My mom sat beside me as I recovered from surgery. I could tell something serious was being
conveyed. I watched tears begin to stream down her face as she spoke on the phone. My dad
reluctantly informed her of the outcome of Belle 's veterinarian appointment.
Belle was introduced to our family in 1994 when a friend of my middle–school aged sister needed
someone to rescue an unwanted litter. This was crazy to me because my dad, who had a horrible
memory of wild cats attacking him as a boy under his family farmhouse, hated cats. My mom on the
other hand, loved cats. I never imagined he would allow my young sister to have this pet. Despite
my assumptions, he did.
My mom convinced him the circumstances would only be for a few months. Despite my dad 's hope
in this temporary adoption,16 years later, we still had Belle!
Named after a Disney movie 's princess, our cat, Belle! was far from princess–like. She made
Garfield look compassionate. For instance, she would meow as if she wanted you to pet her, but as
one talked to her and caressed her back, she 'd pop their hand with her paw.
I noticed after we had her for almost a year, she wasn 't fond of me. As I sat talking on the phone one
night I noticed her hunched behind the chair, wiggling her back feet quickly as if she was about to
pounce her prey. The more I inquired of her disposition, the more I was certain she was about to
pounce me. Quickly she came out to attack my leg, walked off to the side, shook

Fairytales : Fairytale, Legend, And Fairytales
Stories in the form of folktale, fairytale, legend, and myths draw in the audience by intriguing their
creativity and opening the realm of imagination. They do so by using abstract settings, storylines,
and characters where there reader is forced to think outside the box of ordinary life and discover a
world they may have never knew existed. Many times these fairytales use the gateway of magic to
make these ideas more fathomable to the reader and create the illusion that it is all make believe.
Magic is something that has been used throughout history in folktales, legends, and fairytales
because it does all the explaining on its own of why the characters or story can be so spectacular

The Frog Princess shows this action with this specific quote: The others had heated the ovens as
usual. One loaf was burned black. The other was quite uncooked. The Tsar took the three loaves,
and tasted each one. Of the first, he said, "A starving man might try to eat it." Of the second, he said,
"Even rats wouldn't touch this gluey mess." Of the third, he said, "How light it is, and golden! I must
give a dinner party, and share it with my guests" (13).
This defies all expectations of a frog being inferior to humans, but in fact this story teaches us to not
have preconceived notions. Thirdly, there is a marriage between a human and animal which is
abstract from our usual idea of marriage. The Frog Princess features a dating relationship between a
human and a frog which is different than what a reader would think is normal. They read this with
the hopes of the frog someday turning into a human princess they can relate to more. Lastly, the
book ends with this motif of a happily ever after and that desire for the frog to turn into a human
princess becomes a reality. They end the story with the princess and prince being happy for the rest
of their lives. There is also an element of wealth in the ending because they reside in a palace and
this shows us they do not have to worry about money being a problem. The Frog Princess

Forensic Felines: How Our Cat Companions Can Crack Cases
For centuries, forensic science has relied on one thing: evidence. That evidence has come in many
different forms over the years; it can be derived from eyewitness testimony, ballistics, fingerprints,
and even DNA. Investigators painstakingly search crime scenes for clues to solve cases, making
sure to check every possible location for a key bit of trace evidence. It is therefore ironic that with
such emphasis on painstakingly capturing every detail of a crime scene, crime scene investigators
too often neglect that which is right in front of them. What could possibly be a part of so many
households turned murder scenes? How could something be so common, yet so neglected by those
in search of evidence? The answer to this question can be found on a sofa, table, or countertop,
staring investigators––sometimes literally––in the face. Yes, this source of evidence is a beloved
companion of families and crazed widows alike: the cat.
Cats, like other pets, are often neglected at crime scenes in order to focus on the more pertinent
details of the case. They are sent away to shelters or family members without a second thought; if
left at the scene, they are perceived as a nuisance and potential hazard to evidence fidelity. Mr.
Fluffernuggets, however, may be hiding a secret behind his unassuming feline facade. Cats can be
an absolutely invaluable source

The Phantom Of The Opera
On the 2 April, 2016, I went to see the longest–running production in Broadway history, "The
Phantom of the Opera" at Majestic Theater on 247 West 44th Street Manhattan, New York. The
opening night, premiere of the spectacle was on January 26, 1988. The musical is based on the novel
"Le Fantom de L'Opera" by Gaston Leroux, under Harold Prince directory. The organizer of the
theater production is Philip J.Smith and Robert E. Wankel is the president. The musical is classified
as a horror in genre, and it aroused confusing feelings in me, from the rapture of infantile style and
delight to fine tune of plot. It revolves around the man who sheltered outside of the world in the
underground cavern who is lonely, romantic man tutors and composes operas for Christine. He hunts
the Paris Opera building in Europe. This play belongs to original track that should be familiar with
everyone. In the opera change of a leaderships happens, new directors receives a message that the
opera is hunted by a ghost as the tittle suggests–phantom. Richard and Moncharmin get another
message stated that alleged phantom wrote "the book claims" that consists excessive financial
requirements. Despite the phantom's threats the directors ignored the request. In such as a turn of the
situation, the tittle phantom came out from the hiding place and what the management took as unreal
became real. "The Phantom of the Opera" is the musical with the music by Andrew LLoyed Webber,

Animal Symbolism in Native Son by Richard Wright Essay
Animal Symbolism in Native Son by Richard Wright
Two rats and a cat are used as symbols in Richard Wright's Native Son. The rats, one found in an
alley and the other in Bigger's apartment, symbolize Bigger. Mrs. Dalton's white cat represents white
society, which often takes the form of a singular character. "Parallels are drawn between these
animals and the characters they represent at key moments during the novel" (Kinnamon 118). These
parallels help the reader identify with Bigger and understand why he acts the way he does. The
animal imagery in Native Son explains some of Bigger's behavior and generates sympathy for
Bigger and fear of whites.

Mrs. Dalton's discovery of Bigger is a serious threat to his life, which causes him to frantically
search for safety. "He turned and a hysterical terror seized him, as though he were falling from a
great height...It was Mrs. Dalton. He wanted to knock her out of the way and bolt from the room"
(Wright 97). Like the rat, Bigger is trapped and in danger, with no possibility for escape. In his last,
desperate fight for survival, he suffocates Mary, similar to the rat's wild leap for his pant leg.
The second rat enters the novel to remind readers that the desperate situation of the first rat is the
same situation Bigger faces now. Bigger fears for his life as he is trapped in the city with no escape
after Mary's bones are discovered. His wild movement through the city streets is similar to the first
rat running in a circle, desperately searching for a place to hide. "He reeled through the streets, his
bloodshot eyes looking for a place to hide. He paused at a corner and saw a big black rat leaping
over the snow. It shot past him into a doorway where it slid out of sight through a hole. He looked
wistfully at that gaping black hole through which the rat had darted to safety" (Wright 288). The
second rat runs across the white snow the way Bigger is running through the white–controlled city,
both looking for safety. This rat serves as a reminder of the desperate circumstances that Bigger
faces.

Analysis Of The Great Cat Massacre
Darnton does a fantastic job about inviting the reader into to the text. This can best be described a
tour of Darton's mind and thoughts with no particular bias. Through further analysis of Darton's The
Great Cat Massacre reveals that not all subjects in the seventeenth and eighteenth century benefited
from the enlightenment. These essays and short stories tell us that the peasants, described in
"Peasants Tell Tales" have violent, nasty, and brutal outlooks on life based on their harsh upbringing
and the stories they told and passed down. Similarly, the workers in "Workers Revolt" are not
pleased with their masters considering there was a time that the masters once ate at their own table
and worked along side the workers, this is their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the story of Little Red Riding Hood doesn't end in a typical "Disney style" with Little
Red taught her lesson to not talk to strangers. Rather the story begins with a strip tease and
concludes with Little Red in conversation with her Grandmother in bed saying, "Oh grandmother,
what big teeth you have!" The wolf (disguised as the grandmother) then says, "It's for eating you
better, my dear" (Darnton 10). Then he eats her! How could this awful graphic content get into a
children 's story? Darnton's ideas were simple, "History looked 'immobile' at the village level,
because seigneurialism and the substance economy kept villagers bent over the soil, and primitive
techniques of farming gave them no opportunity to unbend" (Darnton 25). With this, life as a
peasant was miserable so miserable that, "In Crulai, Normandy 236 of every 1000 babies died
before their first birthday during the seventeenth century" (Darnton 27). Death played a gigantic role
in a peasants life so much that it contaminated their stories, as well, gearing the peasants towards
survival as their main goal and or being the boss of other peasants. The tale of "Puss 'n Boots" can
support that claim, the version most kids know is a classic man's best friend tale about a cat/fox
helping the owner revamp his life and eventually become rich once again. Now passed down
through peasants the story speaks of the cat as a fairy (La Renarde) that solves riddles and puzzles

Cat Popularity Throughout The World
Cat Popularity Throughout the World Cats are everywhere we go. We see them in the homes of our
friends, relatives, and maybe even our own. On the way home from work I see them running across
the street in front of the car. On my early morning runs they scurry into the bushes as I approach.
They are constantly popping up on our computers or phones, whether in a funny video shared on
Facebook or a cute meme a cousin posted on Instagram. In America, cats are a beloved pet,
competing only with dogs for the number one spot of most popular pet in America. In several
countries I've visited in Europe however, I noticed some different attitudes. In Spain and Croatia, on
several occasions I saw massive cat colonies congregating on the beach or in ... Show more content

They can also be found portrayed with two paws in the air, which can stand for protection. The
talisman is thought to have first come to being and use in the early Edo (17th–19th) century in Japan
(Kollus). In China, there was a cat goddess named Li Shou who was put in charge of running the
world, after the gods decided a creature of the Earth should rule the world. However, in short, as
cats are known for their love of long naps, the earth began to fall to pieces under the cat's watch, so
the gods chose to give cats a different responsibility of keeping earthly time with their eyes and
pupils, which could apparently control the sun's movement above the horizon where it would set
(Mark). These two stories are great examples of cats in Asian culture/mythology, and a reason why
cats are well regarded and loved in countries like China and Japan, with the latter being especially
known for its love of cats with things like its Hello Kitty amusement parks and popular cat cafes
where cats can roam free and interact with customers. Recent research theories even suggest that
cats might have actually had origins in China, instead of spreading over there from Egypt and
Greece as scientists once thought. Though not a definitive conclusion, recent archaeological
evidence suggests that cats didn't end up in China only 2,000 years ago from Egyptian sources.

The Dangerous Life of a Squirrel in Autumn Essay
The sky is the color of cold stones as I cautiously make my way down the trunk of dying oak. The
few remaining leaves of the tree rustle as a light autumn morning breeze passes through them. One
of them is blown free, making a soft snapping sound as it breaks away from its anchored brothers
and begins to fall to the ground below. It twists and turns as it goes and I watch it in momentary
curiosity. I have seen this often before. It is still mostly green, only slightly browning at the edges. It
makes a show of falling, as though it knows it has an audience. It spins and dances, carried across an
unseen stage by the breeze. The breeze fades and dies and the leaf follows shooting down quickly
towards the earth like a predatory birding diving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I pause briefly between sprints to listen for sounds of predators, or simply to hear what the birds are
singing about today. I twitch my nose and catch the scent of pecans, acorns, and other forms of nut
within the area. They are my usual food source and are very scarce now that it is so close to winter. I
must act quickly or some rival animal will snatch them away. I take off as fast as light in the
direction of a particularly strong scent. My heart pounds in my chest so fast that it's almost not
beating at all. I can smell and hear my rivals as they race towards the scent as well. I am quite
certain there will be a fight on arrival. I prepare myself to win this race and the fight that may
follow. Yet, when I cross the span of the front yard of an old abandoned house I am attacked. I cry
out in fear and try to break free as sharp fangs sink into the delicate flesh of my bushy tail. I scratch
my paws over the ground, ripping out small bits of dying grass and pebbles. I hear a guttural
rumbling and glance back in horror as my eyes meet those of my captor. My captor is a pampered
gray house cat with the blue of the summer sky and the mischief of a devil in its piercing gaze. It is
well groomed with long fur and a purple band around its neck with a little bell on it. I am paralyzed
by the cat's gaze, unable to do anything more than stare back at it as my heart beats overtime. The

This paper describes Carly's service learning project in which she spent twenty hours volunteering at
the Alachua County Humane Society (ACHS). She worked with dogs and cats, caring for them until
they were adopted into forever homes. She also formed relationships with fellow volunteers,
specifically one from the same Family, Youth, and Community Sciences (FYCS) program at the
University of Florida. In this paper, Carly's feelings about the service learning in which she
participated will be discussed, as well as how her actions in helping animals find homes benefitted
the community. The benefits of her actions are backed up with research done by Dr. James E. Gern
and an article published in Parents Magazine. Relationships between what she's learned in her
Principles of Family, Youth, and Community Sciences class will be examined, along with her
feelings about her experience at the ACHS.

are treated well, the more volunteers, the more human contact each dog and cat can receive. She
spent most of her time interacting with different dogs in the outdoor play areas. The other portion of

Compare Two Poems in Which the Poets Explore Attitudes to...
Defying Gravity by Roger McGough and Mort Aux Chats by Peter Porter are two poems that have
death as a theme. Although they refer to death in different ways. Mort Aux Chats refers to death to
convince you to dislike cats. Whereas Defying Gravity is about a mans "victory" with death. These
poems rely on language to emphasise the attitude to death. Defying Gravity is told from the point of
view of a dying mans best friend. It uses a lots of metaphors and I think this makes the poem very
effective and clever. The first stanza of the poem explains about gravity and its significance to us.
'Gravity is one of the oldest tricks in the book' This explains that it's been around for a long time and
everyone knows about it and they will all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way McGough writes this makes it as if he is actually talking to us and it's like reading between
the lines. 'Soon now the man I love (not the armful of bones)' This shows how much the illness can
affect someone and the way they feel about someone because clearly the speaker is distressed by
seeing his friend in such a way that it then leads them on to say ' freeing himself from the tackle'
Using terms which are used in rugby really gives that part of the poem impact because it shows that
it is more personal towards the friend that he clearly cares about and the physic affects of the illness
have left such obvious affects which reminds him so much of what the person has missed out on.
'A box of left over's will be lowered into the space on loan from the clay.' This idea is taken from the
bible where humans where created from the earths clay. And now the dead man is being put back.
As a dead body in a grave. 'Then, weighed down, the living will walk wearily away.' The last line
use alteration and long words make it slower to say and gives it a slow depressive feel which makes
you think about it. Mort Aux Chats translates to death to cats. This poem is rhetorical trying to
persuade us to dislike cats. Mort Aux Chats is a political poem and it has a persuasive tone. 'There
will be no more cats' this makes the reader want to read on as they want to know why there will be
no more cats. "Cats spread infection, cats pollute the air, and cats

Description Of The Barn Cats Essay
Scenario:
It 's autumn and, just like any other season, you 're hard at work at your barn. Your barn cats are hard
at work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay.
In a brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked
skin. One of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands
through her fur. Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face,
but you chalk it up to the weather and get back to work.
A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus–like sores on your hands. They 're inflamed and
red and suddenly you 're reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more
thorough once–over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It 's easy
enough to find her; she 's resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about
hunting. She appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your
approach, but you immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected.
Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps
while others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty
and flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying
infection, they need to be treated before they get worse

Harold And Maude Character Analysis
Warren Buffett once said "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you
think about that, you will do things differently." The simplicity and accuracy of this quote may make
a person deeply question how they decide to react to what life gives them. In the movie Harold and
Maude, Harold is displayed as an odd boy who has a strange habit of enjoying to portray death, but
only to get a reaction from his mother. Harold did not always have this desire to scare his mother,
but one day when his mother was told of his "death" he enjoyed the reaction so much it changed
how he lived life. Warren Buffett may argue that Harold spent his entire life building a reputation for
himself, but everything changed in less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People similar to myself may be considered goody–two–shoes, if that is still a relevant saying. I
think about my past and there has never been a time when I deliberately wanted to bend the rules or
felt comfortable doing so. I consider myself a classical person. I enjoy understanding the mechanics
behind working systems, but find it hard to be spontaneous and go with the flow of things. I feel as
if the classical kind of person is more likely to struggle living an anti–authoritarianism lifestyle due
to the fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference to
ZAMM may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW
because he loves the aesthetics. The outer shell, or aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While
the narrator of ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if
there is no outer shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning.
Similarly, if a classical minded person, like myself, were to attempt to remove authority from my
life I may malfunction. My grades may drop because I have given up making specific scheduled
time to do homework, which would ultimately lead to a loss in career opportunities in the future.
However, I am aware that not all people are

The Problem Of Pet Overpopulation
I. Attention Getter: We all see them, those sad little faces that look up at us with their sad eyes. They
need homes and families that love them, they are stray animals.

III. Relevance: Every person in this room will either own or come in contact with an animal. We
need to know how we can keep our own animals from contributing to the problem and other ways
we can help solve it.
IV. Credibility: I am a volunteer at one of the local humane societies, I see stray animals come in

That is one every 13 seconds. Only 25 percent of animals in shelters get adopted.
b. Animals that enter shelters are either lost pets that don't have ID tags or microchips or stray and
feral animals who have never known the love of a human.
Transition: Now that we know what a problem animal overpopulation is, let's talk about how we can
help to solve this issue.
II. The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered.
a. Spay is the term for female animals while neutering is used for male animals. Both are surgical
procedures to remove the reproductive organs of the animal. By performing these procedures, our
pets cannot contribute to the problem because they cannot reproduce. According to Northwest Spay
and Neuter, if every pet was fixed then the overpopulation problem would be fix in less than 10
years. If we put it into these terms is it easier to understand: just one female dog and her puppies can
result in 67,000 dogs in six years, and one female cat and her kittens can lead to 370,000 cats being
born in seven years.
b. There are several benefits to having your own pet spayed or neutered besides helping solve this
crisis. The benefits include reducing the risk of some of the most common types of cancers, making
it likelier for animals to live a longer and healthier life, and nixing aggression problems. This causes
animals mark their territory with strong–scented urine. And contray to common

Analysis Of ' Allah Hu Akbar '
David Procter– Formal Writing
"Allah Hu Akbar" is portrayed as a war chant and terrorist motto by the media whenever there has
been a conflict around the world with Muslims or others with Middle Eastern descent. But it is
actually a prayer meaning "God is great." The media is wrongly portraying Muslims as terrorists,
Muslims follow the religion of Islam and since the attacks of 9/11 on the twin towers. Muslims,
especially in America, are suffering from discrimination from babies being forced off domestic
flights to American Muslims who were denied the second amendment of bearing arms. Even famous
musicians have been denied entry in the U.S because of their Islamic name, and Muslims not being
served un–opened cans of Coca–Cola as "it could be used as a weapon". This prejudice is creating
lethal stereotypes in today's society. The media have published articles that portray many Muslims
as terrorists. This has made many Americans believe that Muslims all have connections to Al Qaeda
and Taliban making everyone fear them in general. This discrimination is even effecting babies.
Riyanna Abdullah was an 18 month old child who was flying on a JetBlue flight from Florida back
to New Jersey. She was asked to leave the plane by flight attendants because she was on the no–fly
list. Riyanna shares the same name as a known terrorist (Islam uses similar names). Even when the
flight attendants saw that she was an infant they still refused. This prejudice against the Abdullah

Cats: Domestic Cat
The cat (or domestic cat, house cat) is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal. It is valued by
humans for its companionship and its ability to destroy vermin. A skilled predator, the cat is known
to hunt over 1,000 species for food. Intelligent, the cat can be trained to obey simple commands, and
has been known to teach itself to manipulate simple mechanisms (see cat intelligence).
The trinomial name of the domestic cat is Felis silvestris catus. Its closest pre–domesticated ancestor
is believed to be the African wild cat, Felis silvestris lybica.[1] Humans have developed several
dozen breeds of cat, in a variety of colours.

Ears
Sixty–two individual muscles in the ear allow for a manner of directional hearing:[15] the cat can
move each ear independently of the other. Because of this mobility, a cat can move its body in one
direction and point its ears in another direction. Most cats have straight ears pointing upward.
Unlike dogs, flap–eared breeds are extremely rare. (Scottish Folds are one such exceptional genetic
mutation.) When angry or frightened, a cat will lay its ears back, to accompany the growling or
hissing sounds it makes. Cats will also turn their ears back when they are playing, or occasionally to
show interest in a sound coming from behind them.
Metabolism
Cats commonly sleep curled into a tight ball.
Cats commonly sleep curled into a tight ball.
Cats conserve energy by sleeping more than most animals, especially as they grow older. Daily
durations of sleep vary, usually 12–16 hours, with 13–14 being the average. Some cats can sleep as
much as 20 hours in a 24–hour period. The term cat nap refers to the cat's ability to fall asleep
(lightly) for a brief period and has entered the English lexicon – someone who nods off for a few
minutes is said to be "taking a cat nap".
Due to their crepuscular nature, cats are often known to enter a period of increased hyperactivity and
playfulness during the evening and early morning, dubbed the "evening crazies", "night crazies" or
"mad half–hour" by some.[16][17]

Analysis of Curiosity by Alastair Reid Essay
The poem entitled "Curiosity" written by Alastair Reid is a symbolic poem that uses cats as a
metaphor for humans. It relates felines to people in the sense of curiosity, and what could be
considered actually living life to the fullest. Essentially, this work contradicts the popular phrase,
"curiosity killed the cat" by placing it within a broader context. Instead of discouraging curiosity,
Reid explains why people should embrace it. In the first stanza, the author argues that the cat may
have died from curiosity, but that it may have been a chosen death. "Or else curious to see what
death was like, having no cause to go on licking paws, or fathering litter on litter of kittens,
predictably." (lines, 2–5) Basically, the author is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one has no desire to look further in life and discover new ideas or uncharted territory, they will
eventually lose the voracity for their existence. The author even goes to say that the curious are the
only ones with lives worth living and a tale worth telling. The fourth and final stanza includes a
metaphor referring to dogs, which one can assume are symbolic of the uncurious people. Reid states
that the cats, the curious, are lucky. They are nine–lived and willing to change. Consequently, they
must be prepared to suffer consequences which seem worth the escapades and excitement they may
encounter. "And what cats have to tell on each return from hell is this: that dying is what the living
do, that dying is what the loving do and that dead dogs are those who do not know that dying is
what, to live, each has to do." (lines 39–44) That passage from the last stanza is the most significant
of the entire poem. Reid infers that life in itself is curiosity. If one truly believes that he or she is
living, they are risking consequences. He also conveys love as a risk involving curiosity, but that
one has not lived until one experiences such things. The "dead dogs", again, are the uncurious
people who simply do not understand life or love. They are the ones who will never experience life
as a cat, life as an adventure

Jim Davis Research Paper
Garfield, is an American comic character created by Jim Davis in 1978. It tells the story of a cat
named Garfield, his owner Jon and their dog named Odie. I all started in 1970 when the comic artist
Jim Davis decided to take a troll of the comic books in order to introduce a new, interesting and
relatable character and he realized that dogs were doing great but there were no cats at that time.
Davis figured that as he grew up on a farm with 25 cats, he could come up with a strip based on cats.
He then continued to create a strip with a cat as its main character and thus created Garfield. At first,
Garfield consisted of four main characters. Davis was inspired from his grandfather for Garfield's
name and personality; who Davis described as "a large cantankerous man". Jon Arbuckel was
inspired from a 1950's coffee commercial, Odie the dog was based a car dealer commercial Davis
wrote and Odie's owner who was created for Jon to have someone to talk to. The strip was originally
centered on Jon as its main character but, got rejected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Vegan Cat Food
The Ultimate Guide to Your Cats Health
The book is written to offer beneficial information on vegan foods for cats. Consequently, the
contents of the book are meant for educational purposes and not as a professional advice on the
subject discussed. While a lot of research from a wide array of sources has been used to produce this
book, the author and the publisher shall not assume liability of any kind with respect to any loss or

Introduction
Cats are among the earliest companions of men and have been kept as pets in several homesteads for
decades. The health of the cat is very important, and thus, the owner needs to make sure that the pet
is always in good vigor. Attainment of good heath transpires with the use of foods that have the right
ingredients needed by the cats. Mainly, a majority of the food that cats consume is a composition of
foodstuffs that their owners offer. However, some of the foodstuffs that individuals consume are not
recommended for the pet as they affect their health. Vegans and vegetarians are individuals, who do
not consume a number of animal products such as meat, milk, and in some instances, eggs.
Fundamentally, there is a wide range of vegan food that manufactures provide in the market for
various pets. It is vital that the individuals purchase vegan food manufactured by approved vendors
because a wrong choice in food leads to serious complications on the health of the

The conclusion does not follow from the provided premise.
1. Identify both the explicit and implicit premises of the argument presented. Assess whether the
premises of the argument presented should be accepted or rejected.
Killing people is always wrong. Euthanasia is an example of one person killing another. Therefore,
it is clear that euthanasia is wrong, and should continue to be illegal.
Explicit premises: Killing is always wrong. Euthanasia is an example of one person killing another
Implicit premises: a. Killing is wrong
b. If killing is illegal and euthanasia is just another form of killing which is wrong, it should be
illegal.
c. Any wrong act is illegal
Assessment of premises: The first premise and statement "killing is wrong" allow for subjectivity to
leap into the statement and it makes the conclusion flawed. Killing is wrong however it is not
always wrong because of circumstance. Self–defense is an instance where killing is not always
wrong and can be used to disprove and invalidate the author's argument and implicit premise that
anything wrong is illegal. Euthanasia as the author mentioned is another example which disproves
her first statement that killing is always wrong because the goal of euthanasia is to relieve one from
pain. Most patients sign wavers that give their primary givers the right to relieve them of
excruciating medical pain when and if their conditions gets unbearably worse, this is ordered liberty

Art And The Holocaust
In just twelve years, a heinous vision executed nearly six million Jewish people at the hands of
Hitler and his followers, making the Holocaust debatably the most tragic and shameful event
recorded in Earth's history. During this time, different races, ethnicities, and religious groups were
persecuted and annihilated for their beliefs that conflicted with Hitler's persistence to eliminate the
"flaws" of humanity. Hitler and his followers had one goal in mind: to cultivate a master race for the
next generation. Under his guidance for Germany, countries were destroyed and millions were
killed. Pain, death and suffering for millions, put towards an effort that would forever haunt
survivors, and leave future generations struggling to grasp at understanding the past. As time has
gone by, the number of Holocaust survivors has been decreasing expeditiously and history seems to
be slipping away from one's fingertips; however, this specific strand of events and their survivor's
legacy is continuing to reside in the current era, especially through art and literature. Novels, poetry,
paintings, films, and other forms of art relating to the Holocaust quickly surfaced after the
occurrence and still continue today. Artists search for a catharsis from the atrocious genocide that
seems to surround them. With this newly spread genre of art, many critics rose up, like Adorno, a
German philosopher, to prove that these artistic representations were degrading to the survivors and

How many of you have said this before? I have. This used to be my initial reaction almost every

viewers when presented with such sad images. We all prefer to watch those funny videos of dogs
standing on two legs or cats wearing silly outfits. And of course that's fine; we all need a little
entertainment from time to time. But knowing where these great companions of humans come from

You also get literature on caring for your new pet, plus support and guidance from shelter staff if

were abandoned or surrendered by their previous owners. Some are the victims of divorce, illness,
allergies, a new baby, inexperienced owners, a move that didn't include them, and many other
reasons. But most shelter pets are loving animals who are grateful to have a second chance at a
happy life. They can and do bond with their new owners, and become the most devoted and loving
of family pets. You save a life, and do your part in combatting pet overpopulation.
A sad fact of life is that there are far too many homeless pets than there are loving homes to care for
them. When you adopt from a shelter, you save a life and free up a cage for another needy animal
waiting to be adopted. Your money goes towards running the shelter, pet education, and spay/neuter
surgery. All of this, and you gain a loving companion too!

Case Analysis : V. South Texas Veterinary Association Essay
In Gonzalez v. South Texas Veterinary Association, the plaintiff acquired a cat whose vaccination
history was unknown. Gonzalez, 2013 Tex. App. LEXIS 15215, at *1. On two separate occasions
the defendant's veterinarian vaccinated the cat, which included a vaccination known as adjudicated
feline leukemia vaccine. Id. Several months later, the plaintiff returned to the defendant with the cat
who had developed a golf–ball sized mass. Id. at *2. The defendant diagnosed the cat with an
infection, prescribed antibiotics, and instructed the plaintiff to return if the cat did not improve. Id.
When the cat did not improve the plaintiff took the cat to another clinic which diagnosed the cat
with vaccine–associated sarcoma, a type of tumor found in cats linked to certain vaccines. Id.
Another veterinarian concurred in the diagnosis. Id. Following the diagnosis, the cat underwent two
surgeries, however, the cat was euthanized as a result of complications from vaccine–associated
sarcoma. Id.
On review in the appellate court, after the trial court granted a no–evidence summary judgment for
the defendant, were three testimonies submitted by the defendant. Id. at *2. The court held that the
testimonies did not sufficiently establish the appropriate standard of care because while each
testimony stated the applicable standard of care, none of them stated how the standard was or was
not met. Id. at *9. In addition, the plaintiff submitted expert testimony by a veterinarian who stated,

Stevenson's Veto Debate Analysis
On April 23, 1949, the Illinois Governor, Adlai Stevenson, wrote a satirical yet professional
response to a citizen's request to restrain all cats. This veto is titled, The Cat Bill Veto. The Illinois
senate received a bill from a concerned citizen. The citizen feels that cats should be contained
because of the public nuisance some see cats to be. Stevenson writes a letter expressing
understanding of the situation, but reminding the Senate that this is a minor issue compared to the
major problems being faced. While analyzing Stevenson´s response to the bill, many of us will
recognize the satirical diction and Stevenson´s ethical credibility being revealed. Throughout
Stevenson´s veto bill, it is clear that he uses satirical diction to imply

Dogs Are Dogs And Cats
To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more;
some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main
points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big
they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog
still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named "docga".
The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute
sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good
human companion. Cats have also been human's pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of
the word cat comes from old English and Middle English as "catte". The word cat means a small
domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the
biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats
usually go in a litter box that's kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a
month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is
you don't have to be there to let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to
be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to
be let out. When a dog has to go

Analyzing Cat Stevens 'Poems Father And Son'
Cat Stevens, from his own store of felt, observed, and/or imagined experiences, wrote the poem
"Father and Son". This poem creates new experiences for his audience and allows them to
participate in the poem, from which they may gain a greater awareness and understanding of their
world. Stevens utilizes his poem in order to both increase and clarify the audience's range of
experience. While interpreting and trying to understand this poem I became extremely aware of the
relationship between the two characters: a father and his son. The father and his son's relationship is
very conflicted. They have difficulty communicating and understanding one another. The father and
his son are both trying to share important information, but they aren't truly listening to each other. ...

there's so much [he has] to go through". Unlike his son, father has had plenty of experience and

takes an identical path. However, like many teenagers, the son disregards the importance of his
father's words. The son doesn't physically speak in this poem as his lyrics in the song are his
thoughts. Nevertheless, it is evident through his thoughts that he is struggling to communicate to his
father that he wants take a path different from the one his father wants him to take. His frustration is
apparent as he has tried to explain in the past, but his repeated attempts inevitably fail as his father
always "turns away again". The father disregards the importance of his son's words, claiming that

The Effects Of Lowering Stress On College Students
There isn't a better, more comforting feeling, than coming home after a long, hard day at work or
school and being welcomed at the door with a wagging tail, wet kisses, and an excited to see you
face from your dog. For many, having any sort of interaction with a pet or animal is the ultimate
cure to stress that is caused by work, people, and life. While not every college student is able to have
a loving pet in their lives, even a momentary encounter with any animal can lower stress and anxiety
levels. Multiple studies have proven that animals are a powerful form of stress relief by not only
lowering blood pressure, but also lowering a dangerous stress hormone, cortisol, which is correlated
with depression and anxiety. Interactions with animals have also proven to raise oxytocin levels,
which are linked to pleasure, relaxation and happiness. Lowering stress and anxiety in college
students will help them academically and socially throughout their college lives. College students
will experience lower stress levels, a lower level of cortisol, and live a happier stress–free life by
interacting with animals or pets throughout their time in college.
With more and more college students becoming depressed and anxious, researchers have been
working hard to try and improve college student lifestyles. According to Therese Borchard, associate
editor of World of Psychology, at least 44 percent of American college students reported feeling
symptoms of depression this past year (Borchard).

We walked down the steps of the small side porch, crossed between her work shed and the corner of
her small house and into the back yard, past the empty dog pen. Her faithful companion, Sam, the
biggest and gentlest German Shepherd I'd ever seen, died when I was five and she didn't have the
heart to take it down. I'd catch her staring out the kitchen window from time to time when washing
dishes at the kitchen sink and wondered if she was thinking about him. Sure, she had every stray cat
in a one–mile radius lining up for her leftovers, but a part of her big heart left when he did.
Behind the pen, at the end of her back yard, we walked past her rambling, smooth–skinned Crepe
Myrtle, my go to reading spot. I'd lost count of how many Hardy Boys mysteries I'd read at the base
of that old tree. At the back of her property, the land sloped gently down towards 1st Street, before
ending at the cliff and the CSX train tracks below. The land directly behind her house was empty
and in the fall and winter, the tops of the railroad cars were visible as they whizzed by, east towards
Newnan or west to Carrollton.

Analyzing Cat Stevens Song
The song "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out" by Cat Stevens, featured repeatedly in the film and on
the soundtrack of Harold and Maude (1971), was an original work created for the film. It best
represents the film and the ideas portrayed in it through the film's main characters by relating to
them through uplifting lyrics and meanings that can be associated with the pasts and presents of the
characters. It describes the way one yearns to live and displays the way the other does. For Dame
Marjorie Chardin, Maude, the song outlines her beliefs and shows how she lives her life to the
fullest. "You can do what you want, the opportunity's on." She does whatever she wants to do,
whenever she feels like doing it. She poses nude, an already discouraged practice for young people,
as an older woman, she abducted a tree from public property to replant it in the forest because it was
dying, draws happier visages on sour faced statues of saints, she used to liberate canaries from pet
shops commenting that "the world so dearly loves a cage," and she even lives in an old train ...

Essay on Cats Do NOT Cause Bad Luck
What is superstition? According to The Little Oxford Dictionary, superstition is "belief in the
existence or power of the supernatural; irrational fear of the unknown; a religion or practice based
on such tendencies; widely held but wrong idea." Let us examine that definition in depth. First, there
is "belief in the existence or power of the supernatural". This means that there is believed to be some
force that can influence the events on the Earth. Second, there is "irrational fear of the unknown."
This has been endemic to the human race since the early days when a cave man did not know if that
cave was safe to enter or if he would be attacked by a bear. Third, "a religion or practice based on
such tendencies." This is the belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some examples of common, everyday superstition include the belief that the number 13 is unlucky,
that walking under a ladder will bring bad luck, and that a black cat crossing your path can affect
your luck. Belief that black cats affect your luck goes far back in time. One king of England, Charles
I, owned a black cat. His fear of losing it was so great that he had it guarded. The day after it fell ill
and died, he was arrested. Black cats were often witches in disguise or witches' familiars. There
were also many cat charms relating to ships and the sea. Fishermen's wives would keep a black cat
at home to prevent disaster at sea, consequently the cats became very valuable and were often
stolen. If a cat ran ahead of a sailor to the pier that would bring good luck, but if the cat crossed his
path it means bad luck. For luck, cats were often kept on board ships. If a sailor was approached by
the ship's cat it meant good luck, but if the cat only came halfway and went away again it meant bad
luck. The worst possible cat–related act, guaranteed to raise a storm and bring bad luck of all sorts,
was to throw the cat overboard. Cat superstitions were also common in medicine. Fur and blood
drawn from various parts of the cat's anatomy cured everything from shingles to St. Anthony's Fire.
All of these superstitions today boil down to "Black cats cause bad luck." A cat crossing your path
will adversely affect your luck.

Benefits And Benefits Of Teaching Kids
There are many benefits to teaching kids how to make a map or plan, and apply it to a project that
they want to work on. Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own
gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring
garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to
close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too.
They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is
certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard.
If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch
first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them
and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of
them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go.
Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to
plant the seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the
distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each plant should be. Most of
this information can easily be found online. If they write the measurements down on the map, when
it is time to plant they can

happier person and has succeeded in teaching him how to love and enjoy life, which are qualities he
did not possess prior to their meeting. She makes him understand this when, after he tells her he
loves her, she says, "Go and love some more." After Maude's death, Harold drives his car over a cliff
in another attempt to make people believe he is dead again. Harold walks away playing his banjo
and dancing, things that Maude had taught him. By driving his car over the cliff to make people
think he is dead again makes Harold happy since he enjoys being dead, but the banjo and Harold's
dancing are symbols of the effects of his relationship with Maude. These signify that Harold has
grown due to his relationship with Maude and will use the advice that Maude has given him in order
to live a more fulfilling and enjoyable life.
Because this film is so influenced by it's time, it seems appropriate that the director used the music
of Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens music defined a generation, and Harold and Maude are no exception.

Animal Cruelty Is A Crime
Animal cruelty is a crime that is more often than not dismissed and rarely brought to justice. You
along with the Austin County Grand Jury need to enforce the rights of animals faced with cases of
cruelty and slaughter and punish those who disrespect the creature's right to live. Earlier this year, a
woman named Kristen Lindsey participated in a despicable act of animal cruelty when she took the
life of an innocent cat yet faced no charges. Her inappropriate displays of her "kill" aroused a huge
controversy over the issues of hunting and the safety of our pets. On April 17th, 2015, Lindsey, a
woman living in the small east–central Texas city of Brenham, posted a graphic photo on Facebook
of her latest kill. That kill was no deer or bird, but a cat. She shot the feline with a bow and arrow
that pierced right through the cat's head and it is assumed that the cat died instantly. Her motives
became clear when she went online to post about her "achievement." She stated it was her "first bow
kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it 's head! Vet of the year award ...
Gladly accepted." Lucky for her, she did win an award, and that is the award for the worst vet of the
year. Her post caused a lot of outrage, especially among animal rights activists. The news eventually
reached her job which, if you didn't get the memo earlier, is ironically at a veterinary clinic. She was
quickly fired from her job and the vet clinic had to remain closed for the next

Katherine Mansfield And Ernest Hemmingway Are Both Published
Katherine Mansfield and Ernest Hemmingway are both published writers. One was born in New
Zealand and the other in the United States during the late 19th century. This paper will compare and
contrast the setting, plot, imagery, climax, and theme between Mansfield's "Miss Brill" and
Hemmingway's "Cat in the Rain."
The setting in "Miss Brill" takes place in a public garden in France. The story states the band plays
in the Jardins Publiques (Public Gardens) in France (15). Miss Brill, the protagonist, is proceeding
on a Sunday afternoon to the gardens where she will listen to a band. Mansfield tells us there were a
number of other people out that afternoon, more than any other Sunday. The time of year appears to
be autumn. Mansfield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is a lady vicariously living through those around her. She makes observations of the patient
Englishman and his nagging wife (15). Furthermore, she observes two young girls laughing and
meeting up with two soldiers (15). Nearby resides a stiff man with a woman. The man indifference
to the woman makes Miss Brill angry. She whispered over and over "The Brute! The Brute!" (16).
She was also unimpressed by a beautiful woman that passed by. She dropped some violets, which a
young boy picked up and gave back to her. However Miss Brill see's the woman throw the flowers
away. She exclaims, "Dear me!" (16). Miss Brill views the events as a play as if she is an actress.
Each individual have their parts. Even the fur she wears around her head has a part in the play.
Mansfield advises, "It was exactly like a play. Who could believe the sky at the back wasn't
painted?" (17).
In contrast, the characters in the plot of "Cat in the Rain" are limited to the American couple, a cat,
the padrone, and a maid. The American wife sees a cat from her window. Hemingway states, "A cat
was crouched under one of the dripping green tables" (62). She desires to retrieve the cat against the
indifference of her husband. The American wife states, "I'm going down and get that kitty" (62).
George, her husband, half–heartedly offers to retrieve it for her. He was indifferent to the episode.
Hemingway advises us that he went on reading and

Essay about Speech: Spay Your Cat
Speech: Spay Your Cat
1. Did you know that every un–spayed female cat and her offspring might produce up to 420,000
kittens over a seven–year period?
2. Today, you will realize the effect un–spayed cats can have on increasing the number of the stray
feline population.
3. Almost everyone has a stray cat roaming the neighborhood, and should be concerned. Stray cats
can spread diseases, and are a menace to society. In order to keep our neighborhoods clean and safe;
everyone needs to address this issue.
A. I have encountered this problem myself. 1. When I lived in an apartment, I lived next door to a
couple who refused to spay their two female cats. a. Clint and Tracy didn't think their cats would be

I did end up adopting one of the kittens, and gave the other to a friend. I didn't plan on getting
another cat, but I didn't want to see this kitten become sick and homeless.
2. In the November 1998 issue of Cat Fancy Magazine, Marylyn Christopher, a reader who wrote in
to tell her story of when she found 12 abandoned kittens in a nearby park. She states that she tried to
catch all the kittens, but was only able to coax three to come to her, all of which she adopted.
Although, the other 9 have since come to think of the park as home; where they survive off trash and
handouts.
3. Another reader, Candice Temlor also writes into Cat Fancy Magazine, in the, "Letters from
Readers" portion, complaining about wild strays in her neighborhood, and specifically of the 10
kittens that were abandoned in her yard. She cared for the kittens until they were old enough to
survive, and then decided to keep half, and gave the remaining five away to good homes.
C. Statistics show exactly how severe this problem is.
1. According to the National Pet Alliance, 41% of the total cat population is stray.
2. The S.P.C.A. annually reports statistics of animals brought to their agency. Of the animals brought
to the shelter, 64% are stray cats.
D. Many experts agree that spaying cats will directly result in a major reduction of stray and
unwanted cats. I spoke with Lana Faye at the

Word Count 860 So Far

  • 1. Word Count 860 So Far Word count 860 so far My mom sat beside me as I recovered from surgery. I could tell something serious was being conveyed. I watched tears begin to stream down her face as she spoke on the phone. My dad reluctantly informed her of the outcome of Belle 's veterinarian appointment. Belle was introduced to our family in 1994 when a friend of my middle–school aged sister needed someone to rescue an unwanted litter. This was crazy to me because my dad, who had a horrible memory of wild cats attacking him as a boy under his family farmhouse, hated cats. My mom on the other hand, loved cats. I never imagined he would allow my young sister to have this pet. Despite my assumptions, he did. My mom convinced him the circumstances would only be for a few months. Despite my dad 's hope in this temporary adoption,16 years later, we still had Belle! Named after a Disney movie 's princess, our cat, Belle! was far from princess–like. She made Garfield look compassionate. For instance, she would meow as if she wanted you to pet her, but as one talked to her and caressed her back, she 'd pop their hand with her paw. I noticed after we had her for almost a year, she wasn 't fond of me. As I sat talking on the phone one night I noticed her hunched behind the chair, wiggling her back feet quickly as if she was about to pounce her prey. The more I inquired of her disposition, the more I was certain she was about to pounce me. Quickly she came out to attack my leg, walked off to the side, shook ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fairytales : Fairytale, Legend, And Fairytales Stories in the form of folktale, fairytale, legend, and myths draw in the audience by intriguing their creativity and opening the realm of imagination. They do so by using abstract settings, storylines, and characters where there reader is forced to think outside the box of ordinary life and discover a world they may have never knew existed. Many times these fairytales use the gateway of magic to make these ideas more fathomable to the reader and create the illusion that it is all make believe. Of the second, he said, "Even rats wouldn't touch this gluey mess." Of the third, he said, "How light it is, and golden! I must give a dinner party, and share it with my guests" (13). This defies all expectations of a frog being inferior to humans, but in fact this story teaches us to not have preconceived notions. Thirdly, there is a marriage between a human and animal which is abstract from our usual idea of marriage. The Frog Princess features a dating relationship between a human and a frog which is different than what a reader would think is normal. They read this with the hopes of the frog someday turning into a human princess they can relate to more. Lastly, the book ends with this motif of a happily ever after and that desire for the frog to turn into a human princess becomes a reality. They end the story with the princess and prince being happy for the rest of their lives. There is also an element of wealth in the ending because they reside in a palace and this shows us they do not have to worry about money being a problem. The Frog Princess ... • 9. Forensic Science : How Our Cats Companions Can Crack Cases Kevin Ballard–Munn Ms. Wrigley (Enriched) Forensic Science 20 December 2016 Forensic Felines: How Our Cat Companions Can Crack Cases For centuries, forensic science has relied on one thing: evidence. That evidence has come in many different forms over the years; it can be derived from eyewitness testimony, ballistics, fingerprints, and even DNA. Investigators painstakingly search crime scenes for clues to solve cases, making sure to check every possible location for a key bit of trace evidence. It is therefore ironic that with such emphasis on painstakingly capturing every detail of a crime scene, crime scene investigators too often neglect that which is right in front of them. What could possibly be a part of so many households turned murder scenes? How could something be so common, yet so neglected by those in search of evidence? The answer to this question can be found on a sofa, table, or countertop, staring investigators––sometimes literally––in the face. Yes, this source of evidence is a beloved companion of families and crazed widows alike: the cat. Cats, like other pets, are often neglected at crime scenes in order to focus on the more pertinent details of the case. They are sent away to shelters or family members without a second thought; if left at the scene, they are perceived as a nuisance and potential hazard to evidence fidelity. Mr. Fluffernuggets, however, may be hiding a secret behind his unassuming feline facade. Cats can be an absolutely invaluable source ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Phantom Of The Opera On the 2 April, 2016, I went to see the longest–running production in Broadway history, "The Phantom of the Opera" at Majestic Theater on 247 West 44th Street Manhattan, New York. The opening night, premiere of the spectacle was on January 26, 1988. The musical is based on the novel "Le Fantom de L'Opera" by Gaston Leroux, under Harold Prince directory. The organizer of the theater production is Philip J.Smith and Robert E. Wankel is the president. The musical is classified as a horror in genre, and it aroused confusing feelings in me, from the rapture of infantile style and delight to fine tune of plot. It revolves around the man who sheltered outside of the world in the underground cavern who is lonely, romantic man tutors and composes operas for Christine. The rats, one found in an alley and the other in Bigger's apartment, symbolize Bigger. Mrs. Dalton's white cat represents white society, which often takes the form of a singular character. "Parallels are drawn between these animals and the characters they represent at key moments during the novel" (Kinnamon 118). These parallels help the reader identify with Bigger and understand why he acts the way he does. The animal imagery in Native Son explains some of Bigger's behavior and generates sympathy for Bigger and fear of whites. Bigger's first encounter with a rat foreshadows what will happen to him ... "He turned and a hysterical terror seized him, as though he were falling from a great height...It was Mrs. Dalton. He wanted to knock her out of the way and bolt from the room" (Wright 97). Like the rat, Bigger is trapped and in danger, with no possibility for escape. In his last, desperate fight for survival, he suffocates Mary, similar to the rat's wild leap for his pant leg. The second rat enters the novel to remind readers that the desperate situation of the first rat is the same situation Bigger faces now. Bigger fears for his life as he is trapped in the city with no escape after Mary's bones are discovered. His wild movement through the city streets is similar to the first rat running in a circle, desperately searching for a place to hide. "He reeled through the streets, his bloodshot eyes looking for a place to hide. He paused at a corner and saw a big black rat leaping over the snow. It shot past him into a doorway where it slid out of sight through a hole. He looked wistfully at that gaping black hole through which the rat had darted to safety" (Wright 288). The second rat runs across the white snow the way Bigger is running through the white–controlled city, both looking for safety. The wolf (disguised as the grandmother) then says, "It's for eating you better, my dear" (Darnton 10). Then he eats her! How could this awful graphic content get into a children 's story? Darnton's ideas were simple, "History looked 'immobile' at the village level, because seigneurialism and the substance economy kept villagers bent over the soil, and primitive techniques of farming gave them no opportunity to unbend" (Darnton 25). With this, life as a peasant was miserable so miserable that, "In Crulai, Normandy 236 of every 1000 babies died before their first birthday during the seventeenth century" (Darnton 27). Death played a gigantic role in a peasants life so much that it contaminated their stories, as well, gearing the peasants towards survival as their main goal and or being the boss of other peasants. The tale of "Puss 'n Boots" can support that claim, the version most kids know is a classic man's best friend tale about a cat/fox helping the owner revamp his life and eventually become rich once again. Now passed down through peasants the story speaks of the cat as a fairy (La Renarde) that solves riddles and puzzles which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Cat Popularity Throughout The World Cat Popularity Throughout the World Cats are everywhere we go. We see them in the homes of our friends, relatives, and maybe even our own. On the way home from work I see them running across the street in front of the car. On my early morning runs they scurry into the bushes as I approach. They are constantly popping up on our computers or phones, whether in a funny video shared on Facebook or a cute meme a cousin posted on Instagram. In America, cats are a beloved pet, competing only with dogs for the number one spot of most popular pet in America. In several countries I've visited in Europe however, I noticed some different attitudes. In Spain and Croatia, on several occasions I saw massive cat colonies congregating on the beach or in ... The talisman is thought to have first come to being and use in the early Edo (17th–19th) century in Japan (Kollus). In China, there was a cat goddess named Li Shou who was put in charge of running the world, after the gods decided a creature of the Earth should rule the world. However, in short, as cats are known for their love of long naps, the earth began to fall to pieces under the cat's watch, so the gods chose to give cats a different responsibility of keeping earthly time with their eyes and pupils, which could apparently control the sun's movement above the horizon where it would set (Mark). These two stories are great examples of cats in Asian culture/mythology, and a reason why cats are well regarded and loved in countries like China and Japan, with the latter being especially known for its love of cats with things like its Hello Kitty amusement parks and popular cat cafes where cats can roam free and interact with customers. Recent research theories even suggest that cats might have actually had origins in China, instead of spreading over there from Egypt and Greece as scientists once thought. Though not a definitive conclusion, recent archaeological evidence suggests that cats didn't end up in China only 2,000 years ago from Egyptian sources. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Dangerous Life of a Squirrel in Autumn Essay The sky is the color of cold stones as I cautiously make my way down the trunk of dying oak. The few remaining leaves of the tree rustle as a light autumn morning breeze passes through them. One of them is blown free, making a soft snapping sound as it breaks away from its anchored brothers and begins to fall to the ground below. It twists and turns as it goes and I watch it in momentary curiosity. I have seen this often before. It is still mostly green, only slightly browning at the edges. It makes a show of falling, as though it knows it has an audience. It spins and dances, carried across an unseen stage by the breeze. I pause briefly between sprints to listen for sounds of predators, or simply to hear what the birds are singing about today. I twitch my nose and catch the scent of pecans, acorns, and other forms of nut within the area. They are my usual food source and are very scarce now that it is so close to winter. I must act quickly or some rival animal will snatch them away. I take off as fast as light in the direction of a particularly strong scent. My heart pounds in my chest so fast that it's almost not beating at all. I can smell and hear my rivals as they race towards the scent as well. I am quite certain there will be a fight on arrival. I prepare myself to win this race and the fight that may follow. Yet, when I cross the span of the front yard of an old abandoned house I am attacked. I cry out in fear and try to break free as sharp fangs sink into the delicate flesh of my bushy tail. I scratch my paws over the ground, ripping out small bits of dying grass and pebbles. I hear a guttural rumbling and glance back in horror as my eyes meet those of my captor. My captor is a pampered gray house cat with the blue of the summer sky and the mischief of a devil in its piercing gaze. It is well groomed with long fur and a purple band around its neck with a little bell on it. This paper describes Carly's service learning project in which she spent twenty hours volunteering at the Alachua County Humane Society (ACHS). She worked with dogs and cats, caring for them until they were adopted into forever homes. She also formed relationships with fellow volunteers, specifically one from the same Family, Youth, and Community Sciences (FYCS) program at the University of Florida. In this paper, Carly's feelings about the service learning in which she participated will be discussed, as well as how her actions in helping animals find homes benefitted the community. The benefits of her actions are backed up with research done by Dr. James E. Gern and an article published in Parents Magazine. Relationships between what she's learned in her Principles of Family, Youth, and Community Sciences class will be examined, along with her feelings about her experience at the ACHS. Keywords: Alachua County Human Society, community, FYCS Volunteering at the Alachua County Humane Society Carly conducted her service learning research at the Alachua County Humane Society. She chose this setting because animals are an important part of people's lives, and every animal needs to be loved. • 41. Compare Two Poems in Which the Poets Explore Attitudes to... Defying Gravity by Roger McGough and Mort Aux Chats by Peter Porter are two poems that have death as a theme. Although they refer to death in different ways. Mort Aux Chats refers to death to convince you to dislike cats. Whereas Defying Gravity is about a mans "victory" with death. These poems rely on language to emphasise the attitude to death. Defying Gravity is told from the point of view of a dying mans best friend. It uses a lots of metaphors and I think this makes the poem very effective and clever. The first stanza of the poem explains about gravity and its significance to us. 'Gravity is one of the oldest tricks in the book' This explains that it's been around for a long time and everyone knows about it and they will all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way McGough writes this makes it as if he is actually talking to us and it's like reading between the lines. 'Soon now the man I love (not the armful of bones)' This shows how much the illness can affect someone and the way they feel about someone because clearly the speaker is distressed by seeing his friend in such a way that it then leads them on to say ' freeing himself from the tackle' Using terms which are used in rugby really gives that part of the poem impact because it shows that it is more personal towards the friend that he clearly cares about and the physic affects of the illness have left such obvious affects which reminds him so much of what the person has missed out on. 'A box of left over's will be lowered into the space on loan from the clay.' This idea is taken from the bible where humans where created from the earths clay. And now the dead man is being put back. As a dead body in a grave. 'Then, weighed down, the living will walk wearily away.' The last line use alteration and long words make it slower to say and gives it a slow depressive feel which makes you think about it. Mort Aux Chats translates to death to cats. This poem is rhetorical trying to persuade us to dislike cats. Mort Aux Chats is a political poem and it has a persuasive tone. 'There will be no more cats' this makes the reader want to read on as they want to know why there will be no more cats. "Cats spread infection, cats pollute the air, and cats ... Your barn cats are hard at work, as well, hunting and munching on the overabundant rodent population nesting in your hay. In a brief moment of rest, you remove your gloves, wincing as the cold air hits your dry, cracked skin. One of the barn cats also joins you in your reprieve and you reach down to run your hands through her fur. Briefly, you notice a bit of nasal discharge and some scabs on her paws and face, but you chalk it up to the weather and get back to work. A couple of days go by and you begin to notice pus–like sores on your hands. They 're inflamed and red and suddenly you 're reminded of the barn cat you pet a while back. Deciding to give her a more thorough once–over, you return to the barn on your precious day off to hunt her down. It 's easy enough to find her; she 's resting atop a pile of blankets while the other cats are out and about hunting. She appears thinner than you remember her being and she barely even registers your approach, but you immediately notice rodent bites on her face and paws that appear infected. Upon closer inspection, beneath her fur there are multiple crusted wounds, some circular bumps while others appear to be swollen and flat. The skin is also broken in some places, equally as crusty and flaking off in places. You know that these are ulcerated nodules and, regardless of an underlying infection, they need to be treated before they get worse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The simplicity and accuracy of this quote may make a person deeply question how they decide to react to what life gives them. In the movie Harold and Maude, Harold is displayed as an odd boy who has a strange habit of enjoying to portray death, but only to get a reaction from his mother. Harold did not always have this desire to scare his mother, but one day when his mother was told of his "death" he enjoyed the reaction so much it changed how he lived life. I feel as if the classical kind of person is more likely to struggle living an anti–authoritarianism lifestyle due to the fact that for underlying objects to work there must be structure. An example in reference to ZAMM may be the common topic of motorcycles. John is very much pleased with his BMW because he loves the aesthetics. The outer shell, or aesthetic, may be considered an authority. While the narrator of ZAMM may be more intrigued with the underlying functions of the motorcycle, if there is no outer shell to hold and protect it then the motorcycle will likely not be functioning. Similarly, if a classical minded person, like myself, were to attempt to remove authority from my life I may malfunction. Transition: Now that we know what a problem animal overpopulation is, let's talk about how we can help to solve this issue. II. The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered. a. Spay is the term for female animals while neutering is used for male animals. Both are surgical procedures to remove the reproductive organs of the animal. By performing these procedures, our pets cannot contribute to the problem because they cannot reproduce. According to Northwest Spay and Neuter, if every pet was fixed then the overpopulation problem would be fix in less than 10 years. If we put it into these terms is it easier to understand: just one female dog and her puppies can result in 67,000 dogs in six years, and one female cat and her kittens can lead to 370,000 cats being born in seven years. b. There are several benefits to having your own pet spayed or neutered besides helping solve this crisis. The benefits include reducing the risk of some of the most common types of cancers, making it likelier for animals to live a longer and healthier life, and nixing aggression problems. Analysis Of ' Allah Hu Akbar ' David Procter– Formal Writing "Allah Hu Akbar" is portrayed as a war chant and terrorist motto by the media whenever there has been a conflict around the world with Muslims or others with Middle Eastern descent. But it is actually a prayer meaning "God is great." The media is wrongly portraying Muslims as terrorists, Muslims follow the religion of Islam and since the attacks of 9/11 on the twin towers. Muslims, especially in America, are suffering from discrimination from babies being forced off domestic flights to American Muslims who were denied the second amendment of bearing arms. Even famous musicians have been denied entry in the U.S because of their Islamic name, and Muslims not being served un–opened cans of Coca–Cola as "it could be used as a weapon". This prejudice is creating lethal stereotypes in today's society. The media have published articles that portray many Muslims as terrorists. This has made many Americans believe that Muslims all have connections to Al Qaeda and Taliban making everyone fear them in general. This discrimination is even effecting babies. Riyanna Abdullah was an 18 month old child who was flying on a JetBlue flight from Florida back to New Jersey. • 61. Cats: Domestic Cat The cat (or domestic cat, house cat) is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal. It is valued by humans for its companionship and its ability to destroy vermin. A skilled predator, the cat is known to hunt over 1,000 species for food. Intelligent, the cat can be trained to obey simple commands, and has been known to teach itself to manipulate simple mechanisms (see cat intelligence). The trinomial name of the domestic cat is Felis silvestris catus. Its closest pre–domesticated ancestor is believed to be the African wild cat, Felis silvestris lybica.[1] Humans have developed several dozen breeds of cat, in a variety of colours. Ears Sixty–two individual muscles in the ear allow for a manner of directional hearing:[15] the cat can move each ear independently of the other. Because of this mobility, a cat can move its body in one direction and point its ears in another direction. Most cats have straight ears pointing upward. Unlike dogs, flap–eared breeds are extremely rare. (Scottish Folds are one such exceptional genetic mutation.) When angry or frightened, a cat will lay its ears back, to accompany the growling or hissing sounds it makes. Cats will also turn their ears back when they are playing, or occasionally to show interest in a sound coming from behind them. Metabolism Cats commonly sleep curled into a tight ball. Daily durations of sleep vary, usually 12–16 hours, with 13–14 being the average. Some cats can sleep as much as 20 hours in a 24–hour period. The term cat nap refers to the cat's ability to fall asleep (lightly) for a brief period and has entered the English lexicon – someone who nods off for a few minutes is said to be "taking a cat nap". It relates felines to people in the sense of curiosity, and what could be considered actually living life to the fullest. Essentially, this work contradicts the popular phrase, "curiosity killed the cat" by placing it within a broader context. Instead of discouraging curiosity, Reid explains why people should embrace it. In the first stanza, the author argues that the cat may have died from curiosity, but that it may have been a chosen death. "Or else curious to see what death was like, having no cause to go on licking paws, or fathering litter on litter of kittens, predictably." (lines, 2–5) Basically, the author is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one has no desire to look further in life and discover new ideas or uncharted territory, they will eventually lose the voracity for their existence. The author even goes to say that the curious are the only ones with lives worth living and a tale worth telling. The fourth and final stanza includes a metaphor referring to dogs, which one can assume are symbolic of the uncurious people. Reid states that the cats, the curious, are lucky. They are nine–lived and willing to change. Consequently, they must be prepared to suffer consequences which seem worth the escapades and excitement they may encounter. "And what cats have to tell on each return from hell is this: that dying is what the living do, that dying is what the loving do and that dead dogs are those who do not know that dying is what, to live, each has to do." (lines 39–44) That passage from the last stanza is the most significant of the entire poem. Reid infers that life in itself is curiosity. If one truly believes that he or she is living, they are risking consequences. He also conveys love as a risk involving curiosity, but that one has not lived until one experiences such things. The "dead dogs", again, are the uncurious people who simply do not understand life or love. They are the ones who will never experience life as a cat, life as an adventure ... • 80. Jim Davis Research Paper Garfield, is an American comic character created by Jim Davis in 1978. It tells the story of a cat named Garfield, his owner Jon and their dog named Odie. I all started in 1970 when the comic artist Jim Davis decided to take a troll of the comic books in order to introduce a new, interesting and relatable character and he realized that dogs were doing great but there were no cats at that time. Davis figured that as he grew up on a farm with 25 cats, he could come up with a strip based on cats. He then continued to create a strip with a cat as its main character and thus created Garfield. At first, Garfield consisted of four main characters. Davis was inspired from his grandfather for Garfield's name and personality; who Davis described as "a large cantankerous man". Jon Arbuckel was inspired from a 1950's coffee commercial, Odie the dog was based a car dealer commercial Davis wrote and Odie's owner who was created for Jon to have someone to talk to. • 93. Art And The Holocaust In just twelve years, a heinous vision executed nearly six million Jewish people at the hands of Hitler and his followers, making the Holocaust debatably the most tragic and shameful event recorded in Earth's history. During this time, different races, ethnicities, and religious groups were persecuted and annihilated for their beliefs that conflicted with Hitler's persistence to eliminate the "flaws" of humanity. Hitler and his followers had one goal in mind: to cultivate a master race for the next generation. Under his guidance for Germany, countries were destroyed and millions were killed. Pain, death and suffering for millions, put towards an effort that would forever haunt survivors, and leave future generations struggling to grasp at understanding the past. As time has gone by, the number of Holocaust survivors has been decreasing expeditiously and history seems to be slipping away from one's fingertips; however, this specific strand of events and their survivor's legacy is continuing to reside in the current era, especially through art and literature. Novels, poetry, paintings, films, and other forms of art relating to the Holocaust quickly surfaced after the occurrence and still continue today. Artists search for a catharsis from the atrocious genocide that seems to surround them. With this newly spread genre of art, many critics rose up, like Adorno, a German philosopher, to prove that these artistic representations were degrading to the survivors and the actual ... This used to be my initial reaction almost every time ads of animal adoption agencies came on TV. This is also probably the general reaction of most viewers when presented with such sad images. We all prefer to watch those funny videos of dogs standing on two legs or cats wearing silly outfits. And of course that's fine; we all need a little entertainment from time to time. But knowing where these great companions of humans come from or where they may ultimately end up could surprise you. Loving pets of all sizes and shapes are waiting in animal shelters, hoping to find a permanent home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You also get literature on caring for your new pet, plus support and guidance from shelter staff if you have questions. Shelter pets make wonderful companions. Some have never had a home, others were abandoned or surrendered by their previous owners. Some are the victims of divorce, illness, allergies, a new baby, inexperienced owners, a move that didn't include them, and many other reasons. But most shelter pets are loving animals who are grateful to have a second chance at a happy life. They can and do bond with their new owners, and become the most devoted and loving of family pets. You save a life, and do your part in combatting pet overpopulation. A sad fact of life is that there are far too many homeless pets than there are loving homes to care for them. When you adopt from a shelter, you save a life and free up a cage for another needy animal waiting to be adopted. Your money goes towards running the shelter, pet education, and spay/neuter surgery. All of this, and you gain a loving companion too! I rescused my cat Luna two years ago from a man selling kittens on craigslist. When I picked her up I took her to the vet the next day and they told me she was malnourished, infested with fleas and needed multiple shots. The citizen feels that cats should be contained because of the public nuisance some see cats to be. • 113. Dogs Are Dogs And Cats To me, there has always been a big difference between dogs and cats. Some people like dogs more; some people like cats more. To decide which one you like more is always hard. Some of those main points are how they play, how to take care of them, where they go to the bathroom, and how big they get. Dogs have been around for over thousands of years now as humans pets. The word dog still has a much unknown origin, but people believe it came from a word in German named "docga". The word dog means a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, and a barking, howling, or whining voice. They have always been a very good human companion. Cats have also been human's pets for over thousands of years now. The origin of the word cat comes from old English and Middle English as "catte". The word cat means a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws. One of the biggest differences I always notice between dogs and cats is how they go to the bathroom. Cats usually go in a litter box that's kept indoors. The litter box is required to be cleaned at least once a month. It does tend to get very stinky after a while when left in the house. A nice thing about cats is you don't have to be there to let them out for the bathroom. Dogs get put on a lease in most cases to be let outside for the bathroom. If your dog is well trained a lease is not always required for them to be let out. When a dog has to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This poem creates new experiences for his audience and allows them to participate in the poem, from which they may gain a greater awareness and understanding of their world. Stevens utilizes his poem in order to both increase and clarify the audience's range of experience. While interpreting and trying to understand this poem I became extremely aware of the relationship between the two characters: a father and his son. However, like many teenagers, the son disregards the importance of his father's words. The son doesn't physically speak in this poem as his lyrics in the song are his thoughts. The Effects Of Lowering Stress On College Students There isn't a better, more comforting feeling, than coming home after a long, hard day at work or school and being welcomed at the door with a wagging tail, wet kisses, and an excited to see you face from your dog. For many, having any sort of interaction with a pet or animal is the ultimate cure to stress that is caused by work, people, and life. While not every college student is able to have a loving pet in their lives, even a momentary encounter with any animal can lower stress and anxiety levels. Multiple studies have proven that animals are a powerful form of stress relief by not only lowering blood pressure, but also lowering a dangerous stress hormone, cortisol, which is correlated with depression and anxiety. Interactions with animals have also proven to raise oxytocin levels, which are linked to pleasure, relaxation and happiness. Lowering stress and anxiety in college students will help them academically and socially throughout their college lives. College students will experience lower stress levels, a lower level of cortisol, and live a happier stress–free life by interacting with animals or pets throughout their time in college. With more and more college students becoming depressed and anxious, researchers have been working hard to try and improve college student lifestyles. According to Therese Borchard, associate editor of World of Psychology, at least 44 percent of American college students reported feeling symptoms of depression this past year (Borchard). ... Analyzing Cat Stevens Song The song "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out" by Cat Stevens, featured repeatedly in the film and on the soundtrack of Harold and Maude (1971), was an original work created for the film. It best represents the film and the ideas portrayed in it through the film's main characters by relating to them through uplifting lyrics and meanings that can be associated with the pasts and presents of the characters. It describes the way one yearns to live and displays the way the other does. For Dame Marjorie Chardin, Maude, the song outlines her beliefs and shows how she lives her life to the fullest. "You can do what you want, the opportunity's on." She does whatever she wants to do, whenever she feels like doing it. She poses nude, an already discouraged practice for young people, as an older woman, she abducted a tree from public property to replant it in the forest because it was dying, draws happier visages on sour faced statues of saints, she used to liberate canaries from pet shops commenting that "the world so dearly loves a cage," and she even lives in an old train ... • 133. Essay on Cats Do NOT Cause Bad Luck What is superstition? According to The Little Oxford Dictionary, superstition is "belief in the existence or power of the supernatural; irrational fear of the unknown; a religion or practice based on such tendencies; widely held but wrong idea." Let us examine that definition in depth. First, there is "belief in the existence or power of the supernatural". This means that there is believed to be some force that can influence the events on the Earth. Second, there is "irrational fear of the unknown." This has been endemic to the human race since the early days when a cave man did not know if that cave was safe to enter or if he would be attacked by a bear. Third, "a religion or practice based on such tendencies." This is the belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some examples of common, everyday superstition include the belief that the number 13 is unlucky, that walking under a ladder will bring bad luck, and that a black cat crossing your path can affect your luck. Belief that black cats affect your luck goes far back in time. One king of England, Charles I, owned a black cat. His fear of losing it was so great that he had it guarded. The day after it fell ill and died, he was arrested. Black cats were often witches in disguise or witches' familiars. There were also many cat charms relating to ships and the sea. Fishermen's wives would keep a black cat at home to prevent disaster at sea, consequently the cats became very valuable and were often stolen. If a cat ran ahead of a sailor to the pier that would bring good luck, but if the cat crossed his path it means bad luck. For luck, cats were often kept on board ships. If a sailor was approached by the ship's cat it meant good luck, but if the cat only came halfway and went away again it meant bad luck. The worst possible cat–related act, guaranteed to raise a storm and bring bad luck of all sorts, was to throw the cat overboard. Cat superstitions were also common in medicine. Fur and blood drawn from various parts of the cat's anatomy cured everything from shingles to St. Anthony's Fire. All of these superstitions today boil down to "Black cats cause bad luck." A cat crossing your path will adversely affect your luck. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over the past few years, many families have started planting their own gardens in their yard during the spring months. A garden map is a great way to plan out your spring garden, so that it looks just the way you want it to. There are some plants that can not be planted to close to each other. For example cucumbers can easily overtake anything they are planted next too. They can grab onto the plants next to them and also block out sunlight. That is why a map is certainly a good idea. For your lesson plan have each of your children, draw a picture of your yard. If the weather is nice outside, why not take them out in the yard and allow them to draw a sketch first hand. After your children have finished drawing, their picture of the garden, sit down with them and decide where you want the garden to go. If you have more than one child, why not give each of them a small patch of land. Each of your kids can pick where they want their patch of land to go. Have them indicate this on their garden map. They can even set up how and where they want to plant the seeds in the garden. A good way to incorporate math into this lesson is measure the distance between each plant. Look up what the right distance between each plant should be. Most of this information can easily be found online. While Maude is also interested in death; she enjoys living as well and has lived her life to the fullest. Both are brought together while attending funerals simply because they enjoy them. Maude shares many of these ideas and beliefs with Harold, teaching him to dance, play the banjo, and just enjoy being alive, not dead. Harold was unaware that when he met Maude, she had planed all along to end her life at the age of eighty. She says several times throughout the movie, "Did you know I'll be eighty on Saturday". Her decision to commit suicide shows that Maude feels she has done her part in helping Harold be a happier person and has succeeded in teaching him how to love and enjoy life, which are qualities he did not possess prior to their meeting. She makes him understand this when, after he tells her he loves her, she says, "Go and love some more." After Maude's death, Harold drives his car over a cliff in another attempt to make people believe he is dead again. Harold walks away playing his banjo and dancing, things that Maude had taught him. By driving his car over the cliff to make people think he is dead again makes Harold happy since he enjoys being dead, but the banjo and Harold's dancing are symbols of the effects of his relationship with Maude. These signify that Harold has grown due to his relationship with Maude and will use the advice that Maude has given him in order to live a more fulfilling and enjoyable life. Because this film is so influenced by it's time, it seems appropriate that the director used the music of Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens music defined a generation, and Harold and Maude are no exception. You along with the Austin County Grand Jury need to enforce the rights of animals faced with cases of cruelty and slaughter and punish those who disrespect the creature's right to live. Earlier this year, a woman named Kristen Lindsey participated in a despicable act of animal cruelty when she took the life of an innocent cat yet faced no charges. Her inappropriate displays of her "kill" aroused a huge controversy over the issues of hunting and the safety of our pets. On April 17th, 2015, Lindsey, a woman living in the small east–central Texas city of Brenham, posted a graphic photo on Facebook of her latest kill. That kill was no deer or bird, but a cat. She shot the feline with a bow and arrow that pierced right through the cat's head and it is assumed that the cat died instantly.
