PREWRITE FIND A TOPIC BRAINSTORM ORGANIZE THE INFORMATION WEBS/OUTLINES IDENTIFY AUDIENCE/PURPOSE - Includes finding and narrowing a topic (brainstorming) as well as organizing the information.
DRAFTING This is the stage in which a writer starts the rough draft.  GROUP IDEAS TOGETHER (BODY PARAGRAPHS) CREATE YOUR INTRO./CONCLUSION MAKE SURE  EVERYTHING  “ FLOWS”
REVISING You check over rough draft!  Choose words that are precise, engaging, and powerful.  Add transitions/transitional phrases Arrange ideas in a smooth/logical format Improve sentences- add variety
EDIT/PROOFING - This is the writing stage in which you correct grammar and mechanical errors in writing.  Homophones/Homonyms Subject/Verb Agreement Pronoun/Antecedent Agreement Correct Contractions Double Negatives Punctuation (commas, semicolons, etc.)
PUBLISHING Rewrite your paper so that it is in the best form possible for grading and/or publishing.  Use pen or type the paper No mistakes are visible Your paper is ready to be graded
