the Aceh Institute initiated a
project to encourage the
implementation of the smoke
free policy in Banda Aceh from
2019 to 2024

butts (60.4%), followed by the absence of no smoking signs (53.8%)

Smoking ban signage should be
mandatory installed and
renewed every each certain
period in all smoke-free areas
A continuous dissemination and
supervision regarding smoke-
free legislation should be
conducted to managers area
Developing an internal
monitoring team in each area
to monitor the implementation
at their own building
Monitoring and law
enforcement by civil police to
give deterrent effect for
violations
A Comprehensive strategies have to be
simultaneously implemented, including
mandatory no smoking signage, complete
removal of ashtrays, designated smoking
areas, TAPS elimination, internal monitoring,
and manager supervision
