step to a writing.
Lamott pointed out many times that first drafts will not be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Responsive Design
Overview
Gone are the days when a responsive design concept for smartphones, phablet, tablet, or desktop was called a niche industry. Now, the transformation
technology is responsive design where a web page design is automatically adjusted to your smartphone and other devices. Responsive design is based
on the principles of 'Mobile First–Progressive Enhancement' approach.
This white paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of responsive design, and a technical writer's approach on responsive content.
Advantages of responsive design
With responsive design, the HTML tag remains the same for amobile device or a desktop, only the CSS changes. The web page elements get reshuffled.
For example, a four–column desktop web page design may be reshuffled to two columns or one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disadvantages of responsive design
With responsive design, the loading time of content, image, and other elements is on the higher side because of unnecessary HTML and CSS code
downloaded on a mobile device.
Responsive design being a new concept, its development and implementation takes a longer time.
One website for all devices may not always work for the users.
A technical writer's approach towards responsive content
Content is vital. As a web page adapts to various devices, so should the content. The content should adjust as per the page layout. Because of responsive
design, technical writers can now focus on developing quality content.
Technical writing experts adhere to the 'Mobile First –Progressive Enhancement' approach, because designing the content works well on mobile devices
and later on the desktops.
Following are some of the best practice approach towards responsive content:
Content strategy
Content strategy gets the top priority. Technical writers study the audience analysis and try to understand–What, Who, Why, Where, How much, and to
what extent a user would access the information on a mobile device.

How My Literacy History Affected My Pedagogy
Part Four: Assessments
In the last three parts of this paper, I described how my own literacy history has affected my pedagogy as a future teacher. As I looked closer at the
different theories of rhetoric, I believe that I fall between the expressivists/new romantics and the cognitivists, as I explained in part two. I believe that
when writers are able to become comfortable forming their own opinions in their writing in a writer–centric environment, they will be more likely to
succeed in doing so with writing that has an intended audience. I believe this line of thinking or pedagogical approach will work best for developing
writers, as it focuses less on the technical side of writing and more on the content– or being able to realize their own

to read true life stories about ordinary people that are not famous. Also, the article asserts that many people were not famous until they wrote their own
memoirs. The article criticizes the critics by saying they are missing the reasons these pieces are so important, and popular with readers. This genres

HTML5 And The Future Of Technical Documentation
HTML5 and the Future of Technical Documentation By: Jessica Morley
May 2015 Introduction: A Crossroad in History
T
echnical writing is at a crossroad in history. Gone are the days when people read technical documentation from print in manuals, books, inserts, or
pamphlets. Likewise, the practice of reading documentation from a CD Rom or desktop software application is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
Today, if people want technical information, they go straight to their browsers to find what they're looking for.
With the advent of handheld smart phones, laptops, and tablets, teamed with the ubiquity of reliable internet connection everywhere, people demand
versatile, responsive, and accessible documentation that can meet their information needs. HTML5, the new HTML standard officially recommended
in October 2014, is the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) answer to this new age of high
–speed on–demand information, and technical writers
are beginning to take notice. However, the question remains: should technical writers adapt to this new wave of technology, and if so, to what extent
will HTML5 impact the user experience and the technical writing process?
There are a growing number of technical writers who are just shy of entirely enthusiastic for this brave new world of technology. Peter Lubbers, an
experienced technical writer, published author, and current Senior Program Manager at Google, is one such individual who may tip the scale on the

Danger, Will Robinson! Danger! If you are like me, you simply cannot read that sentence without hearing a robot voice in your head. All of us hear a
voice in our heads when we are reading the written word and this is great news for the writer. The writer can help to influence the the voice you hear
when you are reading their writing and good writers will use this to their advantage. In the technical writing that I do, I can choose to use big
technical words so that the voice my reader hears will sound scholarly or I can lessen the formality and use similes to convey the same ideas that those
big technical words would. I as the writer have control over the words I use and how I use them this choice contributes to the voice that the reader hears.

Audience Analysis Net Questions
1). Why is audience analysis the most important part of the writing process for technical writers? Do you agree with this idea?
Audience analysis is an important part of the writing process because the writer needs to be able to understand the needs and interests of the intended
group they are writing too. The writer will direct their writing style to the intended audience so that it is easy to understand (for customers) or direct
(often used for executives). How the message is presented will be even more effective depending on the tone used.
Answer
I agree with this because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would apply the KISS formula; Keep It Short and Simple to this type of audience. This group may have some knowledge about a product or service
however, the idea is to keep the message simple without the use of flowery words, and not burden them with too much information.
3) What are some characteristics you should know about your audience before you begin writing? Why is this important?
Answer
I believe it is important to know the gender, income level, age range, culture and marital status of your audience. Knowing these characteristics helps
a writer to understand if an audience may be interested in a product or service and how well it would sell. For example, a couple with children may
be interested in having a double stroller whereas those are not parents would not besssss. Another example is offering alcohol at a restaurant in Turkey
where it is forbidden.
4) What are some techniques you can use as a writer to make sure your audience understands what you are trying to say?

Occupational Therapy Essay
An occupational therapist is a trained and licensed health care professional who can make a complete evaluation of the impact of disease on the
activities of the patient at home and in work situations. Hobbies and recreational activities are considered when an assessment is made. The most
generally accepted definition of occupational therapy is that it is an activity, physical or mental, that aids in a patient's recovery from disease or injury.
The Occupational therapist takes a history from the patient by conducting a thorough interview. Questions are asked about hygiene, eating, dressing,

As technical writers, we will use evaluation reports, daily progress notes, summary reports and discharge plans. Accuracy and attention to detail in the
content of these reports is essential in treating and determining the progress of our patients.
Documentation is the means by which we communicate our treatment to other health professionals and third party payers. In most cases, it is
necessary to communicate effectively to others, orally and in writing the status of the patient. In addition, documentation is an important aspect of our
field because it conveys the status and condition of the patient and our plan and evaluation of said condition to other caregivers. Medical records will
be read by the doctors, nurses and in some cases by those submitting payment to the insurance companies. It is important that as occupational therapy
students we develop documentation skills early and continue to refine these skills throughout our careers.
In order to implement the guidelines for excellent technical communication, we need to remember the three major reasons to be honest as a
communicator. First, we must keep in mind that technical communication is not about using words and pictures to mislead or lie to people. It is about
helping people understand how to make wise choices. "If you lie or mislead, people can be hurt" (Markell 12). Secondly, a patient can worsen in

Kurt Vonnegut's How To Write With Style
"How to Write with Style" Response Kurt Vonnegut Jr. who wrote the article "How to Write with Style," talks of a style that immediately garners the
attention of its audience. I agree that with the practices that Vonnegut employs as a writer. The first and most important that Vonnegut talks about is the
hook the quintessential part of writing seeing as this is the way to not only reel in the audience but also talk about the issue of the piece. With this the
writer can then introduce the entirety of the piece itself. However writing itself is not just words but the use of words, diction. The type of language
that is used can be one of ways to help the writing of a piece much better. With this two techniques the style of writing becomes styled with the voice of

It tells the characteristics of the writer in how they a tell a story, and from that alone can give a lot. From the article itself Vonnegut states, "They tell

emphasis on the understanding of the audience by the writer in giving them clues to make the writing easier for the audience to read. Vonnegut shows
this example the best by starting this article with the sentence, "Newspaper reporters and technical writers are trained to reveal almost nothing about
themselves in their writings. This makes them freaks in the world of writers, since almost all of the other ink–stained wretches in the world reveal a lot
about themselves to readers." This sentence immediately brings into focus the topic of the article and also the style of the writer comes to light. Which

Technical writing is a type of writing used by authors to convey technical information about a certain subject. The audience of technical writing should

One characteristic which may be harder to prove is the fact that the example document was produced collaboratively. While it's true that multiple teams
and more than one SME were required to gather the key information in this document, the pdf version used does not show the revision history or the
string of emails that went back and forth between the other teams and its author. That being said, what readers can rely on is that

What Are My Reflective Essay About My Writing Skills
Since taking this course I have been very honest about my writing abilities. Through this course I have had to come to terms with my strengths and
make a real effort to overcome the weaknesses that I have found within my writing styles. Many of us know how to swim, but most of us do not know
how to do the technical swimming movements. It is very easy for a person to say that the know how to swim, not realizing that the requestor was
asking if they Knew the technical motions. I feel that my writing style, up until this class, was like that of the swimmer who knew how to survive in
the water but not be as graceful or as calculated as even a middle school swim team member. Reflecting back on my previous writings, I have noticed

John wrote his family a very confusing letter, maybe he shouldn't have put too much detail into the letter. Giving to much information can sometimes
hurt you, try just getting the main points across when writing. I think Technical Reasoning would help him to get the message a little more clear and to
the point, without all that unnecessary extra information.

Goals For Writing
A goal without a plan is doomed to fail. My goal for graduate school is to acquire new writing skills and to refine those I already possess. I want to be
the best writer I can be and my plan is to utilize graduate–level education to me my goal of being a better writer. Northern Arizona University's Master
of Arts (MA) in English (Professional Writing emphasis) is the best way for me to do just that. As a foundation for my studies I have a vast amount of
experience and formal military training in the field of professional writing.
Professional writing has been the cornerstone of my nearly 15–year career in the U.S. Army. I have completed hundreds of hours of formal training on
writing numerous types of reports and educational documents. As an intelligence analyst, I have written well–over 3,000 intelligence reports. Similarly
as a member of large–unit staff my primary duty was publishing operational orders for subordinate units distributed throughout several countries. In
that capacity I would draft those orders or I was the quality control point of contact ensuring they were error–free and executable. My current position

would surely be in it. That document was possible only because I had received the proper training. None of my workplace writing would have been

Difference Between Content Writing And Creative Writing
Difference between Content Writing and Creative Writing
Most people would think that all writing is the same and there is no difference between content writing and creative writing.
I am Jaison, doing my final year English literature. Being a literature student, creative writing is my comfortable space. I did my internship in

had a clear conception of what content writing is. Later then I substantiated the differences between content writing and Creative writing.

Sarah Mlynowski's Writing Style
Introduction
"I think that if you write what you love to read that will be what your audience wants to read, too." The above quote by eminent writer Sarah
Mlynowski speaks volume of the significance of adapting writing style as per the target audience. The audience is again of various types, and one
cannot adapt his or her writing style as per the audience unless there he or she has some basic information about the same. This includes their age,
sex, the level of education, the level of information they already possess like the general audience, experts, and novice. A lot depends also, on
whether the writing is for a magazine, a newspaper, or a drama. Manser & Curtis have rightly pointed out that "It makes obvious sense to write in a

User Manual Critique
Many technical fields rely on user manuals, operator manuals and technical manuals to do their day to day tasks at work. Without these manuals there
would be too much information for one person to know to be able to their job. Accidents, personal or equipment would be more frequent in the work
field. That is why manuals are developed, to prevent accidents and to keep people informed of updated information on equipment. So a well–developed
and written manual will help a person succeed at their job, which is why someone needs to critique a manual before it is released to the public.
In this essay the critiquing of the user manual for the Black & Decker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All steps are marked with numbers and all changes in topics are marked with a paragraph heading title.
Conciseness
The reading of each instruction leaves a person with no doubt on what they are supposed to do, and when a step is done and what step to take next.
Each topic is short and to the point and clear. Consistency
All paragraphs, heading and graphics are consistent with all material that has been developed in this manual. Graphics are simple and can be easily
followed.
Document Design
Graphic's show a picture of the drill or parts of the drill with arrows and hands showing how to do a particular part, such as inserting the battery on
to the drill. If there was any real issue with this manual is that there is not enough white space. Sometimes you can get lost because each paragraph
and heading is so close together. The manual though is very organized, with numbering and header separations. All hazards and warning are easily
identified with bold lettering, and a safety triangle (or danger sign). This was a black and white manual, so there were no color pictures or graphics,
which could lead readers to just skim through the pages and not really read the important information.
I did find the manual very easy to understand and follow, however there are a few things that I think that the writers of this manual could have done.
Adding color to the manual does keep the interest of the reader, I found myself wanting to skim through

The World of Technical and Professional Writing Essay
The World of Technical and Professional Writing
As technical writing grows into a more common discipline, complicated questions concerning ethical standards seem to present themselves more
frequently. Much of what is written by a technical writer will need to appeal to individuals of varying situational backgrounds, and in this day of intense
political correctness and moral responsibility, it is important to remember the ethical and other cultural issues associated with writing for diverse groups
of people.
Perhaps the foremost ethical question that presents itself to technical writers revolves around the question "What makes a piece of writing acceptable
to one's audience?" On the surface, this is a seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When beginning one's research for any project, four basic issues should be considered: audience, purpose, scope and prior knowledge. The writer
should determine who his or her audience will be and for what purposes the audience will use the writer's knowledge. The audience's intended
purposes will determine how broad or narrow to focus the scope of the information. Finally, the writer's prior knowledge of the given topic will
determine how much time should be devoted to research (Pickett, Laster, and Staples 513–14). Each of these considerations will be discussed at
intervals throughout this text.
Ethical practices involving research methods are especially important to those individuals who have a career in education and who use their
experiences with students as a source for their professional writings. Ethical issues, of course, are not limited to the field of education, but many
questionable concerns can certainly present themselves in pedagogical situations. For example, when using a student (or a group of students) as a
source of data for research, it is important to remain aware of his or her vulnerability, dignity and privacy. These three conditions come into question
on a regular basis and are heavily debated by professionals in the field. The disputes are largely due to the fact that professional and

Actually, that is not a problem. A good, experience ghostwriter, or writer collaborator, can help individuals do just what needs to be done in helping
them carry out the publishing desires of their heart.

Usability And Technical Communication And Usability
In today's world, designing a website has become a piece of cake. With powerful designing tools that are available online, anyone can design quality
websites in a much shorter amount of time. But the question to be asked is, "How would a website designer know that his/her website would be user
friendly?" Usability testing is the answer. By definition, usability testing is the evaluation of a product or service by testing it on the user. Since the
product is for the user, it is necessary that users are involved during the process of creating a product or service. Today, usability testing is not only
limited to the field of information technology, but plays a major role in technical communication. In this report, I will talk about usability ... Show more

The central principle of technical communication has always been user focus. Technical communicators are usually comfortable dealing with users
from both technical and non–technical backgrounds, since they gather information from the technical to communicate with the non–technical.
Technical communicators possess good analytical skills and tend to be familiar with certain standards that involve interface design principles and style
guides (Gaffney 2004). Therefore, they possess skills that are required by usability professionals.
Today, technical communicators are not only writers of user assistance and related documents, but they also work as website designers, information
architects, content specialists and marketing communication specialists, to name a few of the sub fields within the field of technical communication.
USABILITY TECHNIQUES IN TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION
Technical communicators can incorporate certain usability techniques that help them to ensure a great user experience. These basic usability
techniques are as follows:
Perform usability test on the user documents:
Technical communicators mostly work offshore, and due to the lengthiness of the user guide, testing the entire document is not feasible most of the
time. Therefore, technical communicators can choose some complicated procedures that are important from a user's perspective, and perform usability
test on these procedures either remotely or one–on–one with the actual users.

My Writing Quality
The idea of being a technical writer has caught my attention since early childhood. Writers are diligent workers that write to inform, entertain, or
persuade people about their business. These workers must work even harder to achieve master's degrees and writing experience even before they
become a writer. They must experience both difficult and wondrous points during this career. Often, salaries and workplaces vary, as do job
opportunities and disadvantages. This career fits me because I am extremely creative and enjoy being assigned different topics. I also love writing and
directing others. There are many interesting and specific features writing carries. Writers often write manuals. They usually work for large news
companies, newspapers, and websites, such as The Daily Herald. According to the Mental Floss Magazine company, a writer must suit the following
qualities: descriptive, creative, experienced with English, and able to use a positive writing voice. If I were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Besides writing certain composition and bearing certain character traits, there are also necessities in education that are crucial for many news
companies. Many companies will require a master's degree in English or at least 3 years of writing experience in order to be able to write for
them. Other than that, other courses in English Language Arts and Writing are not required, but they are highly recommended to improve my
writing skills. What's more, writers also have specific work environments and dress codes, too. Most all writers work inside the building of their
company, if not, than they work in a quiet place, like a library. Usually, writers working for larger businesses tend to more often have editors by their
side, suggesting changes and revising their mistakes. And writers don't wear pajamas to work, they dress either in formal clothes or casual clothes,

How Does Reading And Writing Change Over Time
The history or reading and writing has changed over the years. Throughout the years, I have had exposure to a different array of reading material.
From Shakespeare and biblical passages, to modern technical abstracts and editorial opinions it is clear that reading and writing has been changed by
society through the course of time. Much of this change is attributed to the evolution of culture, religion, professional and social classes, ethnicity and
politics. We are in the midst of this change today and much of the way we write stems from the passages we read. In order to have a voice in society
we need to be attuned to society. The purpose of this paper is that the author wants the reader to think about reading and writing because there ... Show

Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication
In today's highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative ways, which include, inter alia, telephones,
cell–telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of
the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the
contemporary trends, methods and changes that communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional
communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004),
communication is "a systemic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings."
A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics, designing and creating websites, copyediting other
documents, examining documents for usability, illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because a
technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of exposition: that is, written communication done on the
job, especially in fields with specialized vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The biggest difference between
technical communication and the other kinds of writing you

Personal Narrative: What Defines A Successful Writer
What defines a successful writer? When is a writer born? At the beginning of Composition Class, I thought I possessed some perception of what
strengths and weaknesses existed in my writing. Furthermore, as the semester continues, I am learning in greater detail about myself as a writer;
where my fortitude resides, where there is a deficiency, and where I can advance in writing.
Preceding spring semester, I had never been in a formal college–level writing class. As I am finishing up my sixth week of this semester, I am
discovering what all is involved in writing. To write is not simply to put words on apaper; writing requires a developing story laid out in smooth, well

Writing And Writing Analysis

  • 1. Writing And Writing Analysis The practice of writing is deeper than being a monotonous necessary evil in college; writing is an essential and multipurpose tool, a skill, and a form of personal expression. The quality of one's writing can be the difference between whether they are hired for a job, get acceptances for scholarships, or whether or not they are able to communicate their emotions in a healthy way. In my relationship with writing, my preferred mediums have changed and my skills as a writer have transformed drastically, with skills I once possessed as a young writer diminishing due to a lack of practice. Due to my lack of practicing creative writing in high school, paired with the development of an extremely introverted personality, I face many challenges in creative ... Personal Narrative: My Growth As A Technical Writer As an Agriculture Science major with minors in Animal Science and Agronomy, I have learned that my future could to a variety of career paths. From education to applied research Agriculture is an industry that is need of students with a passion and foundation to feed the world. I would like to apply the lessons that I have learned over the last three months and apply these skills. We will be looking at three technical documents that are commonly used in the Agriculture science industry and those being, Pamphlets or programs, emails, and Informative documents that help educate producers. These documents are the most widely used and will be most commonly seen and dealt with by Agricultural Professionals. My writing experience in English doesn't really go too far back; I only started learning English about three years ago. There were many questions to ask in how well the authors of the writings made their claims concerning the topic. • 7. `` Shitty First Drafts `` By Anne Lamott Anne Lamott's "Shitty First Drafts" presents an argument to eliminate the understanding that writers create a masterpiece on their first drafts. The first draft is simply the first attempt that writers create to turn their thoughts into a final paper. Lamott tries to convince the "uninitiated" that everyone writes "shitty first drafts" and often times, positive outcomes come from those first attempts. One of the biggest obstacle in writing is the fear of creating terrible paper and many writers do not realize that this is actually the most important part to a good article. Lamott provided an effective rhetorical situation because of her persuasive appeals and structure. Lamott 's effective persuasion was greatly due to her reflection on the writing process that writers go through and at the same time informing her audience the importance of first drafts. Most people assume that accomplished writers can easily write something they could be proud of, but that is not the case. According to Lamott, all good writers write a not–so–good first drafts and "this is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific third drafts" (Lamott, 191). For the most part of a writing process, mistakes will be made and it will most likely not contain everything the author wants to say. Lamott addressed new writers that the first draft is where writers assemble their ideas making it the most important step to a writing. Lamott pointed out many times that first drafts will not be ... I believe that when writers are able to become comfortable forming their own opinions in their writing in a writer–centric environment, they will be more likely to succeed in doing so with writing that has an intended audience. I believe this line of thinking or pedagogical approach will work best for developing writers, as it focuses less on the technical side of writing and more on the content– or being able to realize their own ... • 12. HTML5 And The Future Of Technical Documentation HTML5 and the Future of Technical Documentation By: Jessica Morley May 2015 Introduction: A Crossroad in History T echnical writing is at a crossroad in history. Gone are the days when people read technical documentation from print in manuals, books, inserts, or pamphlets. Likewise, the practice of reading documentation from a CD Rom or desktop software application is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Today, if people want technical information, they go straight to their browsers to find what they're looking for. With the advent of handheld smart phones, laptops, and tablets, teamed with the ubiquity of reliable internet connection everywhere, people demand versatile, responsive, and accessible documentation that can meet their information needs. HTML5, the new HTML standard officially recommended in October 2014, is the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) answer to this new age of high –speed on–demand information, and technical writers are beginning to take notice. However, the question remains: should technical writers adapt to this new wave of technology, and if so, to what extent will HTML5 impact the user experience and the technical writing process? Why is this important? Answer I believe it is important to know the gender, income level, age range, culture and marital status of your audience. Knowing these characteristics helps a writer to understand if an audience may be interested in a product or service and how well it would sell. For example, a couple with children may be interested in having a double stroller whereas those are not parents would not besssss. Another example is offering alcohol at a restaurant in Turkey where it is forbidden. 4) What are some techniques you can use as a writer to make sure your audience understands what you are trying to say?

Accuracy and attention to detail in the content of these reports is essential in treating and determining the progress of our patients. Documentation is the means by which we communicate our treatment to other health professionals and third party payers. In most cases, it is necessary to communicate effectively to others, orally and in writing the status of the patient. In addition, documentation is an important aspect of our field because it conveys the status and condition of the patient and our plan and evaluation of said condition to other caregivers. Medical records will be read by the doctors, nurses and in some cases by those submitting payment to the insurance companies. It is important that as occupational therapy students we develop documentation skills early and continue to refine these skills throughout our careers. In order to implement the guidelines for excellent technical communication, we need to remember the three major reasons to be honest as a communicator. First, we must keep in mind that technical communication is not about using words and pictures to mislead or lie to people. It is about helping people understand how to make wise choices.
