This document provides an overview of the transition process for students entering Year 7 at Forest Hill School in 2020. It discusses how the school will gather information, assign students to houses and tutor groups, conduct interviews and assessments. 4. Special Educational Needs
o SEND/Inclusion Team will attend Annual reviews/TAC
meetings and have contact with parent/carers prior to
transfer
o SENCO conducts admission interviews for SEND students

5. Admission Interviews
o Interviews are conducted over the telephone by a Senior
member of staff/SENCO
o The majority of the interviews will be held over a two week
period:
o w/c Monday 22nd June 2019
o w/c Monday 29th June 2019
o You will be contacted with an appointment nearer the
time.

6. Induction Assessments
o Cognitive Abilities Tests/NFER Reading Test
o Standardised information about each child
o Helps us make sure we are setting ambitious targets for
your son
o Screens whole year group so that support can be directed
where necessary
o All testing will now take place in September

There are four Houses:

10. Pastoral Support
o Pastoral Support is delivered by Year Teams (HOY & Tutors)
o Focussed provision solely for Year 7 students

o Year Team will remain with their year group as they move
through the school

o Boys assigned to a specific House on entry
o House Teams will focus upon:
• building community spirit
• running competitions and events

11. First Day in Year 7
Friday 4 September 2020
o School open from 8-00am
o Arrival by 8.20am for 8-30 start
o Full uniform please
o Boys will either need a packed lunch or you will need to
have set up a ParentPay account
