10. KKC SHADOWS

11. The Shadow Program is REQUIRED by all KKC students taking Television Studio Production I.
Each student is required to complete 10 hours of shadow time with our professionals and
counts for 20% of their grade. The Shadow Program is a major component in helping
students interact with the staff at WYCC PBS Chicago. They see first-hand what it takes to pull
off a production and the number of people in collaboration in this effort! It opens up many
eyes and propels students to complete more than just the 10 hours of shadow time required.

assistant and one I learned a lot from. I was an intern right when
the show In The Loop was in its beginning stages and I was able to
be very hands on in the studio. I quickly learned the dynamics of
putting a show together with learning how everyone's roll played a
huge part in a successful show. Every day I was assigned different
tasks, from trying to find a next guest for the show to transcribing
and making sure everything was ready on set for the show.”

Television Production I students along with WYCC
Interns were granted access to a behind-the-scenes
tour of local broadcast television stations and post-
production facilities that opened their doors to
WYCC!
The event was re-launched in the 2014
Summer semester and it was met with great
enthusiasm! The tours helped our students
imagine their place in the larger landscape of
production in Chicago!

took my first position as a news reporter. I have no doubt that had I not
interned at WYCC PBS, I would not have had the skills and experience to obtain
the first job in my career. I am very thankful for the time I spent at WYCC PBS,

to apply and do the same.”
