3. WALT: Research the work of Antony Gormley and
make light outline drawings of a silhouetted figure.
Fill in the shape with ‘rigid’ or ‘scribbly’ lines or
marks in the style of Gormley’s sculptures.
Take away the outlines.
WILF:
• Use a range of lines to fill in the shape of your
figure
• Draw at least three different silhouettes. Try to
make the figure look like it is in interesting positions
(eg jumping, swimming, dancing...)
• Your finished drawings should not have any
defined outlines

6. WALT:
Make a 3D or 2D sculpture of a figure in the style of
Antony Gormley, using appropriate materials.
(these could be wire, wool, card, sticks, extinguished
matches etc)
WILF:
•Your figure should be in a well-considered, realistic
pose.
• Try to make your sculpture as ‘stable’/’sturdy’ as
possible. Gormley’s work is often created for the
outdoors, so try to make sure your work isn’t flimsy!
• Make sure your figure is all in proportion!

10. Imagine your sculpture is going to be
installed as a piece of PUBLIC ART.
Take a photo of your piece and
superimpose it into an image of your ideal
public location.
Or
Create a drawing of your sculpture in a
public place.
Explain your ideas – why have you chosen
this location? What size would your
sculpture be and how would the scale
make it an effective piece of PUBLIC ART?
11. Research the work of Antony Gormley and
imitate his straight or scribbly lines within
an interesting silhouette.
Make a 3D or 2D sculpture of a figure in
the style of Antony Gormley, using
appropriate materials.
Show your 2D or 3D figure in a
public space.

Some of you might then want to move onto extending your work
even further by doing task 3 as well.
