Rational Team Concert Process Customization - What you can and cannot doRalph Schoon
Working with customers and in the Jazz.net forum shows there is a strong desire to implement and automate the development processes. Therefore Process customization, especially around work items has always been a major hotspot in RTC adoption. Experience also shows that a lot of the requirements in process customization are driven by process problems and the desire to avoid having to fix the process by customizing the tools instead.
This presentation shows the process customization capabilities available in RTC. It also shows examples for requirements that are hard or impossible to implement in RTC and it shows requirements that might indicate that you should consider fixing the process rather than the tool.

Five Pain Points of Agile Development (And How Software Version Management Ca...Perforce
The latest research on Software Configuration Management suggests that developers are struggling in five key areas: latency, far-flung teams, ad-hoc workflows, administrative overhead, and integration nightmares.
This webcast will help you understand how these five factors are undermining developer productivity and performance.
As modern practices strain some tools to their limits, companies are revisiting their approaches to version management. We will share with you...
* How the market is evolving to address these critical issues
* How innovative SCM tools can take your versioning to new levels.
DevOps has been an emerging trend in the software development world for the past several years. While the term is relatively new, it is really a convergence of a number of practices that have been evolving for decades. Unfortunately, database development has been left out of much of this movement, but that's starting to change. As database professionals, we all need to understand what this important change is about, how we fit in, and how to best work database development practices into the established DevOps practices.
One of the cornerstones of the DevOps methodology is source control. When most people think of source control, they picture a tool - either a traditional, centralized system like TFS, or a newer, distributed system like Git. Source control is more than a tool, though; human processes and practices also play a critical role in an effective source control (and DevOps) implementation. In this session, we'll talk in depth about both types of source control systems and how you can effectively use source control for your databases.
Kill Administrator: Fighting Back Against Admin RightsScriptLogic
We’re not talking about killing the Administrator. That would be you, and that would be wrong. Rather, it’s time we eliminated the role of Administrator from our Windows servers and desktops.
Administrator privileges are Windows’ necessary evil. Why? Standard Windows user rights just aren’t powerful enough to accomplish many needed tasks, so users demand elevated rights for everything. That’s the problem with Administrator: You either have it or you don’t.
With a new approach to delegating administrative privileges, you can granularly elevate privileges in applications and the operating system. Windows itself has such a solution in its built-in AppLocker functionality. AppLocker is a good tool to whitelist apps you’ve approved to run, but it isn’t without its shortfalls.
Join Concentrated Technology’s Greg Shields and ScriptLogic’s Nick Calavancia as they compare the AppLocker approach with ScriptLogic’s Privilege Authority product. You’ll find that finding the right balance requires the right set of tools.
In this webinar, we will cover:
1. Getting to least privilege – killing admin rights
2. Administrative granularity – balancing lockdown with productivity
3. Lockdown rules that work

Managing one or two unique machines in an ad-hoc manner is not a story that many people talk about nowadays. Today, small teams need to manage hundreds or thousands of nodes, serving a myriad of purposes, running any number of critical Dev and Ops workloads. And they have to do it in a way that still leaves time for unplanned and strategic work.

A Reference Architecture to Enable Visibility and Traceability across the Ent...CollabNet
Software development should not be a “black box” to the business, customers or other developers. Instead collaboration across stakeholders should be the norm--business, development and operations teams. Forrester recently reported that 13% of organizations doing Agile link “upstream” agile planning with ‘“downstream” development.
As a result, executives continue to have only limited or no visibility beyond the initial planning stage of what is in a particular release. It’s not their fault, because today’s tools focus on upfront planning and don’t give you visibility into what’s happening in development. Often times that visibility is too late resulting in software that gets delivered and does not meet the customer’s needs.
Join CollabNet’s most experienced senior solution architects as they explain how you can you gain real time visibility into all stages of the development process—from ideation into production through deployment. Imagine what can your teams get done if all stakeholders are able to collaborate together and view real time feeds into all stages of the delivery pipelines within a single easy-to-use system.
Who Should attend:
Any executive or manager interested in learning how to get traceability and visibility across the enterprise-- particularly, into the build and release management functions of their application lifecycle.
What will be covered:
An enterprise-scalable reference architecture for CI, CD, and DevOps
The importance of build management, release management and application release automation integration
A blueprint for scaling business agility across a large development organization How does CollabNet help organizations solve these problems
A demonstration of TeamForge’s capabilities using Git/Gerrit, Code Review, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, Chef and Automic
Oracle Database Lifecycle Management using Enterprise Manager 12c (Release 4)
Learn about the features from Provisioning to Compliance and Everything in between you need to maintain Database environments in the regular or private database cloud.
A presentation on Ruby on Rails & Version Control. It takes us through the Ruby language, Rails framework and the various conventions and methodologies used while using it for development purposes. The presentation then moves on to Version Control, explaining the need for it and the process of version control, ending the presentation with a comparison between Centralized & Distributed Version Control Systems.
The increasing adoption of DevOps principles has led to greater integration between software development (both application and software engineering) and IT operations (both systems administration and infrastructure). In this online seminar, we will explore the DevOps approaches

How to Use Algorithms to Scale Digital BusinessTeradata
Gartner defines digital business as the creation of new business designs by blurring the digital and physical worlds. Digital business creates new business opportunities, but the amount of data generated will eclipse the human ability to process it. Further, many complex decisions will need to be made in timeframes, and at scales, that are impossible by human actors. Gartner analyst Chet Geschickter will explain share advice on how to leverage algorithmic business principles to drive digital business success.
Humans are sentient. We perceive. We feel. We listen. The problem is the more you put together, the more we lose these capabilities. We get slower. The idea is, how we create a company that acts like a single organism, where we identify opportunities, and that allows us to work in a faster and exponential world world where development happens in months rather than years. Don't let digital transformation become a war of competitive attrition. You may need to invest in your future to change the game.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Aprimo Master PowerPoint template instructions: When importing slides from other presentations, formatting issues such as font, text size or color discrepancies can occur. Most of these problems can be fixed by updating the layout of the slide. Click on the home tab> then select the layout dropdown menu> choose the updated title, text or content slide. If there are graphic elements from previous presentations that are not selectable or erasable it’s likely that they are elements from a previous template. To fix this, click view> Slide Master. You should see template slides appear the left side of the screen. In the slide master view, the undesired elements should be unlocked and editable. Once you have the desired result, return to the presentation by clicking slide master> close master view.
