Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration
My current event is on the issue of Immigration and Refugees that is going on in our society.
Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be
the land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start
from whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that "Immigration has increased
rapidly in the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States" (p.176).
Immigrants and Refugees is an issue that has been talked about for many years. "In 1965 the
Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments provided a sweeping change in immigration law. The
national origins system was abolished and a new set of priorities for admitting immigrants was
adopted" (NASW, 2015, p. 176). So Immigration has been a part of our culture, American society,
and policy making for a long time now. It is talked about today even with during our Presidential
campaign for 2016. The problems with Immigrants and Refugees coming to America came to issue
when "Donald Trump said he would deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States which
is an estimated 11 million people" (Saunt, 2015). In this article the Author Claudio Saunt made it his
effort to explain that is a horrible idea. Saunt (2015) wrote in his article that "In the past American
cities and countries in the Southwest and Midwest tried to expel Mexican–Americans once before in
the 1930s, and it was a traumatic result for the

The famous singer–songwriter, Conor Oberst, told huffington post, "How we treat the
undocumented says a great deal about us as a people and whether or not we'll continue to fulfill the
fundamental American promise of equality and opportunity for all." According to the U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 240,255 people were deported in the year 2016. However,
this year the number of arrest have rose up to 38 percent (Gomez). The number of people being
deported have been increasing every year. The reason behind the increase of number is unfair
hearings and policy of deportation. The United States Immigration System should change their
policies on deportation because it violates the constitutional rights and exposes the inequality
towards immigrants. Current The United States Immigration System (USIC) policy is inhumane to
the country and its legal system. There have been many incidents of brutal deportation where person
is being hurt or experienced inhumanity. As stated by Mallory Shelbourne in the article published in
The Hill, "The administrative complaint includes accounts from multiple women who were detained
by [Immigrations and Customs Enforcement] while pregnant, including one woman who said she
was unable to obtain medical attention after telling officials she was pregnant and bleeding." This
exemplified the cruelty of officials in the process. Pregnant women or any medical seeking person
should be taken care by officials regardless of their immigration status.

Immigration : The Values Of Immigration To America
Astrid Silva's parents brought her to America when she was four–years–old. Her father worked as a
landscaper while her mother cleaned people's homes, and she learned English by reading
newspapers and watching PBS so that she could keep up with her peers. Although she is
undocumented, she took advantage of the wonderful academic opportunities offered to her and
completed three college degrees.
"Welcome to the capitalist system," Alex Alvarez, a Cuban American, warned future immigrants.
"Each one of you is responsible for the money you have in your pocket. The Government is not
responsible for whether you eat, or whether you're poor or rich. The Government does not guarantee
you a job or a house. You've come to a rich and powerful country, but it is up to you whether or not
you continue living like you did in Cuba" (Huntington, pg. 75). These powerful words express how
America approaches immigration in his experience. We do not welcome others by helping them
thrive on our soil, we promise them a life of "liberty and the pursuit of happiness," but refuse to
accept that they cannot accomplish that on their own no matter how many hours they put in.
We often argue whether immigration is beneficial to the U.S., but it is also important to understand
the immigrants' side of the story. Astrid and Alex each have a different experience that is legitimate
and deserves to be heard. The positive and negative effects of immigrations can be explored through
former President Obama's 2014

Australia is a country with a diverse culture, and immigrants are an important part of Australian
population. Because Australia is underpopulated due to a low birth rate, negative population growth
will have adverse long–term effects on the economy as the population ages and the labor market
becomes less competitive. Because of these reasons the Australian government has a policy which
encourages immigration. Immigrants might affect Australia in different ways such as economic and
environment. Immigrants have significant influence for Australian economic in positive ways, for
example economic growth, population growth and solve the aging problem. There is a simple
relationship between immigration and economic growth. More people joining the production cause
the economy keeps growing. The more population makes economic growth because more people
buy more products. The increase in migration helps GDP growth and keeping Australian economic
strong. And due to amount of the highly educated migrants ,Australian has significant change of
technology. For example in the IT industry, medical and architect. On the other hand Australia's
population is ageing quite rapidly. The number of Australians aging more than 60 will double after
2050, as reported by projection of the 2015 IGR. (Carvalho, 2015). In this situation government has
to increase the welfare budget. However, huge number of migrants could change the structure of
population ,because young labor force are the main

The Problem Of Immigration And Immigration
This paper will examine the problem of Immigration and Immigration Law. I will first discuss what
Immigration Law is and how it works, then I will define the number one problem of immigration
laws, "illegal immigration" and why it's so important to follow procedures. It will also address the
consequences after violating the laws. Next the paper discusses three policy solutions to the
problems of illegal immigration: Legalization of Immigrants, Strengthen Border Security, and
Immigration Amnesty. The paper will first explain each policy solution. Then it will analyze the pros
and cons, and potential strengths and weakness of each solution. Last this paper will offer some
personal observations on the problem of immigration.
Three government policy solutions to the problem of illegal immigration include the Legalization of
Illegal Immigrants, the Secure Fence Act of 2006, and Amnesty. If these three government policies
were truly implemented it will help to solve and cut back in illegal immigration activity in the
United States.
Section II
Immigration law refers to the rules established by the federal government for determining who is
allowed to enter the country, and for how long. It also governs the naturalization process for those
who desire to become United States citizens. Finally, when foreign nationals enter without
permission, overstay their visit, or otherwise lose their legal status, they become illegal immigrants,
immigration law controls how detention and removal

Immigration And Mexican Immigration
INTRODUCTION Due to their proximity, the United States and Mexico have a particularly unique
relationship. Relations between the two nations often tend to be problematic due to controversial the
issues they associate with, such as immigration and undocumented immigration into the U.S.
because of the uncertainty of its overall effects on the nation. However, the push and pull factors
that attribute to the desire of migrating to the U.S. are often too intense to resist, and thus Mexican
immigrants are the most prominent demographic to migrate the U.S., making up half of the
estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants residing in the U.S. are Latino or of Mexican
origin (Siemons, 2016). Due to the circumstances in which migrants are influenced to leave their
country of origin, it is imperative to understand the complexity of the process of migration and how
it can be a life–altering experience, and can greatly affect the psyche of an individual. Previous
research has shown that migrant youth are often driven by the higher wages in the U.S., which gives
them the security and opportunity to build a better life (Tucker, et al., 2012). However, there is not
much information available as to how these individuals adapt to their new surroundings. Not only is
a person choosing to leave all that they know in order to seek a better life, they must also adapt to
life in a completely different social structure and cultural practices. For instance, recent studies have

Immigration is a hot social and political topic but for some individuals, it is a very serious topic that
greatly impacts their life and is a key factor contributing to one's self–identity. For this interview
project, I chose to interview my stepmom, Francis, who identifies as part of the 1.5 generation
because she immigrated to the United States from the Philippines when she was four or five which
was in 1972 or 1973. In the 70s you had to do an application to get approved to go to the U.S. and it
took 5–7 years to get approved. Her dad was an accountant and went to the U.S. first and was issued
a Green Card and went to Hawaii. Each individual of her family had to be petitioned to go to the
U.S. and she has 7 siblings, so 8 of them total. Her oldest brother Joe went first after their father. It
was pretty much you got your ticket and left because you didn't know if you would ever have the
opportunity to go some other time. Her mom received her Green Card sometime after that but could
not leave her children so it was in the next wave she left for the United States. In the next wave, the
government randomly picked four of the kid's names and Francis was one of the four picked so she
went to the United States. They were separated from the rest of their siblings for 7–8 years. Her
mom felt terrible leaving three of her kids in the Philippines, but Francis aunt lived in the
Philippines and raised the three kids. In the end, they would all make it to the United States. Before

Public opinions of the citizenry make up these countries that have exclusive immigration policies
and it is important to observe how these opinions influence politics. Also, anti–immigrant
sentiments and populist public opinions create internal borders for immigrants making it crucial to
understand the basis for immigrants exclusion in Europe. The first two theories are based off the
idea of perceived threat of the immigrant population. These two theories are not objective, but
mainly based on the perceptions of the people who perceive the immigrants as other. The difference
between the two are what is the perceived threat over certain interests. The first is the perceived
threat over material interests such as welfare benefits, economic resources, jobs, etc. Economic
interests can be one factor that predicts immigrant hostility, but it should not be declared the major
factor. The second is the perceived threat of symbolic interests such as national identity, way of life,
cultures, etc. This can be observed in the trends of Islamophobia in Europe, specifically looking at
Austria. The third hypothesis to mitigate the anxiety, whether it be material or symbolic, is through
social contact theory. However, social contact theory becomes harder to implement as States are
shaped by critical external events that motivate a certain response of the state that reinforces the
concept of other, changing the majority–minority dynamic.

Immigration
Introduction
Immigration in its simplest term can be conveniently referred to as the international movement of
people into a destination country of which they do not have citizenship in order to settle of reside
there especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens to take up employment as a migrant
worker or temporarily as students. No nation on earth can boast of singlehandedly archiving all that
it has without the help of immigrants. The case f America isn't different. "The idea that immigrants
have the capacity to make the country more innovative and more prosperous is especially appealing
at a time of deep insecurity about America's economic future and its place in a global changing
economy" Demetrios G. Madeleine S. (2011) The role of immigration in fostering competitiveness
in the united states. p2 Over the past few years, the world has experienced tremendous changes like
never before. Advancement in technology, social security and system of government has turned
things around. In all of these processes, America takes the lead and as a result there has been a
tremendous in flow of immigrants from across the globe. The big question is should we continue to
open our gates to strangers or shut it against them, are we sure that we no longer lack anything
before looking forward to sharing the little we have with others, how are we sure that apart from
coming for education and just working alone they aren't spies or individuals that can unleash

Americans celebrate where there ethnic or cultural background as a "nation of immigrants," there is
mixed feelings about immigration. Hirschman (2006) There is a strong belief for the continued
economic growth. Immigration has been a core of events of America. A dark part of American's in
the past are continuing to blame another heritage groups for low wages or taking jobs. Until we
accept people of all nationalities we will fail in becoming a great nation. During that era people
didn't really know what "illegal" or "legally meant because there weren't any laws in this country

Immigration And Illegal Immigration
During our most recent Presidential election, Donald Trump brought up the topic of illegal
immigration in most of his debates. Stating that he would build a wall to separate Mexico and the
United States because of his belief that immigration is hurting our society. Many of his voters also
believe this as the truth. Carrying the idea that illegal immigration lessens the economy, burdens our
Government institution and is unfair to those who came to America legally. However,
undocumented immigrants carry much more positive affirmations than negative ones for the United
States.
The United States economy was originally built on the backs of immigrants. In today's economy,
illegal immigrants build a great foundation to help bring out the best for other citizens. Supplying a
workforce for jobs that other Americans may not want. Cleaning, house care, lawn work, dog
walking, construction, and so on. Seeing it from the other perspective, it could be thought that illegal
immigrants are stealing these jobs away from Americans. However, immigrants who participate in
these jobs help stimulate the economy. Working in jobs that create time for whoever hired them.
This allows whoever the individual is to be more productive or to do whatever they want with the
saved amount of time they have. The economy is stimulated by this as the saying the more time; the
more money said person could make. Also, participation by immigrants creates more revenue for the
Government. As stated by the chief

What is immigration? Immigration is when a person from one country moves to another country
with the plan of staying permanently. There are many reasons why someone may want to immigrate
to another country such as the United States of America. According to the text around 214.2 million
people immigrated in 2010 alone. The positive pulls may be for job opportunities, higher wages,
educational opportunities, health care, family and friends (Guest, 2014). The negative pushes for a
person to immigrate may be from poverty, famine, natural disasters, war, ethnic conflict, genocide,
disease, political or religious reasons, lack of jobs, etc. People usually choose to immigrate for a
better state of living. Immigration isn't always approved of or appreciated by everyone however.
Immigrants often face hardships like racism and discrimination by those living in the communities
they move to. In the film 9500 Liberty the Mexican population that had moved into the town over
the last many years were being attacked by a group of people who thought they were harming the
community. The group, being extremely racist, got a policy passed to make immigrants, who they
called illegals, move out of their homes and split their families. This hardship brought the
community together as an enemy against this hate group and eventually got part of the policy
removed that allowed the Mexican immigrants not to be discriminated based on how they look or
speak. While the immigrants had moved out due to

After the horrific events of 9/11, the urgency for national security and amounts of anti–terrorist
perceptions has increased. In fact, the national security of a country/state is deemed to be more
valuable than the safety of people in desperate need of refuge. Moreover, the border is considered to
be symbol of "national sovereignty" which, a state much protect at all costs (Crepeau 2007, pg.
312). In other words, since "security" is a top priority of a country, there are not many regards for
the rights and interests of immigrants or non–citizens. Furthermore, in regards to anti–terrorism
perceptions, they target a certain group of people by associating their entire race with terrorism and
danger, creating many negative stereotypes. More importantly, these perceptions have amplified into
major concern about immigrants and immigration. Evidently, this concern is responsible for the
increase in immigration laws, which criminalize and prevent the mobility of migrants; and the
increase in border control/policing services.
Frequently, if not all of the time, migrants leave their original countries to flee from "prosecution,
human rights violations, armed conflicts, or natural disasters" (Crepeau 2007, pg. 312). They may
also leave their countries due to the lack of job markets in their original countries; in event of this,
they seek to make the move to acquire employment to support their families. In terms of economics,
migrants play a great role in the contribution to the

Now, just as the topics of race or ethnicity play a role in the quality of education a person receives or
the amount of income a person earns, it also has affected the outlook on issues such as immigration.
First off, it is crucial to understand what immigration is and why people migrate, in this case, more
specifically to the United States. One of the reasons why people migrate to the United States is labor
migration, which in the book Social Problems: Community, Policy, and Social Action, it is defined
as "the movement of people from one country to another for employment" (Leon–Guerrero, p.76).
This takes place because there are individuals who are clearly not surviving, or do not find the
money that they are making to be enough. Through the exasperation of not being able to financially
support themselves or their families, individuals seek to escape to a place where they will have more
success than they currently do. The United States is viewed by many as a country with a lot of
economic opportunity, yet many do not realize the amount of scrutiny that they will face because of
their race or ethnicity. After many years of constant immigration from many countries, and the
passing of laws to regulate not only the immigration, but the discrimination many faced when
entering the country, there continues to be criticism and prejudice over this topic. In the article "The
History of Racial Exclusion in the U.S. Immigration Laws," Randall states that there is an eminent
danger of not only anti–immigration laws, but racial discrimination within the laws themselves
(Randall, 2012). This means that while even more laws are being made, they are laws that are not
very accepting of immigration. Furthermore, they may also contain clauses that involve
discrimination towards some races. In "Immigration and Its Relation to Race and Ethnicity in the
United States" by Bean and Bell–Rose, this idea is also brought up. Racial and ethnic relations will
hold various implications in the new immigration laws (Bean and Bell–Rose, n.d.). Now, through
the current presidency, this is a topic that has been highly scrutinized as well, but these type of laws,
or bans in this case, have taken place. Moreover, Randall states that

Immigration Arguments For Immigration
Immigration: An Argument for Loose Borders
Immigration is not only beneficial to the United States, but is a vital component of what the country
is made up of. The United States of America was founded on immigration several hundred years ago
when individuals and their families left their home countries for various different reasons.
Immigration is defined as "the movement of people from one country into another, for residential
rather than visiting purposes, which may be for a number of reasons," (QUOTE). Some of the
reasons that people do immigrate to the United States are for economic, familial, personal, and
social reasons. Many individuals come to this country to find a job, support their children or
families, or provide better education for their children, among many other things. Regardless of the
reason, Christians are called to have mercy and be compassionate toward immigrants as outlined in
several different Biblical scriptures. Christians have a moral duty to look after the needs of their
neighbors, and by allowing for more open borders, this can be accomplished. It is important to
examine immigration from several different perspectives, especially from the Wesleyan
Quadrilateral. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral is an important component to apply to any controversial
topic because it causes one to see their worldview from four different perspectives: scripture,
tradition, reason, and experience. These elements bring a fulfilling understanding of Christianity and

Immigration laws have changed throughout the centuries. During the 1900's there was a literacy test.
It tested people's ability to read and write it also served as a prerequisite, in which potential citizens
were chosen to vote and serve in the armed forces. The literacy tests were a way in which the
government could manipulate their anti–rage against immigrants. To many non–informed
Americans, it was a way of regulating the immigration process. Immigration has always been a
heated topic for many people in the United States. It continues to be the thing Americans can't really
fix in terms that all parties can agree.
To begin, the main issue in the editorial of "The Immigration Law," published by the New York
Times was about creating a new system in which the literacy test was not the only thing taken into
consideration. An issue with the central focus of the literacy test is that it doesn't gear its focus to
what is important such as the person's criminal background. A question that remains unanswered to
me by this editorial is, how did this literacy test protect or benefit the United States? The person's
literacy skills shouldn't be the main qualification to the path to becoming an American citizen. I
strongly believe the literacy test fails to determine one's history of violence. As stated in the
editorial, "The alien who can conquer his thirty to forty words, in ordinary use and plainly legible
print, may import a household of illiterates." This goes to show that yes,

Immigration : Perceptions Of Immigration
Perceptions of Immigration
Many people around the world have to move to different countries for different situations. Some of
them have to move because their parents were transferred by their work. Others are moving because
they want to live in another country. There are other people that move because they are looking for
new opportunities to succeed or because they are escaping because of violet reasons in their
countries. This process of moving from one country to another is called immigration. This word has
been used in many different situations every day. The most common definition is to talk about
people that move illegally to another country. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica,
immigration "is process through which individuals become permanent residents or citizens of a new
country" (Perry 315). It is incredible that when you type the word "immigration" into an internet
search engine, the first sources that come up have nothing to do with the actual word. You have to
scroll down a lot to actually find the definition. The first thing that comes up are problems, the new
policies of the government, other misconceptions, and most of the sources talk about the negative
aspects of immigration not the beneficial ones. The word immigration is such a hot topic that
nowadays we forget what the real meaning of it is.
Historically, the process of immigration has been of great social, economic, and cultural benefit to
the United States. This is because people were focusing on

The term immigration is an international movement of people into a destination country of which
they are natives or where they do not process citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially
as permanent residents or naturalized citizens. However, as many as over million and millions of
people in the world have migrated to other countries as a result of war, poverty or just the dream of a
better life. Obviously, the number of immigrants has increased, so has controversy about
immigration policies. "What they want is essentially identical to work hard and achieve happiness,
safety, and security for themselves and their families. A founding premise of America is that this is a
place for immigrants to come and start over" (Heller, Becca). As being an immigrant myself there is
a lot I didn't have to experience because when I came to the United States my legal status was with a
permanent residency and in the years, came I was able to become a US citizen. Especially, with
everything that has been going on the news regarding immigration from the Trump administration to
whom their focus is on deportations and cancel many benefits for non–working families and
children. A good example of that is the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals),
this is a program that has helped hundred and thousands of young people who were brought to the
country illegally as children to allow them to stay the same as TPS (Temporary Protected Status)
which was created for certain individual's due to the conditions of their country that had prevented
the country's nationals from returning safely or unable to handle their return accordingly.
During recent years, the immigration topic has been the forefront to all political debates. In addition,
research studies showed by Patrick Oakford and Robert Lynch recommend, "Legal status and a road
to citizenship for the unauthorized will bring about significant economic gains in terms of growth,
earnings, tax, revenues, and jobs" (Oakford, P and Lynch, R 2013). On the other hands, for the past
decade, aggressive deportation strategies have resulted in the removal and return of more than 3
million immigrants. While the deportations have been dropping steadily over the past few

Abstract This paper is concerned with the recent wave of Hong Kong immigrants into Vancouver.
The stage is set for this discussion by first explaining some background behind Canadian
immigration policy and then discussing the history of
Chinese immigrants in Vancouver. From these discussions we are informed that
Canadian immigration policy was historically ethnocentric and only began to change in the late
1960s. It was at this point that we see a more multicultural group of immigrants into our nation. The
history of Chinese immigration in
Vancouver, and for that matter, Canada is not positive one. The experiences and prejudices which

Throughout the 20th Century the Canadian government has set targets for the number of immigrant
entries based upon economic criteria. Periods of encouragement have included the early decades of
this century along with the reconstruction era of Post World War II. The 30s, 40s and the recession
of the early 80s have been periods during which the national government has discouraged
immigration. At times, economic concerns have given way to humanitarian ones such as during the
Soviet invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and during the Vietnamese refugee crisis of the
70s. Generally, however, Canadian immigration targets have reflected the rate of economic
expansion and employment. An exception to this rule was during the latter part of the 1980s. Worry
over the declining fertility rate and our ageing population led the federal government to raise its
annual targets despite high unemployment. Most recently, under economic pressures, the most
recent Liberal government once again lowered the immigration level.
The Geography of Immigration There have also been attempts at controlling the geography of
immigrant settlement. The Federal government stated that one of the primary goals of immigration
is to, "foster the development of a strong and viable economy and the prosperity of all regions in
Canada." Immigration in our country has been seen as a means of promoting economic development
in less prosperous regions, as well as supporting heartland areas. While the

On March 6, 2017, President Trump released the revised Executive Order 13769, "Protecting The

it closes the entry to all refugees for 120 days and reduces the number of refugee admissions to only

Without these brave generations of immigrants who had risked themselves to travel to our shores,
our nation simply would not be the successful country that it has been today. According to the
American Immigration Council, immigrants create job and business opportunities, increase the
wages of native–born workers, and boost the economy in America.
President Trump says the goal of this Executive Order is to provide protection and security for our
country. However, the nationalities that he selected on his ban list have not killed a single person in
the U.S. According to the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the nationalities that were involved
with the attack of September 11, 2001 were Saudis, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon.
Based on this evidence, the travel ban will not make America safer; therefore, the Executive Order
doesn't serve its true purpose.
The U.S Government will need to do more than just extreme vetting and restricting certain
nationalities from coming to U.S soil to keep America safe. He will need to unite and persuade the
people in America and around the world that having the freedom of religion and tolerance surpass
jihad. Most importantly, we should welcome refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution
instead of denying them. Our country will need more allies than it has now, so preventing potential
allies won't make this country any safer.

The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact,
one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people
did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had
different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each
discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his
Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people
could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and international
laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream that Joseph had
about "an angel of the Lord" (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his wife and their new
baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him since Herod did not want
to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is important because part of the
context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the Messiah.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as someone who has "been forced to
flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence." (UNHCR) An asylum seeker,
according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is defined as a person who "flees their

Immigration About Immigration
Multitudes of people every year try to illegally cross the border between Mexico and the United
States. They do this in the hope that if they become citizens, they will gain the freedom and
opportunities Americans have. This is what Turcios' family was aiming for. This family originates
from the Honduran countryside, this family had minimal paying jobs, so they saved up enough
money to be illegally smuggled into the US border in 1994. They considered returning back, but
after a hurricane that struck Honduras, they remained. They tried to smuggle their children but were
only able to get some of them to the US. The author is trying to say that immigration is a hard
process and that the government does not seem to care. The author is trying to say that one may
have big dreams, but turning it into reality is a whole other story. In addition, if someone truly
believes in their dreams, then their own lives will not be as essential to them.
Immigration is not necessarily a walk in the park, only we don't perceive this way because we have
never walked in their shoes. Other than the fact that an immigrant may feel inferior to others, they
are not treated equally by the government. Even though immigration seems fine with temporary
protection, technically they are not citizens. They did not have a chance for financial aid/student
loans, had to work harder than others, not having the same freedom/advantages that everyone
around them has and living in constant fear. According to

Immigration And Immigration Reform
Imagine that you are a senior in high school. You are nervous and excited to start the process of
getting a job and attending college. You obtain a couple of job applications and a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to fill out. Naturally, as you fill out these forms you ask your
parents for your social security number, however, this is the moment you find out that you are
undocumented. Shocked and in disbelief, you can't help to see all your hopes and dreams go down
the drain. Nevertheless, like many other undocumented students, you discover there is still hope for
your situation. For instance, your research leads you to former President Barack Obama's Deferred
Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects minors who were brought to this
country illegally as children. Created through executive action in June of 2012, DACA gives young
undocumented immigrants: protection from deportation and a work permit. Subsequently, on
September 5th, 2017, the Trump administration rescinds the DACA policy, and approximately
800,000 young immigrants will become eligible for deportation at the end of six months. Therefore,
the only way to update our immigration system is for Congress to pass immigration reform, which
offers a pathway to citizenship, plus, acknowledge that the 14th Amendment applies to homosexual
conduct and illegal aliens.
Comprehensive immigration reform would have significant economic benefits for DACA recipients
and American citizens. In

Immigration And Globalization
Introduction How does immigration impact an individual's likelihood to identify with a national
identity, or a larger global identity? Does immigration, a component of globalization, impact one
identity more than another? These questions are increasingly relevant with the well–documented rise
of European nationalist parties, but there are still questions about whether these are empirically
connected phenomena.
Immigration, a facet of globalization, is widely discussed, as well as other impacts of globalization,
confirming the importance of this trend (Ferreira, Pessoa, & Dos Santos, 2016; Merdzhanovska,
2015; Czaika, & de Haas, 2014; Borchert, & Yotov, 2017; Zolberg, & Woon 1999; Ceobanu,

Scholars agree that it is a process that crosses country borders through the sharing and flow of
goods, services, economics, culture, technology, and more (Guillen, 2001; Held et al, 1999; Castells,
1996; Kobrin, 1997; Gilpin, 1987; Knight, 2004).
An abundance of literature exists on the impact of globalization in various areas. Scholars have
argued that globalization affects, and does not affect ethnic conflict (Ishiyama, 2004; Olzak, 2011).
Others have argued a connection between globalization and the outbreak of terrorism as
disadvantaged groups react to globalization (Lutz, Lutz 2014; Khan, Estrada, 2017). Research on the
human migration component of globalization finds an increase in migration from nation to nation,
increasing interactions between formerly separate groups, and they hypothesize ethnic conflict being
a result of this (Olzak, 2011). Economic globalization proliferates trade, and the spread of
information follows suit (Olzak, 2011). These conclusions are frequently referenced as
consequences of globalization, but what this means for whether or not an individual will identify
with the nation or global identity remains unclear.
National Identity and Saliency Globalization impacts nations economically, politically,
technologically, and through human patterns, but it also impacts humans on a personal level,
including their identities and behaviors, making the psychological aspect of globalization key

Increasing the security of the borders in The United States became top priority following the

It is clear why the breach of security on the southern border is of concern to both governments as
well as to citizens of US and Mexico. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is working to
secure the border by ensuring that an effective combination of staffing, technology, and
infrastructure is utilized to protect the more than 8,000 miles of land and maritime areas along both
the northern and southern borders, however the current system in place needs urgent changes in
order to secure the borders and move forward to target all illicit activities that take place on the
border. The next step will be redirect the attention and work on the effects that it brings to citizens of
the countries involved. It is easy to think only on the effects that it brings to United States but also
for Mexico it has a negative impact. It is often assumed that illegal immigrants are all Mexican
citizens crossing the border however this statement is not a fact. Mexico is being used as a bridge by
illegal immigration immigrating to United States from neighbor countries such as Guatemala,
Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Peru. The federal government, the DHS and agencies
involved in securing our borders need to create a comprehensive plan to guarantee the DHS gains

Immigration And Immigration
Disputes has sparked between the correlation of citizens and crime due to the statement made by
President Donald J. Trump. There has been a bias belief that immigrants have came to America and
have consumed all the jobs and create a terror in society. There is a negative bias towards the
immigrants due to the severity of crimes committed. Due to the negative bias, immigrants are
deemed to increase the danger to national security and public safety. There is a large disparity
between the total number of immigrants compared to citizens so crime rates are used to compare.
Topic Sentence
There has been a major correlation between the rate of crime and citizens shown throughout the
nation.
Thesis Statement
American citizens are more likely to commit crimes rather than both legal and illegal immigrants.
Argument #1
Immigrants do not increase the rate of crime in society and do not increase the danger to national
security or public safety.
Research
According to the studies on over 200 Metropolitan areas, immigrants committed less crimes on
average compared to natural born citizens. One of the largest immigration populated city have one
of the lowest average crime rates. This shows that allowing immigrants in the country does not
increase the danger to national security or public safety. Studies at the University of California,
Irvine, and Graham Ousey, College of William and Mary have also shown that high immigrant
populated areas have lower rates of crime and violence. Since many

Immigration has played an important role throughout American history. What fundamentally sets
America apart from other nations is the foundation that it was created by immigrants seeking a
better life for themselves and their children (Camarota & Zeigler, 2016). During times of economic
growth, laborers have been imported, and deported during recessions (Flores, 2016). An average of
1.1 million immigrants relocate to the United States annually (Storesletten, 2000). US Customs and
Border Control officials, have witnessed a significant increase in the number of "unaccompanied

36). Trump further asserted, Mexicans' are stealing jobs from Americans (Justice & Stanley, 2016).
The long–term effects of immigration policy, such as DACA, can only be speculated. Recent
activity from the Trump administration has suggested the dismantling of DACA while proposing
stricter immigration policy such as the merit–based immigration policy known as Reforming
American Immigrants for Strong Employment (RAISE) Act (Gelatt, 2017). Therefore, continuously
studying immigration policy is essential to understanding the potential impact on the United States.
This capstone will examine social–disorganization theory and how it perpetuates the stigma
associated with immigrants and criminal behavior, specifically as it relates to DACA and the future
of immigration policy.
Background
The framework for American immigration policy began around the 1750–1820 period through the
incorporation of colonial legacy with existing state and federal policy (Zolberg, 2009). The United
States legislation has excluded whole nations and regions from migrating due to internal and
external factors. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Page Act of 1875 restricted Chinese
female immigration. In 1917 and 1924, quota systems were adopted to prohibit considerably
"undesirable and "inferior" ethnic groups and races. During the Great Depression in the 1930s,
between 400,000 and 1 million Mexican laborers and their families were deported under the
"repatriation" programs. Approximately

The Immigration Problem Of Immigration
Since the 1970's, the distinction between criminal law and immigration law has become increasingly
blurred. In many jurisdictions around the world, undocumented immigration was long considered a
civil offence in which violation resulted in fines and deportation. Now, however, illegal crossings
are often treated as criminal violations carrying overly punitive consequences such as incarceration
in harsh detention centers. The ever–evolving assortment of laws and enforcement measures
concerning immigration, as well as negative rhetoric in politics and media, has resulted in migrants
being ascribed the stigma of 'criminal', 'alien' or 'terrorist'. This paper will explore the
criminalization of immigration phenomenon broadly by detailing the ... Show more content on

Essentially, our social reality is influenced by the state–constructed definition of what is 'crime'
which often reflects the values of the upper class (Persak, 2016). For example, the trend seen in
many cities in the United States of criminalizing homelessness through so called 'get tough' policies
reflects the upper classes desire for public health and safety, protection of economic interests in
business districts and the maintenance of city aesthetic. Although, these policies do not address the
causes of homelessness rather they exacerbate the problem and violate the liberties and human rights
of citizens (Foscarinis, Cunningham–Bowers & Brown, 1999). Criminalization is perhaps the most
repressive and intrusive applications of state power on a citizen and is often implemented, as is the
case with the homeless, to target the 'less–desirable' social groups (Persak, 2016). Moreover, while
formal criminalization in the form of legislation and criminal consequences for infringement works
as a social control, it is not the only form of criminalization that occurs. Informal criminalization
may in some cases be a more effective form of social control and ultimately lead to formal
criminalization of behavior or come as a result of formal legislation. As stated by Hauptman (2013),
informal social control measures are any social influences on compliance not

What Is Immigration Or Migration Or Immigration?
What is immigration or Migration?
The migration is described as the relocation or movement of a single individual or a group of people
between various countries or continents. The people who move out of their country to another
country are called immigrants. The difference between migration and immigration is the process
undertaken to carry out the procedure. In the case of immigration, you have to go through certain
steps which are based on a legal process for moving to another country. The process is lawfully
accepted by the immigrant. However the migration may or may not be legal, the illegal immigrants
may try to settle in some advanced country due to using unfair means. The federal or local
government authorities may deport or punish those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States is known for the freedom of speech and economic opportunities. The biggest
reason why such a large number of immigrants settle in America each year due to the poverty in
their own country. Due to the poor salaries and wages, the workers prefer to relocate so they offer a
better lifestyle for their families.
The above statistics reveal that people from Russia, Europe, Asia and African continent enter
America due to various reasons. Some of them face religious persecution in their countries, some of
them enter due to war and some seek better career opportunities. The 19th centuries hardships in
France motivated many people to enter America. The culture comprises of customs and traditions
that include a whole lifestyle of the people forming that culture. Everything comes into play when
diverse people live in a diverse culture like food habits, thoughts, marriage customs, language
differences, wearing different clothes and clothing style, music and beliefs about right or wrong. The
religious beliefs also hold significance in a diverse culture where the rights of various religious

Immigration And Immigration
Immigration has a negative effect on government budget. There are two types of public goods, pure
and congestible. If the public goods are "pure", or nonrivalrous and nonexcludable, nonrivalrous
means the good may be consumed by one consumer without preventing simultaneous consumption
by others, then more taxpayers in the form of immigrants spread out the tax cast without
diminishing the quality of the goods. If the public good is "congestible" more immigrants could
decrease the quality of goods, promoting the government to spend more tax dollars to maintain
quality (2014, np.). Immigrants are unable to shoulder their own burden, so the government and tax
payers must shoulder that weight.
Immigration also affect the expenditures and revenues of a government. "Immigrants generate
additional tax revenues for the general fund, holding all else constant" (Loveless, 1996, p. 104).
Generating revenue increases the amount of money that circulates through the economy. Immigrants
also simultaneously according to Loveless increases expenditures as well (1996, p. 113). The
relationship to immigration is stronger for expenditures than for revenues, therefore the overall
fiscal association is negative. Although immigration negatively affect revenue and expenditures,
immigration plays a positive role in productivity, technology, and human capital.

Immigration Policy And The Immigration Sector
Immigration

Abstract
In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep
history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However,
most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview
contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this
paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the
immigration policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that
is widely used by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did
not cater for everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on
transit for employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they
end up being stranded and thus are forced to accept low–paying jobs with poor working conditions.
The solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and
its implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both
the immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently
came up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed

Immigration: Pros And Cons Of Immigration
CONS OF IMMIGRATION
Increase in Unemployment
One of the biggest disadvantages of immigration is unemployment. As the population increases, the
jobs become scarce, and thus increase unemployment rate. Immigration has led to loss of cultural
identity for many. Immigration provides the industry with cheap labor, at the same time, it raises
unemployment in the country where people have immigrated.
Example:
The results of a survey suggest that millions of Americans of all education levels are currently
unemployed, while the number of immigrant workers in the USA continues to increase. Other work
has shown that this is the result of a long–term trend where immigrants are now being hired at a
faster rate than U.S.–born workers.
While the economy's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a company hires an immigrant who does not have a good command of English or
speaks with a bad accent, the company may face difficulties in roles such as customer service. In
some cases, the company may have to train the immigrants to get acquainted with the place and may
have to arrange classes for language etc.
Employees' Resistance
Another main disadvantage of immigration is that hiring immigrants in companies may meet with
resistance from companies' current employees. If the employee base mainly consists of people of a
certain cultural background or ethnicity or who come from the local area, it may be difficult to
assimilate immigrants into the work culture. In order to develop a healthy work environment, we
need to mainly implement diversity training programs to help get everyone at the same position so
as to develop a healthy work environment.
Two of the major problems with immigration are that the immigrants' cultural and national identities
are diluted, and most of it is illegal. This means that most of the illegal immigrants are now working
for lower wages. Morover, in many areas, these immigrants are working in jobs that legal citizens
might deem beneath their

The Immigration Issue Of Immigration
Immigration is one hot topic in today's conversation and society. Many think that immigrants
coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them. Some also think that there are
jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working
conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigration issue has come to a
point where the United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of
immigrants coming here.
Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker. The work
occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any legal (licensed) employer to employ any
American worker. The typical job sites that would be including but not limited to: unsanitary
working conditions, dangerous equipment without proper safety precautions, extremely long
working days, and less than minimum wage for work rendered. There is not one citizen in this
country that would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a company that
allows it to happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection board to have the factory
and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any sort of inspection for the welfare of the
workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be closed down and there would be even fewer jobs for
Americans.
Immigrants are a growing part of the labor force. As the foreign–born population has grown as a
share of the total population,

Immigration And Immigration Policy
When immigration policy is discussed, typically, it is discussed within the confines of egalitarian
notions and sentiments, and inside the boundaries and parameters set by generally Marxist–
influenced social democracy. Characteristically, it is not discussed pertaining to the concept of a
social order built on the rights of property owners, sharers, and contributors to and of the common
stock– which at their discretion– may exclude bad apples, lazy contributors, rotten characters,
trespassers, and terrorists. Once egalitarian sentiments and notions are rejected full–scale– (only
giving credence to those that have empirical weight or logical consistency) more proper, more
substantive interdisciplinary analyses may reveal that the current investigative techniques employed
by current mainstream political theorists are– in the context of reality, incorrect, superficial and
quite shallow.
––
Immigrants– illegal or not, do not have the first claim to ownership of common stock or common
land. Immigration isn't necessary for the benefit of the host nation's economy. In any case, one might
prefer lower living standards rather than higher living standards in exchange for greater distance
from others. Moreover, no multicultural society has ever lasted very long. In fact, diverse
neighborhoods report less social cohesion than neighborhoods with a less diversity.
Citizens who are of the host nation fall under jurisdiction of the host nation. By coming into the
jurisdiction of the host nation, naturally, all trespassing parties are breaking the law.
Stakes of common land/stock per citizen will shrink, while shares per illegal immigrant will grow.
Law abiding citizens are punished (taxpayers) by following laws while illegal immigrants are
rewarded for refusing to abide (tax consumers).
Incentivizing illegal immigration will lead to more of it.
According to TIME Magazine (2006):
"The U.S.'s borders, rather than becoming more secure since 9/11, have grown even more porous.
And the trend has accelerated in the past year. It's fair to estimate, based on a TIME investigation,
that the number of illegal aliens flooding into the U.S. this year will total 3 million––enough to fill

Immigration : What Is Immigration?
What is Immigration?
So the topic i picked for my final will be Immigration. In my word, immigration is the act to move
on. When people move from one country to another it's called immigration. If you think about it, we
are like birds. Birds or animals move home from home in the winter to keep warm. Animals
migrates so they can keep warm. Many immigrants plan to live in the new country for a long period
of time. They want to become citizens of the new country. The number of people who immigrate to
a new country is very large. In 2009, over 200 million people changed countries. That sounds like a
lot of people. Actually, that is only three of every one hundred citizens of the world or 3%. The rest
of the citizens of the world stayed in their own countries. Lots of immigrants have trouble in their
new homes. My family are immigrants. They came here with my older sister when she was 4 years
old. My parents wanted a better life for us. And they also planned having my brother and I when
they got here. I say my parents did a great job teaching us this and what the world is really about.
You did teach me things to Mr. Wagner. In your class, I thought how easy everything can be in this
world. Like the college thing. Yes i plan going to college because having my parent they can't so
nagging me to go to college. I may be off of topic right now but my point is that i find the meaning
of immigration as the act to make a new live for yourself. That's what my parents did. If Bernie

Globalization and Immigration
Introduction
Nowadays migration is getting to be one of the dominant characteristics of the modern world since
at the present moment that movement of people and migration of citizens from one country to
another become a norm. Not surprisingly that such unparallel and extremely high level of migration
results in substantial demographic, ethnical and socio–cultural changes in many countries of the
world.
In this respect, it is worthy of mention that such a situation with the migration is the result of the
recent trend in the world economy which is characterized by processes which are generally called
globalization. The process of globalization is overwhelming and involves practically all countries of
the world with rare exceptions which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, it resulted in an extreme specialization of countries that makes their economies one–
sided, and consequently more exposed to economic and social crisis.
However, globalization developed international contacts and made it possible to cooperate on the
global scale. As a result, nowadays, basically due to the high level of development of IT and
Internet, specialists physically living in different countries of the world may work on one and the
same product. So, it may be said that globalization "eliminated geographical boundaries between
countries" (Gomory 2002:187).
As for its effects, they are quite contradictive. The contrast is particularly obvious between well–
developed countries and developing ones. In short, its effect may be expressed in one phrase, richer
countries become richer, and poor countries become poorer. Though it sounds a bit radical and more
precisely, it should be said that globalization makes developing countries more dependant on well–
developed and it also makes practically all the countries of the world more submitted to global crisis
since their economies are closely interlinked than a crisis in one country would lead to the same
effect on economies of other countries that are its economic partners. In this respect, migration
seems to be probably the most effective by such a striking contrast that leads to high level of
emigration from developing countries and respectively high level of

Immigration Vs Legal Immigration
In the past 10–15 years, the world has become more globalized with a higher degree of relevance.
As people have been moving since time began, the economy continues to improve when the local
economy is strong enough to accommodate the new influx of people and dropping when it is
weaker. In each U.S. presidential election, there are several key problems. One of the most debated
issues for candidates is immigration. This issue always points the illegal immigration, it is totally
different from legal immigration, in terms of their goals, the effects on the country and their values.
Firstly, illegal immigrants and legal immigrants can be treated as two sides of a same coin.
According to Roy (1996), the level of illegal immigration is increased with the level of legal
immigration at the same time. Similarly, when the level of legal immigration declines, the level of
illegal immigrants will also be reduced. The reason for this phenomenon can be interpreted as that
both the illegal immigrants and the legal immigrants chose immigrants for the same reason. For
example, people want to evade persecution based on race, religion, nationality or nationality, or
holding different political views. Therefore, the purpose of illegal immigrants and legal immigrants
are the same to some extent. However, the two methods of immigrations are completely different.
Mostly illegal immigrants enter the United States through smuggling, referring to "immigrants" who
non–citizens illegally cross the

Immigration And Immigration Policy
Immigration policy has played an important role on the federal level; however, it has gained
momentum in terms of the direct involvement from state and local governments. Over time, state
and local governments have become increasingly involved in creating and enforcing immigration
policy in response to the federal government's inability to address this specific issue. The
consequences of these policies have generated controversy regarding the ethical, economic, and
legal implications of these aggressive immigration policies along with an increase in copycat
legislation by other states. Although the federal government has not been able to fully address this
issue, it is still an important matter that would be better handled by the federal government in a
universal approach as opposed to individual state and local actions. Therefore, this paper will be
examining the ways and implications in which state and local governments have attempted to
address immigration policy through actions of their own and how that has only reinforced the
argument that this specific issue would be better handled in the federal level. With the federal
government's failure to address immigration policy along with high levels of polarization between
Democrats and Republicans, states have taken the initiative of directly getting involved in
immigration policy. Perhaps the most notable piece of legislation regarding immigration on the state
level was Arizona's passage of SB 1070 in 2010. This law

Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration

  • 1. Immigration And The Issue Of Immigration My current event is on the issue of Immigration and Refugees that is going on in our society. Immigrants have been the back bone of what made America great. This country is supposed to be the land of opportunity. For the people that come here that is all that they hear. Wanting a fresh start from whatever country they came from. The NASW (2015) said that "Immigration has increased rapidly in the 1990s, with more than 13 million people moved to the United States" (p.176). Immigrants and Refugees is an issue that has been talked about for many years. "In 1965 the Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments provided a sweeping change in immigration law. The national origins system was abolished and a new set of priorities for admitting immigrants was adopted" (NASW, 2015, p. 176). So Immigration has been a part of our culture, American society, and policy making for a long time now. It is talked about today even with during our Presidential campaign for 2016. The problems with Immigrants and Refugees coming to America came to issue when "Donald Trump said he would deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States which is an estimated 11 million people" (Saunt, 2015). In this article the Author Claudio Saunt made it his effort to explain that is a horrible idea. Saunt (2015) wrote in his article that "In the past American cities and countries in the Southwest and Midwest tried to expel Mexican–Americans once before in the 1930s, and it was a traumatic result for the ... • 3. Immigration Policy On Immigration The famous singer–songwriter, Conor Oberst, told huffington post, "How we treat the undocumented says a great deal about us as a people and whether or not we'll continue to fulfill the fundamental American promise of equality and opportunity for all." According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 240,255 people were deported in the year 2016. However, this year the number of arrest have rose up to 38 percent (Gomez). The number of people being deported have been increasing every year. The reason behind the increase of number is unfair hearings and policy of deportation. The United States Immigration System should change their policies on deportation because it violates the constitutional rights and exposes the inequality towards immigrants. Current The United States Immigration System (USIC) policy is inhumane to the country and its legal system. There have been many incidents of brutal deportation where person is being hurt or experienced inhumanity. As stated by Mallory Shelbourne in the article published in The Hill, "The administrative complaint includes accounts from multiple women who were detained by [Immigrations and Customs Enforcement] while pregnant, including one woman who said she was unable to obtain medical attention after telling officials she was pregnant and bleeding." This exemplified the cruelty of officials in the process. Pregnant women or any medical seeking person should be taken care by officials regardless of their immigration status. ... • 5. Immigration : The Values Of Immigration To America Astrid Silva's parents brought her to America when she was four–years–old. Her father worked as a landscaper while her mother cleaned people's homes, and she learned English by reading newspapers and watching PBS so that she could keep up with her peers. Although she is undocumented, she took advantage of the wonderful academic opportunities offered to her and completed three college degrees. "Welcome to the capitalist system," Alex Alvarez, a Cuban American, warned future immigrants. "Each one of you is responsible for the money you have in your pocket. The Government is not responsible for whether you eat, or whether you're poor or rich. The Government does not guarantee you a job or a house. You've come to a rich and powerful country, but it is up to you whether or not you continue living like you did in Cuba" (Huntington, pg. 75). These powerful words express how America approaches immigration in his experience. We do not welcome others by helping them thrive on our soil, we promise them a life of "liberty and the pursuit of happiness," but refuse to accept that they cannot accomplish that on their own no matter how many hours they put in. We often argue whether immigration is beneficial to the U.S., but it is also important to understand the immigrants' side of the story. Astrid and Alex each have a different experience that is legitimate and deserves to be heard. The positive and negative effects of immigrations can be explored through former President Obama's 2014 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Immigrants And Immigration Australia is a country with a diverse culture, and immigrants are an important part of Australian population. Because Australia is underpopulated due to a low birth rate, negative population growth will have adverse long–term effects on the economy as the population ages and the labor market becomes less competitive. Because of these reasons the Australian government has a policy which encourages immigration. Immigrants might affect Australia in different ways such as economic and environment. Immigrants have significant influence for Australian economic in positive ways, for example economic growth, population growth and solve the aging problem. There is a simple relationship between immigration and economic growth. More people joining the production cause the economy keeps growing. The more population makes economic growth because more people buy more products. The increase in migration helps GDP growth and keeping Australian economic strong. And due to amount of the highly educated migrants ,Australian has significant change of technology. For example in the IT industry, medical and architect. On the other hand Australia's population is ageing quite rapidly. The number of Australians aging more than 60 will double after 2050, as reported by projection of the 2015 IGR. (Carvalho, 2015). In this situation government has to increase the welfare budget. However, huge number of migrants could change the structure of population ,because young labor force are the main ... • 9. The Problem Of Immigration And Immigration This paper will examine the problem of Immigration and Immigration Law. I will first discuss what Immigration Law is and how it works, then I will define the number one problem of immigration laws, "illegal immigration" and why it's so important to follow procedures. It will also address the consequences after violating the laws. Next the paper discusses three policy solutions to the problems of illegal immigration: Legalization of Immigrants, Strengthen Border Security, and Immigration Amnesty. The paper will first explain each policy solution. Then it will analyze the pros and cons, and potential strengths and weakness of each solution. Last this paper will offer some personal observations on the problem of immigration. Three government policy solutions to the problem of illegal immigration include the Legalization of Illegal Immigrants, the Secure Fence Act of 2006, and Amnesty. If these three government policies were truly implemented it will help to solve and cut back in illegal immigration activity in the United States. Section II Immigration law refers to the rules established by the federal government for determining who is allowed to enter the country, and for how long. It also governs the naturalization process for those who desire to become United States citizens. Finally, when foreign nationals enter without permission, overstay their visit, or otherwise lose their legal status, they become illegal immigrants, immigration law controls how detention and removal ... • 11. Immigration And Mexican Immigration INTRODUCTION Due to their proximity, the United States and Mexico have a particularly unique relationship. Relations between the two nations often tend to be problematic due to controversial the issues they associate with, such as immigration and undocumented immigration into the U.S. because of the uncertainty of its overall effects on the nation. However, the push and pull factors that attribute to the desire of migrating to the U.S. are often too intense to resist, and thus Mexican immigrants are the most prominent demographic to migrate the U.S., making up half of the estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants residing in the U.S. are Latino or of Mexican origin (Siemons, 2016). Due to the circumstances in which migrants are influenced to leave their country of origin, it is imperative to understand the complexity of the process of migration and how it can be a life–altering experience, and can greatly affect the psyche of an individual. Previous research has shown that migrant youth are often driven by the higher wages in the U.S., which gives them the security and opportunity to build a better life (Tucker, et al., 2012). However, there is not much information available as to how these individuals adapt to their new surroundings. Not only is a person choosing to leave all that they know in order to seek a better life, they must also adapt to life in a completely different social structure and cultural practices. For instance, recent studies have focused on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Immigration : Immigration And Immigration Immigration is a hot social and political topic but for some individuals, it is a very serious topic that greatly impacts their life and is a key factor contributing to one's self–identity. For this interview project, I chose to interview my stepmom, Francis, who identifies as part of the 1.5 generation because she immigrated to the United States from the Philippines when she was four or five which was in 1972 or 1973. In the 70s you had to do an application to get approved to go to the U.S. and it took 5–7 years to get approved. Her dad was an accountant and went to the U.S. first and was issued a Green Card and went to Hawaii. Each individual of her family had to be petitioned to go to the U.S. and she has 7 siblings, so 8 of them total. Her oldest brother Joe went first after their father. It was pretty much you got your ticket and left because you didn't know if you would ever have the opportunity to go some other time. Her mom received her Green Card sometime after that but could not leave her children so it was in the next wave she left for the United States. In the next wave, the government randomly picked four of the kid's names and Francis was one of the four picked so she went to the United States. They were separated from the rest of their siblings for 7–8 years. Her mom felt terrible leaving three of her kids in the Philippines, but Francis aunt lived in the Philippines and raised the three kids. In the end, they would all make it to the United States. • 15. Immigration And Immigration Public opinions of the citizenry make up these countries that have exclusive immigration policies and it is important to observe how these opinions influence politics. Also, anti–immigrant sentiments and populist public opinions create internal borders for immigrants making it crucial to understand the basis for immigrants exclusion in Europe. The first two theories are based off the idea of perceived threat of the immigrant population. These two theories are not objective, but mainly based on the perceptions of the people who perceive the immigrants as other. The difference between the two are what is the perceived threat over certain interests. The first is the perceived threat over material interests such as welfare benefits, economic resources, jobs, etc. Economic interests can be one factor that predicts immigrant hostility, but it should not be declared the major factor. The second is the perceived threat of symbolic interests such as national identity, way of life, cultures, etc. This can be observed in the trends of Islamophobia in Europe, specifically looking at Austria. The third hypothesis to mitigate the anxiety, whether it be material or symbolic, is through social contact theory. However, social contact theory becomes harder to implement as States are shaped by critical external events that motivate a certain response of the state that reinforces the concept of other, changing the majority–minority dynamic. The perceived threat over material interests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Immigration And Immigration Immigration Introduction Immigration in its simplest term can be conveniently referred to as the international movement of people into a destination country of which they do not have citizenship in order to settle of reside there especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens to take up employment as a migrant worker or temporarily as students. No nation on earth can boast of singlehandedly archiving all that it has without the help of immigrants. The case f America isn't different. "The idea that immigrants have the capacity to make the country more innovative and more prosperous is especially appealing at a time of deep insecurity about America's economic future and its place in a global changing economy" Demetrios G. Madeleine S. (2011) The role of immigration in fostering competitiveness in the united states. p2 Over the past few years, the world has experienced tremendous changes like never before. Advancement in technology, social security and system of government has turned things around. In all of these processes, America takes the lead and as a result there has been a tremendous in flow of immigrants from across the globe. The big question is should we continue to open our gates to strangers or shut it against them, are we sure that we no longer lack anything before looking forward to sharing the little we have with others, how are we sure that apart from coming for education and just working alone they aren't spies or individuals that can unleash ... Immigration And Immigrants Immigration, Elderly and Overpopulation Brenda Doering His 220 Heidi Mangrove November 2, 2017 Immigration, Elderly and overpopulation Americans celebrate where there ethnic or cultural background as a "nation of immigrants," there is mixed feelings about immigration. Hirschman (2006) There is a strong belief for the continued economic growth. Immigration has been a core of events of America. A dark part of American's in the past are continuing to blame another heritage groups for low wages or taking jobs. Until we accept people of all nationalities we will fail in becoming a great nation. During that era people didn't really know what "illegal" or "legally meant because there weren't any laws in this country that lead to the movement or settlement of people. Ehlich (2012) Before the 1700's land that was occupied by Native Americans, which they considered as their land. As a result, the Native Americans were wrong and had to be thrown off what they considered their land and had to move to lands of the Mississippi River. When the Europeans arrived, they had African slaves and "settled" on the lands which belonged to someone else. Ehlich (2012) The image of Manifest Destiny was used to uphold the westward expansion. To make it righteous, they used it with the war of Mexico. Some didn't agree that American Imperialism has been a very strong force in debating the foreign invasion of countries. • 21. Immigration And Illegal Immigration During our most recent Presidential election, Donald Trump brought up the topic of illegal immigration in most of his debates. Stating that he would build a wall to separate Mexico and the United States because of his belief that immigration is hurting our society. Many of his voters also believe this as the truth. Carrying the idea that illegal immigration lessens the economy, burdens our Government institution and is unfair to those who came to America legally. However, undocumented immigrants carry much more positive affirmations than negative ones for the United States. The United States economy was originally built on the backs of immigrants. In today's economy, illegal immigrants build a great foundation to help bring out the best for other citizens. Supplying a workforce for jobs that other Americans may not want. Cleaning, house care, lawn work, dog walking, construction, and so on. Seeing it from the other perspective, it could be thought that illegal immigrants are stealing these jobs away from Americans. However, immigrants who participate in these jobs help stimulate the economy. Working in jobs that create time for whoever hired them. This allows whoever the individual is to be more productive or to do whatever they want with the saved amount of time they have. The economy is stimulated by this as the saying the more time; the more money said person could make. Also, participation by immigrants creates more revenue for the Government. • 23. Immigration : Immigration And Immigration What is immigration? Immigration is when a person from one country moves to another country with the plan of staying permanently. There are many reasons why someone may want to immigrate to another country such as the United States of America. According to the text around 214.2 million people immigrated in 2010 alone. The positive pulls may be for job opportunities, higher wages, educational opportunities, health care, family and friends (Guest, 2014). The negative pushes for a person to immigrate may be from poverty, famine, natural disasters, war, ethnic conflict, genocide, disease, political or religious reasons, lack of jobs, etc. People usually choose to immigrate for a better state of living. Immigration isn't always approved of or appreciated by everyone however. Immigrants often face hardships like racism and discrimination by those living in the communities they move to. In the film 9500 Liberty the Mexican population that had moved into the town over the last many years were being attacked by a group of people who thought they were harming the community. The group, being extremely racist, got a policy passed to make immigrants, who they called illegals, move out of their homes and split their families. This hardship brought the community together as an enemy against this hate group and eventually got part of the policy removed that allowed the Mexican immigrants not to be discriminated based on how they look or speak. • 25. Immigration And Immigration After the horrific events of 9/11, the urgency for national security and amounts of anti–terrorist perceptions has increased. In fact, the national security of a country/state is deemed to be more valuable than the safety of people in desperate need of refuge. Moreover, the border is considered to be symbol of "national sovereignty" which, a state much protect at all costs (Crepeau 2007, pg. 312). In other words, since "security" is a top priority of a country, there are not many regards for the rights and interests of immigrants or non–citizens. Furthermore, in regards to anti–terrorism perceptions, they target a certain group of people by associating their entire race with terrorism and danger, creating many negative stereotypes. More importantly, these perceptions have amplified into major concern about immigrants and immigration. Evidently, this concern is responsible for the increase in immigration laws, which criminalize and prevent the mobility of migrants; and the increase in border control/policing services. Frequently, if not all of the time, migrants leave their original countries to flee from "prosecution, human rights violations, armed conflicts, or natural disasters" (Crepeau 2007, pg. 312). They may also leave their countries due to the lack of job markets in their original countries; in event of this, they seek to make the move to acquire employment to support their families. In terms of economics, migrants play a great role in the contribution to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Immigration And Immigration Now, just as the topics of race or ethnicity play a role in the quality of education a person receives or the amount of income a person earns, it also has affected the outlook on issues such as immigration. First off, it is crucial to understand what immigration is and why people migrate, in this case, more specifically to the United States. One of the reasons why people migrate to the United States is labor migration, which in the book Social Problems: Community, Policy, and Social Action, it is defined as "the movement of people from one country to another for employment" (Leon–Guerrero, p.76). This takes place because there are individuals who are clearly not surviving, or do not find the money that they are making to be enough. Through the exasperation of not being able to financially support themselves or their families, individuals seek to escape to a place where they will have more success than they currently do. The United States is viewed by many as a country with a lot of economic opportunity, yet many do not realize the amount of scrutiny that they will face because of their race or ethnicity. After many years of constant immigration from many countries, and the passing of laws to regulate not only the immigration, but the discrimination many faced when entering the country, there continues to be criticism and prejudice over this topic. In the article "The History of Racial Exclusion in the U.S. Immigration Laws," Randall states that there is an eminent danger of not only anti–immigration laws, but racial discrimination within the laws themselves (Randall, 2012). This means that while even more laws are being made, they are laws that are not very accepting of immigration. Furthermore, they may also contain clauses that involve discrimination towards some races. In "Immigration and Its Relation to Race and Ethnicity in the United States" by Bean and Bell–Rose, this idea is also brought up. Racial and ethnic relations will hold various implications in the new immigration laws (Bean and Bell–Rose, n.d.). Now, through the current presidency, this is a topic that has been highly scrutinized as well, but these type of laws, or bans in this case, have taken place. Moreover, Randall states that ... • 29. Immigration Arguments For Immigration Immigration: An Argument for Loose Borders Immigration is not only beneficial to the United States, but is a vital component of what the country is made up of. The United States of America was founded on immigration several hundred years ago when individuals and their families left their home countries for various different reasons. Immigration is defined as "the movement of people from one country into another, for residential rather than visiting purposes, which may be for a number of reasons," (QUOTE). Some of the reasons that people do immigrate to the United States are for economic, familial, personal, and social reasons. Many individuals come to this country to find a job, support their children or families, or provide better education for their children, among many other things. Regardless of the reason, Christians are called to have mercy and be compassionate toward immigrants as outlined in several different Biblical scriptures. Christians have a moral duty to look after the needs of their neighbors, and by allowing for more open borders, this can be accomplished. It is important to examine immigration from several different perspectives, especially from the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral is an important component to apply to any controversial topic because it causes one to see their worldview from four different perspectives: scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. These elements bring a fulfilling understanding of Christianity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Immigration And Immigration Immigration laws have changed throughout the centuries. During the 1900's there was a literacy test. It tested people's ability to read and write it also served as a prerequisite, in which potential citizens were chosen to vote and serve in the armed forces. The literacy tests were a way in which the government could manipulate their anti–rage against immigrants. To many non–informed Americans, it was a way of regulating the immigration process. Immigration has always been a heated topic for many people in the United States. It continues to be the thing Americans can't really fix in terms that all parties can agree. To begin, the main issue in the editorial of "The Immigration Law," published by the New York Times was about creating a new system in which the literacy test was not the only thing taken into consideration. An issue with the central focus of the literacy test is that it doesn't gear its focus to what is important such as the person's criminal background. A question that remains unanswered to me by this editorial is, how did this literacy test protect or benefit the United States? The person's literacy skills shouldn't be the main qualification to the path to becoming an American citizen. I strongly believe the literacy test fails to determine one's history of violence. As stated in the editorial, "The alien who can conquer his thirty to forty words, in ordinary use and plainly legible print, may import a household of illiterates." This goes to show that yes, ... • 33. Immigration : Perceptions Of Immigration Perceptions of Immigration Many people around the world have to move to different countries for different situations. Some of them have to move because their parents were transferred by their work. Others are moving because they want to live in another country. There are other people that move because they are looking for new opportunities to succeed or because they are escaping because of violet reasons in their countries. This process of moving from one country to another is called immigration. This word has been used in many different situations every day. The most common definition is to talk about people that move illegally to another country. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, immigration "is process through which individuals become permanent residents or citizens of a new country" (Perry 315). It is incredible that when you type the word "immigration" into an internet search engine, the first sources that come up have nothing to do with the actual word. You have to scroll down a lot to actually find the definition. The first thing that comes up are problems, the new policies of the government, other misconceptions, and most of the sources talk about the negative aspects of immigration not the beneficial ones. The word immigration is such a hot topic that nowadays we forget what the real meaning of it is. Historically, the process of immigration has been of great social, economic, and cultural benefit to the United States. This is because people were focusing on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Immigration : Immigration And Immigration In The United... The term immigration is an international movement of people into a destination country of which they are natives or where they do not process citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens. However, as many as over million and millions of people in the world have migrated to other countries as a result of war, poverty or just the dream of a better life. Obviously, the number of immigrants has increased, so has controversy about immigration policies. "What they want is essentially identical to work hard and achieve happiness, safety, and security for themselves and their families. A founding premise of America is that this is a place for immigrants to come and start over" (Heller, Becca). As being an immigrant myself there is a lot I didn't have to experience because when I came to the United States my legal status was with a permanent residency and in the years, came I was able to become a US citizen. Especially, with everything that has been going on the news regarding immigration from the Trump administration to whom their focus is on deportations and cancel many benefits for non–working families and children. A good example of that is the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), this is a program that has helped hundred and thousands of young people who were brought to the country illegally as children to allow them to stay the same as TPS (Temporary Protected Status) which was created for certain individual's due to the conditions of their country that had prevented the country's nationals from returning safely or unable to handle their return accordingly. During recent years, the immigration topic has been the forefront to all political debates. In addition, research studies showed by Patrick Oakford and Robert Lynch recommend, "Legal status and a road to citizenship for the unauthorized will bring about significant economic gains in terms of growth, earnings, tax, revenues, and jobs" (Oakford, P and Lynch, R 2013). On the other hands, for the past decade, aggressive deportation strategies have resulted in the removal and return of more than 3 million immigrants. • 37. Immigration Into Canada Immigration Into Canada Abstract This paper is concerned with the recent wave of Hong Kong immigrants into Vancouver. The stage is set for this discussion by first explaining some background behind Canadian immigration policy and then discussing the history of Chinese immigrants in Vancouver. From these discussions we are informed that Canadian immigration policy was historically ethnocentric and only began to change in the late 1960s. It was at this point that we see a more multicultural group of immigrants into our nation. The history of Chinese immigration in Vancouver, and for that matter, Canada is not positive one. Throughout the 20th Century the Canadian government has set targets for the number of immigrant entries based upon economic criteria. Periods of encouragement have included the early decades of this century along with the reconstruction era of Post World War II. The 30s, 40s and the recession of the early 80s have been periods during which the national government has discouraged immigration. At times, economic concerns have given way to humanitarian ones such as during the Soviet invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and during the Vietnamese refugee crisis of the 70s. Generally, however, Canadian immigration targets have reflected the rate of economic expansion and employment. An exception to this rule was during the latter part of the 1980s. Worry over the declining fertility rate and our ageing population led the federal government to raise its annual targets despite high unemployment. Most recently, under economic pressures, the most recent Liberal government once again lowered the immigration level. The Geography of Immigration There have also been attempts at controlling the geography of immigrant settlement. The Federal government stated that one of the primary goals of immigration is to, "foster the development of a strong and viable economy and the prosperity of all regions in Canada." Immigration in our country has been seen as a means of promoting economic development in less prosperous regions, as well as supporting heartland areas. While the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, it closes the entry to all refugees for 120 days and reduces the number of refugee admissions to only 50,000. The order links a connection to terrorism, particularly to the attack on September 11, 2001. Without these brave generations of immigrants who had risked themselves to travel to our shores, our nation simply would not be the successful country that it has been today. According to the American Immigration Council, immigrants create job and business opportunities, increase the wages of native–born workers, and boost the economy in America. President Trump says the goal of this Executive Order is to provide protection and security for our country. However, the nationalities that he selected on his ban list have not killed a single person in the U.S. According to the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the nationalities that were involved with the attack of September 11, 2001 were Saudis, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon. Based on this evidence, the travel ban will not make America safer; therefore, the Executive Order doesn't serve its true purpose. The U.S Government will need to do more than just extreme vetting and restricting certain nationalities from coming to U.S soil to keep America safe. He will need to unite and persuade the people in America and around the world that having the freedom of religion and tolerance surpass jihad. Most importantly, we should welcome refugees who are fleeing violence and persecution instead of denying them. • 43. Immigration And Immigration The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact, one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans. In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and international laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream that Joseph had about "an angel of the Lord" (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his wife and their new baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him since Herod did not want to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is important because part of the context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the Messiah. • 45. Immigration About Immigration Multitudes of people every year try to illegally cross the border between Mexico and the United States. They do this in the hope that if they become citizens, they will gain the freedom and opportunities Americans have. This is what Turcios' family was aiming for. This family originates from the Honduran countryside, this family had minimal paying jobs, so they saved up enough money to be illegally smuggled into the US border in 1994. They considered returning back, but after a hurricane that struck Honduras, they remained. They tried to smuggle their children but were only able to get some of them to the US. The author is trying to say that immigration is a hard process and that the government does not seem to care. The author is trying to say that one may have big dreams, but turning it into reality is a whole other story. In addition, if someone truly believes in their dreams, then their own lives will not be as essential to them. Immigration is not necessarily a walk in the park, only we don't perceive this way because we have never walked in their shoes. Other than the fact that an immigrant may feel inferior to others, they are not treated equally by the government. You obtain a couple of job applications and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to fill out. Naturally, as you fill out these forms you ask your parents for your social security number, however, this is the moment you find out that you are undocumented. Shocked and in disbelief, you can't help to see all your hopes and dreams go down the drain. Nevertheless, like many other undocumented students, you discover there is still hope for your situation. For instance, your research leads you to former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects minors who were brought to this country illegally as children. Created through executive action in June of 2012, DACA gives young undocumented immigrants: protection from deportation and a work permit. Subsequently, on September 5th, 2017, the Trump administration rescinds the DACA policy, and approximately 800,000 young immigrants will become eligible for deportation at the end of six months. Therefore, the only way to update our immigration system is for Congress to pass immigration reform, which offers a pathway to citizenship, plus, acknowledge that the 14th Amendment applies to homosexual conduct and illegal aliens. Does immigration, a component of globalization, impact one identity more than another? These questions are increasingly relevant with the well–documented rise of European nationalist parties, but there are still questions about whether these are empirically connected phenomena. Immigration, a facet of globalization, is widely discussed, as well as other impacts of globalization, confirming the importance of this trend (Ferreira, Pessoa, & Dos Santos, 2016; Merdzhanovska, 2015; Czaika, & de Haas, 2014; Borchert, & Yotov, 2017; Zolberg, & Woon 1999; Ceobanu, Escandell 2010). An abundance of literature exists on the impact of globalization in various areas. Scholars have argued that globalization affects, and does not affect ethnic conflict (Ishiyama, 2004; Olzak, 2011). Others have argued a connection between globalization and the outbreak of terrorism as disadvantaged groups react to globalization (Lutz, Lutz 2014; Khan, Estrada, 2017). Research on the human migration component of globalization finds an increase in migration from nation to nation, increasing interactions between formerly separate groups, and they hypothesize ethnic conflict being a result of this (Olzak, 2011). Economic globalization proliferates trade, and the spread of information follows suit (Olzak, 2011). These conclusions are frequently referenced as consequences of globalization, but what this means for whether or not an individual will identify with the nation or global identity remains unclear. There has been a bias belief that immigrants have came to America and have consumed all the jobs and create a terror in society. There is a negative bias towards the immigrants due to the severity of crimes committed. Due to the negative bias, immigrants are deemed to increase the danger to national security and public safety. There is a large disparity between the total number of immigrants compared to citizens so crime rates are used to compare. Thesis Statement American citizens are more likely to commit crimes rather than both legal and illegal immigrants. Research According to the studies on over 200 Metropolitan areas, immigrants committed less crimes on average compared to natural born citizens. Therefore, continuously studying immigration policy is essential to understanding the potential impact on the United States. This capstone will examine social–disorganization theory and how it perpetuates the stigma associated with immigrants and criminal behavior, specifically as it relates to DACA and the future of immigration policy. The United States legislation has excluded whole nations and regions from migrating due to internal and external factors. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Page Act of 1875 restricted Chinese female immigration. In 1917 and 1924, quota systems were adopted to prohibit considerably "undesirable and "inferior" ethnic groups and races. In many jurisdictions around the world, undocumented immigration was long considered a civil offence in which violation resulted in fines and deportation. Now, however, illegal crossings are often treated as criminal violations carrying overly punitive consequences such as incarceration in harsh detention centers. For example, the trend seen in many cities in the United States of criminalizing homelessness through so called 'get tough' policies reflects the upper classes desire for public health and safety, protection of economic interests in business districts and the maintenance of city aesthetic. Although, these policies do not address the causes of homelessness rather they exacerbate the problem and violate the liberties and human rights of citizens (Foscarinis, Cunningham–Bowers & Brown, 1999). Criminalization is perhaps the most repressive and intrusive applications of state power on a citizen and is often implemented, as is the case with the homeless, to target the 'less–desirable' social groups (Persak, 2016). Moreover, while formal criminalization in the form of legislation and criminal consequences for infringement works as a social control, it is not the only form of criminalization that occurs. • 61. Immigration And Immigration Immigration has a negative effect on government budget. There are two types of public goods, pure and congestible. If the public goods are "pure", or nonrivalrous and nonexcludable, nonrivalrous means the good may be consumed by one consumer without preventing simultaneous consumption by others, then more taxpayers in the form of immigrants spread out the tax cast without diminishing the quality of the goods. If the public good is "congestible" more immigrants could decrease the quality of goods, promoting the government to spend more tax dollars to maintain quality (2014, np.). Immigrants are unable to shoulder their own burden, so the government and tax payers must shoulder that weight. Immigration also affect the expenditures and revenues of a government. "Immigrants generate additional tax revenues for the general fund, holding all else constant" (Loveless, 1996, p. 104). Generating revenue increases the amount of money that circulates through the economy. Immigrants also simultaneously according to Loveless increases expenditures as well (1996, p. 113). • 63. Immigration Policy And The Immigration Sector Immigration PAD 3034 Juan Sarmiento Florida International University July 9th, 2015 Abstract In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However, most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that is widely used by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they end up being stranded and thus are forced to accept low–paying jobs with poor working conditions. The solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both the immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently came up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the employee base mainly consists of people of a certain cultural background or ethnicity or who come from the local area, it may be difficult to assimilate immigrants into the work culture. In order to develop a healthy work environment, we need to mainly implement diversity training programs to help get everyone at the same position so as to develop a healthy work environment. Two of the major problems with immigration are that the immigrants' cultural and national identities are diluted, and most of it is illegal. This means that most of the illegal immigrants are now working for lower wages. Morover, in many areas, these immigrants are working in jobs that legal citizens might deem beneath their ... • 67. The Immigration Issue Of Immigration Immigration is one hot topic in today's conversation and society. Many think that immigrants coming to America are taking many jobs away from who need them. Some also think that there are jobs being taken away are not ones that Americans would not perform due to the horrible working conditions, low pay, and lack of important medical coverage. The immigration issue has come to a point where the United States must make a decision to spend a lot of money to curtail the amount of immigrants coming here. Immigrants are not necessarily taking jobs away from the hard American worker. The work occupations that the immigrants take are illegal for any legal (licensed) employer to employ any American worker. The typical job sites that would be including but not limited to: unsanitary working conditions, dangerous equipment without proper safety precautions, extremely long working days, and less than minimum wage for work rendered. There is not one citizen in this country that would stand for such an outrageous environment to work in or work for a company that allows it to happen. Many citizens would go directly to an inspection board to have the factory and/or plant evaluated to see if the factory could pass any sort of inspection for the welfare of the workers. Hence, the factory/plant would be closed down and there would be even fewer jobs for Americans. Immigrants are a growing part of the labor force. • 69. Immigration And Immigration Policy When immigration policy is discussed, typically, it is discussed within the confines of egalitarian notions and sentiments, and inside the boundaries and parameters set by generally Marxist– influenced social democracy. Characteristically, it is not discussed pertaining to the concept of a social order built on the rights of property owners, sharers, and contributors to and of the common stock– which at their discretion– may exclude bad apples, lazy contributors, rotten characters, trespassers, and terrorists. Once egalitarian sentiments and notions are rejected full–scale– (only giving credence to those that have empirical weight or logical consistency) more proper, more substantive interdisciplinary analyses may reveal that the current investigative techniques employed by current mainstream political theorists are– in the context of reality, incorrect, superficial and quite shallow. –– Immigrants– illegal or not, do not have the first claim to ownership of common stock or common land. Immigration isn't necessary for the benefit of the host nation's economy. In any case, one might prefer lower living standards rather than higher living standards in exchange for greater distance from others. Moreover, no multicultural society has ever lasted very long. In fact, diverse neighborhoods report less social cohesion than neighborhoods with a less diversity. Citizens who are of the host nation fall under jurisdiction of the host nation. By coming into the jurisdiction of the host nation, naturally, all trespassing parties are breaking the law. Stakes of common land/stock per citizen will shrink, while shares per illegal immigrant will grow. Law abiding citizens are punished (taxpayers) by following laws while illegal immigrants are rewarded for refusing to abide (tax consumers). Incentivizing illegal immigration will lead to more of it. According to TIME Magazine (2006): "The U.S.'s borders, rather than becoming more secure since 9/11, have grown even more porous. And the trend has accelerated in the past year. It's fair to estimate, based on a TIME investigation, that the number of illegal aliens flooding into the U.S. this year will total 3 million––enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 737–700 airliners, or ... • 71. Immigration : What Is Immigration? What is Immigration? So the topic i picked for my final will be Immigration. In my word, immigration is the act to move on. When people move from one country to another it's called immigration. If you think about it, we are like birds. Birds or animals move home from home in the winter to keep warm. Animals migrates so they can keep warm. Many immigrants plan to live in the new country for a long period of time. They want to become citizens of the new country. The number of people who immigrate to a new country is very large. In 2009, over 200 million people changed countries. That sounds like a lot of people. Actually, that is only three of every one hundred citizens of the world or 3%. The rest of the citizens of the world stayed in their own countries. Lots of immigrants have trouble in their new homes. My family are immigrants. They came here with my older sister when she was 4 years old. My parents wanted a better life for us. And they also planned having my brother and I when they got here. I say my parents did a great job teaching us this and what the world is really about. You did teach me things to Mr. Wagner. In your class, I thought how easy everything can be in this world. Like the college thing. Yes i plan going to college because having my parent they can't so nagging me to go to college. I may be off of topic right now but my point is that i find the meaning of immigration as the act to make a new live for yourself. That's what my parents did. If Bernie ... • 73. Globalization and Immigration Introduction Nowadays migration is getting to be one of the dominant characteristics of the modern world since at the present moment that movement of people and migration of citizens from one country to another become a norm. Not surprisingly that such unparallel and extremely high level of migration results in substantial demographic, ethnical and socio–cultural changes in many countries of the world. In this respect, it is worthy of mention that such a situation with the migration is the result of the recent trend in the world economy which is characterized by processes which are generally called globalization. The process of globalization is overwhelming and involves practically all countries of the world with rare exceptions which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Naturally, it resulted in an extreme specialization of countries that makes their economies one– sided, and consequently more exposed to economic and social crisis. However, globalization developed international contacts and made it possible to cooperate on the global scale. As a result, nowadays, basically due to the high level of development of IT and Internet, specialists physically living in different countries of the world may work on one and the same product. So, it may be said that globalization "eliminated geographical boundaries between countries" (Gomory 2002:187). As for its effects, they are quite contradictive. The contrast is particularly obvious between well– developed countries and developing ones. In short, its effect may be expressed in one phrase, richer countries become richer, and poor countries become poorer. Though it sounds a bit radical and more precisely, it should be said that globalization makes developing countries more dependant on well– developed and it also makes practically all the countries of the world more submitted to global crisis since their economies are closely interlinked than a crisis in one country would lead to the same effect on economies of other countries that are its economic partners. In this respect, migration seems to be probably the most effective by such a striking contrast that leads to high level of emigration from developing countries and respectively high level of ... • 75. Immigration Vs Legal Immigration In the past 10–15 years, the world has become more globalized with a higher degree of relevance. As people have been moving since time began, the economy continues to improve when the local economy is strong enough to accommodate the new influx of people and dropping when it is weaker. In each U.S. presidential election, there are several key problems. One of the most debated issues for candidates is immigration. This issue always points the illegal immigration, it is totally different from legal immigration, in terms of their goals, the effects on the country and their values. Firstly, illegal immigrants and legal immigrants can be treated as two sides of a same coin. According to Roy (1996), the level of illegal immigration is increased with the level of legal immigration at the same time. Similarly, when the level of legal immigration declines, the level of illegal immigrants will also be reduced. The reason for this phenomenon can be interpreted as that both the illegal immigrants and the legal immigrants chose immigrants for the same reason. For example, people want to evade persecution based on race, religion, nationality or nationality, or holding different political views. Therefore, the purpose of illegal immigrants and legal immigrants are the same to some extent. However, the two methods of immigrations are completely different. Mostly illegal immigrants enter the United States through smuggling, referring to "immigrants" who non–citizens illegally cross the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Immigration And Immigration Policy Immigration policy has played an important role on the federal level; however, it has gained momentum in terms of the direct involvement from state and local governments. Over time, state and local governments have become increasingly involved in creating and enforcing immigration policy in response to the federal government's inability to address this specific issue. The consequences of these policies have generated controversy regarding the ethical, economic, and legal implications of these aggressive immigration policies along with an increase in copycat legislation by other states. Although the federal government has not been able to fully address this issue, it is still an important matter that would be better handled by the federal government in a universal approach as opposed to individual state and local actions. Therefore, this paper will be examining the ways and implications in which state and local governments have attempted to address immigration policy through actions of their own and how that has only reinforced the argument that this specific issue would be better handled in the federal level. With the federal government's failure to address immigration policy along with high levels of polarization between Democrats and Republicans, states have taken the initiative of directly getting involved in immigration policy. Perhaps the most notable piece of legislation regarding immigration on the state level was Arizona's passage of SB 1070 in 2010. This law ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
