Pieter Hoff developed the Groasis Waterboxx, a plant incubator that helps saplings thrive in arid conditions without needing irrigation. The Waterboxx is a bucket with a cover that captures rainwater and condensation to provide enough water daily for plants to develop deep taproots to find water on their own. It has shown success in desert trials, with trees planted with the Waterboxx surviving at much higher rates than those relying on daily watering. Hoff aims to use the Waterboxx to reforest large swaths of degraded land worldwide and address the challenge of sustainably feeding a growing global population.
