Unit 1: Families and Households What are the features of the paper? Have a look and write down any key features /questions on a post it note
What does the examiner want!!! Read the mark scheme in groups of 4 and come up with a list of things  You are marked on.
AS: Assessment objectives
A01 Knowledge – the main ideas,  key words and sociologists linked to a theory/idea or topic. Understanding– Showing that you understand through the use of Evidence and Explanation.     EVIDENCE -includes- studies and sociologists. The way you present sociological material  The coherence ,grammar, punctuation and  spelling.
A02 Interpretation Application Analysis  Evaluation
Interpretation This is about SELECTING the relevant material for the questions. Not writing ‘EVERYTHING’ you know about it! Using material which answers the question  Giving relevant examples e.g. from other areas in Sociology (family/education or in the media/current society.
Application Linking ideas together Showing how the material is relevant to the question.
Analysis Comparing and contrasting ideas  Explaining how they are similar and different Organising your ideas with a clear introduction and a logical line of  argument from paragraph to paragraph
Evaluation This is the ASSESS word in an essay Question. Weigh up the arguments Give arguments and evidence for and against a particular view. Examine a theories view discussing the strengths and limitations of a theory/statement. Put forward alternative views and perspectives
Look again at the mark scheme...  What would..... A- An A*-A student do B-A C grade student do C- An E grade student do/not do. Get ready to feedback in 10 minutes
