5. Lencho was a farmer who lived on the crest of a low hill with his family.
His field was full of ripe corn. He was eagerly waiting for a good rain to
have a good harvest.
As Lencho hoped, it started raining in the time of supper(dinner) which
gave Lencho a hope. He was very delighted to see that. He compared
rain drops with silver coins to show his joy. But soon his joy turned to
despair as the rain drops changed to hailstones which ruined the crop
field. The crop field was covered with snow.
Though Lencho was a poor farmer
and all his crops were destroyed, he
had firm faith in God. As he saw his
last hope in God, he wrote a letter
asking God for a hundred pesos, so
that he can sow his field again and
support his family until the new crops
are harvested.
6. After reading Lencho’s letter to God, the postmaster laughed but he
soon realised that Lencho had firm faith in God and his belief should
not be shaken. He decided to help Lencho, so he collected seventy
pesos from the office employees and also contributed a part of his
salary and handed the letter to Lencho himself.
Lencho became angry when he saw
only seventy pesos as he thought that
God cannot make a mistake in
sending the money and it was the
office employees who stole some
money from Lencho’s letter by God.
He again wrote a letter to God asking
him to send the rest of the money but
asked God not to send it through
money order because the post office
employees are a ‘bunch of crooks’
who stole his money.
