During a storm, the narrator comforts their younger brother when the power goes out. The next morning, they discover flood waters outside. When they go to find their mother, they see a robber instead. The brothers lock themselves in and devise a plan to trick the robber into falling into a hole, which works. The narrator then introduces themselves.

1. It was late at night my brothers, sisters and I were home alone. There was a storm outside with thunder and lightning. We heard a big CRACK, BOOM and all the lights went out. My little brother Weston started screaming. He threw a pillow at my head, “Are you awake?” I yelled, “yes!” He asked, “Can I get in bed with you?” “ Yes and don’t worry. Everything will be okay.”
