2 1 Basic Estimating Problem
Your company is installing a new piece of machining equipment and a robotic arm. Your manager
asks for the project costs by cost category as well as the total amount. Given the following
information, develop a base cost estimate by grouping costs by Equipment / Material (items 1 4),
Installation / Labor (items 5 and 6), and Overhead (items 7 9). 1. Two pieces of equipment costing
$ 15,000 and $ 35,000 2. Material required for electrical hook up is 400 feet at $ 25 per foot 3.
Controls for each piece of equipment are estimated at $ 600 each 4. Required start up material is
3,700 pounds at $ 2.70 per pound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How To Keep Running-Personal Narrative
Prologue: I have to keep running. The pain in my body is infuriating but I need to keep running

We seem to be at the advantage because the Hungarians have had to retreat at least twice now
and as we are about to enter our third and hopefully final battle in our homeland of Italy I may
finally be able to return home. But I didn t come to this war alone, my best friend since grade

the time those bullies tried to gang up on me after school and he was the one to come and help

Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society
Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music,
etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an
action that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still
happening today. Although censorshipis an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the
biggest censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects
on a person in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world.
Censorship of music is crucial in today s society for protecting moral values, little children, and
keeping music that has bad influences on others out of society.... Show more content on

Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are
raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States
dates back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing
confederate songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored,
little kids and adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to
is acceptable in today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol,
sex, violence, cursing, and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future
generations to be fine with these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world,
vote for no censorship. Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active
in violence, drugs, alcohol, and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact
our world to continue to roll down hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the
world, our future generations will have no morals, everything will be ok. We will work ourselves
to a Fahrenheit 451 society. Suicide, not doing anything, relying on society to take care of you, and

Software Components Of The Hardware Platform Available Essay
Regardless of the hardware platform available, it is the software that makes the hardware do its
job. The software is the piece of the puzzle that turns the hardware into a powerful system capable
of making ideas for how to apply augmented reality into areas of interest come to fruition. There
are software components that are part of the AR infrastructure that is required regardless of the
application being used, there is software specific to the application, and there is software used to
create the content for applications. This section addresses each of these categories of software.
Augmented Reality in Retail Industry From shopping windows to products that come alive in your
hand, the worlds of augmented reality and retail have collided spectacularly in recent years.
The retail landscape is overcrowded and customers are becoming desensitized to traditional
marketing methods. That s where augmented reality comes in. As shoppers turn to a blend of
online, mobile, and bricks and mortar shopping for their convenience, brands and retailers have to
think of new and innovative ways in which they can capture customer attention.
Augmented reality has the power to bring an image, product label or even shop window to life.
Customers can see brands and their stock in a new way and engage with them on a completely new
level.

Animal rescue organizations can be the perfect place to find your next furry friend. These
organizations are all operate differently, but generally work hard to provide loving, caring homes

animal rescue organizations in your area. The next time you are ready to get a new cator dog,

People don t like to bring family or friends over while they are on vacation just to feed their fish.
I would suggest going to a fish store and picking up items you need a few days before you go on
vacation. You will either need to buy fish feeders or you will need to buy automatic fish feeders
and put fish flakes inside of them. They will turn every day and feed the fish flakes while you
are gone. You need to remember to keep the feeders on the opposite sides of the bubbler or they
will clog with water and the fish feeder will stop working. You will need to take a look at your
fish before you leave for vacation. If you notice that their fins are torn or they have white
speckles on their gills or fins you will need to give them medication for fin rot and ich. Make
sure that your bubbler, filter and heaters are working properly before you leave for vacation. If
your power goes out the filter may kick back on along with everything else. I wouldn t suggest
putting everything on a plug in that can be shut off with a button because your other animals,
dogs and cats, can shut off the power strips and cut off bubblers and filters. You will want to
change the water at least 20 percent before you leave for vacation. You can purchase feeders
which you put in your tank which last up to 2 weeks but I would grab several of them. Put them
in areas away from bubblers so that they don t disperse as fast. The 3 days feeders are usually
gone in one day. Fish can go a few days without eating but you can t leave them alone for weeks
without feeding your fish. You will need to give them quite a bit of food before you leave but
don t give them a lot of excess food because it will make the water cloudy and all the levels in the
fish tank will go up while you are gone. You will need to purchase either fish feeders you place in
the bottom of the tank or automatic fish feeders which spin on the top of the tank. If you buy

Summary Of Entropy By Thomas Pynchon
In Thomas Pynchon s Entropy the American society is through two different extremes through the
narratives of Meatball Mulligan and Callisto to identify the chaos and heat death of the American
society. Through the chaos it is evident that the breakdown of communication is present and how
communication is failing in the American society. The breakdown of communication in this short
story is shown through the communication theory, the chaos that emerges from Mulligan s party,
and the heat death of the universe. This ultimately portrays the rise in the death of the American
society, dehumanization, and self destruction in both Callisto s closed and Mulligan s opened
systems. Meatball s friend Saul that lives on the second floor of the building... Show more content

There are many strangers, such as the George Washington girls, that enter Meatball s apartment
however everyone is separated and talking but not communicating with each other. Pynchon is
trying to show that without communication entropy will take over and in this case the act of
people coming and going is a symbol to that entropy. The uniformity that is created through this
party of people coming for the sole purpose of this party and lacking communication discourages
real communication. Pynchon shows that communication is only there when people try to reach
out to each other to create some sort of understanding however when Meatball tries to
communicate with Duke, Duke insists that Meatball remains quiet (733). When trying to
communicate with each other a sense of individuality and order is expected however through
Meatball s apartment the sense of the American individual lacking communication is present. It
is evident that in Meatball s world the communication has failed as he started to think to himself
about [the] two ways he could cope: (a) lock himself in the closet and maybe eventually they
would all go away, or (b) try to calm everybody down, one by one (735). Meatball did not want to
deal with the chaos that was unfolding and in order to do that he had to take care of each individual
that was there. However the chaos was already present as the people who were at his apartment
were somehow locked in their own worlds like Americans at that time due to the failure of
communication. The failure to communicate is also seen when the jazz group Duke Di Angelis
Quartet thought of their music to themselves when they were going through the motions of a group
having a session, only without instruments (733). The many people that continuously enter and exit
Meatball s party is a symbol of chaos which suggests the heat death and entropy that is unfolding
through this disorganized

Becoming A Store Manager For Big O Tire Essay
In 2007, I was a mortgage originator and after the fall of the mortgage market I decided to make
my way back to the automotive world by becoming a store manager for Big O Tire. I was a store
manager for Evans Tire in the past and I knew that I could generate enough income to support
my family managing a service center again. I have seen a lot of automobiles come through the
service bay doors throughout the years with long overdue vehicle maintenance. One group of
vehicle owners seems to be the worst defenders of them all. The way BMW owners neglect their
prized possession is an incredibly deplorable act. I remembered having to explain to these
narcissistic vehicle owners why they needed to pay extra money for synthetic oil and how
skipping it just this once would not be okay. One gentlemen in particular used to put his dirty
engine air filter in front of his beaming headlights and would love to look to see if the light would
shine through. It passed the test put it back! He used to say every time with such passion. Of
course, he thought he was saving money on frivolous air filters, not thinking of the hidden cost of
his fuel mileage. The majority of Americans have a vast problem with the over consumption of fuel
while over paying at the pump. It s not just buying the correct grade gasolineat the pump that needs
to be addressed, the desire to increase the miles per gallon on the vehicles we drive is also
important. The average American does not seem to make

Naturalistic Observation Of Student s A Coffee Line
Naturalistic Observation of Student s in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85% of adults own
a cell phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr, 2011). Of these adults, 67%
reported that they check their phone even if they do not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the
phone beside their bed, and 29% reported they could not live without their cell phone (Smith,
2012). In addition, according to the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults
check their phone an average of 60 times a day. This study examined cell phone use among
university students that were alone and in a group. Specifically, we were interested in observing
whether students alone in a coffee line or students in a group in a coffee line, spent more or less
time on their cell phone. We were also interested to observe if genderaffected cell phone usage and
whether males or females were more likely to be in a group. The purpose of this study was to
determine if university students that are alone spend more or less time on their phone than students
that are in a group. We also examined if gender was an important factor on whether a student was in
a group or alone. Using naturalistic observation, we calculated the amount of time individual
students were on their phone per three minute time interval. The hypothesiswas that students alone
in a coffee line would spend the most time on their phone. We also predicted that women were
more likely than men to be in a group.

Making Sense Of Creativity And Conceptual Performance
Making sense of Creativity and Conceptual Performance
In this first summary paper I will focus on the article called Looking Inside the Fishbowl of
Creativity: Verbal and Behavioral Predictors of Creative Performance, written by John Ruscio,
Dean M. Whitney, and Teresa M. Amabile.
I will break this summary paper to three headings focused first on the preliminary of the research
based upon educated guesses by the researching authors, second the research conducted to answer
the questions pertaining to creativity and performance, then lastly with heading three, the outcomes
of the experiment.
What can we say before the test?
With any research, there has to be a hypothesis of the outcomes expected. Ruscio, Whitney, and
Amabile questioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, personalities with stronger constitutions tend to adapt with more ease to take in
account more possibilities. Thus, expanding their problem solving repertoire to more substantial
outcomes.
Testing the question 1
The researchers, wanting to answer the question: Is there any correlation of motivation and
creativity so they came up with some tests to prove if their hypothesis was right. They first came
up with a pre test that asked over 151 college students who were volunteers, below the graduate
level questions related to how they formulate ideas pertaining to solving answers to their
everyday lives, along with a short consult. This is a troublesome task in itself because the person,
or persons being tested on their life questions could feel too embarrassed to answer the questions
honestly, and falsify their answer making it harder to formulate their research. Also, by have an
inner dialog a certain type of question can have an effect of the outcome because one has to take in
account of what has been going on during the assessment combining it all together whether the task
was hard, easy, or the participant was just not really interested. Another way that a test questioner
can fail to gather the best information is if the questions are not set up in categories to more
formulate the hypothesis. Asking questions in related areas can easily formulate the answers more
quickly, easily, and can be more succinct. A way to limit this anomaly is to ask the

Morality And The Origins Of Morality
Most of the times Nietzsche understands morality as the set of values typical of the European
society of his days. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes morality and that
genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, it is legitimate to envision for
genealogy a scope for application which goes beyond the particular moralityof 19th century
Germans. Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche European morality represents just one
possible form of morality. Nietzsche himself seems to claim that he is focusing his attacks only
on a specific instance of morality one among possible others. So for example, in the preface to On
the Genealogy of Morals he claims that the object of the book is the value of... Show more content

2 Morals are therefore normative codes according to which we orientate ourselves in the context of
different spheres of life.
Assuming that Schacht s interpretation is correct, I believe that his analysis bear strong
similarities with the view of morality I adopted in the first chapter. On one hand, Schacht s talk
of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding of morality as including
simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on explaining why and how we
should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather seems to include the mores
of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our family of norms is the set of values we
live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including many areas of life
that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. Furthermore, to
understand these mores/ethoi as moral standards or imperatives to which we have to conform is to
understand only a side aspect of them. In fact, more than simply being moral rules directing our
behaviour, these customs constitute our un reflected habits that is, the way in which we
automatically express ourselves in a particular context , often being normative on a very
unconscious level.

The Pros And Cons Of The Intelligence Quotient Test
Internationally, people use the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test in order to determine the level of
intellect one person has. However, all the versions of this test aim to only measure one s cognitive
abilities to assess and comprehend different means of problem solving techniques of general ideas,
such as linguistics and arithmetics. Although these cognitive abilities are what we as humans are
taught in school settings, they are not the only forms of intelligencethat one person can have.
According to a psychologist by the name of Howard Gardner, there are 8 9 different kinds of
intelligence: linguistic, logical mathematical, spatial, musical, body kinesthetic, intrapersonal,

Perhaps the most useful, or more so the only, pro these tests provide us with is the detection of

individuals with intellectual disabilities, who are often assessing using IQ tests, was ruled
unconstitutional. This has meant IQ tests have actually prevented individuals from facing cruel and
unusual punishment in the US court of law (theconversation.com). These tests have allowed judges
and jurors to determine the proper form of punishment for criminals by assessing if they have
harmful intellectual disabilities, making their punishment land them in a psychiatric ward as
opposed to a jail cell. To add to that, these tests also determine whether a child would benefit from
special education services, including those of whom are considered gifted in specific cognitive

World War II. Firstly, the bombing of Pearl Harbor was illustrated as the main reason as to why
America turned on their isolationistic view of World War II. Before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor,
America had an isolationistic approach to World War II. America believed that they had won the
war for England, France and Italy, but were not given back the loans that were used for
reparations. This resulted in the passing of the neutrality act by the US congress August 31, 1935.

Nurse Retention
Do you agree with the identified problem?
Yes, I agree that the there is an issue in regards to orientation process and the relationship it has on
staff retention within our unit.
I believe that a lack of proper orientation can have a tremendous impact of nurse retention rates.
With improper orientation the entire unit suffers. It correlates with a decrease in the quality of care,
patient safety and satisfaction, as well as nurse confidence. Having all staff trained in an extensive
and consistent orientation program brings about better continuity and higher quality of care, as
well as an increase in positive patient outcomes. The lack of an extensive and consistent
orientation program leads to a deficit in critical thinking skills and clinical knowledge. When a
nurse is not fully prepared for her role within a unit, it directly translates into patient care practices.
I believe it also leads to a decrease in staff satisfaction for the new nurse as well as the seasoned
nurses within the unit. This frustration can lead to burnout and ultimately a high turnover rate of
nurses.
Suggestions for improving the problem: A consistent and extensive orientation program for new
nurses.

Greatest Conceivable Being Research Paper
There are many ways to go about justifying a belief in the Greatest Conceivable Being. There are
numerous disputes to argue a theistic position, but there are also many fallacies that people use in
an unjustified way to prove the existence of God. Using strong evidence mainly from the
cosmological argument, the theory that everything happens as a cause of something before it
leading all the way back to a first existence, and the argument of design, stating that the complexity
of nature could only be explained by a sentient designer, a Greatest Conceivable Being must exist.
The cosmological argument discusses the idea that everything is an effect of a cause. Everything
happens due to something else, and all of that had to have begun somewhere at sometime. If you go
back all the way to the beginning of time and the commencement of the universe, something had to
have happened to caused for this to occur. This is what is believed to be the work of a Greatest
Conceivable Being. Everything in the world that exists, exists because something else caused it,
including the world itself. Thomas Aquinas established his own version of this cosmological theory
by saying, whatever is moved must be moved by another...but this cannot go on to infinity, because
there would be no first mover ( The Five Ways ). This theory... Show more content on

been little to no attempts to amend them. I have never encountered a Native American and it made
me realize how scarce their race is at this point in time. This realization made me keen on
researching the discrimination Native Americans have been put through and what people have
been doing to stop it. Through my research, I found that there is quite a large controversy about
whether or not the mass killings of Native Americans were considered Genocide. Native Americans
are still being stripped of their holy lands, such as the Dakota Pipeline, ruining their beautiful
culture and history in the process. Native Americans have been subjected to mistreatment, however
there remains a large population of people that don t think about the inequality they are exposed to.
The injustice being committed needs to be read about in order to understand and improve the
conditions that Native American tribes live in. Upon the arrival of the Europeans, Native
Americans were subjected to mass murder, or as some people refer to it

The History of the U.S. Tax System Essay
The History of the U.S. Tax System The history of the United States tax system is something that
each and every person should understand. There are two main reasons that the history of the tax
system is important. The first reason is that the knowledge of the how the tax system worked will
help the people who are a part of the tax system process to make educated decisions upon future
taxes and things which would affect the taxes. The second reason is that knowing about the history
of the United Statestax system will help the people making tax decision to avoid crucial mistakes
that have occurred in the past. Not only will the decision makers be able to learn from previous

At first it was only separate states which taxed the people but many of the patriotic leaders
pressed for a central government. By 1800, the federal treasury was created and put in charge of
collecting taxes and paying the national debt. Because the American people voted for the taxes
and the central government, they were mostly satisfied with the taxes being charged. In the
period of 1776 1800 taxes on imports were the main taxes imposed upon the American people.
Tariffs were standard throughout the United States and increased only by a small fraction of a
percentage throughout the first thirty years following the revolution. The taxes had actually been
significantly lowered from the previous British taxes before the revolution. The new government
was steadied greatly by the taxes/tariffs upon the goods which were entering into America. The
national debt was decreased by twenty million dollars by 1800 and the national reserve was
increased by about six million dollars. During this time the United States had quickly become one
of the strongest countries in the world ranking just below the superpowers at the time (England,
France, Spain, and Portugal). During the early 1800s the tax system remained virtually untouched
while the government continued paying off debt. During the War of 1812 however, Congress
passed sales taxes for items such as liquor and sugar to help with the war effort. These sales taxes
were able to be done away with

Examples Of Gods And Myths Of Northern Europe
Gods and Myths of Northern Europe , by Hilda R.E. Davidson.
Gods and Myths of Northern Europe tries to explain the richness of the myths from Northern
Europe. It tries to show us how their gods and goddesses, the Norsemen, and the Germanic people
before them, were related. I don t share all of her conclusions, but I think that this book is an
interesting and valuable read to everyone interested in learning about this wonderful world and
their people. I think that the best way to learn about the ones that were living in that times is to
know their myths and their relationship to their gods and goddesses. Reading this could help you

She makes a brief account about what is said in the myths and what physical evidences (like
names of places, offerings and other stuff) we have to know Bragi, his wife Idunn, Mimir,

For some of them, we have very little evidence but the name and some kind of attributions; some

In the eight chapter, The Beginning and the End , we find a presentation of the myths related with
the creation and the destruction of the worlds, and a little study about the World Tree and its

Jeffery Rosen s The Supreme Court
Jeffery Rosen s novel, The Supreme Court: The Personalities and Rivalries that Defined America
follows the history of the Supreme Court of the United States through both personal and
philosophical rivalries that shaped the transformation of laws and our lives. Rosen shows us the
rivalries between justices and their ideologies and how their ideologies have shaped our laws
today. Starting in 1952 with President Harry S Truman and ending fifty four years later with the

Throughout the book, Rosen analyzes specific traits of judges such as political parties and
appointment reason and so on. Rosen uses direct quotes from the judges to identify how judges
have to lean away from certain beliefs and lean towards other beliefs for the sake of keeping the
country free and under control. In each section, Rosen compares two justices and obviously favors
one over the other. But, as the author, he does recognize the flaws in his view, and the pros in the
opposite view. Rosen clearly favors justices who promote harmony in the court and create rulings
with unanimous decisions. But, Rosen will always comment on something positive about a judge
he does not favor, and will comment on something negative on the justice he does favor, balancing
himself out. Another key factor that informs the reader about how the law came about to be how it
is today is by judicial temperament. Rosen uses this as a key point while comparing the justices.
Judicial Temperament describes the judge s general attitude towards the law, and other judges. He
states, If the pairings of judicial temperaments in this book suggest anything, it is that courting
attention and partisan approval in the short term is no guarantee of judicial respect in the long term
(Rosen). This means that while comparing and contrasting temperaments that whenever something

How Did Julius Caesar Change
Augustus became Rome s first emperor after Rome changed from republic to empire after Julius
Caesar assassination. Julius Caesar is Augustus great uncle and adopted father. He shrewdly
combined military might, institution building and lawmaking to become Rome s sole ruler, laying
the foundations of the 200 year Pax Romana (Roman Peace) and an empire that lasted, in various
forms, for nearly 1,500 years (History.com).
He was born in 63 B.C. and even his adoption he was known as Octavian. At the age of 16
Octavius donned the toga because it was the Roman sign of manhood and was taking on
responsibilities through his family connections (History.com). Octavius went to modern day Spain
to fight alongside Caesar even though his shipwrecked, so he had to cross enemy territory to get

Linda Boreman s Experience With The Pornographic Film
Lovelace is a biographical drama chronicling Linda Boreman s experience with the pornographic
film industry from the age of 20 to the age of 32. In the 1970 s, Linda (played by Amanda
Seyfried) meets Chuck Traynor (played by Peter Sarsgaard), and falls in love. Short on money,
Chuck coerces Linda into prostitution and the pornographic film industry. Spending only
seventeen days in the porn industry, Linda becomes the star of one of the most well known
pornographic films in western history, Deep Throat, and receives the stage name of Linda
Lovelace, all while enduring abuse from her manipulative husband. The themes such as sexual
coercion, sex for sale, and gnder roles, are expressed throughout the film. The sexual coercion of
Linda Boreman by Chuck Traynor is what set in motion the events of Linda s ordeal. Until the
end of Linda and Chuck s marriage, Linda was forced into preforming sexual acts on Chuck
Traynor through implied threats as well as physical abuse, thus experiencing acquaintance rape.
Chuck s person being one who conform to traditional gender roles, particularly one of male
dominance, is what Our Sexuality infers from research done by Hartwick et al., 2005, as more
likely to commit rape. However, during the time of Linda s experiences, it was culturally accepted
that wives obeyed their husbands.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Breaking Bad Is Created By Vince Gilligan Essay
In this essay, I will analyse the TV show, Breaking Bad which is created by Vince Gilligan, in
relation to the theory of narrative. I will be basing this essay on the first episode of Breaking Bad
and also the TV show as a whole. We will learn to what extent Breaking Bad reflects conventional
narrative structure. First the essay will identify what conventional narrativestructure is. I will then
analyse how Breaking Bad reflects the different parts that make up narrative structure, including, the
three act structure and characterroles. I will then determine what is different about Breaking Bad
and what parts of it do not conform to conventional narrative structure. I will be discovering how
the use of conventional narrative structure effects how the audience views the text.
Narrative structure is about both the content of a story, and how the story is told by using plot.
There are different things that made up the narrative structure of a text. These include, the three act
structure and the roles of the characters. The three act structure is a model that is used in
screenwriting to divide a narrative into different parts (Cod.edu, 2015). The first act of a three act
structure is called setup. This is where setting, character, and their situations are introduced to the
audience. The second act is when something big happens so that there are major changes in the
characters life. Act three is when the problems and changes in the characters life are resolved

For the purpose of this essay, I will be evaluating the factors that influenced the result of the 2010
UK general election. The general election was held on Thursday 6th May 2010 and was the first
election since 1974 to result in a hung parliament, as no party achieved the 326 seats needed to for
an overall majority.
The three main parties were the Conservatives, whose party leader was and still is David

leader was and still is Nick Clegg. The party with the highest share of seats were the
Conservatives, who achieved 307 seats out of a possible 650. The party with ... Show more content

Research by Whiteley and Seyd (2002) backs up this claim as they note that the decline in party
membership and party activism has been documented by grass roots party members in the UK
for over ten years. Whiteley (2006) further supports this claim as he notes that there has been a
weakening of partisan attachments within the electorate, and that over time there has been a
long term decline towards party identification. He goes on to note that in 1964, when surveys
first started to be used, almost 50% of the electorate had strong party identification towards a
particular political party, but by 2001 this had reduced to only 13% of the electorate. He
concluded by saying that although party identification had clearly declined over the years, the
majority of voters still have some form of partisan attachments, although clearly a lot weaker than
it once was. Meaning voters can now be more easily persuaded to switch parties. Research by
Budge, Newton, McKay and Bartle (1998) also show that there has been a decline in party
identification. They state that between the years 1945 to 1970, 44.8% of the electorate described
themselves as being Conservative, 46.8% as Labour, 7.1% as Liberal Democrats and only 1.3%
identified themselves as having attachments with other smaller parties. However, in 2005

Sainsbury Mergers
Mergers and acquisition in the retail industry According to Froud (1999) in grocery retail
customers real expenditure on food in UK has been stable around 32 to 34 billion pounds a year
since 1960 and hence the major retailers were able to achieve growth on the expense of other
smaller retailers. Therefore retailers may pursuit mergers and acquisitions as a mean for growth.
One of the main mergers in the retail industry is the merger of Carrefour and Promodes in France
to create the world s second largest retailer after Wal mart. One of the main reasons for this merger
is that both companies find it difficult to grow organically. Nevertheless the need for growth is not
only to boost their financial performance but also to create a major force to fight Wal mart, which
entered the German market and later acquired Asda a major retailer in the UK s market (The
Economist, 1999). Through this Merger Carrefour created instant growth and positive impact on its
shareholder value.

eye cannot detect, so the result in form of light appears constant and hence offering connectivity.
More sophistication in the transmission techniques can further maximize the transfer of data
rate through VLC. Till now this technique was implemented through white LED bulbs only but
groups at the University of Oxford and the University of Edinburgh are focusing on parallel data
transmission by the use of multiple LEDs or array of LEDs, where each LED allows a different
stream of data. Mixtures of red, blue, green LEDs are also used by some teams to encode
different data channels by varying the light frequencies. In simple words we can consider it to
be a light based Wi Fi which has achieved high speed in the labs at Heinrich Hertz institute in
Berlin, Germany of around 500 megabytes per second by the use of a standard white light LED.
So quiet obviously, modems would be replaced by transceiver incorporated LED lamps which can

use of a part of an electromagnetic spectrum and was demonstrated at 2012 consumer electronics
show in Los Vegas where a pair of Cisco smartphone was used to transfer data using light of varying
intensity from screens. This technique is put into effect by using a light bulb at the downlink
transmitter. Normally the light bulb lightens up at a uniform current supply however the variations

We expect it to be on the dispenser in our bathrooms, and we hope that it is in the stalls of public
restrooms. When we run out of toilet paper we find ourselves in quite the predicament. Is this
not reason enough to appreciate and respect toilet paper? In the average home one roll of toilet
paper is suggested to last up to five days. The average consumers use eight to nine sheets per
bathroom visit. Each person in America uses an average of 57 sheets of toilet paper per day.
Toilet paper comes in four by five square sheets, and the average household will use one hundred
rolls of toilet paper a year. Toilet paper is such a valued commodity that over seven percent of
Americans steal rolls from hotels, motels, and public restrooms (toilet paper history).
The white, soft, plush, double quilted toilet paper we appreciate today is not what our ancestors
used years ago. History has indicated that Wealthy Romans utilized wool and rosewater, while the
less fortunate were forced to use hay balls, a scraper/Gompf stick (long curved handle with a
sponge on its end), corncobs, mussel shells, coconut shells, leaves, and any other miscellaneous
items within reach. Individuals were also known to use rivers, streams, and lakes to clean
themselves, leading to contamination and diseases infecting the water that people use for daily

The Rocking Horse Winner By D. H. Lawrence
In The Rocking Horse Winner, D. H. Lawrence divulges into the exploration of how greed and
social status can affect individuals and to those who are significant to them. A social statue to an
individual signifies their interpretation of where they belong in society. It may vary between
politics, influence on the community, wealth, and even power. If looked from a broad
perspective, what they all have in common is the greed to have more, similar to the mother who
supposedly married for love. Greed can be both positive and negative, but it all depends on its
usage whether its for the benefit of everyone or just for themselves.
The narrative begins off with a background on the mother who supposedly had everything a woman
could have in the early 1900 s. She had started with all [of] the advantages, a beautiful appearance, a
handsome husband, three children, a pleasant house with a garden and servants, almost making this
family feel superior above everyone else (150). Everyone had praised the mother saying how she
adores her children, when in reality both the mother and children knew that was not true. The
children looked at the mother with distaste, almost as if they were finding faults with her
personality (150). By creating an atmosphere of tension between the family members, Lawrence s
tone towards the mother creates a sense of foreshadowing that will involve herself and the
children. The children did not like their own mother for it was as if they knew this would

What Is The Character Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In the poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Morgan le Fay only appears in the last two FITTs
and there is only a little description about her. However, she is actually the initiator of the whole
story: it was Morgan who sent Green Knight to Arthur s hall to put pride on trial and to test what
distinction and trust the Round Table deserves (2455 2458), and then Sir Agway s adventure
began. As we know, Morgan was always described as an antagonist to Arthur in the legends of King
Arthur. However, when Morgan tried to combat against Arthur, why did she choose to test him?
What was Morgan s purpose to test the knighthood spirit of the Round Table?
This key character, Morgan le Fay, was not fully developed in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, but
we can still feel her envy, which was one of her possible motivations to set the test. Initially,
Morgan appeared as an ancient elder living in Hautdesert. She sat highest at the table with the lord
and was called as Morgan the Goddess by Bertilak. Obviously, Morgan enjoyed a high position in
the court. However, in spite of the marvelousness of the castle and her status, the court was located
in the deep woods and no one knew them, just as desert in its name Hautdesert might suggest. In
contrast, Court of Arthur was famous; not only they had the morality, but the Round Table was also
admired as an example of chivalry. Therefore, jealousy rose in Morgan s heart, and the target was
the knights and their reputation.

Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care
information management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and
healthcare providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has
forced medical records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also
progress to rise above competency in information management. According to the Technology
Informatics Guiding Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics
prepared nurses includes management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration,
informatics design and technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of
nursing informatics lies in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public
health information (PHI), curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical
record (EMR), and online continuing education.
Informatics in the Workplace
One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is
through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the
workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in
the ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields,

Neji, Tenten, Shino, you three must head to the Land of Summer. There seems to be trouble and
we must put an end to any disturbance that could lead to danger. Tsunade, the fifth Hokage said.
Neji, you will be team leader.
Yes, my lady. Neji said politely.
This mission was sent to us by the Hikage, the Sun Shadow, greet him as if he were any other kage.
Does the Sun even have a shadow? Tenten asked.
The three headed out, swiftly moving through the forest as smoothly as the fish glide through rivers.
What is the Land of Summer anyways? Isn t summer just a season? Tenten questioned.
I m not sure, I suppose we ll find out. Neji answered.
I hear it is the land where the sun shines brightly everyday. Shino added.
Wow! Wouldn t that be beautiful! Tenten exclaimed.

Why did the U.S. use the atomic bomb?
The years leading up to World War II and the dropping of the atomic bombs were hectic and
disordered, from the rise of Hitler in 1933, U.S. isolationism in 1934, to the death of U.S.
President Roosevelt. The war showed no signs of ending and the security and freedom of nations
around the world were in danger. Order was nowhere to be found, and the decision to even consider
using the atomic bomb was unpreventable. The U.S. used the atomic bomb because it was the
only way Japan would surrender, the world wanted to end the war as soon as possible with as little
casualties as possible, and because of resentful feelings toward Japan.

It is debated however whether Japan would have surrendered without the catastrophic aid of the
bombs. There were numerous attacks that would have eventually prompted Japan to give in. Any
sane government would have surrendered after Iwo Jima, a deadly battle where 27,000 Japanese
fought against 70,000 U.S marines...an inevitable loss for Japan.
Nonetheless, the power of the bomb had convinced the world of its horror it even amazed its
inventors. The surrender of Japan was not the only thing that compelled the use of the bombs.
President Truman knew that they would have eventually given in, but he had them dropped
anyway as a way of scaring the Communist Soviet Union into peaceful post war behavior
(Collier, 81). The bomb impressed them and stopped them from asking for joint occupation of
Japan. This was a major feat because that is the major reason why Russia joined the war hastily in
1945 in the first place. They sensed a victory for the U.S and perhaps the spoils of war for
themselves.
The Allies agreed to conditional surrender in order to save the lives of thousands of Japanese and
Americans. More people would have died if Japan were invaded than dropping the bomb at
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Government and military officials knew that attacking on the Japanese
mainland would be gruesome because of relentless willpower to win. Kamikaze planes, planes

Analysis Of The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
The Peculiar Ageing of Benjamin Button For what it s worth: it s never too late or, in my case,
too early to be whoever you want to be. There s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can
change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it.
I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things
you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life
you re proud of. If you find that you re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again. ―

Since this symbol sets at the beginning, it serves as a guideline and introduction of the whole
story so that the audiences are more aware of in which way the story will be told and how to
understand the story. This event by adding symbols also adds more favors as well as provides
foreshadowing: it adds meanings of repenting guilt, wars, family issues and remorse, all of
which happened later in the story. Another Symbolic reference of time going backwards is the
humming bird. In the film there is two parts where a hummingbird, the only bird that is capable
of flying backwards. Seen at the time where Benjamin was at sea and at war with his crew
members and they died tragically, and at the end where the bird showed up at the window seal
of Daisy s hospital room when she dies. This bird symbolizes the presents of those who past.
However, the process of death contains double meanings in this particular story: one is that the
one goes from young to old like Daisy; the other is from the old to young like Benjamin. The
film indicates that the hummingbird is the symbol of infinity since it always draws the gesture of
8 ; it suggests that death does not bring the end to the story but opens up a new start, just like
Benjamin dies as a baby but his death signifies newness in life. Benjamin says: I d never seen a
hummingbird that far out to sea, before or since. (Fincher 2008) It creates

Francis Bacon s The Birthmark And Rappaccini s Daughter
Francis Bacon states in New Organon that scientists are given divine honors and scientists have
bigger effects on the human race than founders of cities, legislators and kings. Bacon paints a very
positive pictures of science and states that scientists have very positive effects on society. Many
writers in the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century wrote works of fiction in
contradiction to what Bacon believed. Many short stories tried to predict what the future of science
might hold and tried to warn readers against the dangers of science. One such writer is Nathaniel
Hawthorne, Hawthorne uses his stories to warn readers about the dangers of science. Heidegger s
Experiment, The Birthmark and Rappaccini s daughter, all have very tragic endings that can be
traced back to science experiments. All three stories focus on very intelligent and driven scientist
who try to achieve their goals at any cost. Hawthorne uses these stories as a way to contradict
Bacon s view and to state his views on science and give readers a better understanding of the
capabilities of science. Hawthorne s short stories contradict Bacon and give accurate critique of
modern science as they show the dangers of science and discusses getting obsessed with science
and losing morale, the problems of trying to battle with nature and the productive and destructive
powers of science. Hawthorne s short story Rappaccini s daughter focuses on Dr. Rappaccini, a
scientist and researcher interested

The For The Future Liabilities
In general insurance, Insurers make use of data gathered previously out of experience in order to
predict the future liabilities. Such an estimate is made through the help of a loss function in
decision making, as well as mathematical optimization. It is a common tendency to minimize the
loss of the risk models and hence to do so are different methods applicable in today s statistics.
Frequentist expected loss, Bayesian expected loss are mostly used; with Bayesian statistics being
the increasingly common methodology in actuarial science. Insurers also make an estimate of the
expected claims that arise in the future years, and so they need to hold reserves based on the
aggregate claim amount they could face in the near future. Hence one way of doing this is by using
the aggregate claim model. Therefore, examining and comparing the different forms of loss
distribution that could be used in the aggregate risk model analysis, besides investigating about
issues surrounding the application of Bayesian statistics in such a context. Acknowledgement: I
would like to acknowledge my mentor Ms. Preeti Sahay, to have stood as a support for me
throughout the project and in providing sufficient information for the project. Introduction:
Insurance by nature is an uncertain subject. The Insured events occur at random times, particularly
in a general insurance field, thereby the amount of claims are also random. Based on the future

Pigment, skin tone, gradient, race, and ethnicity. These characteristics unite and divide humans
from all walks of life all around the world. While many countries and cultures throughout the world
try to downplay the role of superficial conclusions based on perceived ethnicity, usually based on
skin tone, it is difficult because for many cultures, skin tone and its implications are as much a part
of reality as any other cultural moniker. The Dominican Republic is one of these countries. Since
colonial times, skin tone has played a larger role than just signifying what part of the world one
hails from; in the DR, skin tone is even more important than money and privilege as an indicator
of one s apparent class. This bias and self hatred revolving around skin tone is apparent in the
characters of Oscar and BelГ in Junot Diaz s The Brief and Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao, which
serves as a great example of just how engrained skin tone politics are for Dominicans, even for the
traditionally non marginalized upper class and those who leave the confines of Hispaniola. Before
diving into the effects of the racism and prejudice brought about by the Dominican Republics
deeply held bias, it is important to understand the origin. Santo Domingo, in present day Dominican
Republic, is the oldest European settlement in the Western Hemisphere. The island of Hispaniola
(then EspaГ±ola) was discovered by Christopher

The system will automate many of the manual procedures that are being used by management, front

hotel management and staff.
Hotel Management System Overview
The following level one data flow diagram characterizes the types of inputs and outputs and the
interactions that the staff may expect from the hotel reservation system.

The front desk will have access to create, delete, edit current bills, and registration forms of
customers. Also take and post messages for customers. The kitchen staff will have access to edit
room service order forms, special requirements and will be able to have read access to menus.
Data Structures amp; Algorithms
Our decision to implement the Hotel Management system using standard PC technology and a
commercial database product has narrowed our choices of implementation algorithms and data
structures. We have chosen to implement this system with a PC database program (Access) that
uses a relational data model. Basically what this means is that related data is grouped together in
what can be logically viewed as a columnar table of records. Each record within a particular table
is composed of a number of fields that hold the relevant information. Each record can be
uniquely described by on or more fields in the record. These fields are refered to as the records
primary key. Information is retrieved from the table by specifying the records primary key. The
entire system is made up on a number of tables, each of which can be thought of as describing one
logical entity. For example a custmomer is represented by a table that has field entries
corresponding to the customers name, address and so on. Information about each customer is
retrieved by specifying the customers name which is the primary key for the customer table.

organization, and same applies to my classroom on basis of race, religion and nationality. People
of same race go along with each other very easily as they are familiar about themselves and

As the time passes, the team is going to reach the third level which would be norming stage, where
team is going to establish consensus forms around group objectives. In this stage all team members
from different background will be cooperative among themselves and build up trust among
themselves. Once team members becomes acquainted to each other then they will reach final stage
of team development i.e. adjourning stage. In this stage team will disband, where team will divert
their attention from task orientation to relationship focus.

reasons which could be affecting Denver office for not having those norms are that they don t

The Best Cost Effective Stormwater Management
The easiest and most cost effective stormwater management has already been happening here in
the metro area, which is rain barrels and rain cisterns. The Polk Soil and Water Conservation
District, has fully indorsed the rain barrels and provides forms to order the rain barrels. They are
the easiest and most cost efficient way for property owners to divert their stormwaterrunoff.
The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon (usually)
barrel that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use, such as watering plants.
While Cisterns are normally an underground container or tank with a larger storage capacity than a
rain barrel, and that is used to supplement greywater needs (i.e. ... Show more content on

This does make cisterns more expensive, however, these cost would allow the house to use less
water, and would be able to pull in thousands of gallons of water away from the stormwater sewers.
In Chicago in 2009, there were over 2,220 rain barrels/downspout disconnections. This the
calculated would lead to over 8,281,000 gallons of stormwater were diverted from combined system
annually. This means that the city of Chicago was able to use these very simple and inexpensive
stormwater mitigation methods to greatly reduce the amount of stormwater that the city was
producing. Rain barrels and cisterns are a stormwater prevention system that the property owners in
the metro can and already have started to incorporate into their properties.
Green Roofs are primarily installed to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff and to protect water
quality. There are two main types of green roofs based on the plant material, extensive or intensive.
Extensive green roofs are characterized by lower weight, lower installation cost, lower plant
diversity, and minimal maintenance. Intensive green roofs are characterized by deeper soil and
greater weight, higher installation costs, increased plant diversity, and greater maintenance,
however, they are accessible to the public and provide green space for activities in an urban setting.
Green roofs provide many benefits for the urban landscape. They help reduce noise that is created
in the cities, filter out air pollutants

This ratio makes Lake Winnipeg more susceptible to excessive nutrient levels, leading to massive
algal blooms and lake wide eutrophication. Nutrient entry points include the Winnipeg River from
the east, The Saskatchewan River from the west, the Red River from the south, and precipitation.
The largest source of total phosphorus (68% total phosphorus load) and nitrogen (34% total
nitrogen load) to Lake Winnipeg is the Red River, followed by the Winnipeg River as second
largest. Approximately 60% of phosphorus and 54% of nitrogen that enters the lake through these
tributaries and precipitation is retained. The only major outflow point is the Nelson River from the
northeast. The Nelson River allows approximately 2500 tonnes of phosphorus to flow out of the
lake, and has been used for electric power generation since 1976 (LWF, 2011). Elevated nutrient
concentrations at the southern end of Lake Winnipeg are most likely a result of the nutrient rich
inflow of the Red River, with phosphorus concentrations being almost three times higher in the

Charity
Charity Among the key concepts of love touched upon by C.S. Lewis in his novel The Four
Loves, is his concept of charity. Charity is a type of love that involves showing care for someone
that is not easily loved, while doing it in a selfless manner with no gain for the caregiver. From
the story of creation in Genesis we are told that mankind is made in God s image. Through the
act of God sacrificing His son Jesus for our iniquity, we see that he is charitable. Therefore,
transitively, mankind is created naturally for charity. This is important to note because it shows
that regardless of belief in God, anyone can be charitable. Our understanding of charity can be
wrapped up nicely by Lewis on pages 128 and 129 of his book by the... Show more content on

The lieutenant, though unknowingly, offers money to the whiskey priest because he had no
money to his name. This shows us an important fact that even people who are not close to God
have the natural ability to show charity towards people: He put his hand suddenly in his pocket
and pulled out a five peso piece. There, he said. Get out of here, and don t let me see your face
again, Mind that. (P amp;G, 140) An even more profound moment of charity with the lieutenant
comes later when he actually gets to know the whiskey priest personally. He talks about how if a
person was in deep pain or suffering he would do him a favor by shooting him and ending his
misery. This moment doesn t even seem charitable until later when the whiskey priest is
executed. After being shot by the firing squad, the lieutenant shoots him in the head so he doesn
t die a slow painful death: ...if he was in pain, with cancer, I d put a bullet through his head. (P
amp;G, Page 200) Then there was a single shot, and opening them again he saw the officer
stuffing his gun back into his holster. (P amp;G, 216) During the point of the whiskey priest s
execution we get to see one more person start to form charitable thoughts. Mr. Tench looks out the
window and sees that he recognizes the whiskey priest as the same man who left his house in order

The Utah And Minnesota Incident Reporting
Preventable health care errors contribute to at least 44,000 deaths per year, increasing the cost of
health care and limiting public trust. The Adverse Health Event Law passed in 2003 requires
disclosure and examination of specific unfavorable events with corrective action plans with some
aspects shared publically in order to educate consumers about healthcare facilities issues and
improvements (MDH 2015).
Review of the Utah and Minnesota Incident reporting mandates provided various state statutes and
reporting responsibilities to the state s government and regulatory agencies. Reports of adverse
events must be reported in various methods among states. For example, Utah and Minnesota require
each individual facility, hospital, outpatient centers, and clinics, to report the adverse events that
occur at the particular facility. Specifically, in Minnesota if the Boards that regulate physicians,
nurses, podiatrist, physician assistants, and/or pharmacists are aware of an adverse event, the
specific board holds the responsibility to report the events to the Minnesota Department of Health.
Adverse events consist of defined elements within states in the categories of surgical, product or
device, patient protection, case management, environmental, and potential criminal events,
essentially providing events that produce irreversible patient harm. However, differences among
these two states exist as Utah provides more specific descriptions in the case management events

9.Scarecrows For, the time has come, when the gaunt scarecrows of that region should have
watched the lamplighter, in their idleness and hunger(Dickens 29) The scarecrows are
symbolizing all of the lower class people. This can be assumed because the scarecrows are
described as gaunt and raggedy . By definition, gaunt means lean or haggard, because of
suffering or hunger. This can also apply to all of the lower class people, because chances are if
you don t have money, you won t be able to eat food as abundantly as a person of more wealth
would. Another piece of evidence to support this claim would be how the scarecrows watched the

unable to fly, and were set upon them to strip them of their feathers for your own advantage, you

symbolizing the wealthy people in A Tale of Two Cities. You can see this because once the
French Revolution starts, people of lower class would try to overthrow the people of higher
power so that everyone would have equal rights. So by describing how they would set upon the

power and authority. Then once the highest people of authority are done with they will go after

The Bolshevik Economic Policy During The Civil War
HOW SIGNIFICANT WAS BOLSHEVIK ECONOMIC POLICY DURING THE RUSSIAN
CIVIL WAR FOR THE SOVIET UNION?
The Bolshevik Economic Policy during the Civil War was significant for the Soviet Union as it
helped to win the war and was the first implementation of Communist ideology anywhere. In
addition, it affected many people, led to the Tambov Revolt and the Kronstadt Mutiny and had long
term political consequences. The Bolsheviks aim was to dismantle the outdated structure of Tsarist
regime and create a new economic system beneficial to all by introducing first Trotsky s War
Communism and subsequently the New Economic Policy [NEP]. As historians we measure
significance by the consequences of an event. Therefore, this essay will argue that the Bolshevik
Economic Policy s main significance was that it represented a major turning point in the running of
the country, that the introduction of War Communism led to success in the Civil War, and that its
subsequent failure led to the NEP with its own consequences for the Soviet Union.
War Communism, the measures introduced to gear the economy for the war effort and the first
part of the Bolshevik Economic Policy, represented a turning point for the Soviet Union because it
helped the Red Army to win the Civil War; in addition it was the first implementation of
Communism anywhere, therefore this was the most significant effect. To defeat the White Army
Trotsky developed ways to keep his army well supplied and battle ready. Food was

  • 4. Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an action that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still happening today. Although censorshipis an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the biggest censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects on a person in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world. Censorship of music is crucial in today s society for protecting moral values, little children, and keeping music that has bad influences on others out of society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States dates back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing confederate songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored, little kids and adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to is acceptable in today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, cursing, and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future generations to be fine with these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world, vote for no censorship. Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active in violence, drugs, alcohol, and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact our world to continue to roll down hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the world, our future generations will have no morals, everything will be ok. We will work ourselves to a Fahrenheit 451 society. Suicide, not doing anything, relying on society to take care of you, and sitting on butts all day doing absolutely ... • 5. Software Components Of The Hardware Platform Available Essay Regardless of the hardware platform available, it is the software that makes the hardware do its job. The software is the piece of the puzzle that turns the hardware into a powerful system capable of making ideas for how to apply augmented reality into areas of interest come to fruition. There are software components that are part of the AR infrastructure that is required regardless of the application being used, there is software specific to the application, and there is software used to create the content for applications. This section addresses each of these categories of software. Augmented Reality in Retail Industry From shopping windows to products that come alive in your hand, the worlds of augmented reality and retail have collided spectacularly in recent years. The retail landscape is overcrowded and customers are becoming desensitized to traditional marketing methods. That s where augmented reality comes in. As shoppers turn to a blend of online, mobile, and bricks and mortar shopping for their convenience, brands and retailers have to think of new and innovative ways in which they can capture customer attention. Augmented reality has the power to bring an image, product label or even shop window to life. Customers can see brands and their stock in a new way and engage with them on a completely new level. 1.Ikea AR Catalogue In the summer of 2013, IKEA launched their augmented reality catalogue to enable shoppers to visualize how certain pieces of furniture ... I would suggest going to a fish store and picking up items you need a few days before you go on vacation. You will either need to buy fish feeders or you will need to buy automatic fish feeders and put fish flakes inside of them. They will turn every day and feed the fish flakes while you are gone. You need to remember to keep the feeders on the opposite sides of the bubbler or they will clog with water and the fish feeder will stop working. You will need to take a look at your fish before you leave for vacation. If you notice that their fins are torn or they have white speckles on their gills or fins you will need to give them medication for fin rot and ich. Make sure that your bubbler, filter and heaters are working properly before you leave for vacation. If your power goes out the filter may kick back on along with everything else. I wouldn t suggest putting everything on a plug in that can be shut off with a button because your other animals, dogs and cats, can shut off the power strips and cut off bubblers and filters. You will want to change the water at least 20 percent before you leave for vacation. You can purchase feeders which you put in your tank which last up to 2 weeks but I would grab several of them. Put them in areas away from bubblers so that they don t disperse as fast. The 3 days feeders are usually gone in one day. Fish can go a few days without eating but you can t leave them alone for weeks without feeding your fish. You will need to give them quite a bit of food before you leave but don t give them a lot of excess food because it will make the water cloudy and all the levels in the fish tank will go up while you are gone. You will need to purchase either fish feeders you place in the bottom of the tank or automatic fish feeders which spin on the top of the tank. If you buy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Summary Of Entropy By Thomas Pynchon In Thomas Pynchon s Entropy the American society is through two different extremes through the narratives of Meatball Mulligan and Callisto to identify the chaos and heat death of the American society. Through the chaos it is evident that the breakdown of communication is present and how communication is failing in the American society. The breakdown of communication in this short story is shown through the communication theory, the chaos that emerges from Mulligan s party, and the heat death of the universe. This ultimately portrays the rise in the death of the American society, dehumanization, and self destruction in both Callisto s closed and Mulligan s opened systems. There are many strangers, such as the George Washington girls, that enter Meatball s apartment however everyone is separated and talking but not communicating with each other. Pynchon is trying to show that without communication entropy will take over and in this case the act of people coming and going is a symbol to that entropy. The uniformity that is created through this party of people coming for the sole purpose of this party and lacking communication discourages real communication. Pynchon shows that communication is only there when people try to reach out to each other to create some sort of understanding however when Meatball tries to communicate with Duke, Duke insists that Meatball remains quiet (733). When trying to communicate with each other a sense of individuality and order is expected however through Meatball s apartment the sense of the American individual lacking communication is present. It is evident that in Meatball s world the communication has failed as he started to think to himself about [the] two ways he could cope: (a) lock himself in the closet and maybe eventually they would all go away, or (b) try to calm everybody down, one by one (735). Meatball did not want to deal with the chaos that was unfolding and in order to do that he had to take care of each individual that was there. However the chaos was already present as the people who were at his apartment were somehow locked in their own worlds like Americans at that time due to the failure of communication. The failure to communicate is also seen when the jazz group Duke Di Angelis Quartet thought of their music to themselves when they were going through the motions of a group having a session, only without instruments (733). The many people that continuously enter and exit Meatball s party is a symbol of chaos which suggests the heat death and entropy that is unfolding through this disorganized ... • 9. Becoming A Store Manager For Big O Tire Essay In 2007, I was a mortgage originator and after the fall of the mortgage market I decided to make my way back to the automotive world by becoming a store manager for Big O Tire. I was a store manager for Evans Tire in the past and I knew that I could generate enough income to support my family managing a service center again. I have seen a lot of automobiles come through the service bay doors throughout the years with long overdue vehicle maintenance. One group of vehicle owners seems to be the worst defenders of them all. The way BMW owners neglect their prized possession is an incredibly deplorable act. I remembered having to explain to these narcissistic vehicle owners why they needed to pay extra money for synthetic oil and how skipping it just this once would not be okay. One gentlemen in particular used to put his dirty engine air filter in front of his beaming headlights and would love to look to see if the light would shine through. It passed the test put it back! He used to say every time with such passion. Of course, he thought he was saving money on frivolous air filters, not thinking of the hidden cost of his fuel mileage. The majority of Americans have a vast problem with the over consumption of fuel while over paying at the pump. It s not just buying the correct grade gasolineat the pump that needs to be addressed, the desire to increase the miles per gallon on the vehicles we drive is also important. Naturalistic Observation Of Student s A Coffee Line Naturalistic Observation of Student s in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85% of adults own a cell phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr, 2011). Of these adults, 67% reported that they check their phone even if they do not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the phone beside their bed, and 29% reported they could not live without their cell phone (Smith, 2012). In addition, according to the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults check their phone an average of 60 times a day. This study examined cell phone use among university students that were alone and in a group. Specifically, we were interested in observing whether students alone in a coffee line or students in a group in a coffee line, spent more or less time on their cell phone. We were also interested to observe if genderaffected cell phone usage and whether males or females were more likely to be in a group. The purpose of this study was to determine if university students that are alone spend more or less time on their phone than students that are in a group. We also examined if gender was an important factor on whether a student was in a group or alone. Using naturalistic observation, we calculated the amount of time individual students were on their phone per three minute time interval. The hypothesiswas that students alone in a coffee line would spend the most time on their phone. We also predicted that women were more likely than men to be in a group. Method ... I will break this summary paper to three headings focused first on the preliminary of the research based upon educated guesses by the researching authors, second the research conducted to answer the questions pertaining to creativity and performance, then lastly with heading three, the outcomes of the experiment. Additionally, personalities with stronger constitutions tend to adapt with more ease to take in account more possibilities. Thus, expanding their problem solving repertoire to more substantial outcomes. Testing the question 1 The researchers, wanting to answer the question: Is there any correlation of motivation and creativity so they came up with some tests to prove if their hypothesis was right. They first came up with a pre test that asked over 151 college students who were volunteers, below the graduate level questions related to how they formulate ideas pertaining to solving answers to their everyday lives, along with a short consult. This is a troublesome task in itself because the person, or persons being tested on their life questions could feel too embarrassed to answer the questions honestly, and falsify their answer making it harder to formulate their research. Also, by have an inner dialog a certain type of question can have an effect of the outcome because one has to take in account of what has been going on during the assessment combining it all together whether the task was hard, easy, or the participant was just not really interested. Another way that a test questioner can fail to gather the best information is if the questions are not set up in categories to more formulate the hypothesis. • 14. Morality And The Origins Of Morality Most of the times Nietzsche understands morality as the set of values typical of the European society of his days. In this sense, it is safe to say that Nietzsche opposes morality and that genealogy serves the ultimate goal of undermining it. However, it is legitimate to envision for genealogy a scope for application which goes beyond the particular moralityof 19th century Germans. Accordingly, my claim is that in Nietzsche European morality represents just one possible form of morality. Nietzsche himself seems to claim that he is focusing his attacks only on a specific instance of morality one among possible others. So for example, in the preface to On the Genealogy of Morals he claims that the object of the book is the value of... Assuming that Schacht s interpretation is correct, I believe that his analysis bear strong similarities with the view of morality I adopted in the first chapter. On one hand, Schacht s talk of spheres of life leads to transcend our often restricted understanding of morality as including simply the realm of ethical rights and duties, or as being focused on explaining why and how we should act in order to live morally. In Schacht s sense, morality rather seems to include the mores of the Latin or the ethoi of the Greek. In other words, our family of norms is the set of values we live by in all the different situations we come across in our existence, including many areas of life that the restricted understanding of morality would not consider as relevant. Furthermore, to understand these mores/ethoi as moral standards or imperatives to which we have to conform is to understand only a side aspect of them. In fact, more than simply being moral rules directing our behaviour, these customs constitute our un reflected habits that is, the way in which we automatically express ourselves in a particular context , often being normative on a very unconscious level. Before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, America had an isolationistic approach to World War II. America believed that they had won the war for England, France and Italy, but were not given back the loans that were used for reparations. This resulted in the passing of the neutrality act by the US congress August 31, 1935. Yes, I agree that the there is an issue in regards to orientation process and the relationship it has on staff retention within our unit. I believe that a lack of proper orientation can have a tremendous impact of nurse retention rates. With improper orientation the entire unit suffers. It correlates with a decrease in the quality of care, patient safety and satisfaction, as well as nurse confidence. Having all staff trained in an extensive and consistent orientation program brings about better continuity and higher quality of care, as well as an increase in positive patient outcomes. The lack of an extensive and consistent orientation program leads to a deficit in critical thinking skills and clinical knowledge. When a nurse is not fully prepared for her role within a unit, it directly translates into patient care practices. I believe it also leads to a decrease in staff satisfaction for the new nurse as well as the seasoned nurses within the unit. There are numerous disputes to argue a theistic position, but there are also many fallacies that people use in an unjustified way to prove the existence of God. Using strong evidence mainly from the cosmological argument, the theory that everything happens as a cause of something before it leading all the way back to a first existence, and the argument of design, stating that the complexity of nature could only be explained by a sentient designer, a Greatest Conceivable Being must exist. The cosmological argument discusses the idea that everything is an effect of a cause. Everything happens due to something else, and all of that had to have begun somewhere at sometime. If you go back all the way to the beginning of time and the commencement of the universe, something had to have happened to caused for this to occur. This is what is believed to be the work of a Greatest Conceivable Being. Everything in the world that exists, exists because something else caused it, including the world itself. I will be basing this essay on the first episode of Breaking Bad and also the TV show as a whole. We will learn to what extent Breaking Bad reflects conventional narrative structure. First the essay will identify what conventional narrativestructure is. I will then analyse how Breaking Bad reflects the different parts that make up narrative structure, including, the three act structure and characterroles. I will then determine what is different about Breaking Bad and what parts of it do not conform to conventional narrative structure. These include, the three act structure and the roles of the characters. The three act structure is a model that is used in screenwriting to divide a narrative into different parts (Cod.edu, 2015). Research by Whiteley and Seyd (2002) backs up this claim as they note that the decline in party membership and party activism has been documented by grass roots party members in the UK for over ten years. Whiteley (2006) further supports this claim as he notes that there has been a weakening of partisan attachments within the electorate, and that over time there has been a long term decline towards party identification. He goes on to note that in 1964, when surveys first started to be used, almost 50% of the electorate had strong party identification towards a particular political party, but by 2001 this had reduced to only 13% of the electorate. He concluded by saying that although party identification had clearly declined over the years, the majority of voters still have some form of partisan attachments, although clearly a lot weaker than it once was. Meaning voters can now be more easily persuaded to switch parties. Research by Budge, Newton, McKay and Bartle (1998) also show that there has been a decline in party identification. They state that between the years 1945 to 1970, 44.8% of the electorate described themselves as being Conservative, 46.8% as Labour, 7.1% as Liberal Democrats and only 1.3% identified themselves as having attachments with other smaller parties. Lawrence divulges into the exploration of how greed and social status can affect individuals and to those who are significant to them. A social statue to an individual signifies their interpretation of where they belong in society. It may vary between politics, influence on the community, wealth, and even power. If looked from a broad perspective, what they all have in common is the greed to have more, similar to the mother who supposedly married for love. Greed can be both positive and negative, but it all depends on its usage whether its for the benefit of everyone or just for themselves. The narrative begins off with a background on the mother who supposedly had everything a woman could have in the early 1900 s. She had started with all [of] the advantages, a beautiful appearance, a handsome husband, three children, a pleasant house with a garden and servants, almost making this family feel superior above everyone else (150). Everyone had praised the mother saying how she adores her children, when in reality both the mother and children knew that was not true. The children looked at the mother with distaste, almost as if they were finding faults with her personality (150). What was Morgan s purpose to test the knighthood spirit of the Round Table? This key character, Morgan le Fay, was not fully developed in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, but we can still feel her envy, which was one of her possible motivations to set the test. As an educator, the focus of nursing informatics lies in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public health information (PHI), curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical record (EMR), and online continuing education. Informatics in the Workplace One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in the ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields, school counselors, and parents/students. There seems to be trouble and we must put an end to any disturbance that could lead to danger. The three continued their journey across the land, eventually crossing the border from the Land of Fire to the Land of Earth. Noticing the beautiful scenario as they ventured out into the new land. As they scoured this strange area, they began to speed up their pace. They were having second thoughts about this land and wished to bypass the forest quickly. It was strange however, for they had always moved through forests with no sign of fear, or any kind of suspicion. However, this time they felt different, as though all the Land of Earth civilians had peered into their souls. Nonetheless, the journey must continue, and the three held back their ... The years leading up to World War II and the dropping of the atomic bombs were hectic and disordered, from the rise of Hitler in 1933, U.S. isolationism in 1934, to the death of U.S. President Roosevelt. The war showed no signs of ending and the security and freedom of nations around the world were in danger. Order was nowhere to be found, and the decision to even consider using the atomic bomb was unpreventable. The U.S. used the atomic bomb because it was the only way Japan would surrender, the world wanted to end the war as soon as possible with as little casualties as possible, and because of resentful feelings toward Japan. It is debated however whether Japan would have surrendered without the catastrophic aid of the bombs. There were numerous attacks that would have eventually prompted Japan to give in. Any sane government would have surrendered after Iwo Jima, a deadly battle where 27,000 Japanese fought against 70,000 U.S marines...an inevitable loss for Japan. Nonetheless, the power of the bomb had convinced the world of its horror it even amazed its inventors. The surrender of Japan was not the only thing that compelled the use of the bombs. President Truman knew that they would have eventually given in, but he had them dropped anyway as a way of scaring the Communist Soviet Union into peaceful post war behavior (Collier, 81). The bomb impressed them and stopped them from asking for joint occupation of Japan. This was a major feat because that is the major reason why Russia joined the war hastily in 1945 in the first place. They sensed a victory for the U.S and perhaps the spoils of war for themselves. The Allies agreed to conditional surrender in order to save the lives of thousands of Japanese and Americans. More people would have died if Japan were invaded than dropping the bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Francis Bacon s The Birthmark And Rappaccini s Daughter Francis Bacon states in New Organon that scientists are given divine honors and scientists have bigger effects on the human race than founders of cities, legislators and kings. Bacon paints a very positive pictures of science and states that scientists have very positive effects on society. Many writers in the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century wrote works of fiction in contradiction to what Bacon believed. Many short stories tried to predict what the future of science might hold and tried to warn readers against the dangers of science. One such writer is Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hawthorne uses his stories to warn readers about the dangers of science. Heidegger s Experiment, The Birthmark and Rappaccini s daughter, all have very tragic endings that can be traced back to science experiments. All three stories focus on very intelligent and driven scientist who try to achieve their goals at any cost. Hawthorne uses these stories as a way to contradict Bacon s view and to state his views on science and give readers a better understanding of the capabilities of science. Hawthorne s short stories contradict Bacon and give accurate critique of modern science as they show the dangers of science and discusses getting obsessed with science and losing morale, the problems of trying to battle with nature and the productive and destructive powers of science. Such an estimate is made through the help of a loss function in decision making, as well as mathematical optimization. It is a common tendency to minimize the loss of the risk models and hence to do so are different methods applicable in today s statistics. Frequentist expected loss, Bayesian expected loss are mostly used; with Bayesian statistics being the increasingly common methodology in actuarial science. Insurers also make an estimate of the expected claims that arise in the future years, and so they need to hold reserves based on the aggregate claim amount they could face in the near future. Hence one way of doing this is by using the aggregate claim model. Therefore, examining and comparing the different forms of loss distribution that could be used in the aggregate risk model analysis, besides investigating about issues surrounding the application of Bayesian statistics in such a context. These characteristics unite and divide humans from all walks of life all around the world. While many countries and cultures throughout the world try to downplay the role of superficial conclusions based on perceived ethnicity, usually based on skin tone, it is difficult because for many cultures, skin tone and its implications are as much a part of reality as any other cultural moniker. The Dominican Republic is one of these countries. Since colonial times, skin tone has played a larger role than just signifying what part of the world one hails from; in the DR, skin tone is even more important than money and privilege as an indicator of one s apparent class. This bias and self hatred revolving around skin tone is apparent in the characters of Oscar and BelГ in Junot Diaz s The Brief and Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao, which serves as a great example of just how engrained skin tone politics are for Dominicans, even for the traditionally non marginalized upper class and those who leave the confines of Hispaniola. The Best Cost Effective Stormwater Management The easiest and most cost effective stormwater management has already been happening here in the metro area, which is rain barrels and rain cisterns. The Polk Soil and Water Conservation District, has fully indorsed the rain barrels and provides forms to order the rain barrels. They are the easiest and most cost efficient way for property owners to divert their stormwaterrunoff. The ease of Rain Barrels are that the rooftop downspouts are directed to a 55 gallon (usually) barrel that collects rainwater and stores it until needed for a specific use, such as watering plants. While Cisterns are normally an underground container or tank with a larger storage capacity than a rain barrel, and that is used to supplement greywater needs (i.e. ... From the story of creation in Genesis we are told that mankind is made in God s image. Through the act of God sacrificing His son Jesus for our iniquity, we see that he is charitable. The Bolshevik Economic Policy during the Civil War was significant for the Soviet Union as it helped to win the war and was the first implementation of Communist ideology anywhere. In addition, it affected many people, led to the Tambov Revolt and the Kronstadt Mutiny and had long term political consequences. The Bolsheviks aim was to dismantle the outdated structure of Tsarist regime and create a new economic system beneficial to all by introducing first Trotsky s War Communism and subsequently the New Economic Policy [NEP]. As historians we measure significance by the consequences of an event. Therefore, this essay will argue that the Bolshevik Economic Policy s main significance was that it represented a major turning point in the running of the country, that the introduction of War Communism led to success in the Civil War, and that its subsequent failure led to the NEP with its own consequences for the Soviet Union. War Communism, the measures introduced to gear the economy for the war effort and the first part of the Bolshevik Economic Policy, represented a turning point for the Soviet Union because it helped the Red Army to win the Civil War; in addition it was the first implementation of Communism anywhere, therefore this was the most significant effect.
