This document is Vandana Shiva's lecture on "Seed Freedom and Food Freedom in Times of Globalisation" given in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2013. She argues that corporate globalization, through free trade agreements and laws, aims to establish corporate rule by destroying people's freedoms, especially their freedom over seeds and food. This is done through privatizing seeds via patents and intellectual property laws, deregulating environmental and health protections, and shifting public funds towards corporate welfare from public welfare. She advocates for defending people's freedoms through practices like seed sovereignty and satyagraha resistance against unjust laws criminalizing traditional seed sharing.
