This summer field trip is designed for progressing young executives who are
interested in developing a deeper understanding of China, initiating business in
China or improving their current business relationships in the country. Through

Lecture 1: China’s Transformation and Its Potential Implications
Chinese entrepreneurs have been exploring their own way of development for only three generations since
1978. This session will study the new models and innovative strategies that Chinese companies have
adopted in the context of globalization. There will also be in-depth analysis of the Chinese model’s
challenges and limitations, myths and realities, implications for leadership and recent trends, and the
relevant cultural dimensions.

Lecture 2: China’s Financial Markets - Opportunities and Risks
Prof. Ouyang will compare the Chinese Economic development and financial markets with that of the USA to
explain the characteristic of China’s financial markets, opportunities and challenges that it faces. He will also
discuss in detail China’s equity funding and the current status of China’s stock market, funding of innovation
in China and how multinational corporations can leverage the opportunities in China.

Lecture 3: Chinese Business Model Innovation
The speed of technology innovation has changed the rules of game in China. Chinese companies are using
digital media, big data and e-commerce in ways that often lead practices in Europe and the United Sates.
They are turning established business models upside down and in doing so taking the commercial battle to
MNCs. How shall MNCs refine their digital strategies to make the most of China’s e-commerce boom? How
to leverage e-commerce to serve the emerging middle-class and penetrate into many T3 and T4 cities? In this
case, you will have to rethink your established business models and live outside the comfort zone. The
session will discuss Business Model Innovation from internet companies in China and opportunities and
challenges presented to MNCs in China, and how to leverage on the growing opportunities brought up by the
fast growing E-commerce.
