You are expected to interview someone who had been to another country/ies in a business trip or as a tourist, or an international student/person who visited came to this country. You may interview a “Westerner” who did not travel but had interactions with “foreigners” in his/her Western country. Your interview will focus on the social and business interactions that your interviewee engaged in. After providing information about your participant and a rational for choosing him/her, you can ask questions similar, but not necessary limited, to the following: 1- When were you in that country? 2- How did you find your social/ business interaction similar/different from what you are used to. 3- Can you relate the most shocking or strange incident(s) that you witnessed or been part of? 4- Did you have any orientation (including personal research) about the customs and traditions of that country? 5- How did your learning of the culture of the country affect your experiences? 6- Did you notice that the religion, attitudes, and beliefs of the people affected their interactions or the way they conduct business? How? 7- What things would you do differently if you are to relive your experience doing business in that country? 8- What advice would you give to a foreigner going in a trip to that particular country? You may report your interview in any format you like (e.g. essay or question and answer). However, you need to conclude in a paragraph in which you link what your interviewee mentioned, the concepts of intercultural communication. Failing to include this paragraph will automatically drop your grade to half of the assigned grade for this assignment. Please remember that the provided questions should serve as a guide or sample for your interview. Cultural Interview
Pick a person to interview who has had a different cultural experience than you. Maybe the person or person’s family is from a different region or country. Other forms of diversity or difference are acceptable too. You may interview someone of any age, and it is OK if he or she is a co-worker, neighbor, friend, relative, spouse, or someone else you know. However, please keep in mind the spirit of the assignment. If you are interviewing someone you know well, please work hard in the interview to gain a deeper insight and appreciation for their experience.
Please conduct the interview face-to-face, through Skype/Face Time, or over the phone. The interview should be a minimum of 20 minutes long. Please take notes during the interview. If the interviewee gives you permission, you can record the interview to help you later when writing your assignment. It is not required to record or video tape the interview. You will not be turning in any recordings. You will be turning in a written assignment based on your interview.

You will conduct an in-depth, 1-hour interview with an individual or married couple from your selected cultural group in order to develop an understanding of the cultural factors that helped shape that individual’s or couple’s cultural identity.
A variety of issues may be explored in the interview. The knowledge you gained from both parts of the Cultural Immersion Project as well as your sense of the person/couple you interview will guide you in how personal you can get with your questions. Cultural groups and individuals vary on how private they are. Use their feedback regarding what areas you can probe. If the person is very open, go deeper. If not, respect that cultural boundary and ask yourself why that boundary is there. Issues that you may wish to explore during the interview include, but are not limited to, the following:

Effective user research requires both observation and interviewing. When doing research we strive to get outside our own default expectations and perceptions, in order to better see the details of what we're looking at, in other words, to understand the cultural context. This third component is the most crucial to innovation. Interesting things happen when we leave our homes and our comfort zone, perhaps in another country where business, language, food, and more is beyond our own frames of reference.
Steve Portigal, founder of Portigal Consulting, offers expert tips in both observation and interviewing, and considers the challenges and opportunities in conducting research abroad. He believes that one way to better understand a different culture is to look at how things in your own culture are handled differently. He gives some examples of how some things are promoted differently in Japan than in the United States. He states that mundane observations reveal important cultural differences.

Cultural Interview - Instructions
Purpose: To have you empathically experience newness in the form of a different culture, so that you can
gain greater self-awareness of your own values and beliefs, and learn about differences between and within
groups. Emphasis is on emotional responses and self-reflections.
Procedure
I. First, choose an interviewee from one of the groups listed below subject to the following four criteria:
1. You must not be a member of this group.
2. You must know very little about or have generally negative views of this group.
3. Family members, relatives, friends, co-workers, or anyone you know well are not appropriate.
4. The interviewee must currently live (so, study, work, volunteer, etc.; not a tourist) in the U.S.
Choose a group from the list below. Students are strongly encouraged to select groups listed in red
font subject to meeting the four criteria listed above.
- Subgroups of African Americans (ex: 1st generation immigrants from Africa)
- American Indians
- Latinos/Hispanics American subgroups (ex: Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans)
- Middle Easterners or North Africans (Ex: Egyptians)
- Asians (ex: Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Koreans) or Pacific Islanders
- Incarcerated African American males or those released from jail or prison
- Persons from Appalachia

III. Do some reading about the group of your choice from at least two sources (e.g., journal articles;
assigned readings, book chapters in Ethnicity and Family Therapy; A Different Mirror, etc.). Your
sources must be credible and not chosen simply for convenience.
IV. Conduct an interview either online (using Zoom, etc.) or telephonic (using video feature) with the
person from the group of your choice using the Interview Guidelines on page 2.
V. Submit your findings in the form of a paper and recorded presentation. The paper should be between
4-8 double spaced pages and the informal (verbal only) presentation should be between 8-10 minutes.
Instructions for the paper and presentation are on page 3. Don’t disclose the interviewee’s name in these
submissions.

Individual Encounter and Synthesis
You will conduct an in-depth, 1-hour interview with an individual or married couple from your selected cultural group in order to develop an understanding of the cultural factors that helped shape that individual’s or couple’s cultural identity.
A variety of issues may be explored in the interview. The knowledge you gained from both parts of the Cultural Immersion Project as well as your sense of the person/couple you interview will guide you in how personal you can get with your questions. Cultural groups and individuals vary on how private they are. Use their feedback regarding what areas you can probe. If the person is very open, go deeper. If not, respect that cultural boundary and ask yourself why that boundary is there. Issues that you may wish to explore during the interview include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Early childhood experiences and parental values;
· Earliest memories of recognizing membership in a culturally different group;
· The role of religion/spirituality;
· Immigration experiences;
· Similarities/differences between couples’ interactions in the U.S. to couples’ interactions in the individual’s culture;
· School experiences as a member of a cultural minority;
· Experiences with subtle racism or discrimination;
· Experiences with overt racism or discrimination;
· Ways the person/couple chose his/her/their career(s) or made career choices;
· The experience of being culturally different;
· Attitudes regarding the majority culture;
· Extent of desire to assimilate majority cultural attitudes, values, and lifestyles;
· Feelings of oppression;
· Feelings of anger toward majority culture;
· From the person’s/couple’s own cultural background, any potential racist attitudes toward or stereotyping of individuals from other particular cultures; and/or
· Strengths identified from the person’s/couple’s cultural background that help him/her/them cope with living in the U.S.
Once your interview is complete, you will answer the questions listed below. First person may be used in your answers, and you must observe correct and current APA style. The paper must have a correct title page, and you must use a reference page (no abstract is needed). A word estimate is beside each question; however, the quality of your answer is more important than the word count. You may expand further, but you do not have to do so.
In addition, your paper must be supported by at least 2 scholarly sources, and at least 2 internet and/or media sources, used in project part 1.
It is recommended that you use the following questions as level 1 headings to organize your paper.

Effective user research requires both observation and interviewing. When doing research we strive to get outside our own default expectations and perceptions, in order to better see the details of what we're looking at, in other words, to understand the cultural context. This third component is the most crucial to innovation. Interesting things happen when we leave our homes and our comfort zone, perhaps in another country where business, language, food, and more is beyond our own frames of reference.
Steve Portigal, founder of Portigal Consulting, offers expert tips in both observation and interviewing, and considers the challenges and opportunities in conducting research abroad. He believes that one way to better understand a different culture is to look at how things in your own culture are handled differently. He gives some examples of how some things are promoted differently in Japan than in the United States. He states that mundane observations reveal important cultural differences.

Cultural Interview - Instructions
Purpose: To have you empathically experience newness in the form of a different culture, so that you can
gain greater self-awareness of your own values and beliefs, and learn about differences between and within
groups. Emphasis is on emotional responses and self-reflections.
Procedure
I. First, choose an interviewee from one of the groups listed below subject to the following four criteria:
1. You must not be a member of this group.
2. You must know very little about or have generally negative views of this group.
3. Family members, relatives, friends, co-workers, or anyone you know well are not appropriate.
4. The interviewee must currently live (so, study, work, volunteer, etc.; not a tourist) in the U.S.
Choose a group from the list below. Students are strongly encouraged to select groups listed in red
font subject to meeting the four criteria listed above.
- Subgroups of African Americans (ex: 1st generation immigrants from Africa)
- American Indians

IV. Conduct an interview either online (using Zoom, etc.) or telephonic (using video feature) with the
person from the group of your choice using the Interview Guidelines on page 2.
V. Submit your findings in the form of a paper and recorded presentation. The paper should be between
4-8 double spaced pages and the informal (verbal only) presentation should be between 8-10 minutes.
Instructions for the paper and presentation are on page 3. Don’t disclose the interviewee’s name in these

Cultural Competence is an essential aspect of counselor training. In order to begin to understand a culture, it is essential to have sustained interaction with the culture. For the final project for this course, each student will be responsible for actively investigating multicultural issues in the “real world,” by gradually immersing in a culture different from their own. The immersion project will involve experiential learning about other cultures. The intent is to increase your knowledge and sensitivity to other cultures.
In order to complete this project successfully, you will need to work on it throughout the entire course. As part of the project, each of you will select a culture different from your own and participate in at least three distinct cultural immersion experiences/observations within that culture. The idea is to gradually immerse into the different culture over the course of the term. You may use the list of suggestions below to guide your immersion process or you can devise some ideas of your own. It is essential that each experience is qualitatively different from that of your own culture and that the experiences gradually become more involved directly with the culture of choice.
1. The activities you select must include active involvement in the culture/activity. In other words, you may “observe” the culture but you may not limit the activity to passive observation. Make sure that each activity involves interaction with members of the culture, either through active participation in the activity itself or through conversations with members of the culture. Of course your third activity, the personal dialogue, already requires your active participation.
2. Submit a written narrative of your immersion activities. The paper will be 8-10 pages long (typed, double-spaced, 12 point font), This paper must include the following elements:
· Identification and Description of Population: This section must clearly identify the population you will be studying, how this population is different from you, and what your perceptions of this group are at this point in life. The description of differences should include both the obvious (visible differences, etc.) and the not so obvious (religious beliefs, sexual orientation, etc.). Prepare for your interview ahead of time. Consider if the questions you plan to ask might be offensive in some way. Data Analysis 4: Interview
Directions:
Choose one participant that will agree to an administration of the interview schedule.
Find a quiet and comfortable place that sets your participant as ease. Remember not to deviate from the set interview schedule (although you can give minimal responses to requests for clarification or use neutral prompts or probes to get them going or keep them on track). Give your participant a pseudonym and record no information that could lead to their unique identification. Take detailed and exhaustive notes! Record everything because you may not realize that something is important until after the fact. Remember that the purpose of these content analyses is to gather data about how members of different groups think about, talk about, behave toward, or otherwise respond to another. You don’t have to record information that does not pertain to our purpose, but do record everything that may shed light on our research topic!
Take detailed notes during the interview. Include what they said and how they said it [important body language, pauses, and other non-verbal expressions should be noted in square brackets]. Find a quite place as soon after the interview is concluded to record your notes into this form. Clean your notes by removing your shorthand and explaining every detail. Remember that these notes need to be understandable on their own. Include everything and add additional details as you recall them. When you add detail after the fact in this first pass, use “Bright Green” text to distinguish it from your first observations.
Then set your notes aside for about 24 hours so that you can think about them some more. Make a third pass through your notes and use “Blue” text to distinguish these subsequent reflections from your first observations and your initial additions. It is important to make these distinctions clear because your understanding of the interview may change with time. Do not worry if your first, second, and third passes through your data agree with one another. Again, your perspective may change. It is important that you do not delete previous notes, but merely add to them each time through.
Finally, in all three passes, be careful to distinguish between what was said and your interpretation of what was said. Actual descriptions should be recorded in regular text (in the appropriate color), but your interpretations, opinions, and inferences from the data should be italicized. Try to maintain this “fact-value” distinction as carefully as you can (although it is impossible to be perfect in this regard). You can use as many pages for your notes as you need. This document will expand to make room. But please be conscientious about recording everything, including your reactions as the interviewer! Good luck and have fun!

Overview:
Students will conduct an interview with an individual who identifies as being of another culture. The person interviewed must differ from you in at least two significant ways (culture, religion, primary language, country of origin). There are two parts of this project: the first being the interview, and the second is academic research on aspects of your interviewee's culture. Your written explanation, description, and outside validation (through references) will point out the differences you find between cultures.
The paper must follow APA style, and will include a title page, reference page, and running header. No abstract is needed. APA standards include size 12 Times New Roman font, double-spaced and normal margins. You may use the following as guidelines for headers:
Introduction

· Contact your instructor at least three weeks before this assignment to make sure you have chosen an indigenous group. Numerous students have made mistakes in understanding what is meant by indigenous. Please review your readings. It is also best to NOT choose a group in the United States (they have assimilated to U.S. Culture and it can be difficult to write paper).
You will be constructing an ethnography of an indigenous culture of your choice. To help you choose an indigenous culture, I would recommend starting at these websites:

I must approve your choice by the fourth week of the semester. This is not an activity you will want to procrastinate on.

Cultural Competence is an essential aspect of counselor training. In order to begin to understand a culture, it is essential to have sustained interaction with the culture. In order to complete this project successfully, you will need to work on it throughout the entire course. As part of the project, each of you will select a culture different from your own and participate in at least three distinct cultural immersion experiences/observations within that culture. The idea is to gradually immerse into the different culture over the course of the term. You may use the list of suggestions below to guide your immersion process or you can devise some ideas of your own. It is essential that each experience is qualitatively different from that of your own culture and that the experiences gradually become more involved directly with the culture of choice.
1. The activities you select must include active involvement in the culture/activity. In other words, you may “observe” the culture but you may not limit the activity to passive observation. Make sure that each activity involves interaction with members of the culture, either through active participation in the activity itself or through conversations with members of the culture. Of course your third activity, the personal dialogue, already requires your active participation.
2. Submit a written narrative of your immersion activities. The paper will be 8-10 pages long (typed, double-spaced, 12 point font), This paper must include the following elements:
· Identification and Description of Population: This section must clearly identify the population you will be studying, how this population is different from you, and what your perceptions of this group are at this point in life. The description of differences should include both the obvious (visible differences, etc.) and the not so obvious (religious beliefs, sexual orientation, etc.). Prepare for your interview ahead of time. Consider if the questions you plan to ask might be offensive in some way. Data Analysis 4: Interview
Directions:
Choose one participant that will agree to an administration of the interview schedule.
Find a quiet and comfortable place that sets your participant as ease. Remember not to deviate from the set interview schedule (although you can give minimal responses to requests for clarification or use neutral prompts or probes to get them going or keep them on track). Give your participant a pseudonym and record no information that could lead to their unique identification. Take detailed and exhaustive notes! Record everything because you may not realize that something is important until after the fact. Remember that the purpose of these content analyses is to gather data about how members of different groups think about, talk about, behave toward, or otherwise respond to another. You don’t have to record information that does not pertain to our purpose, but do record everything that may shed light on our research topic!
Take detailed notes during the interview. Include what they said and how they said it [important body language, pauses, and other non-verbal expressions should be noted in square brackets]. Find a quite place as soon after the interview is concluded to record your notes into this form. Clean your notes by removing your shorthand and explaining every detail. Remember that these notes need to be understandable on their own. Include everything and add additional details as you recall them. When you add detail after the fact in this first pass, use “Bright Green” text to distinguish it from your first observations.
Then set your notes aside for about 24 hours so that you can think about them some more. Make a third pass through your notes and use “Blue” text to distinguish these subsequent reflections from your first observations and your initial additions. It is important to make these distinctions clear because your understanding of the interview may change with time. Do not worry if your first, second, and third passes through your data agree with one another. Again, your perspective may change. It is important that you do not delete previous notes, but merely add to them each time through.
Finally, in all three passes, be careful to distinguish between what was said and your interpretation of what was said. Actual descriptions should be recorded in regular text (in the appropriate color), but your interpretations, opinions, and inferences from the data should be italicized. Try to maintain this “fact-value” distinction as carefully as you can (although it is impossible to be perfect in this regard). You can use as many pages for your notes as you need. This document will expand to make room. But please be conscientious about recording everything, including your reactions as the interviewer! Good luck and have fun!

This diversity brings with it many great benefits but it can also impact communication and relationships in unexpected ways. Consider if you, as a professional in Human Services, have to provide in-home services to a family that has recently immigrated to the United States from another country. How might this diversity impact expectations, communication, and relationships of all involved? Could you gather some information related to their culture prior to engaging with them?
Purpose:
This interview and paper project focuses on exploring and learning about cultural differences in interpersonal relations and communication. One way to safely experience and identify differences is through interviewing a person from a culture significantly different from your own.
Overview:
Students will conduct an interview with an individual who identifies as being of another culture. The person interviewed must differ from you in at least two significant ways (culture, religion, primary language, country of origin). There are two parts of this project: the first being the interview, and the second is academic research on aspects of your interviewee's culture. Your written explanation, description, and outside validation (through references) will point out the differences you find between cultures.
The paper must follow APA style, and will include a title page, reference page, and running header. No abstract is needed. APA standards include size 12 Times New Roman font, double-spaced and normal margins. You may use the following as guidelines for headers:
Introduction
Introduce your interviewee, how you know the person, and describe the cultural differences and reason for choosing this person. Include a thesis statement explaining the research aspect of the assignment. Clearly identify the part of the culture that you chose to explore.
Interview
Write a narrative summary of the interview, where you paraphrase the discussion and highlight what you've learned about the cultural differences of the interviewee. You may relate some of the interview to course material.
Related Research
This section will cover the research aspect of the assignment. Explain why the topic interested you, and continue your discussion using APA standards for in-text citing. Remember to integrate what you learned about your interviewee in with your research.
Conclusion
A strong conclusion paragraph is expected to summarize and tie together what you learned throughout the interview and research.

Who are the world's leading practitioners of Denial and Deception; How have they developed, or acquired their capabilities; Do they share their capabilities, and if so, with whom;
China and Iran are the world's leading practitioners of Denial and Deception. In true Cold War fashion the PRC continues to mislead the international community about its arms build up and its geo-strategic goals in the Far East and South East Asia. Tactically, through the use of conventional forms of deception and “...electronic decoys, infrared decoys, false-target generators and angle reflectors” (Gertz 2008, np) during operations and testing procedures the Chinese have prevented others from gaining insight into their capabilities and intentions. Strategically, as it grows stronger the PRC aims to use all available means to settle territory related disputes with Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan and Japan. Along with their own ingenuity and skill the most important sources for technological tools of deception and denial have come from business transactions with Russia and outright theft from the United States. It has also acquired American technology through our allies such as Israel. China has shared its capabilities with Pakistan, Iran, Syria and North Korea.
Iran has certainly practices both functions in order to hide the progress or lack there of concerning its nuclear ambitions. It has also practiced deception in order to intimidate its neighbors and the United States. In 2006 the Iranians had released a video of an allegedly successful missile test to showcase their military capability but after careful analysis “...U.S. intelligence officers analyzed the plume of smoke from the missile and determined it matched a video of an earlier Chinese test” (Barnes 2006, np). The Iranians have developed much of their capabilities with help from China and North Korea and have shred their capabilities with their allies in the region, mainly Syria and Lebanon.

The following section demonstrates the core knowledge that I am qualified to graduate from Mechanical Engineering graduate program.
This section will focus on two different fields:
· Material properties and Selection
· Simulation of processes
In Material properties and Selection field, the main concept is to identify the different properties of material to meet the requirement of the design. This is the early step for mechanical engineer to select the material for manufacturing products, which means by obtaining this knowledge I am capable of implementing what I learn to help designing a product for a company. For example, the core knowledge that I obtained in one of my graduate classes can demonstrate this field. The final project of the class, shown in Fig 1., is the standard procedure of early design that will be used for manufacturing industries. The result of the project shows that I am capable of using the trade-off plot which include several factors density, Young’s modulus, yield strength, and cost to identify the material that meet constrains and objectives of the design. Moreover, understanding the definition of each material property and the corresponding limitation. Such as density will affect the mass and volume and yield strength indicates the limit if elastic behavior are the basic and also the requirement of being a master student of mechanical engineering.

For the second field, Simulation of processes, before any complex or costly manufacturing process. It is indispensable to run the simulation before the actual process. Not only the error can be predicted in the result of the simulation but the overall result of the end product. For example, the casting process for an impeller, a rotor with blades used to increase the pressure and/or flow of a fluid, is challenging and also easy to fail. However, with the help of simulating the process, shown in Fig. 2 &3, the failure of the casting process is able to be predicted by identifying the location of maximum principle, which the growth of the crack will occur in direction perpendicular to, and maximum normal stress, which the failure will occur, to improve the actual casting process and prevent the failure of a process.

Both two fields listed above, Material properties and Selection and Simulation of processes,
demonstrate the essential core knowledge that I obtained while studying master of mechanical engineering. The first enable me to determine which material is the most suitable for the product, which allow me to work as a design engineer. The latter help me simulate the manufacturing process which can also help me with my future to work as a process engineer.

Dale and Mike Parak were twin brothers and best friends. They spent their entire lives looking out for each other's interests. While growing up, the two were inseparable. They played sports together, double-dated frequently, and attended the same university. They grew closer as they aged, they got married at about the same time, and eventually, both were divorced. After they retired from their jobs, they decided to live together to save money, and they still enjoyed each other's company.
When he was 70 years old, Mike was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors predicted that he had about 6 months to live. The brothers agreed that Mike should not suffer. Mike and Dale wrote and signed a note stating that they decided to commit suicide. Dale broke 20 tranquilizers into Mike's evening meal and watched as he ate it. Yet, when Dale checked on Mike one hour later, Mike was still alive. Dale panicked. He took a .38-caliber revolver from his desk and shot Mike, killing him instantly. Dale then went into the kitchen and took a handful of tranquilizers. He did not die. He awoke the next morning as somebody pounded on the front door. It was a neighbor who, seeing that Dale was dazed and confused, decided to call an ambulance and the police.
The responding police officer conducted an investigation, and Dale was arrested and charged with the premeditated, 1st-degree murder of Mike. The prosecutor, although noting it to be a difficult case, pursued the case because she thought that no citizen had the right to decide when someone should die. Dale Parak pled guilty to 1st-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 5 years in a maximum-security prison. (
Note:
This was the lowest sentence that could be given to a defendant convicted of his crime.)

This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

You are expected to interview someone who had been to another co
- 1. You are expected to interview someone who had been to another country/ies in a business trip or as a tourist, or an international student/person who visited came to this country. You may interview a “Westerner” who did not travel but had interactions with “foreigners” in his/her Western country. Your interview will focus on the social and business interactions that your interviewee engaged in. After providing information about your participant and a rational for choosing him/her, you can ask questions similar, but not necessary limited, to the following: 1- When were you in that country? 2- How did you find your social/ business interaction similar/different from what you are used to. 3- Can you relate the most shocking or strange incident(s) that you witnessed or been part of? 4- Did you have any orientation (including personal research) about the customs and traditions of that country? 5- How did your learning of the culture of the country affect your experiences? 6- Did you notice that the religion, attitudes, and beliefs of the people affected their interactions or the way they conduct business? How?
- 2. 7- What things would you do differently if you are to relive your experience doing business in that country? 8- What advice would you give to a foreigner going in a trip to that particular country? You may report your interview in any format you like (e.g. essay or question and answer). However, you need to conclude in a paragraph in which you link what your interviewee mentioned, the concepts of intercultural communication. Failing to include this paragraph will automatically drop your grade to half of the assigned grade for this assignment. Please remember that the provided questions should serve as a guide or sample for your interview. Make sure to ask about comparisons between the country your interviewee visited and the common expected behavior in similar settings in the United States.
