The Xia dynasty was the first Chinese dynasty, lasting at least 500 years from around 2100 BC. It was established by Yu the Great under the Abdication System. The Xia made contributions including developing the early Chinese calendar system and crafting bronze items with embedded jade for decorative purposes.
