•Turks attacked and captured Baghdad from the Persians
•At this time period the Turks converted to the Sunni branch of Islam but they
still continued to make war on other Muslims.
1071
•Turkish sultans marched on the Byzantine Empire during Battle of Manzikert.
•Turkish forces crushed the Byzantine defenders.
1092
•Malik shah unexpected death. Seljuk Empire quickly disregarded into a
loose collection of a minor kingdom.
•No capable shah appeared after his death to replace Malik so the empire
disintegrated into a collection of minor empires.
