Workplace Safety
 Young people are at risk of being injured on the job.
Many young people are at risk because they receive
little or no safety training, reluctant to ask questions
in fear of looking stupid, assigned physically
demanding or dangerous tasks, unaware of their
rights, feel rushed, juggling homework, or distracted
by other things.
Workplace Safety
Three Basic Rights
The Three Basic Rights are:
1. The Right to Know. Your employer has the
responsibility to tell you about hazards on the
worksite.
2. The Right to Speak Up. If uncertain about a task or
how to use a piece of equipment, ask for proper
training.
3. The Right to Refuse. You can refuse to work if
unsafe practices are being used.
Workplace Safety
It is important to note that will not be penalized if
you refuse to work for unsafe practices.
It is your responsibility to make sure your following
safe work procedures, ask for training, use personal
protective equipment, and to identify hazards.
Workplace Safety
No job is worth not following work safety procedures
because it could cost you to be seriously hurt or your
life.
