• Retells an event that the writer was personally involved in.
• Eg: Holiday at home, watching a world cup, etc.

• Eg: Titanic, Corona Virus, etc.

• Tells of an event in the past that didn't actually happen or was just
an imagination.
• Eg: Dream of being a Superhero

Reliving Memories: Recounting Past Events

  • 4. Text which tells about something happened in the past Recount Text
  • 5. Types of Recount Text • Retells an event that the writer was personally involved in. • Eg: Holiday at home, watching a world cup, etc. Personal Recount • It is certain that this event actually happened. • Eg: Titanic, Corona Virus, etc. Factual Recount • Tells of an event in the past that didn't actually happen or was just an imagination. • Eg: Dream of being a Superhero Imaginative Raecount
  • 6. Social Function Why is the text written? The text is written for .... What is the purpose .... What is the social function .... What is the writter’s intention .... To share unique or unusual experience To retell something unforgettable To give information about an incident To make the readers learn something
  • 7. Generic Stucture Orientation The background information of the person such as full name, place and date of birth. (who, what, when, and where) Event A series of events, ordered in a chronological sequence. Reorientation A personal comment about the event or what happened in the end.
