Galician Poet and Translator Ramón de Campoamor was born in 1914 in Guitiriz, Galicia. He went to school in Guitiriz and later became a teacher, teaching English in private schools. He married Maria Teresa Zubizarreta Bengoechea and they had three children. Campoamor wrote his first poems at a young age and won several poetry awards. He published many poems in magazines and collections. In addition to writing poetry, he also translated works from other languages into Spanish and Galician. Campoamor died in 1990 at the age of 76.
