In the mid-1800’s, the Great Plains region was considered
“the Frontier” or wild, undeveloped area of the U.S. In roughly
30 years after the Civil War, this region was rapidly transformed
into a farming region as white settlers flocked to this part of the
U.S. to take advantage of the Homestead Act which gave 160
acres free to anyone who would settle on the land and Cultivate
it for 5 years. As a result, the “frontier” disappeared. Create a
Diagram/web showing this settlement of the Great Plains.
