Stan Shipley, Licensed Architect and Senior Project Manager, is recognized for successful project
delivery, rescuing troubled projects, and coordinating complex teams with his unique blend of
motivational leadership and innovative problem solving. He regularly surpasses client's expectations
with his deep knowledge of architecture, diverse project types, building components, and construction.
He has rescued large institutional projects from the brink, including one of the largest high schools in
the US; he has developed designs for global clients such as Hyatt with winning solutions that
maximize economic performance. He currently provides consultant services including urban planning,
design, and construction services in all project types to Los Angeles clients.
With WWCOT Architecture and Interior Design for seven years, Stan served as both principal and
project director; he helped land and develop projects for the LAUSD and LAPD bond programs. This
effort lead in the design, renovation, and construction of a sequence of facilities for both LAUS, and
the Los Angeles Police Department, totaling 1M sq. ft.
As a project director, his mission was grounded in building goodwill with stakeholders, solving difficult
problems, and creating a harmonious experience for owners, despite setbacks. This philosophy
supported him, in particular, as he guided the Roybal Learning Center in downtown Los Angeles to
completion. Stan's multi-project approach and the resultant databases and regulatory relationships
facilitated WWCOT’s expansion in securing additional projects and clients. The LAUSD and LAPD
projects subsequently won multiple awards from local AIA chapters and civic groups.
As a consultant to Nadel Architects, Mr. Shipley worked on the development of urban housing projects.
While there for only a short time, he lent his expertise to teams in the pre-development and planning
phases of several prestigious mixed-use projects in Los Angeles.
Armed with leadership skills and resourcefulness, he was promoted early in his career to Principal at
Seiber Design, Atlanta, GA. With talent for designing and managing diverse building types and spaces,
he focused on aspects of the hospitality business, setting design standards for clients such as for
Houston's and Hyatt. He also served as a professional resource for MARTAs Access Advisory
Committee, at Georgia Tech’s Rehabilitation Technology Center.
Mr. Shipley received his MArch from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a concentration in Urban
Studies and Development. He received his BA in Applied Mechanics and Engineering Sciences from
UC San Diego. He also attended the California Institute of Technology as an under graduate.
Mr. Shipley’s Georgia Tech MArch thesis, the Idea of Progress and International Expositions, focused
on urban planning themes and paradigms expressed in the 19th and 20th century expositions.
Subsequent master planning efforts for Delta Airlines, the Midtown (Atlanta) Business Association, and
for projects for Hilton Head Island, and LAUSD and LAPD projects have all focused on the urban
character of the developments in these varied industries.
Mr. Shipley is a member of the AIA and a LEED Accredited Professional of the USGBC and is active in
the Los Angeles design community.
