1. Pop!
1. 2. 3. 4.
If you do not understand any of the homework ask your teacher about it at least
three days before it is due in.
1. Research the comic style work of Roy Lichtenstein (eg. examples 1 and 2 above).
Draw a title, print at least 3 examples of his work and include some facts about the style of his
work. What inspired him? What size are his paintings? What are the main colours he
uses?
Target: Research and good page layout.

2. Find a comic strip of your own e.g Scooby Doo. Stick it at the top of a page in your book
and then draw a small square over what you consider to be an interesting part of it. Then draw a big
square underneath, at least 15cm x15cm and enlarge into it what is in the small square. Add
colour.
Target: Accurate enlargement and colour matching.
3. Research Andy Warhol and fill an A4 page with a title - ‘Warhol’, facts and images (eg no. 4
above). Whose image did he use the most? What well known products did he make prints of? Find
an image of Warhol himself.
Target: Research and page layout

4. Draw a can of soup/beans/any packet of food and insert your name onto the label in the
same font/style as that of the real label. (Use Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s soup cans, Brillo
boxes and Cola bottles for inspiration.)
Target: Accurate observation and drawing of fonts and bold colouring.
5. Find three images with famous logos on them (e.g. Kellogg’s, Nike, Coke, Playstation). Collage
them into your sketchbook overlapping the fonts. Select an area to copy by drawing a box around it,
and then draw what you see.
Target: Enlargement and composition
2. 6. Look at image 3 above by Claes Oldenberg who put oversized objects in landscapes.
Task: Find two images: one of a cityscape such as New York or London and one of an object
such as an iphone or an ice cream. Cut out the object carefully and position it in the cityscape so it
blends together.
Target: Careful cutting and arranging
7. Produce a ‘Pop Art’ style version of a favourite celebrity or icon. Find a good quality image then
simplify the facial features by only drawing outlines (very little detail). Add simple, bold colour using
coloured pencils and go over outlines in black. You could create this digitally if possible.
Target: Simplifying an image to create a Pop Art style portrait.
