Textiles Hsc External Internal and Factors and...
1) Factors that influence the success or failure of designers include both internal and external factors. Identify and describe two internal and external
factors.
Internal factors: Expertise
Designers may develop their skills by completing courses at TAFE or university in design and / or manufacture. Other designers are self–taught and
gain their skills through on–the–job training. Depending on the size of the company, designers may work alone or collaborate as a member of a team
working towards a common design goal. To be successful, all designers must have an understanding of the market place in order to ensure their final
products meet a consumer need or want.

2) Choose one contemporary designer and describe their sources of inspiration.
Contemporary designer: Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou 's spring 2011 collection was one to be remembered. Her first inspiration for the collection was the highly stylised photography of
Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin. She was looking at 1970s images of women in incredible interiors when she came up with the idea that the
interiors were just as important as the models. "I want to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room", Katrantzou said referring
to the show. Katrantzou is a master of digital printing when it comes to her garments, and she used it to her advantage. The photographs printed
onto the pieces were inspired by old issues of Architectural Digest and World of interiors. Photographs of the most expensive homes were recreated
onto her pieces in a vivid and symmetrical way and the images seen depict a perspective and quality that make them appear real and inviting. She
made her pieces as 3D as the room itself. She added accessories to the garments in the form of interior details, such as a neckline as a window frame,
swaths of chiffon as curtains, lampshades with dangling crystal tassels and wall sconces reconfigured as necklaces.
Katrantzou 's Fall 2010 RTW collection took her expertise in digital printing one step further. This time, however, this collection was inspired more
from the "woman in the room", the designer said, "it

Meaningless Logotherapy Essay
Viktor Frankl was, in a sense, a trifecta of a man; a psychiatrist, psychologist and a philosopher. A profound humanist, his originality facilitated his
approach to the raw human soul. His survivals through his personal experience in a Nazi concentration camp in the Holocaust greatly influenced and
shaped his discovery of logotherapy; a therapeutic approach onto the 'pre–reflective ontological self–understanding', this aspect is acquired through all
human beings. During Frankl's time in the Nazi concentration camp, he discovered that those who had not lost their sense of purpose and life's reason
survived longer than those who had given up all together. Frankl based his logotherapy on the idea that all human beings are motivated to find their
"life meaning". He attributed human existence to being intended for other outside distractions, rather than the self. Through "self–transcendence",
people yearn to discover personal meaning and reason. These two facets are fundamental for human realization and purpose; without them people lean
towards pleasure seeking fulfillments, such as materialism, power, and neurotic compulsions. Frankl based his research on the strong correlation

The phenomenological examination directs a person further from a mental dimension to 'unconscious logos', this is called "unconscious religiousness"
which is a covert relation to transcendence. This, according to Frankl, is innate to all human beings and it is intentionally referent to what some may
refer to as "God". Frankl believed in steering clear from underestimating the human perspective. Logotherapy requires existential analysis as a scientific
basis; the quest for meaning is conversed and identified through therapy. Frankl also argued that inherent religiousness remains unknown if not
inhibited in most people

Are the Stories from the Holocaust Survivors with PTSD...
This investigation will answer the question To what extent are the stories from the Holocaust survivors with PTSD reliable as historical sources?
This question is important because there are still holocaust survivors alive today, and their stories are arguably the ones that teach us he most about
the Holocaust, since they are primary sources of the event. The survivors dealt with a lot of physical and emotional trauma while in the camps, so it
would be easy for them to procure PTSD. The mental illness PTSD can make it harder for the survivors to talk about certain events, because it could
increase the symptoms of the illness. With this research investigation, it is possible to analyze whether the stories from the Holocaust survivors are ...

Analysis Of Viktor Sklovsky: Art As Device
Viktor Shklovsky: "Art as Technique" or "Art as Device" Viktor Borisovich Shklovsky (1893
–1984) was one of the founders of the intellectual
movement OPOJAZ (ObЕЎДЌestvo izuДЌenija PoГЁtiДЌeskogo Jazyka), also known as "Society for the Study of Poetic Language". Furthermore,
Shklovsky was a brilliant critic, closely tied to Russian Formalism and he became one of the most noted figures in the Formalist movement in the early
twentieth century; "Shklovsky, Boris Eichenbaum, [Vladimir Propp], Yary Tynyanov, and other Formalists sought to put literary theory on a par with
the natural sciences" (Davis 51). For one thing, these gentlemen sought to understand art by breaking it down into parts and identifying the different

concepts of defamiliarization and device, and "argues against the centrality of "images"" (Davis 51). Moreover, in Shklovsky's essay "Art as
Technique" he addresses the general laws of perception, and states that; "We see that as perception becomes habitual, it becomes automatic" (Davis
55). By giving examples, Shklovsky tries to explain his criticism and ideas, additionally he claims that: "The purpose of art is to impart the sensation
of things as they are perceived and not as they are known" (Davis 55). What did the Russian critic Viktor Shklovsky mean with ostranenie, the Russian
word usually translated as defamiliarization, however literally translated as "making strange". This essay explores Shklovsky's concept of

Victor Frankl 's Man 's Search For Meaning
Introduction Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning is a very popular script and has great renown in the world of psychology. It has been said
that the book should be a mandatory reading for all up and coming psychology students and professors alike. The book supplies valuable insight
into logotherapy as well as Freud's theory of psychoanalysis and is inspirational to all those who read it. It has been said that the riveting tale will
"make a difference in your life". The book and Frankl's ideas debate that people are not driven by desires but by the meaning that they discover and
place on their own lives and the task of fulfilling that meaning. In Man's Search for Meaning Frankl outlines three phases or versions of meaning that
all people must go through. The following report will summarize the story of Viktor Frankl as well as analyze the three main points of the book.
Summary
Man's Search for Meaning gives detail of Victor Frankl's experiences in a concentration camp and his attempts to understand and overcome the trauma
that came along with it. The book is made up of three parts: Experiences in a Concentration Camp, logotherapy in a Nutshell, and finally, Postscript
1984: The Case for Tragic Optimism ("Man's Search for Meaning"). Victor Frankl was born in 1905 and later in his adult life, became a psychiatrist
and moved to Vienna. Frankl was of Jewish decent, yet was protected for some time by the Nazis because of his work as a therapist and doctor ("Man's

Man's Search For Meaning By Victor Frankl
MSFM Essay From his book "Man's Search for Meaning", Victor Frankl has proven from overcoming one of the most daunting, horrendous human
experiences that he is not only very intelligent, but has one of the strongest sets of a heart and mind this world has ever seen. What's most
incredible to me is that he not only made it through the center of the deadliest world war and endured the highest form of human mental and
physical suffering, he had the strength and will to write about it. What I really enjoyed the most about Frankl in his story was his unique, first
person view of the world around him and his efforts to relay the realities of that world in the most objective way possible. It's as if he knew he
would one day have to deliver his experience to the world so he made a choice to use his intellect and imagination from the start of his experiences. I
can't even begin to imagine what he and other holocaust survivors endured, even more so choosing to re–live every second of those memories after the
experience by writing a book about them. It seems, from his writings, he made the difficult decision to write the book because of his concluding that
having an account to his experiences for the people of the world to look upon and learn from was more important than the intense mental strife the
process of writing the book would have on him. For that I greatly respect this author and educator for if it weren't for his strength we would not have

The Russian Invasion Of The Ukraine
The Russian Invasion of the Ukraine The conflict and subsequent invasion of the Ukraine by Russia came as a surprise to many people in the world,
including to the United States intelligence community. This surprise move by the Russian government caused many members of Congress to point the
blame at the intelligence community for failing to accurately predict this move, thus limiting the United States and NATOs ability to respond in a
timely manner. But was there really an intelligence failure or was this action something that was unforeseeable? Even if there were indicators, would
anyone have been able to stop the invasion? In this paper we will take a look at what events led up to the invasion, what intelligence indicators were
available that could have been used to identify prior to the invasion, what the United States intelligence community could have done differently, and if
that would have made a difference in the outcome. Tensions in the region began when the Ukrainian government decided against the agreement with
the European Union (EU) in fall of 2013. This was not just a trade agreement, but also a political agreement that committed Ukraine to adhere to certain
European values and principles. Following this decision, rampant protests combined with increasing corruption within the government spurred chaos
and unrest within the region drawing the attention of the Russian Government (BBC 2014). By January 2014, the protests became violent as

Man's Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl
A successful life is a satisfied life. In order to become successful, you must keep a positive attitude. You must be able to take control of your attitude and
flip situations, turning something bad into a learning experience. Turn any and every given situation into a situation you can benefit from, rather than
dwelling on the fact that things might not be working out in your favor, or how you imagined. Exercising your ultimate freedom to control your attitude
in any situation will lead you to a successful life. Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl wrote the award–winning
book, Man's Search for Meaning in which he talks about his experience in a concentration camp located in Auschwitz during World War II. He
describes his psychotherapeutic method that involved identifying a purpose in life to feel positive as he controlled his attitude during the horrific times
and imagined the outcome. Viktor Frankl demonstrates this idea throughout the book, saying things such as, "When we are no longer able to change a
situation, we are challenged to change ourselves" (Frankl 81) which illustrates the idea that when a situation is out of one's control to change, he must
then change his own perspective on the situation. Frankl also stated, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human
freedoms–to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." (Frankl 69). This quote is an

Man's Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl
Man's Search for Meaning is an autobiography written by Viktor E. Frankl. Once a free man who had never been identified as a human, he was
now seen as just a number. Facing many obstacles, fears around him shows that he's a strong, encouraging man that cares about others, even if he's
not feeling the greatest. There's days that he wants to give up, but the only hope he has left is his wife waiting for him. Frankl identifies three
different stages in the camp life, now his life. When he first got there everything was just a shock, the second stage was apathy right after adapting to
camp, as for the third stage was depersonalization. All of these situations happened through out his three years in prison. Being there makes Frankl
stronger, not physically but emotionally because if he would've wanted to become a capo and get treated better than the other prisoners he could've.
He had the power in his hands to say no and be the change. Being a well educated professional psychiatrist everything happening to him was so ordeal
and was so careful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for certain things to happen. Right there and then, hope makes you vivid just imagining what your
future could be even greater. His mates needed it as soon as possible when as one of the prisoners said to another, "How beautiful the world could
be!" Frankl 40. Encouraging them and giving them hope that all of them are in the same situation and later on in life when they get out of there how
they'll be mimicking all those capos and just joking about it as if things had been not that bad. That pep talks before stepping onto a field was the sort
of motivation, hope, that Frankl would give his mates every single day. To not lose faith and keep striving for greatness no matter the circumstances
they are all in. Without hope there's no reason to look up to tomorrow. They all want their freedom back. It great times of needs and desperation is

Conclusion
Thus, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is only at the initial stage of its development, there are obvious problems, but there is progress. After just
five years since its foundation, it is developing a high–level cooperation in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism. There is the potential
for qualitative steps in the fight against the drug menace, successfully developing economic cooperation, signed many important documents are created
and continue to create the necessary structures and mechanisms for their implementation. For the SCO there is still much to do and decide, but it is
already clear, the organization becomes a powerful and effective international institution that attracts the eyes from all around the globe, it is gradually
turning into an important tool of international politics and security.
In recent years there have been many discussions and comments on the geopolitical nature of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Matthew
Brummer in the Journal of international affairs, monitors the effects of the expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Persian Gulf.
Iranian writer Hamid Golpira said: "According to the theory of Zbigniew Brzezinski , control the Eurasian continent is the key to world domination,
and control over Central Asia is the key to control of the Eurasian continent. Russia and China have drawn attention to Brzezinski 's theory, since they

Logotherapy: Man's Search For Meaning
Man's Search for Meaning is a sentimental memoir about the struggles of a psychologist during the holocaust as a victim, and how he eventually
developed logotherapy, a form of therapy, from his observations. The first portion of the memoir affected me the most because his first time doing even
the basic activities like bathing were filled with fear and terror. Frankl's use of imagery to describe his fear and the events that occurred lets the readers
sympathize with the victims. The facts he stated throughout the memoir really helped me understand the gravity of the situation he was in. This
memoir has taught me that the challenges and other difficulties in life can help you later in life. Another lesson this memoir has taught me is that

Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict
The conflict stems from the result of the Government's decision to turn down the European Union proposed "association agreement" in 2013 and
instead Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir
Putin. For years Ukrainians have yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade and economic ties with Western European countries.
President Yanukovych's decision to reject the EU's proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further solidified the sentiment
that their government was strengthening ties with Russia and not with the west. President Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the Ukrainian
people, forcing them to condemn and denounce their corrupt government and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an already fractured
society into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their disapproval. In response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military
personnel to move into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. Clashes between opposition and the government slowly escalated
over a two month period, in February the death toll for protesters in the city of Kiev rose into the hundreds. On February 21 members of the opposition
overtook the capital and the Presidents Yanukovych residence, forcing him to flee to Russia to avoid charges by the opposition of murdering protesters.

From reading both 'The Four Agreements' by Don Miguel Ruiz and 'Man's Search for Meaning' by Viktor Frankl I have a better sense of

unavoidable suffering. As a young person, I less advanced in life and less enlightened by the experience. I can't image how many painful memories
that he had, and I don't know in what dilemma he found the meaning of lives. Undoubtedly, Frankl noticed the value of his life, and his difficult life

What Does Man's Search For Meaning Mean
Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning is an incredibly influential novel. Frankl's novel has inspired so many people and has positively affected
many by showing them that something unwanted could have a good effect in the long run. Viktor Frankl wrote this book nine days after he was
released from Auschwitz, a Nazi Death Camp located in Poland, in 1945. While the novel is heartbreaking, it is very moving and definitely still worth
the read. Because Frankl was a psychiatrist, he analyzed his awful situation through a scientific lens and also explained psychological reactions of
inmates and, ultimately, theorized the meaning of life. Man's Search For Meaning is so significant because of its historical importance, strong emotion,
and identification of life's purpose and it "could be described as one of the most important popular books of the 20th century" (Meinertsen). Man's
Search for Meaning starts out with Frankl describing his journey to an unknown location. When he and the other prisoners find out they have been
transported to Auschwitz, everyone's heart misses a beat. This kind... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before he says what life's meaning is, he explains the steps that are needed to gain this knowledge. Firstly, attitude is a huge part of Frankl's theory.
To Frankl, being a prisoner was an unavoidable hardship and the only way for him to survive was to accept his life for what it had become. His
perspective allowed him to outlive other prisoners and live to get rescued. The prisoners who lost hope were not as fortunate as Frankl. At Frankl's
lowest points, he thought about his accomplishments, dreams, and his wife. He discovered that the meaning of his suffering was for the greater good
of mankind. While sections of the story and touching, they can also be very heartbreaking and make an argument as a weakness in the novel. Some

Introduction The purpose of this reaction paper is to introduce the reader to my early perceptions of my own personal style and theory of counseling.
At this early stage in my training, I would attest to the fact that this is not as easy as it may sound, particularly when I am still being acquainted with
the multitude of counseling theories and style frameworks since the inception of the counseling field. That said, since it is a necessity of this paper as
required by this course in Introduction to Counseling Techniques, I would venture to say that an eclectic approach would be my early adopted
framework. Obviously, since Carl Rogers' person–centered theoretical approach is inherent in modern counseling techniques, it is an early part... Show

On the other hand, a disadvantage of person–centered therapy may be that it becomes an endless back and forth between the same small, never
changing ball of players; core conditions, actualizing tendency, frame of reference, or locus of evaluation (Biles, 2016). In my estimation of what Biles
stipulated in the paraphrase above, he feels as though the core conditions of person–centered therapy (e.g. 1. Psychological contact; 2. Client
incongruence, 3; Therapist congruence; 4. Therapist unconditional positive regard; 5. Therapist empathy; and 6. Communication of 4. and 5.) are
somewhat artificial, dogmatic and insufficient (in isolation) for client change (Biles, 2016). In other words, person–centered theory implies that the
techniques of other therapies are relatively unimportant except to the extent they serve as channels for fulfilling the core therapeutic conditions of
person–centered therapy (Biles, 2016). Rogers himself wrote a short paper in which he proclaimed that his theory has often been seriously
misunderstood. Essentially, reflecting on the fact that people have turned the core conditions into "shoulds" or "musts"; you "should" be empathetic, or
you "must" have unconditional positive regard. It is not as though you can tell yourself to be empathetic and immediately be there. What Rogers said, if

Tension in Ukraine began to rise when then the president Viktor Yanukovych rejected a deal proposed by the European Union regarding trade

His main motivations are ideology, social base and economic stimulus.
Putin has long upheld a KGB style Cold War mentality mixed with Conservatism of Russian thinkers from early twentieth century such as Berdyaev,
Solovyov and Ilyin. All of these thinkers, in one way or another, were patriots as well as socialists and wanted Russia to be independent from any
western ideas which they claimed were manipulative in a sense that, western ideas would shape rest of the world for their own interests. The mixture of
ideas presented by these thinkers is exactly what Putin needs to unite the legacies of both the Russian and Soviet empires into a solid path dependant
ideology. This ideology roughly says that Western countries spread some liberal and deleterious ideas essentially hostile to Russia's tradition, and
deliberately aims to destroy Russia's historically unique culture that combines autocracy, orthodoxy and Slavic brotherhood. For this reason, Putin has
no other choice but to protect the historical Russian borders from such civilization challenge.
Putin has retained his 'thug' image from his time in Leningrad. This 'thug' image still shows today through his vocabulary, the criminal bureaucratic
system he built in Russia and his bold aggressive behavior on the international stage. Putin has gained a lot of support from presenting himself in this
way, albeit mainly from the middle class and Russian elites. His

Essay on Expand Ukraine’s Political Ambitions
The month of November in Ukraine was interesting, to say the least. Politically, the Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych attempts to reform
amending bills, while also socially ignoring the decline in press freedom. However, a major noteworthy article appeared on the stands: Ukraine goes
offshore. This article is probably one of the most important events that occurred in November, which discusses revenue lost on offshore tax schemes. As
an attempt to electronically expand Ukraine's political ambitions, Viktor Yanukovychpassed a recent bill early in November that will allow votes in the
Parliament to be conducted by an electronic card (Ukrainian). Although not technically monumental, the bill will allow members of Parliament an easier

He even goes as far as to say, "the written press is as it was before" (AFP). The information associated with Google's article, "President denies
problem with Ukraine press freedom", discusses the television networks across Ukraine as experiencing horrendous mishaps, such as the censoring
of broadcasts and the removal of episodes that go against the regulations transpired by the president. If Yanukovych does not approve of the media
associated with the press, he opposes the spreading of the ideas. Unfortunately, Yanukovych seems to acknowledge the fact that he will only allow
production of news, journals, pictures, etc., if they portray the truth. The truth, in fact, is quite limited by the strict regulations Yanukovych orders
Ukraine's networking companies to follow. As this issue is heightened by Yanukovych's disapproval and lack of understanding, I definitely am
worried for the social state of the nation. As someone living in a free nation, I understand the social liberties that are given to a nation, and how it
allows people to globalize their social understandings. Once Ukraine becomes socially deteriorated by Yanukovych's policies, Ukraine will suffer with
various downfalls in freedom. I am a strong opponent to this ordeal for these reasons. I feel that Yanukoyvch continues to fear opposition and removal

Ardent states that "This atmosphere of madness, and unreality, created by an apparent lack of purpose, is the real iron curtain which hides all forms of
concentration camps from the eyes of the world."(131). Ardent's statement means that the Nazi's were not the only ones who created a type of
concentration camp. In America concentration camps were called slavery, and American's deemed slavery as a lesser evil than the concentration camps
simply because they did not slaughter their slaves needlessly. According to Ardent, "The concentration
–camp inmate has no price, because he can
always be replaced" while a slave "had a definite price and as property a definite value"(131). Yet that is the effects of the iron curtain working on
American's; justifying their use of slaves because their slaves held value while the concentration camp inmate had none. American's blinded
themselves to the problem with slavery simply because they did not wish to feel any guilt because of their actions; yet, in both situations if a slave or
an inmate in the concentration camp was no longer able to work they were killed. Their lives held no other meaning besides providing labor and work
for their "masters".
This creates an endless cycle of conformity and authority that is nearly impossible to break. We can see this cycle when we drive around town or even

with Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty six years after independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted
economy inherited from former and first President Leonid Kravchuk. Leonid Kuchma, the country's second president, only fared slightly better than his
predecessor but soon faltered. Kuchma was accused by the opposition of immoderately conceding to Russian economic interests. What's more,

One of Russia's most well–known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea. With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand
its influence, how will this affect Ukraine's sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting to
dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian policymakers passed a legislation that empowered
universities with more autonomy with their curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved in the
design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors (Freedom House 2016).
The Electoral System Ukraine's next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for 2019. A mixed election system is utilized to elect the
450 legislative seats. 225 members of parliament are elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold from single
member districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through proportional representation. In order for a party to be successful they must
acquire a minimum of 5 percent of the votes. On Election Day, Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their local representative and
political party (Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary systems coalitions are imperative for victory. One of the most notable aspects

Russian Vladimir Putin Addressed The World Concerning The...
March 18, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the world regarding the annexation of Crimea. A referendum that took place only days
before resulted in an 82% turnout rate, with over 90% of the ballots casting in favor of Crimea's reunification with Russia ("History: What does
Crimea," 2014). Many questioned the reasoning behind Russia's sudden need to reestablish its hold on Crimea; legally a Ukrainian territory. The
Russian– Ukrainian relationship dates back to the ninth to the mid–thirteenth century in the Eastern Slavic state of Kievan Rus; an area that expanded
from the Baltic to the Black Sea (Bates, 2014). The two countries have been linked to each other for centuries; they share a similar culture and sense of

By losing Ukraine to its independence, Russia lost thousands of armed forces and military equipment; this coupled with the effect the separation had on
Russia's trade agreements with Europe meant that Russia was left weak, and economically unstable. It was one of the biggest partitioned nations in the
world. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in December of 1991, Russia was left in a fragile state, especially after getting accustomed to being
treated as a world superpower; its' sphere of influence significantly declined. Russians see this as a time of economic and political instability leaving
them vulnerable to the West (Larrabee, 2010), one of its biggest reservations being the potential for a Western stronghold along its international border.
Because of its weakened state, much of Russia's distress towards Western policies was noticeably dismissed.
Despite having unwaveringly opposed NATO's expansion to include previously Russian territories such as Ukraine and Georgia (Mearsheimer, 2014),
in the mid 1990s, the Clinton administration openly disregarded Russia's concerns by pushing for NATO's expansion towards previous members of the
Soviet Union. By 2004, Latvia, Romania, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and many more were admitted to NATO (Mearsheimer, 2014). This raised
numerous concerns in Moscow as Putin had made it clear that Russia would not tolerate NATO's enlargement into Russia's most

The Media and THe Ucranie Crisis Essay
This paper will discuss the dominant political ideologies presented in news coverage regarding the Ukraine crisis. Tensions within Ukraine started
escalating in November of 2013 when Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych rejected a European Union trade deal and accepted a loan offered by
Russia to relieve Ukraine's financial strain (Hepburn, 2014). Many Ukrainian's want a European trade deal to strengthen European relations and
eliminate their ties with the Russian government (Hepburn, 2014). Civilians protested Ukraine's decision to reject the European trade deal in Kiev's

The concept of restoration is used because it justifies Putin's activities and criticizes the West for preventing growth in Ukraine. The use ofconservatism
justifies Russia's actions because conservatism favours the elite like Putin. The coverage presents conservatism through Putin's quotations. Thus, the
reader must consider that Putin is biased in his assessment of Ukraine's crisis and Russia's involvement in Ukraine. Similarly to MacKinnon's article
"Putin digs in on Crimea as West moves to isolate Russia," a news column from the alternative news source Rabble, presents tory conservatism but
differs from MacKinnon's article because Rabble's news column portrays neo–liberalism as well. The column "Ukraine power play: What's at stake?"
by Duncan Cameron has a conservative perspective because the article indicates the importance of a strong state by suggesting Ukraine's lack of
political and economic strength caused Ukraine's crisis (Cameron, 2014). Suggestion of a strong state indicates that the coverage does not portray
classical liberalism, as classical liberalism ignores the concept of a strong nation. Moreover, the coverage criticizes Russia's excessive power over
Crimea, indicating the coverage's support of the conservative concept of a limited state (Cameron, 2014). The concepts of a strong and limited state are

Man's Search For Meaning
In Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, the author describes his experiences of surviving the Holocaust. But his novel varies from other stories,
he presents the mental side consequences prisoners faced. He explained, "Life in a concentration camp tore open the human soul and expose it
depths,"(Frankl 87). Prisoners like himself needed hope to survive, which was hard to do. Frankl's biggest contribution is his theory humans have the
power to control their emotions and chose how they react.
The Holocaust had such a huge impact on the world, millions of Jews died. Frankl sheds light on how he survived both mentally and physically in his
novel. His theory of emotional freedom contributes the most to society. Frankl survived because he chose his own emotions and reaction to his
situation. This ground–breaking theory has potential to change someone's perspective on how they live their life and is why I believe it is so important.
Frankl's theory of emotional freedom is a powerful statement. He theorizes humans have the power to choose how they react to situations. A person
may not have the power to change a stimulus in their life, but they have the power to modify their response to the stimulus. A person must choose to
change themselves when a situation they are involved in can not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Man's Search For Meaning
Man's Search for Meaning is written by Viktor E. Frankl. Frankl is a psychiatrist and wrote a memoir on his life in the Holocaust work camps. Frankl
was in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his family and pregnant wife perished. Surviving the Holocaust was truly an incredible
journey. Throughout the book the main theme was that humans cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how we respond to it. We can cope with our
suffering, find meaning within it, and we can move forward. Frankl said, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human
freedoms–to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way" (Frankl 75). Given Frankl's circumstances, this quote

My family was going to adopt a three year old girl, but things didn't turn out how we would've wanted. She moved in with my family, but we hadn't
officially adopted her yet. Initially, things were going well and we were all excited to add another member to our family. I was excited to finally
have a little sister and was looking forward to watching her reach milestones in her life. After a few weeks we began to notice changes occurring. She
was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder which caused her to get angry at my younger brother when he showed any affection to my mom.
She would scream for hours and couldn't calm herself down. Things didn't get better and my parents determined that it wasn't a good idea to continue
with the adoption. She was adopted by a wonderful couple who have since adopted 3 more kids. After reading Man's Search for Meaning I realized that
I had been viewing the situation in a wrong way. The book inspired me to revaluate the situation. I realized that I had been viewing the failed
adoption as a negative event rather than looking for the positives that happened. We were able to provide a loving and safe home for three months of
a young girl's life. I learned the value of family and how grateful I was to have two parents that support me and love me unconditionally. Frankl

Frankl Concentration Camp
Prior to World War II, Viktor Frankl was a somewhat successful therapist. Once the war began however, he was sent off to an Auschwitz
concentration camp. Everyone in concentration camps had one wish, to stay alive (Frankl 15). Whether they tried to get on the good side of the
warden, or attempt an escape, everyone had a different way to survive. Many prisoners died while at camps, but some of them who were hopeful
and courageous made it out. Inspired by these prisoners, Frankl created logotherapy to help other find meaning in their own lives. Traveling by train
to a concentration camp, Viktor Frankl spent his last hours in his own clothes, and with his own things. Upon arrival, he and his fellow prisoners
were stripped of everything; luggage, clothing, jewelry, and even the hair off their bodies. Frankl lost the last piece of his life, a manuscript of his
ideas that he had been working on for quite some time (Frankl 23). No only did the prisoners lose everything, they had to completely change the way
they lived. They wore the same clothes for months, rarely washed themselves, and slept in terrible sleeping... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these prisoners had a reason to get out of the camp. They had a relative to see, or a study to continue, and that gave them the strength and
bravery to make it through their days. For Frankl, it was to re–write a manuscript he lost when he first came to camp. When he was liberated, he
created his new theory of logohterapy. Logo therapy is a psychotherapy based on meaning. (Frankl 104). It centers itself around the future and what is
in store for the patient. Unlike psychoanalysis, which allow patients to wallow in their egotistical suffering, logptherapy requires its patients to be
strong. They have to listen to things they may not hear, and accept them for what they are (Frankl

Frankl trusted that in spite of the fact that the Nazi 's could force much suffering on him, could rid of his family, and could detain him, they could

conduct and be in charge of it. My aim is neither to abridge the book for you, nor to clarify the ideas of existential treatment, so I will move here to
my evaluation and reaction to Frankl 's book. To start with, I need to repeat that this book is a superb read. For anybody new to the outrages of a
death camp, the tale of human triumph even with such barbarities alone is justified regardless of the read. It also gives a rule to engage people to
take liability for their life, and to make importance in it. It gives a model of living over the impact of condition. The initial stage is portrayed by the
indication of shock. Frankl speaks of his entry via train at the notorious Auschwitz, when he and his kindred detainees ' underlying stun and
frightfulness rapidly offered a path to the condition known as the "delusion of reprieve", the conviction that they would be spared at last, that things
couldn 't be as horrendous as they appeared. Frankl portrays how, not for the last time, he sat tight for destiny to follow through to its logical end as
the detainees proceeded remaining before a SS officer who coolly guided them toward the right, which implied they looked physically and

The contrast between the views of the East Ukraine population who traditionally feels close to Russia and of the more pro–Europe leaning West Ukraine
citizens, was exacerbated by recent events. After its independence, Ukraine became a new democracy but this came with a seemingly corrupt
government. The 2004 parliamentary elections that brought Viktor Yanukovychinto power were accused of being rigged. This election sparked the
Orange Revolution which ousted Yanukovych out of power temporarily until his return in 2010. Although underlying tensions could always be felt, the
real spark was then ignited in November 2013 when pro–Russian President, Yanukovych, rejected a deal for greater integration with theEuropean Union
and decided to accept a $15 billion economic package from Russia instead. That decision gave rise to antigovernment demonstrations that escalated over
the following three months and eventually resulted in the eviction of Yanukovych on February 20. Putin accused the West of instigating and funding
the protests which he saw as a threat to Russia's security. In retaliation, and using the ostensible reason that he wanted to protect the Ethnic Russian
inhabitants, Putin ordered Russian forces to take the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine, and soon after that, he incorporated it into Russia. He then

land described as the Crimean Peninsula was under Russian control, not Ukraine's. On February 21st 2014, the Ukrainian President fled the capital and

has with the Western World, specifically the United States, The European Union consisting of 28 nations, Norway, Canada and Australia. The stricter

Ukraine After The Soviet Union
Ukraine was once a kingdom for the Slavic peoples, but over time gradually became a part of Russia and known for being its breadbasket. Despite
having very similar cultures, Ukraine was distinctly different than Russia in its dialect and traditions. Ukraine finally achieved its autonomy from
Russia during the 1990s while the Soviet Union crumbled. Despite their dreams becoming true, Ukraine was hardly prepared for the economic
demands of a state. Unable to cope with a growing demand on the government for services, it acquired its revenue from printing currency, a grave
mistake that caused hyperinflation. Soon, the economy was fragile and susceptible to outside influence. Thus began Ukraine 's slow descent into

Thus, it began printing more and more money. Hyperinflation began as manufacturing output plummeted and more currency flooded the markets.
Ukraine also suffered a lack of access to financial markets and its government implemented risky monetary policy. In response to the inflating
value of the karbovanets, the old currency, the Ukrainian central bank replaced it in 1996 with the hryvnia, pledging to keep it stable in relation to
the US dollar. It experienced moderate growth during the 2000s leading up to the recession in 2008 despite inflation damaging export
competitiveness. After the collapse, in 2011 the central bank ceded over $28 billion to keep the hryvnia afloat, but let it go in April 2014. Now the
question for Ukraine is: If its currency has failed and depreciated, how will it successfully pay its debts to creditors? First, the IMF offered $15
billion in 2010 with conditions attached, much akin to the Venezuelan austerity measures from the IMF loan. Kyiv declined to take the loan, as it
would have hurt the civilians with higher energy prices due to Ukraine 's lower production and prices of gasoline domestically. With such a crippled
economy, including a potential booming sector for energy production and tax–evading companies coupled with corrupt politicians allowing illegal
activity, it is no wonder that the citizens are upset. Creditors have recently asked for the

Life In The Iron Mills Analysis
It always begins with a promise. A promise for better living conditions, higher wage, more opportunities, etc. This is when hope is established within
an hard working individual. In the video, "New England cotton mills" and the reading, "Life in the Iron Mills", there are similarities in regards to
working conditions, solidarity among workers, and owner attitudes. Both mills show identifiable occasions of mistreatment of workers, although there
are clear differences in quality and benefits offered by each institution. The purpose of this essay is to compare discuss issues of worker mistreatment,
solidarity, class, and fulfillment of everyday life in regards to work.
In "Life in the Iron Mills", by Rebecca Harding Davis, worker treatment and employer attitude is quite negative throughout the story. Deborah and
Hugh do not have the benefits that were offered to workers of other mills such as the workers mentioned in the New England mills video. They were
simply given a low wage and expected to survive in poor living conditions. The narrator would describe the iron mill workers as "Masses of men,
with dull, besotted faces bent to the ground, sharpened here and there by pain or cunning; skin and muscle and flesh begrimed with smoke and ashes",
which is completely different in comparison to the clean linens that were provided to the cotton mill workers. Worker treatment was similar in the
cotton mills as in the iron mills because the workers often felt undervalued. A lack of

Synthesis Essay Viktor E. Frankl didn't grow up living a easy life. During World War II he spent 3 years in various concentration camps, including
Theresienstadt, Auschwitz, and Dachau. Viktor has a life story to tell. Concentration Camps were a place where large numbers of people,
especially political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities,
sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass execution. Frankl may have survived the holocaust but coming out of it he was not the same

Renowned Psychiatrist and author, Viktor E. Frankl, chronicles his imprisonment and survival in Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps
throughout his memoir, Man's Search for Meaning. Frankl describes his life in captivity during the holocaust and how he overcame grotesque and
egregious circumstances by surviving through spiritual composure. Frankl's theory logotherapy, is the certitude that humans are compelled to seek
meaning in one's life over the drive for pleasure. His theory has contributed greatly to the study of leadership and influenced the lives of individuals
by aiding them in the search for meaning and purpose. Last of The Human Freedoms Frankl describes the last of the human freedoms as the choice
of one's attitude in any situation or circumstance along with the freedom to select one's path from then forward. His view embodies the idea that no
matter the hardships one encounters, it is always possible to overcome and prosper based solely on one's perspective. I agree with Frankl's view of the
last of the human freedoms particularly due to his concept regarding suffering. Suffering is regretfully inevitable, however we may choose how to

Existential Psychotherapy Is Based Upon The Fundamental...
Existential psychotherapy is based upon the fundamental belief that each individual experiences psychological and emotional difficulties. These
psychological and emotional difficulties are viewed as inner conflicts due to his or her interaction with certain conditions inherent in human existence
called givens. The theory recognizes at least four primary existential givens: freedom and associated responsibility, death, isolation, meaninglessness
(Corey, 2017, pp. 144). In therapy, the client discovers how to incorporate the paradoxes around these concerns, and thereby increase tolerance of the
anxiety that may be associated with them. Personal responsibility and choice is emphasized, and focus is more on the 'here and now'. Increased
mindful awareness is crucial in becoming more healthy and fully functioning. A confrontation with any of these givens fills an individual with
existential anxiety. This anxiety is thought to reduce a person's psychological, physical, social, and spiritual awareness, which may lead to significant
long–term consequences. For example, many individuals have learned throughout their lives that each human being and their loved ones will
eventually die, but the day and time this will happen to anyone is unknown. The fact that this information is unknown may bring people tremendous
feelings of anxiety which may lead certain people to ignore the present reality and become fixated on death and human existence. However, through
existential therapy it is

Communism And The Soviet Union
Have you ever had a case of the hiccups that you just couldn't seem to get rid of? You tried all the tricks in the book, from holding your breath, to
standing upside down, but those pestering hiccups still stuck around? In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the hiccups,
during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn't your average case of the hiccups, these hiccups were called communism.
Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most post–Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies. However,
the transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not necessarily a smooth one for most of the Eastern European countries.
Decades of oppressive Soviet rule and deep–rooted communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut. Ukraine, in particular,
struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that struggle is still continuing today. In the form of a corrupt government and
pro–Russian supporters in South and Eastern Ukraine, roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that they are still trying to
maneuver. In analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing transition to a liberal democracy, it is important to start in 1990, when
Ukraine officially declared independence. This declaration included principles of self–determination, democracy, and the priority of Ukrainian law over
Soviet law.

The Rise of Colonies and the Causes of Revolutions
Imperialism is known as taking over the political and military aspects of a territory and colonialism is the movement of a large amount of people

Essentially logotherapy is described to be, "a will to meaning" (99). He believed that, "striving to find a meaning in one's life is the primary
motivational force in man." (99). His approach to this idea is based on three psychological and philosophical concepts: meaning of life, will to meaning
and freedom of will. According to Frankl, "We can discover this meaning in life in three different ways: by creating a work or doing a deed; by
experiencing something or encountering someone; and by the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering" and that "everything can be taken from a
man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances". Logotherapy can be very useful not
just in my life, but any person's. Isn't this what most people want to figure out anyways? Their meaning in life, their place and contribution that will
give everlasting peace of accomplishment once one grows old. Growing up I was told, "Everything happens for a reason", that different actions
contribute into a larger outcome that us as mere mortals do not understand. But as weak minded people, we break when we begin to suffer. We lose
all hope and will to live. We disagree on the idea that life has meaning and begin to feel like that it just an everlasting void with no point at the

  • 1. Textiles Hsc External Internal and Factors and... 1) Factors that influence the success or failure of designers include both internal and external factors. Identify and describe two internal and external factors. Internal factors: Expertise Designers may develop their skills by completing courses at TAFE or university in design and / or manufacture. Other designers are self–taught and gain their skills through on–the–job training. Depending on the size of the company, designers may work alone or collaborate as a member of a team working towards a common design goal. To be successful, all designers must have an understanding of the market place in order to ensure their final products meet a consumer need or want. Contemporary designer: Mary Katrantzou Mary Katrantzou 's spring 2011 collection was one to be remembered. Her first inspiration for the collection was the highly stylised photography of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin. She was looking at 1970s images of women in incredible interiors when she came up with the idea that the interiors were just as important as the models. "I want to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room", Katrantzou said referring to the show. Katrantzou is a master of digital printing when it comes to her garments, and she used it to her advantage. The photographs printed onto the pieces were inspired by old issues of Architectural Digest and World of interiors. Photographs of the most expensive homes were recreated onto her pieces in a vivid and symmetrical way and the images seen depict a perspective and quality that make them appear real and inviting. She made her pieces as 3D as the room itself. She added accessories to the garments in the form of interior details, such as a neckline as a window frame, swaths of chiffon as curtains, lampshades with dangling crystal tassels and wall sconces reconfigured as necklaces. Katrantzou 's Fall 2010 RTW collection took her expertise in digital printing one step further. This time, however, this collection was inspired more from the "woman in the room", the designer said, "it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Meaningless Logotherapy Essay Viktor Frankl was, in a sense, a trifecta of a man; a psychiatrist, psychologist and a philosopher. A profound humanist, his originality facilitated his approach to the raw human soul. His survivals through his personal experience in a Nazi concentration camp in the Holocaust greatly influenced and shaped his discovery of logotherapy; a therapeutic approach onto the 'pre–reflective ontological self–understanding', this aspect is acquired through all human beings. During Frankl's time in the Nazi concentration camp, he discovered that those who had not lost their sense of purpose and life's reason survived longer than those who had given up all together. Frankl based his logotherapy on the idea that all human beings are motivated to find their "life meaning". He attributed human existence to being intended for other outside distractions, rather than the self. Through "self–transcendence", people yearn to discover personal meaning and reason. These two facets are fundamental for human realization and purpose; without them people lean towards pleasure seeking fulfillments, such as materialism, power, and neurotic compulsions. Frankl based his research on the strong correlation between... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phenomenological examination directs a person further from a mental dimension to 'unconscious logos', this is called "unconscious religiousness" which is a covert relation to transcendence. This, according to Frankl, is innate to all human beings and it is intentionally referent to what some may refer to as "God". Frankl believed in steering clear from underestimating the human perspective. Logotherapy requires existential analysis as a scientific basis; the quest for meaning is conversed and identified through therapy. Frankl also argued that inherent religiousness remains unknown if not inhibited in most people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Are the Stories from the Holocaust Survivors with PTSD... This investigation will answer the question To what extent are the stories from the Holocaust survivors with PTSD reliable as historical sources? This question is important because there are still holocaust survivors alive today, and their stories are arguably the ones that teach us he most about the Holocaust, since they are primary sources of the event. The survivors dealt with a lot of physical and emotional trauma while in the camps, so it would be easy for them to procure PTSD. The mental illness PTSD can make it harder for the survivors to talk about certain events, because it could increase the symptoms of the illness. With this research investigation, it is possible to analyze whether the stories from the Holocaust survivors are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (NIMH RSS. Analysis Of Viktor Sklovsky: Art As Device Viktor Shklovsky: "Art as Technique" or "Art as Device" Viktor Borisovich Shklovsky (1893 –1984) was one of the founders of the intellectual movement OPOJAZ (ObЕЎДЌestvo izuДЌenija PoГЁtiДЌeskogo Jazyka), also known as "Society for the Study of Poetic Language". Furthermore, Shklovsky was a brilliant critic, closely tied to Russian Formalism and he became one of the most noted figures in the Formalist movement in the early twentieth century; "Shklovsky, Boris Eichenbaum, [Vladimir Propp], Yary Tynyanov, and other Formalists sought to put literary theory on a par with the natural sciences" (Davis 51). • 5. Victor Frankl 's Man 's Search For Meaning Introduction Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning is a very popular script and has great renown in the world of psychology. It has been said that the book should be a mandatory reading for all up and coming psychology students and professors alike. The book supplies valuable insight into logotherapy as well as Freud's theory of psychoanalysis and is inspirational to all those who read it. It has been said that the riveting tale will "make a difference in your life". The book and Frankl's ideas debate that people are not driven by desires but by the meaning that they discover and place on their own lives and the task of fulfilling that meaning. In Man's Search for Meaning Frankl outlines three phases or versions of meaning that all people must go through. The following report will summarize the story of Viktor Frankl as well as analyze the three main points of the book. Summary Man's Search for Meaning gives detail of Victor Frankl's experiences in a concentration camp and his attempts to understand and overcome the trauma that came along with it. The book is made up of three parts: Experiences in a Concentration Camp, logotherapy in a Nutshell, and finally, Postscript 1984: The Case for Tragic Optimism ("Man's Search for Meaning"). Victor Frankl was born in 1905 and later in his adult life, became a psychiatrist and moved to Vienna. • 6. Man's Search For Meaning By Victor Frankl MSFM Essay From his book "Man's Search for Meaning", Victor Frankl has proven from overcoming one of the most daunting, horrendous human experiences that he is not only very intelligent, but has one of the strongest sets of a heart and mind this world has ever seen. What's most incredible to me is that he not only made it through the center of the deadliest world war and endured the highest form of human mental and physical suffering, he had the strength and will to write about it. What I really enjoyed the most about Frankl in his story was his unique, first person view of the world around him and his efforts to relay the realities of that world in the most objective way possible. It's as if he knew he would one day have to deliver his experience to the world so he made a choice to use his intellect and imagination from the start of his experiences. I can't even begin to imagine what he and other holocaust survivors endured, even more so choosing to re–live every second of those memories after the experience by writing a book about them. It seems, from his writings, he made the difficult decision to write the book because of his concluding that having an account to his experiences for the people of the world to look upon and learn from was more important than the intense mental strife the process of writing the book would have on him. For that I greatly respect this author and educator for if it weren't for his strength we would not have the great, positive and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Russian Invasion Of The Ukraine The Russian Invasion of the Ukraine The conflict and subsequent invasion of the Ukraine by Russia came as a surprise to many people in the world, including to the United States intelligence community. This surprise move by the Russian government caused many members of Congress to point the blame at the intelligence community for failing to accurately predict this move, thus limiting the United States and NATOs ability to respond in a timely manner. But was there really an intelligence failure or was this action something that was unforeseeable? Even if there were indicators, would anyone have been able to stop the invasion? In this paper we will take a look at what events led up to the invasion, what intelligence indicators were available that could have been used to identify prior to the invasion, what the United States intelligence community could have done differently, and if that would have made a difference in the outcome. Tensions in the region began when the Ukrainian government decided against the agreement with the European Union (EU) in fall of 2013. This was not just a trade agreement, but also a political agreement that committed Ukraine to adhere to certain European values and principles. Following this decision, rampant protests combined with increasing corruption within the government spurred chaos and unrest within the region drawing the attention of the Russian Government (BBC 2014). By January 2014, the protests became violent as confrontations between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Man's Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl A successful life is a satisfied life. In order to become successful, you must keep a positive attitude. You must be able to take control of your attitude and flip situations, turning something bad into a learning experience. Turn any and every given situation into a situation you can benefit from, rather than dwelling on the fact that things might not be working out in your favor, or how you imagined. Exercising your ultimate freedom to control your attitude in any situation will lead you to a successful life. Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl wrote the award–winning book, Man's Search for Meaning in which he talks about his experience in a concentration camp located in Auschwitz during World War II. He describes his psychotherapeutic method that involved identifying a purpose in life to feel positive as he controlled his attitude during the horrific times and imagined the outcome. Viktor Frankl demonstrates this idea throughout the book, saying things such as, "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves" (Frankl 81) which illustrates the idea that when a situation is out of one's control to change, he must then change his own perspective on the situation. Frankl also stated, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." (Frankl 69). This quote is an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Man's Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl Man's Search for Meaning is an autobiography written by Viktor E. Frankl. Once a free man who had never been identified as a human, he was now seen as just a number. Facing many obstacles, fears around him shows that he's a strong, encouraging man that cares about others, even if he's not feeling the greatest. There's days that he wants to give up, but the only hope he has left is his wife waiting for him. Frankl identifies three different stages in the camp life, now his life. When he first got there everything was just a shock, the second stage was apathy right after adapting to camp, as for the third stage was depersonalization. All of these situations happened through out his three years in prison. Being there makes Frankl stronger, not physically but emotionally because if he would've wanted to become a capo and get treated better than the other prisoners he could've. Conclusion Thus, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is only at the initial stage of its development, there are obvious problems, but there is progress. After just five years since its foundation, it is developing a high–level cooperation in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism. There is the potential for qualitative steps in the fight against the drug menace, successfully developing economic cooperation, signed many important documents are created and continue to create the necessary structures and mechanisms for their implementation. For the SCO there is still much to do and decide, but it is already clear, the organization becomes a powerful and effective international institution that attracts the eyes from all around the globe, it is gradually turning into an important tool of international politics and security. In recent years there have been many discussions and comments on the geopolitical nature of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Matthew Brummer in the Journal of international affairs, monitors the effects of the expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Persian Gulf. Iranian writer Hamid Golpira said: "According to the theory of Zbigniew Brzezinski , control the Eurasian continent is the key to world domination, and control over Central Asia is the key to control of the Eurasian continent. The first portion of the memoir affected me the most because his first time doing even the basic activities like bathing were filled with fear and terror. Frankl's use of imagery to describe his fear and the events that occurred lets the readers sympathize with the victims. The facts he stated throughout the memoir really helped me understand the gravity of the situation he was in. • 12. Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict The conflict stems from the result of the Government's decision to turn down the European Union proposed "association agreement" in 2013 and instead Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir Putin. For years Ukrainians have yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade and economic ties with Western European countries. President Yanukovych's decision to reject the EU's proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further solidified the sentiment that their government was strengthening ties with Russia and not with the west. President Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the Ukrainian people, forcing them to condemn and denounce their corrupt government and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an already fractured society into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their disapproval. In response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military personnel to move into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. Clashes between opposition and the government slowly escalated over a two month period, in February the death toll for protesters in the city of Kiev rose into the hundreds. On February 21 members of the opposition overtook the capital and the Presidents Yanukovych residence, forcing him to flee to Russia to avoid charges by the opposition of murdering protesters. What Does Man's Search For Meaning Mean Journal Assignment#3 In the book "Man's Search For Meaning," Frankl introduced the meaning of life that he discovered during he suffered in the concentration camp. He also mentioned that people find meaningful life by creating work, experiencing something, and by the attitude we toward unavoidable suffering. As a young person, I less advanced in life and less enlightened by the experience. I can't image how many painful memories that he had, and I don't know in what dilemma he found the meaning of lives. Undoubtedly, Frankl noticed the value of his life, and his difficult life experience helped him know himself, and finally he overcame many difficulties. • 15. What Does Man's Search For Meaning Mean Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning is an incredibly influential novel. Frankl's novel has inspired so many people and has positively affected many by showing them that something unwanted could have a good effect in the long run. Viktor Frankl wrote this book nine days after he was released from Auschwitz, a Nazi Death Camp located in Poland, in 1945. While the novel is heartbreaking, it is very moving and definitely still worth the read. Because Frankl was a psychiatrist, he analyzed his awful situation through a scientific lens and also explained psychological reactions of inmates and, ultimately, theorized the meaning of life. Man's Search For Meaning is so significant because of its historical importance, strong emotion, and identification of life's purpose and it "could be described as one of the most important popular books of the 20th century" (Meinertsen). Man's Search for Meaning starts out with Frankl describing his journey to an unknown location. When he and the other prisoners find out they have been transported to Auschwitz, everyone's heart misses a beat. His perspective allowed him to outlive other prisoners and live to get rescued. The prisoners who lost hope were not as fortunate as Frankl. At Frankl's lowest points, he thought about his accomplishments, dreams, and his wife. He discovered that the meaning of his suffering was for the greater good of mankind. At this early stage in my training, I would attest to the fact that this is not as easy as it may sound, particularly when I am still being acquainted with the multitude of counseling theories and style frameworks since the inception of the counseling field. That said, since it is a necessity of this paper as required by this course in Introduction to Counseling Techniques, I would venture to say that an eclectic approach would be my early adopted framework. On the other hand, a disadvantage of person–centered therapy may be that it becomes an endless back and forth between the same small, never changing ball of players; core conditions, actualizing tendency, frame of reference, or locus of evaluation (Biles, 2016). In my estimation of what Biles stipulated in the paraphrase above, he feels as though the core conditions of person–centered therapy (e.g. 1. Psychological contact; 2. Client incongruence, 3; Therapist congruence; 4. Therapist unconditional positive regard; 5. Therapist empathy; and 6. Communication of 4. and 5.) are somewhat artificial, dogmatic and insufficient (in isolation) for client change (Biles, 2016). In other words, person–centered theory implies that the techniques of other therapies are relatively unimportant except to the extent they serve as channels for fulfilling the core therapeutic conditions of person–centered therapy (Biles, 2016). Rogers himself wrote a short paper in which he proclaimed that his theory has often been seriously misunderstood. Essentially, reflecting on the fact that people have turned the core conditions into "shoulds" or "musts"; you "should" be empathetic, or you "must" have unconditional positive regard. Late last year when this deal was in consideration, Viktor Yanukovychbegan to express his doubts in the final stages about signing the trade agreement. For everyone in Ukraine it was clear that Vladimir Putin pressured Viktor Yanukovych so much that essentially Putin made Yanukovych reject the deal. Putin has long upheld a KGB style Cold War mentality mixed with Conservatism of Russian thinkers from early twentieth century such as Berdyaev, Solovyov and Ilyin. All of these thinkers, in one way or another, were patriots as well as socialists and wanted Russia to be independent from any western ideas which they claimed were manipulative in a sense that, western ideas would shape rest of the world for their own interests. The mixture of ideas presented by these thinkers is exactly what Putin needs to unite the legacies of both the Russian and Soviet empires into a solid path dependant ideology. This ideology roughly says that Western countries spread some liberal and deleterious ideas essentially hostile to Russia's tradition, and deliberately aims to destroy Russia's historically unique culture that combines autocracy, orthodoxy and Slavic brotherhood. For this reason, Putin has no other choice but to protect the historical Russian borders from such civilization challenge. Putin has retained his 'thug' image from his time in Leningrad. Everyone in concentration camps had one wish, to stay alive (Frankl 15). Whether they tried to get on the good side of the warden, or attempt an escape, everyone had a different way to survive. Many prisoners died while at camps, but some of them who were hopeful and courageous made it out. Inspired by these prisoners, Frankl created logotherapy to help other find meaning in their own lives. Traveling by train to a concentration camp, Viktor Frankl spent his last hours in his own clothes, and with his own things. Upon arrival, he and his fellow prisoners were stripped of everything; luggage, clothing, jewelry, and even the hair off their bodies. Frankl lost the last piece of his life, a manuscript of his ideas that he had been working on for quite some time (Frankl 23). Although tacit ideological warfare has been going on between Russia and the West since the collapse of communism and the USSR in 1991, a recent attack in the shape of NATO expansion and EU enlargement from the West has proved detrimental in harnessing collective peace and stability in the international system. As a result of these subtle attacks and the domestic crisis in the Ukraine, Putin has been forced to take action against the Western forces encroaching on his borders through the use of military force and invasion. The contrast between the views of the East Ukraine population who traditionally feels close to Russia and of the more pro–Europe leaning West Ukraine citizens, was exacerbated by recent events. After its independence, Ukraine became a new democracy but this came with a seemingly corrupt government. The 2004 parliamentary elections that brought Viktor Yanukovychinto power were accused of being rigged. This election sparked the Orange Revolution which ousted Yanukovych out of power temporarily until his return in 2010. Although underlying tensions could always be felt, the real spark was then ignited in November 2013 when pro–Russian President, Yanukovych, rejected a deal for greater integration with theEuropean Union and decided to accept a $15 billion economic package from Russia instead. That decision gave rise to antigovernment demonstrations that escalated over the following three months and eventually resulted in the eviction of Yanukovych on February 20. Putin accused the West of instigating and funding the protests which he saw as a threat to Russia's security. In retaliation, and using the ostensible reason that he wanted to protect the Ethnic Russian inhabitants, Putin ordered Russian forces to take the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine, and soon after that, he incorporated it into Russia. He then provided arms and advisers to Russian separatists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason for Russia's decision to ban the good comes on the heels of Russian invasion of neighbor Ukraine. In early 2014, Russia staged an intervention with Ukraine expressing that the land described as the Crimean Peninsula was under Russian control, not Ukraine's. On February 21st 2014, the Ukrainian President fled the capital and was officially removed him from power. Oleksandr Turchynov was appointed interim President the next day. The day after Turchynov was appointed, pro–Russian protests were held in Sevastopol, Crimea. Three days later, on February 26th, Russian forces entered the region and established themselves in ... The current status of Crimea as federal subjects of Russia is only recognized by six UN members; they include Afghanistan, Cuba, Nicaragua, Syria, Venezuela and Russia. The reason behind Vladimir Putin's decision to ban all food imports signals that Russia does not want to back down from the ongoing confrontation it has with the Western World, specifically the United States, The European Union consisting of 28 nations, Norway, Canada and Australia. The stricter sanctions put on Russia on July 16 by the United States and the Western World were an attempt to limit the support Russia was giving the pro –Russian Separatists fighting in eastern Ukraine. These stricter sanctions included limiting funds directed towards Russia's defense industry including the banks and energy companies. The original sanctions were primarily individual based and were merely seen as an inconvenience by Russian Government. Russia was willing to risk food shortages and increased prices for the benefit of showing the rest of the world that they were self–sustainable and does not need to rely on other countries for support or trade. Specifically, Russia banned all imports on meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, and dairy products. At an individual level, Vladimir Putin is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By January 2014, the protests became violent as confrontations between police and demonstrators intensified. Within a week of these deaths, the Ukrainian prime minister resigns from his office and the parliament repeals harsh anti–protest laws. Amidst the escalating violence, the then Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych fled the country after a political coup leaving Oleksandr Turchynov as acting president and commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (BBC 2014). While chaos continued to spread across the country, Russia began to eye the territory of Crimea, one if Ukraine's most southwestern territories and an area that used to belong to Russia until it was transferred to Ukraine in 1954. By the end of February, masked Russian troops without insignias took over the Supreme Council of Crimea and several strategic sites across Crimea. This event led to the installation of the pro–Russian Aksyonov government in Crimea and the declaration of Crimea 's independence. • 31. Man's Search For Meaning Analysis Man's search for meaning is written from Dr. Viktor E. Frankl's point of view, the book tells of Dr. Frankl's experiences while being held captive in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. Frankl writes about the three psychological reactions which the inmates of the camp experienced which includes the period following admission to the camps, the period of entrenchment, and the period after being released from the camp. Dr. Frankl has multiple points he is trying to prove in the book, one is when he ultimately comes up with the idea that "To live is to suffer; to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.", which means as long as you living you will suffer and in order for you to survive those sufferings, you will need to find the meaning ... • 32. Ukraine After The Soviet Union Ukraine was once a kingdom for the Slavic peoples, but over time gradually became a part of Russia and known for being its breadbasket. Despite having very similar cultures, Ukraine was distinctly different than Russia in its dialect and traditions. Ukraine finally achieved its autonomy from Russia during the 1990s while the Soviet Union crumbled. Despite their dreams becoming true, Ukraine was hardly prepared for the economic demands of a state. Unable to cope with a growing demand on the government for services, it acquired its revenue from printing currency, a grave mistake that caused hyperinflation. Soon, the economy was fragile and susceptible to outside influence. Thus began Ukraine 's slow descent into economic and political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, it began printing more and more money. Hyperinflation began as manufacturing output plummeted and more currency flooded the markets. Ukraine also suffered a lack of access to financial markets and its government implemented risky monetary policy. In response to the inflating value of the karbovanets, the old currency, the Ukrainian central bank replaced it in 1996 with the hryvnia, pledging to keep it stable in relation to the US dollar. It experienced moderate growth during the 2000s leading up to the recession in 2008 despite inflation damaging export competitiveness. After the collapse, in 2011 the central bank ceded over $28 billion to keep the hryvnia afloat, but let it go in April 2014. Now the question for Ukraine is: If its currency has failed and depreciated, how will it successfully pay its debts to creditors? First, the IMF offered $15 billion in 2010 with conditions attached, much akin to the Venezuelan austerity measures from the IMF loan. Kyiv declined to take the loan, as it would have hurt the civilians with higher energy prices due to Ukraine 's lower production and prices of gasoline domestically. With such a crippled economy, including a potential booming sector for energy production and tax–evading companies coupled with corrupt politicians allowing illegal activity, it is no wonder that the citizens are upset. • 33. Life In The Iron Mills Analysis It always begins with a promise. A promise for better living conditions, higher wage, more opportunities, etc. This is when hope is established within an hard working individual. In the video, "New England cotton mills" and the reading, "Life in the Iron Mills", there are similarities in regards to working conditions, solidarity among workers, and owner attitudes. Both mills show identifiable occasions of mistreatment of workers, although there are clear differences in quality and benefits offered by each institution. The purpose of this essay is to compare discuss issues of worker mistreatment, solidarity, class, and fulfillment of everyday life in regards to work. In "Life in the Iron Mills", by Rebecca Harding Davis, worker treatment and employer attitude is quite negative throughout the story. Deborah and Hugh do not have the benefits that were offered to workers of other mills such as the workers mentioned in the New England mills video. They were simply given a low wage and expected to survive in poor living conditions. The narrator would describe the iron mill workers as "Masses of men, with dull, besotted faces bent to the ground, sharpened here and there by pain or cunning; skin and muscle and flesh begrimed with smoke and ashes", which is completely different in comparison to the clean linens that were provided to the cotton mill workers. Worker treatment was similar in the cotton mills as in the iron mills because the workers often felt undervalued. A lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Synthesis Essay : Viktor E. Frankl Synthesis Essay Viktor E. Frankl didn't grow up living a easy life. During World War II he spent 3 years in various concentration camps, including Theresienstadt, Auschwitz, and Dachau. Viktor has a life story to tell. Concentration Camps were a place where large numbers of people, especially political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities, sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass execution. Frankl may have survived the holocaust but coming out of it he was not the same person. Viktor Frankl is an inspiration to many Generations. Viktor Frankl always looked at life differently than everyone else did. "Each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible." Frankl tells that know matter what obstacles you have to face there will always be a way out, you just have to be patient and responsible. • 35. Joseph Frankl 's Man 's Search For Meaning Renowned Psychiatrist and author, Viktor E. Frankl, chronicles his imprisonment and survival in Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps throughout his memoir, Man's Search for Meaning. Frankl describes his life in captivity during the holocaust and how he overcame grotesque and egregious circumstances by surviving through spiritual composure. Frankl's theory logotherapy, is the certitude that humans are compelled to seek meaning in one's life over the drive for pleasure. His theory has contributed greatly to the study of leadership and influenced the lives of individuals by aiding them in the search for meaning and purpose. Last of The Human Freedoms Frankl describes the last of the human freedoms as the choice of one's attitude in any situation or circumstance along with the freedom to select one's path from then forward. His view embodies the idea that no matter the hardships one encounters, it is always possible to overcome and prosper based solely on one's perspective. I agree with Frankl's view of the last of the human freedoms particularly due to his concept regarding suffering. Suffering is regretfully inevitable, however we may choose how to survive it, seek significance in it, and eventually overcome it. Frankl states, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way" (Frankl, p. 66). • 36. Existential Psychotherapy Is Based Upon The Fundamental... Existential psychotherapy is based upon the fundamental belief that each individual experiences psychological and emotional difficulties. These psychological and emotional difficulties are viewed as inner conflicts due to his or her interaction with certain conditions inherent in human existence called givens. The theory recognizes at least four primary existential givens: freedom and associated responsibility, death, isolation, meaninglessness (Corey, 2017, pp. 144). In therapy, the client discovers how to incorporate the paradoxes around these concerns, and thereby increase tolerance of the anxiety that may be associated with them. Personal responsibility and choice is emphasized, and focus is more on the 'here and now'. Increased mindful awareness is crucial in becoming more healthy and fully functioning. A confrontation with any of these givens fills an individual with existential anxiety. This anxiety is thought to reduce a person's psychological, physical, social, and spiritual awareness, which may lead to significant long–term consequences. For example, many individuals have learned throughout their lives that each human being and their loved ones will eventually die, but the day and time this will happen to anyone is unknown. The fact that this information is unknown may bring people tremendous feelings of anxiety which may lead certain people to ignore the present reality and become fixated on death and human existence. However, through existential therapy it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Communism And The Soviet Union Have you ever had a case of the hiccups that you just couldn't seem to get rid of? You tried all the tricks in the book, from holding your breath, to standing upside down, but those pestering hiccups still stuck around? In a sense, many Eastern European countries had a persistent case of the hiccups, during the early 1990s, which they were trying to shake. Except this wasn't your average case of the hiccups, these hiccups were called communism. Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, most post–Soviet satellite states began making the transition to become liberal democracies. However, the transition from communist governments to democratic governments was not necessarily a smooth one for most of the Eastern European countries. Decades of oppressive Soviet rule and deep–rooted communist parties made ties to the Soviet Union especially hard to cut. Ukraine, in particular, struggled mightily to break away from the Russian communists, and that struggle is still continuing today. In the form of a corrupt government and pro–Russian supporters in South and Eastern Ukraine, roadblocks were created on the Ukrainian road to democracy that they are still trying to maneuver. In analyzing the challenges posed to Ukraine in their continuing transition to a liberal democracy, it is important to start in 1990, when Ukraine officially declared independence. This declaration included principles of self–determination, democracy, and the priority of Ukrainian law over Soviet law. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, once John Smith died, the Powhatan rebelled against the settlers and tried to shove back the empire. Other Native Americans worked with the French settlers and helped them with trading fur (Soomo, 2013f). This was a war of independence between the American colonies and Britain and it was filled with many protests with countless lives lost in the numerous battles all around the colonies. Tensions had been building for a decade between the colonists and the British authorities before the war actually began, and the war itself lasted almost a decade. He believed that, "striving to find a meaning in one's life is the primary motivational force in man." (99). His approach to this idea is based on three psychological and philosophical concepts: meaning of life, will to meaning and freedom of will. According to Frankl, "We can discover this meaning in life in three different ways: by creating a work or doing a deed; by experiencing something or encountering someone; and by the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering" and that "everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms–to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances".
