2. Fossil Fuels
• Fossil Fuels are energy sources
attained from ancient organic
remains. Fossil fuels are: coal,
natural gas and petroleum.
Fossil fuels are used for 90% of the
world’s energy and Australia on its
own 75%.
• There are no precise amount of time
until we run out of Fossil Fuels.
Many different people have
different views on how long they
will last
3. Fossil fuels are sources that
get extracted from the
earth in order to create
energy.
4. Humans are using the fossil fuels
100,000 times faster than they are
able to be made. For they are non-
renewable sources.
While we are using the fossil fuels
we are releasing green house gasses
into the air creating pollution. It is
the largest contributor to the CO2
gas emissions.
Due to the pollution climate change
(global warming) has started.
5. BIOMASS:
Biomass energy is produced in much
the same way as Fossil Fuels. It is
energy extracted from waste
products such as plant material,
animal material or even bacteria.
There is a large range of materials
that can be used for Biomass. They
include: Trees, Grain crops, Oil seed
crops, Sugar cane, Residues from
agricultural and Human or Animal
wastes.
I do not think that Biomass could fully
replace fossil fuels but it could help
cut down on the amount of fossil fuels
being used which will result in fossil
fuels lasting longer.
I think that if we keep using large
amounts of fossil fuels, we are
eventually going to run out and we’ll
be forced to use renewable energy. If
this happens it will result in losing
some of the world’s most precious
resources.
6. GEOTHERMAL
Geothermal energy is made by extracting heat
stored in the earth. It is used for applications
that need heat to run.
In just the US alone the amount of projects
working with geothermal energy has raised
26% in a year.
It is sustainable for it can come from many
different heats. These include: heat in
shallow ground, hot water, hot rock (which is
found beneath the Earth’s surface) and also
from the earth’s molten rock.
I have conflicting thought over whether
geothermal energy would be able to
realistically replace fossil fuels. I do think it
could because cars and other things run on
burnt coal which is heat so it would be just
like geothermal energy. However it would be
difficult replacing coal because they would
not give out the same amount of energy
needed.
7. Wind has been used by humans for hundreds of years. In order to make
wind into energy the wind goes through turbines that produce
electricity. When setting up turbines, people usually find windy places
such as near the beach or places with a high altitude.
The production rate of wind power has doubled over the last three years
thought still very little is produced. Though 80 countries around the
world are using wind power commercially.
There is an availability to have a widespread adoption because
everywhere gets wind and where there is wind there can be turbines.
Though I do not think that wind power could realistically replace fossil
fuels. This is simply because if there is a lack of wind during certain time
then there is a lack of energy.
