2. Purpose
To observe osmosis in a
cell
1) Place eggs in vinegar
to remove the shell.
2) Measure the weight of
the eggs.
3) Measure the size of
the eggs.
3. Purpose (2)
4) Place 1 egg in corn
syrup and place other in
water.
5) Weigh and measure
the eggs again.
8. Observations (2)
1) After 24 hours,
bubbles were appearing.
2) The eggs are floating.
3)Foam appeared on the
top.
4) The eggs became
softer.
9. Observations (3)
5) We put the corn syrup
egg into water.
6) Then we put the other
egg into water as well.
7) After a day, the CS egg
got smaller and weighed
less.
8) The Water egg got
larger and weighed
more.
10. Conclusion
Both eggs have an amount of
water in them.
The egg in the water had
become larger.
Since it had a lower
concentration than the water.
The water moved from high
concentration to low
concentration.
11. Conclusion (2)
The egg in the corn syrup had
become smaller.
The egg had higher
concentration of water than
the corn syrup.
So the water in the egg
moved from high
concentration (egg).
To lower concentration (corn
syrup)
