1 Overview
1.1 System Overview
Lenovo Smart Assistant is a set of software tools applied on the Lenovo maintenance station. Its function
aimed at “Update ROM”, “Device Rescue” and “Tips Online”.
1.2 System Requirement
Lenovo Smart Assistant supports the following Windows operating systems along with their recommended
minimum configurations:

2 Setup
2.1 Setup Details
Double click the installation file “lenovo_smart_assistant_v2.0.0_201607.exe” and click “Next”:
Select “I accept” and click “Next”:

Designate the installation path by click “Change” if required and click “Next”:
Continue with the installation and click “Finish” to finish the installation:

2.2 Upgrade
2.2.1 Manual Upgrade
Click the drop-down menu at the top right and select “Check update”.
A new version will be updated if there is one.
Click “OK”, will download the new version.
Click “Install”,

2.2.2 Force Upgrade
After publish the force upgrade package, a new version dialog box will pop up automatically when user logs
in .Must Click “OK” to install the new version.
3 Plug-in Upgrade
Lenovo Smart Assistant can do upgrade for the “Update ROM”, “Device Rescue” and “Tips Online” Plug-in
Independently. It supports both force upgrade and recommends upgrade.
3.1 Force Upgrade for plug-in
If a plug-in update mode is set to enforced, user have to click “OK” to install the new plug-in.

3.2 Recommend Upgrade for Plug-in
“Cancel” button will appear if an update is not mandatory.
Click “Cancel” if you don’t want to install the update right now. After click “Cancel”, will show an upgrade
icon as below. You can click the icon if you want to upgrade next time.

4 Function Introduction
4.1 Update Rom
Click the “Update Rom” plug-in:
Once loading is completed, the “Welcome Screen” will appear (no device connected):
When the user’s device is connected via USB, Lenovo Smart Assistant will automatically recognize the
device. If the device is of a supported model and there have one matching ROM available, a similar display
will appear:

The Update Rom page displays the devices information including model, battery power, IMEI, built-in
storage capacity, external storage capacity, and operation system version. User can click “Update Rom” to
download the ROM.
When ROM downloading finished, it will transmit the ROM to connected device.
After ROM transmission finished, will start the ROM update process:
4.2 Device Rescue
Click “Device Rescue” tab to enter Device Rescue panel.

4.2.1 Download image
When select Model Name and HWCode, then click “Rom” button, it will enter ROM download view.
User select the online image, then click download button, the image will be downloaded.
The image will be extracted automatically after the image is downloaded completely. It will enter connecting
device tip view after extract completely.

4.2.2 Flashing
There are two flashing ways for user to choose: Online Flashing and local image flashing.
Click “Flash” button, it will enter device connecting tip view.
After connecting the device to PC according to notice, the flashing will begin. An interface displaying the
flash progression will appear:

Once the flash is completed, the following page will appear:
4.3 Tips Online
Tips Online will grab some data (Series information and SubSeries information) from Lenovo site through
API for Smartphone and Tablet.
After select Series and Subseries, Click “Go”

We can search the solutions by inputting partial characters.
We can filter the results by select the filter conditions.
