Change and Inspiring Business
In past, the business world tried to make progress
towards promoting gender equality and closing the
gender gap in corporate practices. Though, one constant
issue has underrepresented of women in leadership
positions.
Women leaders, who have faced challenges to
advancement in the business world, are turning to joining
enterprise sector to achieve freedom they long desired.
Harvard Business Review realised a study that's shows a
theory that women experience slower career
advancement due to behavioral differences. Surprisingly,
the study, which used sensors to capture workplace
dynamics, discovered that men and women behave
similarly, achieve comparable productivity levels, spend
the same amount of time in face-to-face meetings with
superiors, and even perform equally well.
World's Leaders latest edition “World’s Enterprising
Women Leading Change and Inspiring Business” has
featured women business leaders who are demonstrating
unparallel commitment by achieving enterprise
leadership positions.
The cover has Nasreen Alissa, a true pioneer and
champion of women's rights, has dedicated her career to
reshaping the legal landscape and empowering Saudi
women like never before. At the heart of her mission lies
KnowYourRights, an extraordinary mobile application

equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of
their rights and arming them against potential legal
pitfalls stemming from ignorance. As the first of its kind
in the Kingdom and beyond, KnowYourRights has
become a beacon of empowerment and knowledge.
Before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey,

growth and development as a legal
leader stem from her ability to aid
others. She recognizes that her
profession involves not only supporting
justice within society but also standing
up for what is right, earning the respect
of those around her. Reflecting on her
diverse life experiences, Nasreen
acknowledges a journey that has taken
her through various countries, early
work engagements, and extensive years
of education. With four degrees under
her belt - two Bachelor's degrees and
two Masters - her life has resembled a
roller coaster ride. Nasreen understands
that life's essence lies in the
accumulation of experiences, whether
positive or negative. From the positive,
she draws strength and continues to
build upon it, while from the negative,
she gleans valuable lessons and grows.

12. Each day, during her meditation practice,
Nasreen sets a personal goal to surpass
her previous self, striving to be better
than she was yesterday.
Empowering the Next Generation
Nasreen has a strong desire to enhance
the training programs available for young
law students and graduates. Recognizing
the importance of equipping the next
generation with practical skills and
knowledge, she aims to contribute to
their professional development and help
them thrive in the legal field.
Defying Expectations
Nasreen faced numerous challenges right
from the beginning of her journey in law
school. One of the significant hurdles she
encountered was dealing with people's
perceptions and attitudes towards her
decision to pursue a legal education.
Overcoming societal stereotypes and
biases required resilience and
determination.
Furthermore, Nasreen had to navigate an
environment where women were
underrepresented in law firms. She
recalls a particular experience where she
found herself as the lone female presence
in a law firm. This situation served as a
reminder of the existing gender disparity
within the legal profession.
However, Nasreen's perseverance and
dedication enabled her to overcome these
challenges. She remained focused on her
goals, determined to prove herself as a
competent and capable legal
professional, regardless of societal
expectations or the gender imbalance in
the field.
Guidelines for Aspiring Lawyers and Law Students
Drawing from her extensive experience in training over 100
students and junior lawyers, Nasreen offers valuable
recommendations for young lawyers and law students:
Ÿ Read! Read! Read! Stay updated on everything, particularly
changes in laws and regulations. Keeping abreast of legal
developments is essential to provide informed and
effective counsel to clients.
Ÿ Embrace criticism and let go of ego. Accepting constructive
feedback allows for personal and professional growth,
enabling continuous improvement.
Ÿ Cultivate persistence, perseverance, and resilience. The
legal profession can be demanding, but developing a
tenacious mindset will help navigate challenges and
overcome obstacles along the way.
Ÿ Focus on building and leveraging your strengths. Adopt a
growth mindset that emphasizes learning and
development, capitalizing on your unique abilities and
talents.
Ÿ Prioritize quality and efficiency in your work. Always put
yourself in your client's shoes, understanding their needs
and goals. By adopting a client-centered approach, you can
provide tailored and effective legal solutions, fostering
success for both you and your clients.
By following these recommendations, young lawyers and law
students can lay a strong foundation for their legal careers,
ensuring continued growth and success in the field.

you may think. Consistency will help you get
recognition, develop trust, and provide your services
effectively and profitably. Building a loyal customer base and

her needs, is creative and stimulates her staff by coming up
with fresh ideas and solutions for her clients.

started working for a mortgage broker for a while and quickly
developed a passion for lending. A recruiter for U.S. Bank
then called Adrianne, and the owner decided to take a chance
on her and offer her a wonderful job working with a
wonderful builder. It's been a great experience for her to work
with them for the past 12 years.
She is currently a Senior Mortgage Advisor for .
U.S. Bank
She truly cares about assisting customers in realizing their
aspirations of becoming homeowners and creating personal
wealth for themselves through home equity. Like everyone
else in the field, she first struggled to establish a foothold, but

moulded her and the relationships she has now.

A Renowned Arbitration Expert Serving Client with Excellence
Despite the fact that understanding and mastering group dynamics is
crucial for all leaders, there was a sense in our conversa ons that it
may, regre ably, be more likely to be put to the test if a female is in
charge of the group than a male. Although dealing with unconscious prejudice
can be challenging, it may present a chance to improve crucial listening skills
that might never be put to the test. Legal leadership is dis nct in and of itself.
Even though there are many common traits of effec ve leadership, the
demanding technical exper se required of lawyers adds extra elements to
success in the field.
Elected as a Leading Individual in the list of the best lawyers in the world in the
area of corporate li ga on by the Bri sh magazine Who`s Who`s, Ana Tereza

In 2008, Ana and her brother João
Basilio took on the challenge and
launched themselves into the new
project. They invited prominent
lawyers on the national scene and
graduates of law firms within the
country. They founded Basilio
Advogados Law Firm, which has
grown exponentially in specialized
civil litigation, arbitration, and
consulting firms in the past 12 years.
In her journey, Ana had the honor to be
a judge of the Regional Electoral Court
of the State of Rio de Janeiro, from
December 2010 to July 2015. She was
a member of the International Chamber
of Commerce (ICC), based in Paris, in
the Arbitration and Dispute Resolution
(ADR) commission, Director of
Mediation and Arbitration of the
Institute of Brazilian Lawyers elected
in 2018 for the biennium 2018-2019,

Commission of the Escola de
Magistratura of the State of Rio de
Janeiro (EMERJ), and in August 2021,

profession, she founded the Instituto
Brasileiro de Estudos em Proteção de
Dados - IBRADADOS, assuming its
presidency until April 2022.
Basilio Advogados
Basilio Advogados is well-known
among Brazilian families and is skilled
in providing legal services in the fields
of corporate, real estate, family law,
and civil litigation. It focuses on
business and is built around serving
huge corporations in a variety of
industries, including public service
concessionaires, healthcare, mining,
banking, construction, retail, and
individual customers. The firm's
diverse team works in a variety of
industry sectors, but it excels at
strategic civil litigation and arbitration.
They respond to demands that have
both domestic and international
implications, as Ana is proud to state.
Gains Accolades and Recognition
In November 2018, Ana was elected to
serve as the Vice-President of the
Brazilian Bar Association, Section of
the State of Rio de Janeiro for the
2019–2021 biennium, and in
November 2021, she was chosen to
serve once more for the 2022–2024
triennium. The Permanent Forum of
Transparency and Administrative
Probity, of the School of Magistrates of
the State of Rio de Janeiro-EMERJ,

recently, in August, 2022, she had the
honor of being awarded the Medal of
Merit Pedro Ernesto, conferred by the
illustrious councilors that make up the
City Council of the city of Rio de
Janeiro.
Growing as a Litigator
It is everyone's responsibility to learn
and evolve. Evolving means growing
by putting down strong and deep roots.
It means consolidating itself in the
market, having a strong base, and
transmitting security to the customers
and employees. Ana herself keeps
changing, modifying, and developing
in accordance with society and the law.
She keeps studying, improving herself,
exchanging experiences with her
colleagues, and dedicating her time to
each new challenge she comes across.
"Solving our customers' challenges is
the result we seek, the fruit we want to
reap day after day. Nowadays, what I
see that young lawyers lack, not all of
them, but in some, is precisely this
constant search for learning, the desire
to grow, to develop." Exhorts Ana
As per her considerations, one cannot
be conformist and stagnate. If society
changes, the law adapts to new
realities, laws fall out of favor, and
new laws are written and enacted, then
this evolution must be followed.
Secrets of Success
Ana, João and Márcio Notini, three
partners, run Basilio's management.
Operations and financial duties are
managed on a daily basis by João and
Márcio Notini. When it comes to
working with clients, managing cases,
putting teams together, creating
procedural tactics, and, of course,
meetings, dispatches, and oral
arguments, Ana is in charge. Ana
intends to keep up her aggressive legal
advocacy since she finds her greatest
enjoyment and satisfaction in being at
the forefront of her clients' and their
interests.
Another source of her happiness is her
horses, who steal her attention from
work. From childhood only she craves

financial advisors, are always
challenging the status quo,
breaking through opaque

a person must be able to provide

32. Below are
highlights of
the interview
conducted
between
World's Leaders
and Cindy
Watson:
Describe who you are as a person,
inside and outside of the workplace.
I've always been passionate and driven
about issues I care about. Growing up
in a blue-collar family (in a low-rent
apartment complex with a father who
worked shift work in a paper mill
factory), I felt called to protect the
rights of workers. It was always
instilled in me from a young age that
everyone deserves to be treated with
dignity and respect in the workplace
and beyond. That is a life-long
philosophy I have embraced and
brought to my law practice, zealously
representing trade unions and the rights
of their members.
Describe your background and what
did you do before you started/joined
the company?
Coming from a blue-collar
background, my parents didn't have the
resources to afford a post-secondary
education for me. So, I worked almost
full-time hours waitressing throughout
the school year for my high school,
university, and law school experiences
to earn the money to fund my
education. In the summers, I sought out
relevant work experience, doing an
internship in the Students Training in
Industrial Relations program, working
at employment agencies (both private
and public), and working with a trade
union.
Tell us about the inception of the
company. How did it all start?
I went to law school knowing I wanted
to practice trade union labor law. I
articled at the Labour Relations Board,
and after my call to the bar, I took a
position at a boutique labour law firm.
I was offered a partnership after only 3
years, but while I loved the practice, I
knew I didn't want to do it there.
Everyone thought I was having an
early midlife crisis when I turned it
down and opted to put out my own
shingle. I wanted a firm that was
mission-driven and ideologically
committed to protecting and enhancing
rights for workers and unions.
With the naiveté that comes from
youth, I had no doubt that it would
succeed. In hindsight, I had no equity,
no assurance of clients, no business
plan, or any of the typical minimum
requirements for a business start-up,
but my unshakable confidence in the
power of my mission allowed me to
forge a path to kickstart my own
boutique labor law firm, which quickly
grew (both in size and reputation). We
became known for our passionate
advocacy on behalf of our clients, and
I'm proud to say that reputation
continues.
What has made you successful?
What do you value?
I've always prided myself and our firm
on our core values of integrity, passion,
drive, commitment, and excellence.
That winning combination delivers
consistent, superior results. We believe
in what we do and the important value
it brings, not only to our clients but the
broader community as we advocate for
enhanced rights for workers on a
global level.
Because we are mission-driven, we
aren't motivated by the money. We
pride ourselves on our ability to effect
superior settlements, knowing when
and how to avoid litigation to secure
creative best outcomes and when to
litigate.

33. Which are the major services of the
company and how do they the
company to get ahead in the
competition? What value-added
services does the company provide?
We offer the full range of services to
our trade union clients, including (but
not limited to):
Representation before all labour
tribunals and at all levels of court
Ÿ Grievance & arbitration advocacy
Ÿ Labour Board advocacy
Ÿ Workers compensation matters
Ÿ Disability benefits
Ÿ Equity work
Ÿ Human Rights advocacy
Ÿ Legislative and political lobbying
Ÿ Training & Education programming
We stand out from the competition
given our passionate commitment to
the cause which is reflected in our
advocacy and in our ability to secure
better outcomes without litigation
where appropriate. We tirelessly seek
the best possible results for our clients.
We do so utilizing what we call the Art
of Feminine Negotiation, where we
bring rapport-building, empathy,
flexibility, intuition and trust-building
to the table so our clients get more
creative outcomes with better
relationships, greater buy-in and
longer-lasting agreements.
We think outside the box, looking for
unexamined options for enhanced
solutions. This cooperative versus
competitive approach consistently
yields better experiences and outcomes
for our clients. Having said that, where
necessary we are known for our
exceptional advocacy, where we leave
no stone unturned.
We care about our clients and their
issues. We don't treat them like
numbers.
Unlike most law firms, we also think
proactively, seeking to anticipate issues
and redressing them before they
become conflicts or problems. Our
proactive (vs reactive) approach is
unique in the practice of law and saves
our clients much time, money, angst
and relationships.
Give us your opinion on; do
organizations rely heavily on
individual heroics or team
processes?
Team is key in life generally, in
business organizations, and particularly
for trade unions and service providers
for unions. Unions are based on a
philosophy of solidarity—stronger
together. Individual heroics do not
serve the greater good. Building an
engaged, dedicated, passionate team is
key to success. Studies show that
diversity in thinking allows for more
creative outcomes and better results
(not to mention improved productivity
and efficiency).
Teamwork and the brainstorming it
affords will increase the output of any
organization (both in terms of
quantitative productivity, but perhaps
more importantly, in terms of more
refined, creative, distinctive, move-the-
dial end results).
This holds true generally, and we see it
as particularly important for our law
firm. Unions secure their strength in
numbers. Unions that rely on
individual heroics don't survive. The
law firms that serve trade unions need
to similarly embrace and foster team
environments to deliver the best
possible service, advice, and results.
What are your responsibilities as the
Founder/CEO of the company?
What is the happiest part of your
daily routine?
I'm proud to have built our thriving
practice over the last 30 years. We've
built a reputation for our passion,
integrity, and results. I'm still integrally
involved in the building of our team
and ensuring that our culture continues
to reflect our core values. Hiring our
best team is a key part of that process,
as is fostering relationships with our
long-time clients and building on client
development for the future.
I'm lucky to still be passionate about
representing trade unions. I love the
advocacy, and I particularly love the
exceptional training and education we
offer. Engaging directly with members,
stewards and front-line union reps
feeds me – the energy flows both ways
as we inspire each other in carrying
forward the important work that needs
to be done.
What advice would you give
someone going into a leadership
position for the first time?
Listen. Really listen. Bring empathy to
the table, truly seeking to understand
and meet the needs of others (both
within and outside your organization).
The benefits of this approach cannot be
overstated. Never seek to exert power
over others, but rather, always strive to
achieve power with those you engage
with.

36. Women continue to find the law to be
an appealing professional path. Around
the turn of the twentieth century,
people all over the world began to
battle for entrance to law schools and
the ability to practice law. They are
frequently the 'reserve army' in law
firms, their fate reliant on the economic
situation. Certain female attorneys
have left remarkable imprints on the
field of law. To mark this, we're taking
a look at a founding partner of Huglo
Lepage Avocats, Corinne Lepage, and
her impact on the legal profession.
Corinne earned her legal degree from
Sciences Po. She has a DES in political
science and in public law.
After that, she spent five years as a
trainee in a lawyer's office at the
Conseil d'Etat. She founded the first
law firm devoted solely to public and
environmental law with Christian
Huglo.
Corinne's experience added value to
the firm. She has served as a minister,
MEP, and local elected official at the
head of a political movement. She has
chaired or administered a number of
organizations in a variety of fields,
including health, anti-corruption,
biotechnologies, and human rights, all
of which benefit the firm.
She is the one who's in charge of
everything. Nonetheless, the lawyers
with whom she works are liberals who
have a lot of leeway in managing the
files given to them, even if the papers
remain under her supervision. Her
primary role is to preserve the firm's
continuity and to communicate a
forward-looking perspective with her
colleagues.
Corinne says, “Obviously, nothing
would be possible without the quality
of the teams I work with, their skills,
and their rigor. ”
Huglo Lepage Avocats
Over the last forty-five years, Huglo
Lepage Avocats has gone through
many stages. Currently, the
organization consists of roughly twenty
highly competent individuals that share
the same philosophy. It is the first law
practice to establish itself as a mission-
driven organization. This necessitates
an understanding of the general, social,
and environmental interests. Whether
it's the cases, the books that they
publish, or the many webinars they
host, they have a very collaborative
management style at the company.
Gender equality is something they pay
close attention to. They also have a
diverse range of age groups
represented.
The firm has high expectations for the
level of continuing education given.
They have an active training program
that includes webinars and the creation
of doctrine. In addition, the firm
provides a weekly newsletter and a
daily legal watch that are largely open
to the public.
Value-added Legal Services
Huglo Lepage Avocats is a full- service
firm that primarily works in the fields
of environmental law (energy, waste,
polluted soils, products, classified
installations, natural and technological
risks, circular economy, biodiversity,
environmental health, transportation,
and so on) and public law (public
procurement, urban planning, regional
development, planning, construction).
However, they also have a
criminal/civil law section that deals
with a variety of matters, many of
which are environmental in nature and
have both civil and criminal aspects.
Corinne believes the value-added
services of the company lie on several
levels: on the one hand, the company's
long history of working together and
size, which allows them to take an
interdisciplinary approach to cases,
which is often innovative and effective;
on the other hand, the growth of the
TREEES network, which allows them
to draw on the expertise of 28
members. In addition to the two
specialists in public law and
environmental law and the three
doctors of law in the firm, the firm has
two specialists in criminal law and one
in environmental law.
Finally, the biggest strength is likely
the ability to innovate, which combines
with a lot of expertise.
They have handled most of the
significant environmental issues for the
past 50 years. They just established
new ground with the first case against
the French government for climate
default.
Empowered by Experience and
Expertise
According to Corinne, Huglo Lepage
Avocats' team has had the chance to
manage several extremely good
environmental litigation issues at the
French and European levels, as well as
beyond (cf. oil contamination in
Mauritius). She says, “We can
mention, among others, the emblematic
Erika case, the Grande Synthe ruling
which is fundamental for climate
litigation, and the various pesticide
pollution cases.”
Simultaneously, the team is heavily
involved in advising on the
development of renewable energy
projects, including the most cutting-
edge ones like agrivoltaics and the
coupling of green energy with
hydrogen generation. Huglo Lepage
Avocats also aids global corporations
with the adoption of the circular
economy, as well as energy storage
facilities and batteries.

41. The Heidi Staircase
As a young child, Heidi Lindner
enjoyed arguing, debating, expressing
her opinions, and taking the lead. Her
decision to seek a career in law may
have been influenced by her feeling of
powerlessness in the face of injustices
as much as her rage. Since her first
year of high school, she has known that
she wants to follow this area of study.
She earned a master's degree from
Panamerican University, a
specialization in constitutional
litigation (Amparo) from the Supreme
Court of Justice of Mexico's Institute
of Judicial Specialization, and a
master's degree from George
Washington University.
As her career progressed, Heidi
eventually concentrated on the topic of
Life Sciences within Intellectual
Property Law, paying particular
attention to the most recent
developments in science and
technology. She worked for Baker &
McKenzie's Intellectual Property
Department for about eight years.
During that time, she also rose to the
position of local partner. She joined the
current company, which was formerly
known as Arochi, Marroquin &
Lindner, in 1994. She is a Senior
Partner and the head of the Patent
Litigation section of Arochi & Lindner,
and she has more than 35 years of
experience in intellectual property and
life sciences litigation and advising,
achieving favorable rulings in several
landmark cases for clients in the
pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and
medical device industries.
Arochi & Lindner
Arochi & Lindner is a well-known and
respected name in Latin American
intellectual property protection. It was
established in 1994 and has become a
prominent firm in large part because of
its innovative and customer-focused
mindset. It opened an office in Spain in
2011, and as a direct result of its
success, they are still expanding both
domestically and internationally today.
Offering high-profile legal counsel in
the fields of intellectual property, life
sciences, marketing and advertising,
civil and commercial litigation,
corporate and regulatory, and personal
data security, the company has more
than 27 years of experience.

challenges they face by providing clear
and accurate advice that recognizes
and minimizes risks, foresees and

potential profit for the clients within
each business opportunity, market, or
industry.
Due to its unwavering commitment to
each project, it is famous for its client-
focused service delivery method that
generates results quickly and
effectively. This is made possible by
the firm's commitment to each project;
its thorough approach based on years
of experience across a range of practice
areas; the assertiveness and

47. In the relationship between a leader
and their employees, integrity and
trust go hand in hand. Employees
rate leaders on their character and skills,
and they equate integrity with kindness
and having altruistic goals rather than
self-interest. Leaders must develop
scripts and put plans into place for
responding to the frequently cited
justifications for dubious behaviors in
order to take values-driven action.
Integrity in leadership is also a crucial
component in resolving these conflicts of
values. As the CEO of Kinetic Spark
Consulting (KSC), Jen Du Plessis
prioritizes integrity in both her personal
and professional life. As a result, every
decision she takes, whether
professionally or personally, is guided by
this decision-making process.
"When I'm dancing, I will make sure that
I'm acting with integrity; that the dance
will not diminish my integrity." -says
Jen.
Bringing KSC into Being
Jen Du Plessis worked in the mortgage
industry for four decades as a processor,
manager, underwriter, branch manager,
district manager, regional manager, and
national manager. She also had her own
brokerage for nine years. For half her
time in the industry, she was an
originator. She also was a managing
member of BNI (Business Network
International), and that's when she began
expanding her coaching practice. Many
people approached her and enquired
about how she had accomplished so
much. The concept was that, after being
asked by multiple people, she realized
there was a need.

57. As we begin the third
decade of the twenty-first
century, education is
more important than ever
for comprehending the
modern world. Whether it
is teaching students or
instructors, analyzing the
role of education in
leading and driving
change via policy,
practice, and ongoing
innovation for a more
inclusive education is
essential in the creation
of new and improved
educational systems
across the world.
Patti France has worked in the field of post-secondary
education for more than 35 years. She has had direct
responsibility for several important College departments
over the past ten years, including the Registrar's Office,
Human Resources, Student Services, Information
Technology, Health and Safety and Facilities Management.
She has also handled formal College interactions with both
unions as well as the majority of College interactions with
the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills
Development. Patti France, the College's President, serves
as head of many committees, including the Senior
Operations Group, which is made up of members of the
senior management team.
Patti France participates on numerous committees and sub-
committees. She is the Board Chair of the Ontario College
Application Services (OCAS), the Board Vice-Chair for
Windsor Regional Hospital and is also the Chair of their
Quality of Care Sub-Committee. Patti is a Board member
of the Windsor Family Credit Union and also sits on their
Audit Committee. Patti also currently serves as a member
of the Ontario Colleges Committee of Presidents.
Journey to Becoming an Educational Chief
President France was raised in Essex County's northern
region, close to Windsor, Ontario. When she graduated
from high school in the 1990s, she decided to enroll in the
diploma program in Computer Programming because she
was interested in the still-relatively-new but fascinating
field.
In fact, Patti was a bit of an anomaly when she was chosen
to lead St. Clair in 2015. President France was one of a
select group of Canadian college presidents whose first
tertiary education had actually occurred inside the college
system as opposed to having gone to a university.
Additionally, over the course of more than twenty years,
she had spent her entire professional life at the same
organization: from being a student at St. Clair to a
Computer Lab Technician and lecturer, to managerial
positions in the school's I.T. Department, to Vice-
Presidential appointments overseeing nearly every division
of the College, and finally to St. Clair's Presidency. The fact
that students and potential students could see how their own
President used her College credentials to advance inside the
school was a fantastic marketing and recruitment picture.
President France had earned degrees in adult education
while still pursuing her work (a B.A. from Brock University
in Ontario and an M.A. from St. Francis Xavier University
in Nova Scotia). That was another important message to
students, demonstrating that "I practiced what I preached"
when she spoke about the importance of life-long learning.
