This document provides instructions for students to analyze poems and write an acrostic poem. It includes excerpts from two poems for analysis of theme and structure. Students are asked to identify the theme, dominant features, and character in the second poem. Finally, it defines the rubrics of an acrostic poem as choosing a theme, writing words associated with that theme, and using the letters of the theme vertically to start each line of the poem.
