When the word “innovation” comes to mind, the Apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. Apple has got the technology world on the edge of their seat with the gearing up of the launch of the highly anticipated iPhone 6s. The event they hosted earlier this month revealing the official release date also showcased a vast range of advanced goods that are diversifying even further out of Apple’s home territory.
Among the technological tribe, the most popular terms associated with mobile phones are Android and iOS. While the former allows transparency and easy accessibility, the latter has carved a mass for itself, even though it allows strict connectivity. But when it comes to Apple, the loyal customers forget all of its cones and just stick on to the beauty, elegance and the magical iOS that runs like a pure charm.
It was on June 29, 2007, Steve Jobs, the then chairman and co-founder of Apple.Inc launched iPhone with iOS 1. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

3. AT A GLANCE
WWDC 2014 will kick off on June 2 with a keynote
address from Apple CEO Tim Cook at San Francisco.
OS X 10.10 & iOS 8 is the most likely focus of the
event, but there are a number of other possible topics,
including some hardware.
Although a revamped Apple TV and the iWatch are
reportedly not yet ready for unveiling.

with special guest speakers and activities
Inspirational lunchtime sessions with leading minds and influencers from
the world of technology
Apple Design Awards which recognize iPhone, iPad and Mac apps that
demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design
8.
9. iOS8Don’t expect to see another set of sweeping changes to iOS this
year. Instead, iOS 8 should begin to polish up some of iOS 7’s
rough edges while introducing a number of key new features.
10. Smart HomesWhat if your iPhone could unlock your front door, turn your lights on, and
welcome you home with just the right song playing through your living
room speakers? That might just be possible with iOS 8.
11. New Apps
A pair of OS X's built-in apps could be headed to the iPhone. The
image-viewer Preview and the basic writing tool TextEdit may be included
in iOS 8, bringing further parity between the two platforms’ basic apps.
iTunes Radio could get its own app too.
12. SiriNot sure what song you're hearing on the radio? Looking it up may be
easier with iOS 8. Siri will be able to listen to songs and automatically
identify them when asked.
13. Apple Maps
Apple's Map app could see its biggest update ever sometime soon. It
could be delayed until after the operating system’s initial debut —
Apple certainly doesn’t want to release an imperfect app once again.
14. Split-Screen iPad
Apple is said to be developing the ability to run two apps at once
while holding the iPad in landscape. The apps will reportedly
appear side by side, but the feature may be limited to the larger
iPad Air for now.
15. iPhone 6Two bigger iPhones are said to be on the way this year, for late
summer or early fall. Apple is working on iPhone models with around
a 4.7-inch display and around a 5.5-inch display — both far bigger
than the 4-inch iPhone 5S.
16. MacBooks
Apple brings one of its high-resolution Retina displays to the
MacBook Air. Apple is working on a slimmer MacBook Air with a
12-inch Retina display, potentially for later this year.
17. iPadAfter last year's big updates, no one's expecting any huge changes
to Apple's iPads this year, but they could gain one notable
addition: a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
18. iWatchWith all of the health experts it’s been hiring, Apple appears to
have some big plans in store. The latest reports peg the iWatch's
launch as being targeted later this year.
19. Apple TV
Apple will come to even the familiar Apple TV software soon,
including support for Siri and third-party apps, giving the tiny box a
whole lot more potential. Apple remains very interested in television
— and the rest is still to come.
20. Beats
Tim Cook will be taking the stage at WWDC just days after
Apple’s biggest acquisition ever.
