Arthritis is inflammation of a joint; most arthritis is caused by degenerative changes related to aging and sometimes injury. Arthritis affects not only joints but also connective tissue throughout the body can be involved, as well.
Presentation on role of OT in Arthritis through various joint protection techniques, energy conservation techniques and how these can be done with the support of adaptive and assistive devices.
Arthritis means the inflammation of one or more joints. Both small and large joints can be affected. It is painful and makes the patient immobilize. It is not just a disease of older people only but of all ages, both genders and all races can be affected by arthritis, Arthritis affects 15% people i.e. over 180 million people in India. This prevalence is higher than many well known diseases such as diabetes, AIDS and cancer. Arthritis is not a single disease; it is an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease result from inflammation. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis and related conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus arthritis, reactive arthritis, adult-onset still’s disease, behçet's disease, mixed connective tissue disease, bursitis, tendinitis etc .

Homeopathic medicines are very highly effective in management of piles and the symptoms associated with it such as pain, bleeding, itching, etc. The point to be emphasized is that the relief of symptoms is obtained with absolute gentleness and without invasion or surgery of any kind. Besides, the condition has high backslide rate taking after surgical treatment, since surgery does not focus on the main drivers such as hereditary inclinations, periodic clogging, and so forth. Homeopathic drugs work at the root level and can change these hereditary inclinations accordingly decreasing odds of backslide and repeat of the condition essentially. Homeopathy treatment reduces the intra abdominal pressure. There are good medicines that relieve constipation which plays major role in developing piles.

Muscle tears are extremely common and are often recurrent. They are not as simple as we used to think and the advent of better imaging has proven that the site, size and location of the tear, together with the presence or otherwise of the tendon is crucial information especially for elite or professional athletes, who need accurate information about return to play. Traditional treatments of electrotherapy are simply placebos. The challenge ahead is to optimise treatments for the various diagnostic categories.

What are the four stages of osteoarthritis.pptxpallaviparmar9
Do you have osteoarthritis? Learn about what to expect throughout the 4 different stages of knee osteoarthritis and the proper treatment for each stage.
Presentation explaining what rheumatoid arthritis and other RMDs are, their increasing burden, risk factors, diagnosis, and an overview of treatment options.
Arthritis affects one out of every five Americans – an estimated 52.5 million people – and is the leading cause of disability in the nation. The condition itself can make it difficult and painful to conduct even the most mundane daily tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, using a computer, or brushing your teeth. The term “arthritis” encompasses over 100 rheumatic conditions that impact the body’s joints, causing pain and inflammation to those who suffer with it.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

2. Introduction
• Life becomes no less than hell when simple daily activities like
sleeping, eating food, changing clothes, and brushing becomes
difficult. Such people fight with life daily; they lose every day
and win every day. This is an everyday fight for the patient of
rheumatoid arthritis.
• It is a common belief that arthritis manifests after the age
of 40. Unfortunately, in today’s scenario, this age had come
down to 20, due to a poor diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. Due
to arthritis, people reduce their daily physical activities. This
reduction makes their condition worse (Discussed in the latter
part of this article).
3. Out of many types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are
most common. The difference between these two is as follow:
4. • In simple language, osteoarthritis manifests due to the
degradation of cartilage in the joint. Following factors play a
pivotal role in the occurrence of osteoarthritis:
1. Genetic factors
2. Sports injuries
3. Bad postural habits (Most important and most common)
• Due to the drying of synovial fluid, bones of the joint start
rubbing each other. That is why patients of osteoarthritis
experience unbearable pain in the joint. Generally, it starts
from a particular joint, and thereafter, it affects most of
the joints in the body and could even paralyze the individual.
5.
6. The symptoms mentioned above become worse, when a
patient of arthritis, also deals with stress and
inactivity. Let us see HOW?
Often, the patient of arthritis decreases his physical
activity.76% of the people with arthritis are
inadequately active, which results in weak muscles and
ligaments. Conversely, regular light physical activity
decreases inflammation and pain. Thus, light physical
activity should be part of the treatment of almost all
arthritis patients. Exercise reduces pain and fatigue,
maintain range of motion, and improves joint stability
and muscle mass.
Very Important point
7. Let us see these two simple flow charts for better
understanding: (the choice is yours)
8. Critical discussion
• If you choose the second flow chart. Then the movement of the body simply
distributes synovial fluid on the surface of cartilage, which in turn lubricates
joint surface and thus reduces wear and tear.
• 3 methods for management of arthritis:
1. Drugs
2. Surgical intervention
3. Non-pharmacological intervention
Out of these 3 options to treat arthritis, 3rd one is most appropriate (which
includes yoga). Because it is adaptable, affordable, and free from side effects.
Thus, Non-pharmacological intervention is considered as the best mode of
treatment for arthritis.
9. Continued…
Yoga always promotes holistic life, which is free
from drugs and unites the physical, mental, and
spiritual aspects of human beings. Ideally, yoga with
its components like asana (strength and balance),
pranayama (decreases muscle tension), and
meditation (relaxation and mindfulness) are best
suited for osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid
arthritis (RA).
One major advantage of yoga is that it could be
modified individually and is gentle on joints. Yoga
reduces the level of cortisol. Subsequently, it
reduces stress levels.
