Your Room Makeover
Erin,
Thank you so much for letting me makeover your room. I tried to come up with a space where your girls
could hang out and visit or watch tv together.
THE DESIGN
The biggest thing I did was give your room a focal point. I love the idea of building in an entertainment
center. Chris Love’s Julia built this one and wrote a great tutorial here if you’d like to recreate this exact
one.

Wall Colors
I think you could keep your walls the same grey color if you wanted. It’s a nice neutral color that goes
well with just about anything. You could also try a white (I love Benjamin Moore Cottonball if you’re
looking for a warm white) if you wanted.
If you painted the walls white, I would paint the built in the same color as the walls so it would all flow
together.
Furniture
Your couch is awesome and works well for this space. I think your ottomans work well too.
I did add a little console table behind the couch. I don’t have a specific resource for this one. But adding
a couple of lamps on either side would help brighten up the room a bit if you’ve got an outlet nearby. I
didn’t add any to the picture because they would have blocked the view of built in entertainment
center.
Rugs
You can’t really see it well in this shot, but I think adding a rug would warm it up a bit. You could have
some fun with color. I really love this pink one.
Artwork
A picture ledge is a great way to fill up all that space above your sectional. I used one that I found on
Pinterest and she linked to lot of the artwork she used in her post.
Accessories
I used these throw pillows as an example, but I think a couple of blush colored ones with texture would
be amazing in this room. It would tie into the rug and go really well with your sectional. I was only able
to find this pillow for sale online though.
Lighting
As I mentioned earlier, a couple of lamps behind the sectional would hep brighten up the space a bit. If
you decided to do the entertainment center, you could put these little battery operated puck lights in
each of the little cubbies to help light up the entertainment shelves. They’re controlled via remote
control too.
BREAKING DOWN THE PROJECT
Any of the things I suggested will help you towards your goal for this space. However, if you’re needing
to break this whole room down into smaller chunks for budget/time reasons here are a few things that
will make the biggest impact.
The media cabinet would give you the biggest impact because it would give the room a focal point.
Painting it white and keeping your current wall color the same would still look amazing.

The picture ledge would be an easy first step though because you’d create some visual interest on that
big wall over the sectional.
The rug would really ground the space and make it feel cozy and welcoming while also adding some
visual interest to the space.
Based on your current paint color, I think you could try out a few of these elements first to see if you like
it before trying a new color.
Let me know if you have any questions.
