  3. 3. 1 Pre-RequisitesThis section describes software pieces which must be in place and configured before installing EPM Live4.3.1.1 Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2SQL Server 2008 R2 must be installed and configured for use by SharePoint. During the SharePointinstallation, do not install using SQL Server Express. If SQL Server Express is used for SharePoint, theEPM Live installation will not be able to take place and SharePoint will need to be re-installed.1.2 Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010SharePoint must be installed and configured before installing EPM Live. EPM Live requires a minimumof Service Pack 1 with the August 2011 cumulative update. However, the December 2011 cumulativeupdate is recommended if possible.The SharePoint farm should have a Web Application created specifically for EPM Live. It is notrecommended to use the same Web Application that is already hosting other SharePoint sites.1.3 SQL Reporting ServicesSQL Reporting Services 2008 R2 must be installed and configured in SharePoint Integrated mode on aSharePoint server in the current farm. In order for this to work properly, the SQL Reporting ServicesAdd-in must also be installed and configured into Central Administration. SSRS is a component of SQLand is installed using the same installation files that were used for SQL itself.   4. 4. 2 EPM Live InstallationInstallation files can be downloaded at http://downloads.epmlive.com. You will need the order numberand email address associated with your order.2.1 Running the EPM Live 4.3 Installation Package 1. Right-click the installation package, and choose Run As Administrator 2. Click Next on the opening page of the installer 3. Read the EULA details, and select the “I Accept” radio button. Click Next. 4. The Custom Setup page will allow you to change the installation path if needed. If you would prefer to change the path or drive that EPM Live installs to, click the Change button. Otherwise, click the Next button. 4 EPM Live Installation | EPM Live™
  5. 5. 5. Enter in the Username and Password of the Application Pool account. This account will be used to install the EPM Live Timer and Queue service. These are Windows Services, so the account will need to be a local administrator on the Application Box.6. Click Install. The wizard will process the installation for a few moments EPM Live™ | EPM Live Installation 5
  6. 6. 7. When the dialog box pops up, select the Web Application created specifically for EPM Live. Enter in the Database Server name, and modify the EPM Live database name if needed. Leave the Username and Password boxes blank to use Integrated Security. Click OK when done. 8. The wizard will proceed to install the Solutions and Database. When the dialog box is finished installing the solutions and Database, click the Close button. Please note, this may result in temporary downtime on any existing SharePoint sites in the farm.6 EPM Live Installation | EPM Live™
  7. 7. 9. The wizard will finish installing the services. If there are any errors, troubleshoot them as needed. Click Finish when it is done.2.2 Web.config ModificationsThere are some minor changes that need be made in the web.config. 1. Find the web config for the EPM Live Web Application 2. Edit the web config file in notepad and search for the “<providers>” section 3. At the bottom of this section, add the following line: <add name="MultiAppCustomSiteMapProvider" type="EPMLiveCore.MultiAppCustomSiteMapProvider, EPM Live Core, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9f4da00116c38ec5" /> 4. Search the web config file for “ReportViewerMessages”. Comment out this line by adding “<!—“ before and “-->” after it, like this: <!--<add key="ReportViewerMessages" value="Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Analytics.UI.ReportViewerMessages, Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" />--> 5.   8. 8. 3 Verify Installation SuccessBefore moving on, verify the solutions created properly, and that the services have started.3.1 Verifying SolutionsInstalling EPM Live creates a number of new solution files in SharePoint. Make sure these solutionsinstalled properly, and were deployed to the correct Web Application. In Central Administration, clickthe Manage Farm Solutions link under the Farm Management heading of System Settings. Make surethat all solutions that begin with “EPM Live” have a status of “Deployed.” If they are not globallydeployed, ensure that they have deployed to the EPM Live and Central Administration WebApplications.3.2 Verifying ServicesEPM Live installs two Windows Services, EPM Live Queue and EPM Live Timer Service. Click on Start,then under Administrative Tools, select the Services applet. Scroll down until you find the EPM LiveQueue and make sure its status is set to “Started.” Do the same for the EPM Live Timer Service. 8 Verify Installation Success | EPM Live™
  9. 9. 4 Central Administration ConfigurationAfter the installation has completed, finish configuration steps in Central Administration.4.1 Feature KeyEPM Live will need to be activated in order to use the new functionality. In Central Administration,General Application Settings, click the Feature Keys link under the EPM Live Administration heading.You should have received a Feature Key from EPM Live to activate your installation. If you servers donot have internet access, or are behind a proxy, you will need to use a manual key. Simply send theFarm Guid found on this page along with your key to your EPM Live representative, and they will assistyou.Enter your key into the “Add Key” section of the Feature Key page and click the Activate button. Youshould see the key listed in the top part of this page, along with each feature you have access to andhow many users are active for each feature. EPM Live™ | Central Administration Configuration 9
  10. 10. 4.2 EPM Live Connection StringClick the Application Settings link under the EPM Live Administration heading of the GeneralApplication Settings page. This page displays the connection string used for EPM Live for each WebApplication, as well as the SSRS information. Be sure to enter the URL for Reporting Services for yourEPM Live web application, along with the “Use Integrated Mode” box.The Connection String needs to be entered for the EPM Live web application, as well as CentralAdministration. If your Central Administration web application doesn’t have a connection string, youcan copy it from the EPM Live web application. The Status dialog will turn green when you click SaveSettings if your connection string is entered properly. 10 Central Administration Configuration | EPM Live™
  11. 11. 5 Creating a EPM Live Site CollectionAfter all installation is complete, you can begin creating EPM Live site collections.5.1 Creating the Site 1. Click the Create Site Collection link under the EPM Live Administration heading of the General Application Settings page in Central Administration. 2. Select the EPM Live Web Application. Give the new site a title and select the new URL. Be sure that the PortfolioEngine or WorkEngine Site App solution is selected in the dropdown. Use the Service Account for the Primary Site Collection Administrator. 3. For the Reporting Database section, select the “New” radio button. Enter in the SQL Server name, and give it a database name. We typically recommend using the site name and appending “_Reporting to make it easy to find. Once this is all filled out, press the OK button. EPM Live™ | Creating a EPM Live Site Collection 11

Enter the Username and Password of the Application Pool account to connect to the Reporting database that we created earlier. Be sure to check the “Use as Windows Credentials” box.   13. 13. 6. Set a time for the Notifications and Timer Service to run. Typically these are set to run late at night, or during off hours. Click Next.7. Select the No radio option and click Finish.8. Navigate to the EPM Live Setup page by adding “_layouts/ppm/setupppm.aspx” to the end of the URL of your site. EPM Live™ | Creating a EPM Live Site Collection 13
  14. 14. 9. Leave the Base Path as it is pre-populated. Enter in your Product Key for EPM Live and the Company name exactly as it was received by EPM Live. The Database Information section will be creating the EPM Live database. Enter your Database Server name. Typically the Database Name will be your base path followed by _EPM Live. The User Name and Password will create a brand new SQL Server Authenticated Account. This account is used for back end communication with the EPM Live database. Click Setup Site. 10. Reload the Setup Status page until you receive the Complete status.6 Getting Started ResourcesUpon completion of the installation, you can navigate to the Getting Started page.
