This notebook will be sent home every other week to help students work on their writing skills, with each school trimester focusing on a different writing format. Trimester 1 will focus on sentence structure and narrative writing, Trimester 2 on letters, and Trimester 3 on personal narratives about experiences. The notebook provides directions for assignments and parents should help edit by marking words to rewrite, spell correctly, or capitalize as well as adding missing punctuation.

1. Writing Notebook
This notebook will be sent home every other
week for your child to work on writing skills. Each
trimester will have a different focus according to our
standards.
Trimester 1- Sentence Structure
Narrative
Trimester 2- Letter
Trimester 3- Personal Narrative (story about a
personal experience)
**There will be directions for each assignment.
Students will need to work on their handwriting,
punctuation, capitalization, and spelling for each
assignment. Please help your student by circling or
underlining words that need to be rewritten or
spelled correctly. Words that need capitals should
have three lines drawn under the first letter.
Sentences without punctuation should have a circle
at the end for the student to put the punctuation
inside. This is the way we will be editing at school as
well.
