Scaling Magento - Reaching Peak Performance
Building a cluster to support Magento is easy and makes a good example for scalable web application platforms.
I will walk through a typical Magento Cluster setup and provide Vagrant/Puppet configurations for the basic setup. Then I will cover some of the hardware and cloud resources that are required as the platform grows. We will move onto application choices, and some of the development, testing and deployment strategies that are required to have a successful clustered platform.
* Hardware vs Cloud: Exploring hardware and software options available for scaling
* Cluster Architecture
* Web server: How to cluster your application
* Varnish: How to speed up response time using reverse proxy caching
* Database: How to cluster Magento Database using Percona
* Redis: How to set up a Redis Cluster using Sentinel and Keepalived
* Filesystem: NFS, NAS or other clustered file systems
* Application Architecture: How to avoid angering your systems administrators
* Testing: Exploring load testing with tools like Gatling and BlazeMeter
* Development and Deployment Process

Caching and tuning fun for high scalability @ PHPTourWim Godden
Caching has been a 'hot' topic for a few years. But caching takes more than merely taking data and putting it in a cache : the right caching techniques can improve performance and reduce load significantly. But we'll also look at some major pitfalls, showing that caching the wrong way can bring down your site. If you're looking for a clear explanation about various caching techniques and tools like Memcached, Nginx and Varnish, as well as ways to deploy them in an efficient way, this talk is for you. In this tutorial, we'll start from a Zend Framework based site. We'll add caching, begin to add servers and replace the standard LAMP stack, all while performing live benchmarks.
Speeding up your WordPress Site - WordCamp Toronto 2015Alan Lok
This is a revised talk from the May 2015 presentation I gave to WordCamp Hamilton. At the end of this presentation you should have some ideas on how to speed up your WordPress site from within (plugins, code / theme optimizations) to environmental changes.
This presentation reviews of the many aspects of PHP performance that can impact day-to-day living. It explores basic concepts for resolution when PHP performance has got you down. The focus is on Zend Server configuration options including, but not limited to: caching, Apache settings, PHP syntax fundamentals, diagnosing bottlenecks, and DB2/SQL optimization.
Supercharging your PHP pages with mod_lsapi in CloudLinux OSCloudLinux
We’ve got big news - mod_lsapi is the fastest and most reliable way to serve PHP pages with Apache. It is a drop-in replacement for SuPHP, FCGID, RUID2, and ITK, has a low memory footprint and understands PHP directives from .htaccess files. It also supports PHP accelerators. It is fully compatible with PHP Selector, which allows end users to select the specific version of PHP they need. Here, learn more about this new production-ready feature, how it works and why it is so powerful.

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. To track such hacker activities on dark web sources like hacker forums, private Telegram channels, and other hidden platforms where cyber threats often originate, you can check SOCRadar’s Dark Web News.

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

7. Database Optimizations
1.“too many connection error” - This is seen because all connections between
mysql daemon is occupied by users and mysql daemon can not service any
further connection request.
2.The default value of max_connection is set to 150 ( 150+1)
3.150 default max_connections - total no users with 150 connections can be
benchmarked at 3000.(Rough estimate)
4.Database Caching/Object Caching/Memcaching/mysql
innodb/hyperdb/Mariadb
8. Wordpress cron job & gzip compression
1.Linux Cron vs Wordpress cron.
2.Wp-cron runs every time someone visits page.
3.Scheduled task gets triggered based on wordpress cron.
4.Use Linux cron for better performance.
5.Use gzip compression in server & image compression
9. Apache Optimizations-> lightspeed
1.Apache Worker - threaded
ServerLimit: 16
ThreadsPerChild : 25
MaxRequestWorkers: 400
More config details
https://www.studyobject.com/apache-mpm-worker/
2.C10k problem (lightspeed) -low memory footprint, less cpu load & speed optimizations.
10. PHP-FPM & op-cache
Using Dynamic type
1.pm.min_spare_servers = 1
pm.max_spare_servers = 7
Usually default value of pm.start_servers is min_spare_servers + (max_spare_servers – min_spare_servers) / 2
pm.start_servers = 4 // 4 no of children will be started
pm.max_children = 8 // the maximum no of children which can be alive is 8.
pm.max_requests = 500;
//The number of requests each child process should execute before respawning , before setting high no like 500 check how much CPU your Single Page takes, each page gets
loaded based on no of php requests. The pages having less php requests will consume less CPU and vice versa.
More config details https://www.studyobject.com/highly-recommended-performance-pool-php-fpm/
2.Op-cache stores php script bytecode in shared memory to avoid loading and parsing of php scripts on each request
