As the water rises,
it absorbs volcanic
gases, that make it
acidic. The acid in
the water attacks
the rock and turns it
into mud. The mud
bubbles out at the
surface, forming a
mudpot

Water
becomes
steam and
mixes with
volcanic gases.
Then it shoots
out of openings
called
fumaroles

8. Geyser
Sometimes, hot
water and steam
are trapped in an
underground
chamber. Pressure
builds up, until the
water and steam
erupt as a geyser.
