Classroom Oral Interaction
Classroom oral interaction plays an important role in language classroom.
Besides, it gives more dynamics to the teaching–learning process, especially when students actively
participate. This verbal interaction is realized in oral activities, like conversations. It is "one of the
primary means by which learning is accomplished in classroom" (Hall, 2003). It shows that the
classroom oral interaction is a reflection of the learning process.
Moreover, language classroom interaction provides the facility for the students to use the target
language "they possess in real life exchange" (Rivers cited in Tuan and Nhu, 2010). Hence, through
the oral interaction the teacher can provide opportunities to the students to use the target language
orally in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study revealed that the classroom oral interaction lacked of students participation in giving
initiation and follow–up. It can be seen from the following chart.

Chart 1.1.IRF Pattern (Juniarti, 2010)
To conclude, the previous study described above reveals that the participations of the students are
dominated by their role as the responder.
Meanwhile, they missed their chance to participate in giving initiation and followup. Also, the fact
that teachers are still dominant in interactions indicates that learning process seems to be teacher–
centered.
Likewise, during the PPL program (2011), the same situation was found in some English classes in
SMP 47 where students participated only to respond to the teacher's initiations. The question is "are
the students' interpersonal functions helpful as means to improve their language?" If no, the oral
interaction in the classroom will be useless since it doesn't support the participants, the teacher and
students, to reach the goal of the learning process. This is another reason why the students'
participation in classroom oral interaction is important to

Why is it important that the CLS Program invest specifically in you with this award?

Analysis Of The C & C 's Management
Executive Summary:
Calyx and Corolla (C&C) is a company started by Ruth M. Owades in 1988, which delivers fresh
flowers to the customers using courier service Federal Express. Customers can choose from a wide
range of fresh flowers and bouquets and make an order via phone or fax and get it delivered to their
houses. During 1990, it had consummated over 150k transactions, yielding revenues in excess of
$10 million. C&C was exceptionally promising yet it's still a partly proven, start–up company. The
main challenges that C&C is facing are competition with traditional flower selling outlets, less
customer base that order flowers via mail. The company should determine whether it should change
its current strategy and position itself as a mail operation to compete with the traditional outlets,
such as florists and FTDs. Specifically, the C&C's management is planning a major advertising
campaign to go head to head against FTDs. Its problem is that it is not clear who their customers
should be? As a small company, it needs to figure out the best way to use its limited marketing
resources to reach potential customers.
Goal and goal defense:
C&C is a small player in a large market that has remarkable growth potential. As a company, C&C
has enjoyed substantial success since its beginnings in 1988. The goal of the company is to solidify
its presence in the market by evolving its current business model and developing new business
approaches which will ensure long–term financial

Strategic Marketing Plan for Reading Cinemas Essay
October 4
2013
Executive summary
The selected company, Reading Cinemas, is looking to ultimately strengthen its competitive position
within the market place over the course of the next three to five years.
A market analysis was first taken out on Reading Courtenay; one cinema under the Reading brand
name situated in Wellington. From this analysis, it became apparent that the Internet was one of the
company's largest competitors. Upon further research, the problem revealed to be at such a large
level, one single cinema would not be able to control it alone. The view for the marketing plan had
to be changed and instead would now support a company–wide view.
After the view change, a concise market analysis was taken out on ... Show more content on

Worldwide, Reading International resides nearly 4 million square feet of land and buildings
(Reading International, 2013).
Looking at where the company is in the market place, the cinema exhibition business segment has
reached maturity (Reading International, 2013). Reading International will be looking towards
improving their current cinemas to achieve more growth as well as developing niche–type of
cinemas in selected markets and also procuring additional properties that contain existing cinemas.
The objective behind these strategies is to attract more customers. Currently, Reading International
targets several key groups of consumers by running various promotions across each country; school
children are targeted with the 'Early Bird' promotion, students are targeted with 'Terrific Tuesday',
working professionals with 'Friday Flicks', couples with 'Steer & Beer' restaurant 'combo' deals,
families with 'Spit the Dummy', elderly with senior discounts, and general movie enthusiasts can
sign up for the 'Reel Club'. It appears that these consumers have been segmented on the basis of
demographic grouping. What Reading International needs to be aware of however, is that there is a
whole new generation of consumers that will have an effect upon how Reding International's
customers should be grouped over the next couple of years. This generation is known as the Net–

quantitative effect of each of these factors?
– In order to find out the factors that caused the less actual quarterly income, we did analysis on

– Among the factors pointed out in Question 1., Oval sales price and quantity sold variance is the

on the loss during the strike week. She estimated the loss to be 5% in unit sales (about 400 baskets)

decrease was due to the strike, but we think the percentage decrease in sales due

Using Language Learners Develop Cultural And Linguistic...
TLE is a prevailing language acquisition method that allows language learners to develop cultural
and linguistic competencies by sharing their mother tongue online, through e–mail, phone and other
media (e Tandem, also called Distance Tandem) or in person, which is called (face–to–face Tandem)
with fluent, and preferably, native speakers of the target language (Bower and Kawaguchi, 2011). In
other words, it is a language–based interaction betweentwo language learners who speak different
languages and who aim to learn each other's mother tongue as a target language (Cziko, 2004).
According to Calvert (1999), it is a method of language learning by which two individuals with
different mother languages work in collaboration, in pairs with the intention of: helping one another
progress in their language learning to improve their language skills; learning more about one
another's culture and character and finally exchanging knowledge. This could assist pupils in
becoming motivated, more confident in the use of the target language and they can develop
pronunciation to progress to near–native competency.
TLE allows paired language learners to exchange their cultural and linguistic knowledge through a
series of self–directed and agreed sessions, in which both correspondents have something to learn
and offer (Little &Brammerts, 1996). It enables pupils to use Internet–based web–conferencing,
Skype and video chat applications to connect with native speakers studying

Abstract:
In a global economy, mining the opinion relations between opinion targets and opinion words was
the key to collective extraction. To this end, the most adopted techniques have been nearest–
neighbor rules and syntactic patterns. To improve the performance of these methods, we can
specially design exquisite, high–precision patterns. However, with an increase in corpus size, this
strategy is likely to miss more items and has lower recall. In this paper proposes a novel approach
based on the partially–supervised alignment model, which regards identifying opinion relations as
an alignment process. Compared to the traditional unsupervised alignment model, the proposed
model obtains better precision because of the usage of partial supervision. Compared to syntax–
based methods, our word alignment model effectively alleviates the negative effects of parsing
errors when dealing with informal online texts. The objective is to propose a method based on a
monolingual Word alignment model (WAM). An opinion target can find its corresponding modifier
through word alignment. In addition, the WAM can integrate

Evaluating Ethos Through Technology Essay
Evaluating Ethos through Technology
Logical and emotional appeals are two elements that Aristotle believed to be important in
persuading an audience. Ethos also known as credibility is another important element in the attempt
to persuade an audience. If the speaker is able to communicate the culture, language, and
information to his or her audience, the audience will be more likely to perceive the speaker's
character, goodwill, and intelligence. But, these attributes can only be evaluated if the speaker
personally delivers the messages and provides the proper researched information (Rottenberg
&Winchell, 2012, p. 4) In fact, in the 1950's, individuals would use dictionaries, encyclopedias, and
books to research information. The information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, pointing and making fists can denote negative feelings toward the communicator.
However, if the speaker shows the palm of his or her hands it can denote trust and put the audience
at ease (Thompson, 2012). But without hand gestures and the actual presence of the speaker, the
audience will have a difficult time evaluating the speaker's credibility.
In ancient Greece, persuading an audience was easily done because most of the people shared the
same world view. Moreover, the government had very strong regulations over the city. All speeches
and stories were dictated and regulated by the government (Rottenberg & Winchell, 2012, p. 7). So
most of people were able evaluate the information, understand its contents, and gain trustworthiness
from the speaker. Today, people can communicate to people throughout the world and they may
share many diverse views. For instance, an Arab from Iraq will most likely believe in the Quran
whereas a person from China will most likely be Buddhist. These distinct cultures are important for
the speaker to know in order for him or her to target the audience. If a writer does not include the
correct vocabulary and information according to the audience's culture and age, the audience will
not connect to the speaker. Without those specifications, it becomes very difficult for the audience to
connect to a literary work that is unknown

A Research Report On Rural Surveillance
Rural surveillance, although can be done in almost any settings, is usually conducted in rural,
farming, countryside or isolated areas where the use of an observation van is impractical. (Jenkins,
2010, p.205). The allegations and charges that were cited in both the Ruby Ridge and Waco
incidents were severe enough to warrant such surveillance and information gathering. The
allegations and charges in the case of the Waco siege and stand–off include firing of automatic
weapons from their compound, modifying legally purchased guns into illegal weapons, stock piling
illegal weapons, child abuse, advocating polygamy, fathering many children through a harem run by
the leader of the group. The location of the compound was in a rural area and for ... Show more

The government also had an informant infiltrate the target but unknown to him, his cover had
already been blown. The target must have fed him with wrong and misleading information as was
evidenced in his reply about what the target group were doing. He replied that they were praying
when in actuality they were arming themselves for the siege from the government.
If the government had taken the time to set up an OP, taking note to use all rural OP precautions,
they would have been able to overtime get in close, set up both surface and sub–surface OPs and
gather evidence or information about the illegal weapons production activities, observe automatic
gun fire activities, confirm daily routine of key target group members. The surveillance could have
produced information on child abuse issues as well as polygamous activities. Intelligence from the
surveillance could have been used to better coordinate efforts of all agencies involved with the
siege. An even better alternative would have been to arrest the main target when he was out of his
comfort zone as he often did by mingling with locals during gun shows.
Lack of coordination even among one government agency with some leaning towards aggression
while others opted for negotiations shows the level of unpreparedness to move forward with the
mission. The government knew that they had been compromised but instead of adopting less risky
options, they decided to move in with little or incorrect intelligence about the

The Distopian Novel Divergent, by Veronica Roth Essay
How is Tris Divergent?
Have you ever wondered how life would be like if society was divided into five factions, each
dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue ? What if you were different and did not belong in
any of the given factions? Then you are a lot like Tris. Tris Prior is the main character in the
dystopian novel Divergent, by Veronica Roth. She lives in a world where she must hide her true
uniqueness as a Divergent individual, otherwise she puts her life at risk. Tris's aptitude test result
was inconclusive, she has the ability to manipulate simulations and throughout the book she shows
characteristics from different factions which concludes that she is Divergent. Divergence is to be

Her ability to manipulate simulations came in handy when Jeanine created a plot against the
Abnegation and used the Dauntless as her soldiers. The Dauntless initiates were all asleep and
unaware of what they were doing because it was all under a simulation... except Tris "I must be
awake because I am Divergent." (Roth pg. 419). Instead of showing characteristics from just her
new faction (Dauntless) or her old faction (Abnegation), Tris tends to show characteristics from
other factions too such as Erudite. Her response to the dog in her aptitude test was considered
intelligent and courageous because of the fact that she did not run in fear of getting attacked.
Instead, she leaned down and was nice to the dog. In the Dauntless manifesto it states; "We believe
in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another" and that is
exactly what Tris did in two situations throughout the book. (Roth pg. 47) The Abnegation inside her
shined through when she chose to jump on the visious dog to save the inoccent little girl who's
intention was only to pet the dog. The second situation was when she stood up for Al and took his
place in front of the target while Four threw knives. She did this because she believed that anyone
can stand in front of a target and that it does not prove anything. After all, she did reveal this

Advertising : Advertising And The Consequences Of Advertising
Due to the growing improvements of technology over the past few years, advertising has become
part of our daily lives. The increase of media has caused rising competition between companies to
grab the attention of potential customers. However, how companies sell their items or ideas has
affected people in different ways. Advertising can cause the beginning or end of a company, make
people rethink what is a necessity or social norm, make others realize their wrong doings, causes
companies to target specific race, sex, and religion, and forces people to make a moral decision on
what they are buying.
When a company starts out, their main goal is to succeed and surpass any other companies similar to
them, so advertising becomes an option. However, if they fail to grab the attention of any potential
customer, it can cause them to shut down. Yet, many companies will try to succeed even if their
product is unhealthy, for example, cigarettes and how "advertising continued to increase the size of
the market, despite an expanding awareness of health risks..."(Shaw). Even though the risks have
clearly been shown, advertising made this industry huge. People are shown how unhealthy and
dangerous this product is, but companies make it seem like it's a good item by not mentioning the
health issues, and its appeals to the consumer. However, stores are also shut down because of
advertising and competition, for example, Sports Authority. I remember always seeing this store
when I would go shopping with my mom, until one day we saw the sign that showed the whole store
was on sale because they were closing. I did not think that was possible, but then I realized, it's the
Internet's fault. I have seen countless advertisements on the computer, or phone of beneficial
exercises or pills and cheap equipment, but I cannot recall seeing one of Sports Authority.
Advertisement on the Internet and the increase of online shopping caused this store to close despite
the increase in health awareness. It shows how powerful the Internet and advertising is for a
company, and if they can not convince any customers, their company will not succeed as well as
others. Although people watch television and attempt to ignore commercials, it is nearly

Origin Of Subliminal Advertising
Origin and Development of Subliminal Advertising
The sublingual advertising is actually traced to the year 1957 when the words "eat popcorn" and
"Drink Coca–Cola" into a movie. This was introduced by James Vicary in what was meant to be just
a trial and error thing to see if the subliminal mind could actually be able to recognize the words. It
is actually stated that the words appeared a single frame and it was long enough for the
subconscious to pick up but at the same time, it was too short for the viewer to be aware of it. It was
later stated that the subliminal ads actually increased Coke sales by about by about 57.8 percent
(Samuel pg., 104). This has certainly had a huge impact on the manner in which some of the people
craft some of the decisions with the regards to advertising. It was later discovered that Vicary's
experiments were actually a hoax hence no one should actually follow it. It was later discovered that
even though this manner of ads has impacted it is clear that its effects certainly small. After being
one of the most talked about things, it has been evident that most of the people have actually been
subjected to what is termed as the new range of the adverts when the people are actually where that
it has no much impact. There has been a huge debate on whether this advertising approach is cost–
effective with its relation to the return on investment ply (Samuel pg., 109). Despite this, it has been
clear that there are various aspects of subliminal

The Vulnerabilities And Cyber Kill Chain
A. ICS Vulnerabilities and Cyber Kill Chain
1. Reconnaissance – Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active
reconnaissance techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target
in the scenario.
Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets.
(1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well–organized cyber–attack, and is also one of
the most time–consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the
target's weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in:
firewall ports that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should
be obtained during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security
policies, and human information.
"Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted
system to gather information about vulnerabilities." (2) This type of information gathering involves
doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of
this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating
systems, firewalls, password requirements and change frequency.
Passive reconnaissance is focused more around public information and not engaging with the
targeted systems. "Typical passive reconnaissance can include

Still, to cater for the new foreign customers and buyers, adding a currency converter in real time
could help speed up the process of buying or placing an order. Adding a section for international
buyers to place reviews as they become available on the website could prove to provide comfort and
trust to the future buyers looking to buy from the site. This also includes an inquiry section for
potential buyers to ask questions regarding any issue arisen. Due to different taxation prices in
different countries, it is important to include sample taxes and duties for the target countries and also
add text the customer's responsibility to pay them all. Shipping options should be included also to fit
accordingly to different buyers across the world and adding cheaper shipping alternatives could
prove to earn more trust from customers. Providing a clearly written returns policy is also key to
preventing unnecessary confrontations and misunderstanding with the customer.

to best utilize the week available at hand in gaining additional information. In doing so, she can first
of all begin with interviewing Devon but not to gain proprietary information about the target
company but utilize him as a professional consultant who could assist them in researching upon the
latest manufacturing technologies used in computer chips manufacturing and the associated
operating costs. Devon had recently helped a European company in setting up a manufacturing plant
and seemed extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the semiconductor industry. The
discussion can be focused to revolve around the key trends and technologies affecting the
semiconductor industry. Interviewing Devon with direct questions to seek proprietary information
about the target company would compromise McCaskey's business values and also possibly tarnish
her name in the consulting industry. Devon had been extremely supportive and informative in the
first meeting but as a good business professional without giving away any proprietary information
about any company and hence could have taken legal action against IAD once he realized the
intentions of McCaskey. Also, there was no guarantee that

the main form of return but you will see a bit of capital gain.
 How risky is the investment?
HLG is relatively stable with slight growth, the biggest drop in value the share took was at the
beginning of 2014 and this was due to a reduced profit in the first half of the year. HLG are unlikely
to see the same drop in share value again as they have taken steps to insure this doesn't happen
again. HLG is also insured with "reputable insurers for most types of
Insurable risk." this mean that if HLG have lose stoke, shop etc. they are covered. For example if
HLG have to close a store (like they did when Christchurch earthquakes happened) they will be
covered. There would be a relative low risk of HLG taking a drop in share price like they did at the
beginning of 2014 and it would be expected to remain relatively stable.

Roaring Fork Beer Essay
To start, we must understand that the approach to the brand is different for non–users and ex–users.
Non–users have possibly never tried our product, whereas ex–users have but have rejected it.
Building awareness of our product to non–users may be necessary. Conversely, ex–users are all
aware of our product but do not have an affinity for Roaring Fork Beer. Furthermore, we must
identify whether the reason our product is rejected is sensory or perceptual. The case, there is a great
deal of supportive evidence that leads us to believe the insight is sensory. Describing the taste as
"chemically, gassy, bad and flat" are descriptive and tangible. Since our targets dislike the taste, we

The addition of the son can help us to target nonusers that are active but vulnerable to options at the
point of entry. It also creates a link between the 21 and 50 year old, effectively creating a bond and
breaking down a potential barrier between our younger and older target. If successful, we may be
able to overcome the popularity of Budweiser and Miller brands that have eroded our market share.
This emotional connection can create desire to purchase RFB to enjoy in homes as well. While
home sales have been most eroded by our competition, it would be dangerous to try and create a
direct link to in–home consumption, particularly if nonusers currently rejecting it. Focusing on our
positive attributes allows us to connect with our targets.
We must verify whether this focused strategy will highlight shared values of the middle–aged, blue–
collar persona and the younger, point of entry target without alienating our current consumers. Since
there is a dominant social element to our father–son scenario, we can conduct primary, qualitative
research in the form of focus groups to verify that men and their sons can enjoy our product in the
pub setting, and can develop an emotional bond amongst one another to Roaring Fork Beer. Our two
strategies focus on Psychographic, Geographic and Demographic segmentation. Based on the
association to blue–collar (psychographic), middle–aged males (demographic) in the Colorado area

The Debate Over Target Language
The debate over target language (TL) really became apparent in schools with the introduction of
GCSE's in 1988, which separated the study of modern foreign languages (MFL) into four skill areas,
(speaking, listening, writing and reading) with a key emphasis on practical communication
(Meiring, Norman, 2002). The latest subject specific Ofsted report for MFL highlights the
ineffective use of TL in the classroom as a key feature in weak teaching. The report indicates that
only using the TL for 'organisational matters and for praise' and resorting to 'immediate English
translations', and not providing the opportunity for 'spontaneous use' of the TL is judged to be
graded as requires improvement. The use of TL in the classroom is not ... Show more content on

In addition, revised later versions promote maximum use of the TL as a 'natural means of
communication'. Therefore, with the importance of the national curriculum, OFSTED and GCSE
examinations, now more than ever the pressure is on for MFL teachers to promote the use of the TL
within the classroom. However, there is a lot of dispute about the use of target language (TL) in the
MFL classroom and key questions such as when and how often should we use the TL?' as well as
when should we use the mother tongue?' have arisen. On one side, many argue in favour of the TL
and feel that the national curriculum requirement is best met if classes are taught as often and as
possible, using the target language as 'a real means of communication' (Jones, Halliwell, Holmes,
2002) and 'using it not only as a 'target' to be learnt but for other purposes, students are more likely
to perceive it as a useful medium for communication (Littlewood, Yu) and develop more motivation
to learn it (Chambers, 2013)'. In addition, using TL in the classroom provides significant learning
opportunities, especially when there are few opportunities to use the TL outside of lesson (Yoshida).
This view is reinforced by Turnbull (2001) who states that 'the teacher is most often the sole
linguistic model for the students and therefore their main source of TL input' further emphasising the
importance of communication in the TL in the classroom, especially when is not uncommon for

Taking a Look at RiboTALE Networks
RiboTALE networks studied were comprised of two modules and each module was based on a
separate plasmid. One of the modules, repressor module, expresses fusion of riboswitch (RS) from
an inducible PBAD promoter, second module, target module, contains a TALE binding site (TBS)
downstream of a regulated or constitutively expressed promoter. Ribosome binding site (RBS) and
gfp are present downstream to TBS (Fig. 1). gfp was used as proxy to quantitate the promoter
expression. Repressor modules were based on kanamycin resistance medium copy number BioBrick
plasmid, pSB3K3 (Shetty et al, 2008). Four different types of repressor modules, PR1T1, PR1T8,
PR2T1, and PR2T8, were constructed combinatorially by implementing two types of riboswitches
and two types of TALEs (supplementary table 1). Used riboswitches, Riboswitch–1 and 2, were
theophylline inducible (Lynch & Gallivan, 2009; Topp et al, 2010). TALES with either low
dissociation constant (Kd = 1.3±0.3, T8) or with high dissociation constant (Kd= 240±40, T1) were
selected (Meckler et al, 2013). Each of the TALEs recognizes a specific 19 bp target DNA
sequence. Two families of target modules were constructed. One of the modules was based on
regulated tetracycline promoter, PTet, and other was based on a family of constitutive promoter,
PConst, generating different level of outputs. Target modules contain two types of TALE binding
site, TBS1 or TBS8. TALE1 binds with TBS1 and TALE8 binds with TBS8 (Fig.1). All

The data set our group chose to analyze looks at alcohol consumption for students in Portugal given
a set of demographic, familial, academic and social characteristics. With this data set in particular, it
is important to note that in Portugal, the legal drinking age is sixteen years old and most of the
participants in the data set are of legal drinking age. One–hundred ninety–five participants out of
one–thousand forty–four total participants, or 18.68%, are underage. The data set was extremely
clean, as there were no missing values in the data set. Examples of the variables provided were: sex,
age, address (urban v. rural), parental status (together v. apart), mother's education, father's
education, guardianship, travel time to school, study time, number of classes failed, school support,
extracurricular support, etc. Of all the provided variables, the three variables that our group chose to
remove from our data set were school, reason and weekend alcohol consumption. The variable
school only told the reader, whether the student attended Gabriel Pereira or Mousinho da Silveira.
As a group, we justify removing this variable in order to make our findings more applicable to the
general population, and not just those students who attended either of the two schools. The other
variable we removed was reason. This variable represents the reason that the student attended the
school that he or she did, whether it be reputation or the

Habits of Ultra Successful People
To be successful on a personal and professional level, it is necessary to build personal independence.
This goal, in the chaotic everyday life, we can get if we change ourselves. Here are some
suggestions that can help.
In recent decades, the world has changed dramatically. The life of modern people has become
uncertain, fast and unsafe. Everyday life is becoming more and more complex, stressful and
demanding.
In response to current events are often noticeable different dysfunctional extremes: we see
individuals who are working hard until the moment when the health or families begin to be pulled
down, while on the other hand, a large number of people is giving up and withdraws, playing the
role of the victim, "Just if... the boss is different... I wish I was not born so poor... to live in another
country... that partner has more understanding for me... ". We may be able to blame everything and
everyone for our problems and that might bring us temporary relief, but that will also bind us tightly
to our own problems.

As a private company, the contracting agency may not hold the same importance on security

Why Do People Suffer Cost For Performance Faster And More...
Taking on many different task and multitask is not something many are gifted at. Sometimes doing
one task at a time becomes more beneficial then doing two or more at a time. In this research
Brooklyn College students decided to test if performance faster and more accurate for task repeat

After trials of task multitasking with manipulations like task sequence and cue target delays it was

Task– switching– Task sequence effect of reaction time and error rate Taking on many tasks at the

Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to

conducted a study called "Task Switching" and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us
time because the brain required "loading time", which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading
time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn't completed it
becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. This causes us to take up
time in between task switching because our brain tries to adjust to the task and

Outline Of Recommendation For Change
3.1 Overview of Recommendation for Change As mentioned throughout the previous section, Target
has a very comprehensive CSR program that covers most areas under this field. Because of this,
there is little for the company to do in regards to starting any new divisions within their CSR efforts;
therefore, I believe it would be most beneficial to fine–tune some of its programs to align with the
company's customer base more closely. Additionally, I believe some of Target's current CSR efforts
are rather broad and the company could benefit by really specializing within some of the areas and
establishing goals moving forward. Finally, although Target seems to emphasize its dedication to
supporting the community and collaborating with other organization, there seems to be a disconnect
between this and some of the company's actions. 3.2 Aligning Company's CSR Efforts with
Customer Base Target recently released its third quarter financial statements for 2016, where the
company recorded a 11% increase in EPS over last year. CEO Brian Cornell credited much of this
growth to its strong back–to–school shopping sales. He went on to say that Target has invested much
effort in differentiating themselves from other competitors like Walmart by offering a more family–
focused selection, particularly with children's apparel and educational toys. While it seems that this
strategy is currently paying off for Target from its recent financial results, I believe Target could

Best Practices Inquiry
The "best practices" inquiry involves the research part of the social work field in order to better
understand and serve clients. In order to provide the best care to our clients, one must fully indulge
themselves into researching what works best and what does not appear to be as successful. Best
practices inquiries, according to Petr and Walter (2005), is the process by which an investigator
ascertains he current state–of–the–art approaches, models, and interventions for a given problem and
target population.
They believe that best practices allow social workers to draw into their professional decision–
making. It also involves an appraisal of not only the quality of available research, but also the values
that guide the research, policies, and practices within the social work field (Petr & Walter, 2005).
Biopsychosocial Assessment The biopsychosocial assessment is essential in treating a client using
the systems theory approach and is used to determine the target population in order to conduct a best

Community Site Analysis
a) Describe the site(s) where you completed your community service. What is the mission of the
group/organization/project?
The first site where I completed community service was at Project Just Because. Project just because
is a local relief center for my hometown community, Hopkinton. They contain many projects that
are dedicated to helping as many men, women and children as possible, while providing dignity and
love from the heart in a caring environment. It is their goal to help families by being a resource for
items that families need, while creating an element of hope for a brighter tomorrow. Additionally,
they strive to educate families that want to help people but don't know how.
The second site where I completed community service was at the Isenberg Open House. The Open
House was for admitted students and helped showcase all that Isenberg has to offer. This includes
information regarding any, student clubs, Centers, and Departments. Additionally, this event is held

individuals because I am not longer an admitted student, as I currently attend UMass. Having these
similarities and differences allowed me to make helpful suggestions and provide crucial advice and
recommendations to the admitted students and their families.
d) Why did the group/organization/project need you to volunteer? Were they short on staff? If so,

Classroom Oral Interaction

  • 1. Classroom Oral Interaction Classroom oral interaction plays an important role in language classroom. Besides, it gives more dynamics to the teaching–learning process, especially when students actively participate. This verbal interaction is realized in oral activities, like conversations. It is "one of the primary means by which learning is accomplished in classroom" (Hall, 2003). It shows that the classroom oral interaction is a reflection of the learning process. Moreover, language classroom interaction provides the facility for the students to use the target language "they possess in real life exchange" (Rivers cited in Tuan and Nhu, 2010). Hence, through the oral interaction the teacher can provide opportunities to the students to use the target language orally in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study revealed that the classroom oral interaction lacked of students participation in giving initiation and follow–up. It can be seen from the following chart. 3 Chart 1.1.IRF Pattern (Juniarti, 2010) To conclude, the previous study described above reveals that the participations of the students are dominated by their role as the responder. Meanwhile, they missed their chance to participate in giving initiation and followup. Also, the fact that teachers are still dominant in interactions indicates that learning process seems to be teacher– centered. Likewise, during the PPL program (2011), the same situation was found in some English classes in SMP 47 where students participated only to respond to the teacher's initiations. The question is "are the students' interpersonal functions helpful as means to improve their language?" If no, the oral interaction in the classroom will be useless since it doesn't support the participants, the teacher and students, to reach the goal of the learning process. This is another reason why the students' participation in classroom oral interaction is important to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of The C & C 's Management Executive Summary: Calyx and Corolla (C&C) is a company started by Ruth M. Owades in 1988, which delivers fresh flowers to the customers using courier service Federal Express. Customers can choose from a wide range of fresh flowers and bouquets and make an order via phone or fax and get it delivered to their houses. During 1990, it had consummated over 150k transactions, yielding revenues in excess of $10 million. C&C was exceptionally promising yet it's still a partly proven, start–up company. The main challenges that C&C is facing are competition with traditional flower selling outlets, less customer base that order flowers via mail. The company should determine whether it should change its current strategy and position itself as a mail operation to compete with the traditional outlets, such as florists and FTDs. Specifically, the C&C's management is planning a major advertising campaign to go head to head against FTDs. Its problem is that it is not clear who their customers should be? As a small company, it needs to figure out the best way to use its limited marketing resources to reach potential customers. Goal and goal defense: C&C is a small player in a large market that has remarkable growth potential. As a company, C&C has enjoyed substantial success since its beginnings in 1988. The goal of the company is to solidify its presence in the market by evolving its current business model and developing new business approaches which will ensure long–term financial ... Strategic Marketing Plan for Reading Cinemas Essay October 4 2013 Executive summary The selected company, Reading Cinemas, is looking to ultimately strengthen its competitive position within the market place over the course of the next three to five years. A market analysis was first taken out on Reading Courtenay; one cinema under the Reading brand name situated in Wellington. From this analysis, it became apparent that the Internet was one of the company's largest competitors. Upon further research, the problem revealed to be at such a large level, one single cinema would not be able to control it alone. The view for the marketing plan had to be changed and instead would now support a company–wide view. After the view change, a concise market analysis was taken out on ... Looking at where the company is in the market place, the cinema exhibition business segment has reached maturity (Reading International, 2013). Reading International will be looking towards improving their current cinemas to achieve more growth as well as developing niche–type of cinemas in selected markets and also procuring additional properties that contain existing cinemas. The objective behind these strategies is to attract more customers. Currently, Reading International targets several key groups of consumers by running various promotions across each country; school children are targeted with the 'Early Bird' promotion, students are targeted with 'Terrific Tuesday', working professionals with 'Friday Flicks', couples with 'Steer & Beer' restaurant 'combo' deals, families with 'Spit the Dummy', elderly with senior discounts, and general movie enthusiasts can sign up for the 'Reel Club'. It appears that these consumers have been segmented on the basis of demographic grouping. What Reading International needs to be aware of however, is that there is a whole new generation of consumers that will have an effect upon how Reding International's customers should be grouped over the next couple of years. • 12. Using Language Learners Develop Cultural And Linguistic... TLE is a prevailing language acquisition method that allows language learners to develop cultural and linguistic competencies by sharing their mother tongue online, through e–mail, phone and other media (e Tandem, also called Distance Tandem) or in person, which is called (face–to–face Tandem) with fluent, and preferably, native speakers of the target language (Bower and Kawaguchi, 2011). In other words, it is a language–based interaction betweentwo language learners who speak different languages and who aim to learn each other's mother tongue as a target language (Cziko, 2004). According to Calvert (1999), it is a method of language learning by which two individuals with different mother languages work in collaboration, in pairs with the intention of: helping one another progress in their language learning to improve their language skills; learning more about one another's culture and character and finally exchanging knowledge. This could assist pupils in becoming motivated, more confident in the use of the target language and they can develop pronunciation to progress to near–native competency. TLE allows paired language learners to exchange their cultural and linguistic knowledge through a series of self–directed and agreed sessions, in which both correspondents have something to learn and offer (Little &Brammerts, 1996). It enables pupils to use Internet–based web–conferencing, Skype and video chat applications to connect with native speakers studying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Professor in CSE, GNITC, Hyderabad, A.P., India, captureratan@gmail.com K.Vikram, Asst. Professor in CSE, GNITC, Hyderabad, A.P., India, vikramkalvala84@gmail.com Patil ManikRao, Asst. Professor in CSE, GNITC, Hyderabad, A.P., India, manikvpatil@gmail.com Abstract: In a global economy, mining the opinion relations between opinion targets and opinion words was the key to collective extraction. To this end, the most adopted techniques have been nearest– neighbor rules and syntactic patterns. To improve the performance of these methods, we can specially design exquisite, high–precision patterns. However, with an increase in corpus size, this strategy is likely to miss more items and has lower recall. In this paper proposes a novel approach based on the partially–supervised alignment model, which regards identifying opinion relations as an alignment process. Compared to the traditional unsupervised alignment model, the proposed model obtains better precision because of the usage of partial supervision. Compared to syntax– based methods, our word alignment model effectively alleviates the negative effects of parsing errors when dealing with informal online texts. The objective is to propose a method based on a monolingual Word alignment model (WAM). An opinion target can find its corresponding modifier through word alignment. In addition, the WAM can integrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Evaluating Ethos Through Technology Essay Evaluating Ethos through Technology Logical and emotional appeals are two elements that Aristotle believed to be important in persuading an audience. Ethos also known as credibility is another important element in the attempt to persuade an audience. If the speaker is able to communicate the culture, language, and information to his or her audience, the audience will be more likely to perceive the speaker's character, goodwill, and intelligence. But, these attributes can only be evaluated if the speaker personally delivers the messages and provides the proper researched information (Rottenberg &Winchell, 2012, p. 4) In fact, in the 1950's, individuals would use dictionaries, encyclopedias, and books to research information. The information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, pointing and making fists can denote negative feelings toward the communicator. However, if the speaker shows the palm of his or her hands it can denote trust and put the audience at ease (Thompson, 2012). But without hand gestures and the actual presence of the speaker, the audience will have a difficult time evaluating the speaker's credibility. In ancient Greece, persuading an audience was easily done because most of the people shared the same world view. Moreover, the government had very strong regulations over the city. All speeches and stories were dictated and regulated by the government (Rottenberg & Winchell, 2012, p. 7). So most of people were able evaluate the information, understand its contents, and gain trustworthiness from the speaker. Today, people can communicate to people throughout the world and they may share many diverse views. For instance, an Arab from Iraq will most likely believe in the Quran whereas a person from China will most likely be Buddhist. These distinct cultures are important for the speaker to know in order for him or her to target the audience. If a writer does not include the correct vocabulary and information according to the audience's culture and age, the audience will not connect to the speaker. Without those specifications, it becomes very difficult for the audience to connect to a literary work that is unknown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Research Report On Rural Surveillance Rural surveillance, although can be done in almost any settings, is usually conducted in rural, farming, countryside or isolated areas where the use of an observation van is impractical. (Jenkins, 2010, p.205). The allegations and charges that were cited in both the Ruby Ridge and Waco incidents were severe enough to warrant such surveillance and information gathering. The allegations and charges in the case of the Waco siege and stand–off include firing of automatic weapons from their compound, modifying legally purchased guns into illegal weapons, stock piling illegal weapons, child abuse, advocating polygamy, fathering many children through a harem run by the leader of the group. The government also had an informant infiltrate the target but unknown to him, his cover had already been blown. The target must have fed him with wrong and misleading information as was evidenced in his reply about what the target group were doing. He replied that they were praying when in actuality they were arming themselves for the siege from the government. If the government had taken the time to set up an OP, taking note to use all rural OP precautions, they would have been able to overtime get in close, set up both surface and sub–surface OPs and gather evidence or information about the illegal weapons production activities, observe automatic gun fire activities, confirm daily routine of key target group members. The surveillance could have produced information on child abuse issues as well as polygamous activities. Intelligence from the surveillance could have been used to better coordinate efforts of all agencies involved with the siege. An even better alternative would have been to arrest the main target when he was out of his comfort zone as he often did by mingling with locals during gun shows. Lack of coordination even among one government agency with some leaning towards aggression while others opted for negotiations shows the level of unpreparedness to move forward with the mission. Instead of showing characteristics from just her new faction (Dauntless) or her old faction (Abnegation), Tris tends to show characteristics from other factions too such as Erudite. Her response to the dog in her aptitude test was considered intelligent and courageous because of the fact that she did not run in fear of getting attacked. Instead, she leaned down and was nice to the dog. In the Dauntless manifesto it states; "We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another" and that is exactly what Tris did in two situations throughout the book. (Roth pg. 47) The Abnegation inside her shined through when she chose to jump on the visious dog to save the inoccent little girl who's intention was only to pet the dog. The second situation was when she stood up for Al and took his place in front of the target while Four threw knives. • 28. Advertising : Advertising And The Consequences Of Advertising Due to the growing improvements of technology over the past few years, advertising has become part of our daily lives. The increase of media has caused rising competition between companies to grab the attention of potential customers. However, how companies sell their items or ideas has affected people in different ways. Advertising can cause the beginning or end of a company, make people rethink what is a necessity or social norm, make others realize their wrong doings, causes companies to target specific race, sex, and religion, and forces people to make a moral decision on what they are buying. When a company starts out, their main goal is to succeed and surpass any other companies similar to them, so advertising becomes an option. However, if they fail to grab the attention of any potential customer, it can cause them to shut down. Yet, many companies will try to succeed even if their product is unhealthy, for example, cigarettes and how "advertising continued to increase the size of the market, despite an expanding awareness of health risks..."(Shaw). Even though the risks have clearly been shown, advertising made this industry huge. People are shown how unhealthy and dangerous this product is, but companies make it seem like it's a good item by not mentioning the health issues, and its appeals to the consumer. However, stores are also shut down because of advertising and competition, for example, Sports Authority. I remember always seeing this store when I would go shopping with my mom, until one day we saw the sign that showed the whole store was on sale because they were closing. I did not think that was possible, but then I realized, it's the Internet's fault. I have seen countless advertisements on the computer, or phone of beneficial exercises or pills and cheap equipment, but I cannot recall seeing one of Sports Authority. Advertisement on the Internet and the increase of online shopping caused this store to close despite the increase in health awareness. It shows how powerful the Internet and advertising is for a company, and if they can not convince any customers, their company will not succeed as well as others. Although people watch television and attempt to ignore commercials, it is nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Origin Of Subliminal Advertising Origin and Development of Subliminal Advertising The sublingual advertising is actually traced to the year 1957 when the words "eat popcorn" and "Drink Coca–Cola" into a movie. This was introduced by James Vicary in what was meant to be just a trial and error thing to see if the subliminal mind could actually be able to recognize the words. It is actually stated that the words appeared a single frame and it was long enough for the subconscious to pick up but at the same time, it was too short for the viewer to be aware of it. It was later stated that the subliminal ads actually increased Coke sales by about by about 57.8 percent (Samuel pg., 104). This has certainly had a huge impact on the manner in which some of the people craft some of the decisions with the regards to advertising. It was later discovered that Vicary's experiments were actually a hoax hence no one should actually follow it. It was later discovered that even though this manner of ads has impacted it is clear that its effects certainly small. After being one of the most talked about things, it has been evident that most of the people have actually been subjected to what is termed as the new range of the adverts when the people are actually where that it has no much impact. There has been a huge debate on whether this advertising approach is cost– effective with its relation to the return on investment ply (Samuel pg., 109). • 35. The Vulnerabilities And Cyber Kill Chain A. ICS Vulnerabilities and Cyber Kill Chain 1. Reconnaissance – Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active reconnaissance techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target in the scenario. Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets. (1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well–organized cyber–attack, and is also one of the most time–consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the target's weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in: firewall ports that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should be obtained during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security policies, and human information. "Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted system to gather information about vulnerabilities." (2) This type of information gathering involves doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating systems, firewalls, password requirements and change frequency. Passive reconnaissance is focused more around public information and not engaging with the targeted systems. "Typical passive reconnaissance can include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Devon had recently helped a European company in setting up a manufacturing plant and seemed extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the semiconductor industry. The discussion can be focused to revolve around the key trends and technologies affecting the semiconductor industry. Interviewing Devon with direct questions to seek proprietary information about the target company would compromise McCaskey's business values and also possibly tarnish her name in the consulting industry. Conversely, ex–users are all aware of our product but do not have an affinity for Roaring Fork Beer. Furthermore, we must identify whether the reason our product is rejected is sensory or perceptual. • 45. The Debate Over Target Language The debate over target language (TL) really became apparent in schools with the introduction of GCSE's in 1988, which separated the study of modern foreign languages (MFL) into four skill areas, (speaking, listening, writing and reading) with a key emphasis on practical communication (Meiring, Norman, 2002). The latest subject specific Ofsted report for MFL highlights the ineffective use of TL in the classroom as a key feature in weak teaching. The report indicates that only using the TL for 'organisational matters and for praise' and resorting to 'immediate English translations', and not providing the opportunity for 'spontaneous use' of the TL is judged to be graded as requires improvement. Therefore, with the importance of the national curriculum, OFSTED and GCSE examinations, now more than ever the pressure is on for MFL teachers to promote the use of the TL within the classroom. However, there is a lot of dispute about the use of target language (TL) in the MFL classroom and key questions such as when and how often should we use the TL?' as well as when should we use the mother tongue?' have arisen. On one side, many argue in favour of the TL and feel that the national curriculum requirement is best met if classes are taught as often and as possible, using the target language as 'a real means of communication' (Jones, Halliwell, Holmes, 2002) and 'using it not only as a 'target' to be learnt but for other purposes, students are more likely to perceive it as a useful medium for communication (Littlewood, Yu) and develop more motivation to learn it (Chambers, 2013)'. In addition, using TL in the classroom provides significant learning opportunities, especially when there are few opportunities to use the TL outside of lesson (Yoshida). This view is reinforced by Turnbull (2001) who states that 'the teacher is most often the sole linguistic model for the students and therefore their main source of TL input' further emphasising the importance of communication in the TL in the classroom, especially when is not uncommon for ... One of the modules, repressor module, expresses fusion of riboswitch (RS) from an inducible PBAD promoter, second module, target module, contains a TALE binding site (TBS) downstream of a regulated or constitutively expressed promoter. Ribosome binding site (RBS) and gfp are present downstream to TBS (Fig. 1). gfp was used as proxy to quantitate the promoter expression. Repressor modules were based on kanamycin resistance medium copy number BioBrick plasmid, pSB3K3 (Shetty et al, 2008). Four different types of repressor modules, PR1T1, PR1T8, PR2T1, and PR2T8, were constructed combinatorially by implementing two types of riboswitches and two types of TALEs (supplementary table 1). Used riboswitches, Riboswitch–1 and 2, were theophylline inducible (Lynch & Gallivan, 2009; Topp et al, 2010). TALES with either low dissociation constant (Kd = 1.3±0.3, T8) or with high dissociation constant (Kd= 240±40, T1) were selected (Meckler et al, 2013). Although the United States military has specialist of languages, most are taught the language and may miss certain cues or inflection that would be caught by a person who is fluent with the native language. The task of finding and acquiring native speakers of hard target languages can be a burdensome task. For example, in a terrorist driven country, it may be challenging to find a willing local who speaks or writes the native language fluently for fear of being a "traitor" and the harm that could come to themselves or their families. However, the benefits for a willing individual could be very favorable. A native ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a private company, the contracting agency may not hold the same importance on security clearance and background investigating into potential candidates. As a contracted agency hired by the U. S. military it's a guaranteed paycheck and that easy money may blind them of potential damage to national security. In the post 9–11 world in which we live, the overall benefit of an Arabic speaking contractor with a criminal record outweighs the risk of not having this linguist working for the United States. There are critical downfalls of contractor work and linguists from contractor agencies are not immune to the same setback. For instance, layoffs are a common occurrence, the newly hired are disposable, the job itself is not reliable enough to plan for retirement. Even though the demand for hard target language experts is immensely high, the appropriate and extremely critical steps of looking into their background and into their families for terrorist ties should not be overlooked. It would only take one contracted linguist with terrorist intentions to allow an attack to take place or worse, contribute to the United States falling into a terrorist ... Throughout our day we like to take on more then one task at a time to finish something faster or to minimize time but research has shown that task switch can cost us time. Stephen Monsell (2003) conducted a study called "Task Switching" and concluded that switching between tasks can cause us time because the brain required "loading time", which hinders the focus on the actual task. Loading time lets our brain focus completely on one task and when that loading time isn't completed it becomes hard to focus on that specific task; let alone execute it correctly. This causes us to take up time in between task switching because our brain tries to adjust to the task and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Outline Of Recommendation For Change 3.1 Overview of Recommendation for Change As mentioned throughout the previous section, Target has a very comprehensive CSR program that covers most areas under this field. Because of this, there is little for the company to do in regards to starting any new divisions within their CSR efforts; therefore, I believe it would be most beneficial to fine–tune some of its programs to align with the company's customer base more closely. Additionally, I believe some of Target's current CSR efforts are rather broad and the company could benefit by really specializing within some of the areas and establishing goals moving forward. Finally, although Target seems to emphasize its dedication to supporting the community and collaborating with other organization, there seems to be a disconnect between this and some of the company's actions. 3.2 Aligning Company's CSR Efforts with Customer Base Target recently released its third quarter financial statements for 2016, where the company recorded a 11% increase in EPS over last year. CEO Brian Cornell credited much of this growth to its strong back–to–school shopping sales. He went on to say that Target has invested much effort in differentiating themselves from other competitors like Walmart by offering a more family– focused selection, particularly with children's apparel and educational toys. While it seems that this strategy is currently paying off for Target from its recent financial results, I believe Target could benefit even more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to provide the best care to our clients, one must fully indulge themselves into researching what works best and what does not appear to be as successful. Best practices inquiries, according to Petr and Walter (2005), is the process by which an investigator ascertains he current state–of–the–art approaches, models, and interventions for a given problem and target population. They believe that best practices allow social workers to draw into their professional decision– making. It also involves an appraisal of not only the quality of available research, but also the values that guide the research, policies, and practices within the social work field (Petr & Walter, 2005). Biopsychosocial Assessment The biopsychosocial assessment is essential in treating a client using the systems theory approach and is used to determine the target population in order to conduct a best practices inquiry. It allows practitioners to look at the whole person in order to identify factors that may support or hinder the treatment of their presenting problem. It also allows treatment teams to discuss and contribute to the client's intervention and goals. This particular biopsychosocial focuses on four–year–old Client X, and his multifaceted case.
