Choosing Your Interviewee
Prepare yourself to do an interview of a colleague, whose early life/childhood was spent in a very different location
. For instance, if you lived your early childhood in Nigeria, then you might want to interview a colleague or friend from the Caribbean or the USA--or somewhere else, but
do not interview
someone from Nigeria. If you were born in the US, then you might ask a work or class mate from Nigeria, or the Caribbean or a
place other than the USA
. If you are a part of a family that immigrated to the US, interview someone who is
not
from the country of your family.
If you are in the military or with a contracting group, and have a top security clearance, then email me to discuss your interview plans.
Do not interview your boss or a direct report—the existing work relationships make it difficult to complete the assignment.
Do not interview a very close friend because you are likely to skip some ideas due to being familiar.
Consider choosing a classmate in this course.
You then can exchange interview information quickly.
Note:
Interviewing a classmate is not required.
Your choice of interviewee is important to being successful in this assignment.
If you have questions about the differences between your childhood location and the person you are thinking about interviewing, then send me an email (

Do NOT complete your interview by email.
Use f2f, phone or an online chat.

Week 2 Application—Interview
Understanding Differences in Perspectives on the
Care and Education of Infants and Toddlers
Step 1: Interview Setup
Identify an adult who you would like to interview based on the following criteria:
· He or she is a parent of or family member who lives with a child age three or under. (Note: Although the suggested interview questions are written for parents, you may modify the wording to be appropriate for another family member who has a close relationship with the child.)
· His or her cultural framework appears to be similar to yours. (To determine this, take time to consider your own cultural background and the insights you gained from the Application in Week 1.)
Then, contact the person you would like to interview and inform him or her that you are working on a course on cultural and family studies for infant/toddler professionals and would like to learn about his or her perspectives on the care and education of an infant or toddler in his or her family.
Schedule the interview, which should take approximately 30 minutes or longer.
Step 2: Pre-Interview Writing
Before the interview, write a paragraph describing your interviewee and explaining why you believe his or her cultural framework might be similar to yours.
Step 3: Interview
Conduct the interview. While you may be accustomed to casual two-way conversation with your interviewee, be sure to keep the focus of this interview on learning about your interviewee’s perspectives. You will have an opportunity to reflect on your own views after the interview concludes.
During the interview:
· Focus on creating a sense of trust.
· Ask open-ended questions and allow plenty of time for your interviewee to think about his or her response.
· Listen deeply to what is said (or not said), without judgment.
· Observe the person’s demeanor. Notice any verbal and nonverbal cues that may indicate that he or she feels uncomfortable.
The following questions are provided as a reference and reflect the content you will be exploring throughout this course. You may wish to amend these questions or add new ones based on this week’s Learning Resources.
Interview Questions
Before you begin asking questions, take a little time to talk about how you have begun to conceptualize culture, as well as what your own identity means to you. Then, naturally segue into the first interview question.
1.
How would you describe yourself in terms of your culture? How do you think your culture influenced your family upbringing? How do you think your culture and family upbringing have influenced your identity?
2.
How would you describe your child, including his or her cultural background?
3.
What language(s) do you speak with your infant/toddler? What language(s) do other people in his or her life speak?
4.
Could you tell me about how you approach schedules in your child’s everyday life? Do you believe that an infant/toddler should have a regular schedule for feeding or eat when.

Getting to Know Another’s Culture: Total Points Possible for all related work: 100
Objective: To gain a deeper understanding of the culture identity from someone from another country.
Directions: You are to interview two people from a country different than your home country. If you are not from the United States, you may interview only one US citizen. You may not interview anyone currently in International Management. This is a significant assignment for international management as at some point if you have not already done so, you will be working with people from other countries/cultures. What you do now to gain experience and a breadth of knowledge will make a difference for you in the future on campus and in the professional environment as a manager, co-worker, customer/buyer, and global citizen.
I recommend using your laptop to ask the questions so you can type responses quickly. Once you have completed each interview, you need to write a reflection piece on what you learned and more importantly what you think it would be like to live in each respective culture. Submit the completed interview and reflection to the dropbox. There is a separate dropbox for each interview and reflection. This is a two week assignment. The first is due by 6PM on Tuesday October 21st, and the second is due at 6PM on Tuesday October 31st. Each interview is to be detailed and the reflection very well written. When the assignment is over, I will be posting your reflections (without your name) for everyone to read and write an overall reflection on the postings.
Who to interview: This is up to you as long as you follow the rules noted above. However, I would like to see a significant cross section of cultures and would strongly encourage you to interview faculty and business professionals, too.
Do not include the name of the individual you interviewed in your assignment. Just the country/culture and the role of the person (student, faculty, business professional, etc.).
Once the second interviews are complete and posted, I will post a document with all of your interviews. You will then be assigned to review all of the posted reviews. Then answer the following questions:
1. What 10 things stood out to you?
2. Did any of the interviews make you want to travel to a particular country? Why?
3. What did you learn about your cultural knowledge?
4. Why would it be important for an international manager (expatriate manager in another country), to develop an international cadre?
The due date for the review of reviews is 6PM by Sunday November 4th.
The Dropbox for Interview 1 is now open.
You’re welcome to ask clarifying questions.

Pick a person to interview who has had a different cultural experience than you. Maybe the person or person’s family is from a different region or country. Other forms of diversity or difference are acceptable too. You may interview someone of any age, and it is OK if he or she is a co-worker, neighbor, friend, relative, spouse, or someone else you know. However, please keep in mind the spirit of the assignment. If you are interviewing someone you know well, please work hard in the interview to gain a deeper insight and appreciation for their experience.
Please conduct the interview face-to-face, through Skype/Face Time, or over the phone. The interview should be a minimum of 20 minutes long. Please take notes during the interview. I think that the title in Plato’s Cave is significant, because it pr.docxheathmirella
I think that the title in Plato’s Cave is significant, because it provides an allusion to the allegory of the cave from Plato’s Republic where individuals confined in a cave only indirectly observe objects from shadows on a wall. Much as the prisoners in the cave cannot interact with the images that they perceive images in photographs are not the actual image themselves, but rather a frame of experience from a specific slice of time. As Sonntag notes “photographs are as much an interpretation of the world as paintings and drawings are.” (p.4) Viewing the pictures themselves is akin to being in a cave where the photographers’ slice of experience is what we see of an event. By definition, we cannot interact with that event much like the prisoners chained in the cave cannot interact with the shadows they see on the wall. While paintings and drawings due to the time needed to produce them and the limited number of people with skills to draw or paint is a much more limited reproduction of events that we did not witness first-hand the “photographing eye changes the terms of confinement in the cave, our world.” (p.1) Photographs offered to expand that world that we can indirectly perceive.
In the article, Sonntag argues, “one never understands anything from a photograph.” (p.17) Sonntag earlier in the article mentioned that while exposure to pictures can make the world more real that “after repeated exposure to images it also becomes less real.” (p. 15) As she notes, “images anesthetize.” The problem is that after a while photographs cheapen actual atrocities. The viewer tends to view it as “only a photograph” because understanding “starts from not accepting the world as it looks.” (p.17) Ultimately taking things as face value often can mislead as any given photograph, “must always hide more than it discloses.” (p. 18) Naturally one not only misses the portions of the scene that are outside of the frame of the image, but you are only looking at a specific moment. There are an infinite number of other pictures that could be taken from other points of references or other points in time. Photographs themselves “are inexhaustible invitations to deduction, speculation, and fantasy.” (p. 17) An individual image can help be part of providing information about a situation, but it cannot provide an immersive experience that first-hand experience offers and in the absence of context the omitted information can potentially mislead the observer.

Business research methods that I can use to bring research to live in my current job duties are the use of content analysis, identifying options for data entry and manipulation, data analysis techniques, and effective ways of presenting insights and findings.
Data and other information are
key
inputs to research and analysis. Data-generation methods and database fields should
be clearly specified
, and the data should be properly screened and manipulated (Sayago, 2015). My team bears the responsibility
of
identifying and indicating the limitations in the quality of available data and any information presented should be as factual correct and verifiable. Sampling
data sets
will
be created
from the total number of transactions in each task category. A numeric value
is assigned
to each transaction creating a total sum to be considered for sampling. The
sum
will be entered into the research randomizer program to generate a percentage (number) of transactions to retrieve for sampling. The transaction numbers generated will identify each transaction for auditing.
A high-quality study thoroughly explores data analysis techniques, the implications of its findings. It examines where new knowledge and old knowledge are congruent and where they are not; it examines whether existing theories and conceptual frameworks have been strengthened or must be modified. The Team creates an analytical model of the argumentative relationship of reports, showing that data analysis
which
allows the construction of both qualitative and quantitative data. For decision makers, high-quality findings may bear importantly on a particular decision or deliberation. Or they may contribute to an ongoing debate, helping to frame or inform the discussions in a policy area.
Quality improvement documents
are presented
in report and presentation format and are included as an integral part of the professional development for all Member Services employees. Member satisfaction is the most significant external indicator of the success and effectiveness the company services and can
be measured
through direct member feedback and the external resources utilized to facilitate survey results. Even given the inherent limitations of
spontaneous
report, the usefulness of this data source can
be improved
with good data quality management (Lindquist, 2024).

I need two obituaries (minimum 250 words each) in remembrance of President Abraham Lincoln, assuming the role of an editor for a fictional newspaper on two distinctly different dates. It is your choice of who your audience is and what emotion the content contains, but each article should provide a perspective on the political, economic, and social impact that he had on the nation before, during and after the Civil War. The first obit will be dated April 16, 1865 and will need to assumew the role of an obituary from that date. Keeping in mind what would be known, thought and felt at that time. The seocnd will be dated April 16, 2015, and will need to assume the role of a remembrance of his legacy, considering his legacy 150 years after his death. Both obituaries will be submitted together as one document. The details about Lincoln's time, location and cause of death will of course be common to all obituaries and do not need to be cited; any other materials (e.g. quotes, accounts) must be cited and referenced using APA style. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Choosing Your Interviewee
Prepare yourself to do an interview of a colleague, whose early
life/childhood was spent in a very different location
. For instance, if you lived your early childhood in Nigeria,
then you might want to interview a colleague or friend from the
Caribbean or the USA--or somewhere else, but
do not interview
someone from Nigeria. If you were born in the US, then you
might ask a work or class mate from Nigeria, or the Caribbean
or a
place other than the USA
. If you are a part of a family that immigrated to the US,
interview someone who is
not
from the country of your family.
If you are in the military or with a contracting group, and have
a top security clearance, then email me to discuss your
interview plans.
Do not interview your boss or a direct report—the existing work
relationships make it difficult to complete the assignment.
Do not interview a very close friend because you are likely to
skip some ideas due to being familiar.
Consider choosing a classmate in this course.
You then can exchange interview information quickly.
3. Note:
Interviewing a classmate is not required.
Your choice of interviewee is important to being successful in
this assignment.
If you have questions about the differences between your
childhood location and the person you are thinking about
interviewing, then send me an email (
[email protected]
)
Do NOT complete your interview by email.
Use f2f, phone or an online chat.
(LEO has a personal chat option).
Adler’s book, Chapter 3 helps you think about exactly how to
gather information about culture from the person you are
interviewing.
Read carefully.
To make the questions more concise and easier to use, they are
adapted and listed here
.
Please use the questions below to make notes about comments
from the interview on the following topics:

4. awareness.
