This document summarizes a study on rehabilitation models implemented after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China. It describes the establishment of a new institutional based rehabilitation (IBR) and community based rehabilitation (CBR) model through cooperation between local hospitals, health bureaus, disabled persons federations, NGOs, and international aid organizations. Outcome assessments at baseline in 2008 and follow-up in 2010 showed improvements in physical function, mental health, and social integration for earthquake survivors who received treatment through the new rehabilitation model.
