HEALTH TOPIC
ANSWER
State the topic you have selected for your Teaching Project.
(Please select from the list provided in the Teaching Project guidelines located in Module 4.)
Describe in detail why this is an important topic for patient education. Use evidence from the textbook, lesson or an outside scholarly source to support your rationale.
The topic I decided to select for my Teaching Project is Depression.
Depression is one of the common diseases that have killed many people, especially older people. Therefore, teaching about this topic will be very important to most of the people as they will be able to understand what is it, how they acquire, and how they can prevent it. Depression is very common to the older adults and thus, the community should assume it and treat it as a usual way of ageing among the adults (National Institute on Aging, 2017). Only a few people open up about this kind of disease and discuss their health status and symptoms with healthcare providers (Lyness, 2019).
This topic is also significant to the patients when they get educated about depression as it will help in addressing the early signs and symptoms of depression. This will help in controlling depression at early stages to prevent other dangerous results such as suicides, poor quality of life to those affected individuals and different associated physical prognoses especially if the person has been in medical conditions.
POPULATION
ANSWER
Describe, in detail, the characteristics of the population you are planning to teach with the Visual Teaching Tool.
The population I will focus on is when teaching with visual teaching planning is the older people. Most of the focus is precisely those who are under nursing care services and are suffering from depression due to various reasons.
BARRIERS
ANSWER
What are some potential learning barriers for this population of learners?
(Barriers might be cultural, physical, educational, or environmental. Refer to the assigned article in the project guidelines for more information.)
During the teaching planning and learning process, several potential barriers can hinder the process among the population. Educational barriers are one of the common barrier that will hinder learning. This is because most of the adults did not get enough education; ther.

Identification of Focus for Community Teaching (Hypertension): Primary Prevention/Health Promotion: The set of methods or measures that are used to prevent the disease before its exposure to the people is disease prevention. The promotion of health is the way of making people aware of maintaining health and adopting healthy lifestyles. Both use the same strategies and focused on health care (Bakhshi et al. 2015).
Epidemiological Rationale for Topic (Statistics Related to Topic): Health promotion programs and policies enable the communities to understand the importance of environmental and personal factors to maintain their health. These programs or campaigns must be properly organized so that most number of people will know the significance of maintaining physical and mental health (Kaakinen et al. 2018).
Teaching Plan Criteria
Your teaching plan will be graded based on its effectiveness and relevance to the population selected. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric before beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Nursing Diagnosis: This is related to the methods or activities related to seeking health care. This includes the set of activities that provides the topics to select the nursing interventions and to achieve the results according to the nurse’s responsibilities. Methods include the adoption of self-care practices, progress maintenance, to start the program related to the reduction of stress and anxiety and have a potential to learn about the diseases causes and treatment (Doenges et al. 2016).
Readiness for Learning: Identify the factors that would indicate the readiness to learn for the target aggregate. Include emotional and experiential readiness to learn.
The practice of reading is significant to achieve learning outcomes. There must be a connection of nurses with patients so that they can understand their problems and what steps can be taken to solve those problems. They can learn from professionals or with other fellow members. This will ma.

Topic: A Community Education Program for the Primary Prevention of Diabetes.
Identification of Focus for Community Teaching
The focus of this community teaching program is health promotion/primary prevention for Type 2 Diabetes. Health promotion initiatives involve processes of enabling people within certain communities to increase their control of their health. Health promotion activities such as the planned diabetes prevention education aim to help people to improve their health so that they can achieve a better state of physical, mental, and social wellbeing. In particular, this teaching program will help the targeted community to understand the risks of diabetes and the measures that they must take to prevent Type 2 diabetes, which is a lifestyle related illness.
Epidemiological Rationale for Topic
Type 2 diabetes is a significant health issue that affects most populations globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 422 million people suffer from Type 2 Diabetes in the world. This represents a significant increase from the 108 million value recorded in 1980 (WHO, 2018). The United States also has an increasing prevalence trend similar to the global statistics. Type 2 Diabetes is one of the leading public health issues affecting the U.S. population. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 9.6% of the population, representing around 21 million people in the United States have Type 2 Diabetes. Almost 1.3 million adults are diagnosed with his health condition every year (American Diabetes Association, 2017). Diabetes is also a leading cause of mortality in the United States. Georgia, which is the community of focus for this teaching program also reflects the same trends when it comes to diabetes prevalence. It is estimated that 1 in every 10 adults in Georgia has diabetes. The rates of diabetes in this state have increased by at least 50% since 2000 (Georgia Department of Health, 2015). Therefore, there is a need for health promotion to help people prevent the development of Type 2 diabetes.

Directions: Develop an educational series proposal for your community using one of the following four topics:
1. Bioterrorism/Disaster
2. Environmental Issues
3. Primary Prevention/Health Promotion
4. Secondary Prevention/Screenings for a Vulnerable Population
Planning Before Teaching:
K. Paul Nurse Practitioner
Estimated Time Teaching Will Last: 2 hours
Location of Teaching: Classroom
Supplies, Material, Equipment Needed: Pamphlets, presentation
Estimated Cost: $20,000
Community and Target Aggregate: Teenagers in 9th to 12th grade

Provide one action and three strategies of how the DAP is/can be implemented.
Part II (this can be a continuation of the document created in Week 2 of the course)
According to
NAEYC Standard 5
, a program promotes the nutrition and health of children and protects children and staff from illness and injury. Children must be healthy and safe in order to learn and grow. Programs must be healthy and safe to support children’s healthy development. More specifically NAEYC outlines the following as “what to look for in a program” (see below). Create a document/table with at least one example of how the following guidelines are communicated:
Teaching staff have training in pediatric first aid.
Infants are placed on their backs to sleep.
The program has policies regarding regular hand washing and routinely cleans and sanitizes all surfaces in the facility.
There is a clear plan for responding to illness, including how to decide whether a child needs to go home and how families will be notified.
Snacks and meals are nutritious, and food is prepared and stored safely.
The Supporting Developmentally Appropriate Practices paper
Must be at least two double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the

Nursing Diagnosis: Imbalanced nutrition: more than body requirements related to deficient knowledge about nutritional needs, food intake, or food preparation.
Readiness for Learning: Identify the factors that would indicate the readiness to learn for the target aggregate. Include emotional and experiential readiness to learn.
· Voiced interest in improving nutritional habits
· Voiced concern over increasing weight in self or family members
· Psychological capacity to learn healthy nutrition habits
· Open and engaging body language
Learning Theory to Be Utilized: Explain how the theory will be applied.
The Behavior Learning Theory is the best approach to improve nutrition and healthy habits among children and families. With the behavioral approach, I will teach families how to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lifestyle. To accomplish this, I will create a pamphlet for families to take home with them that will include the information covered in my presentation. The pamphlet will also include a list of local resources that the family can use to continue their journey. During my presentation, I will teach families about the important food groups and how much of each should be including in each meal. My presentation will focus on healthier alternatives and ways to modify their current eating habits rather than restricting them from foods ...

Population Description
Ages : 9 Years
Grade Level: 4
English Proficiency Levels: Expanding
ESL program Model: ESL Class Period
Summary and Rationale
Health and Nutrition
Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach (CALLA) is the most appropriate theoretical ground for the unit since it has been based on cognitive theories that are infused into the lesson planning process to create learning strategies that in order to develop content that will increase the academic fluency of the ESL students.
This unit was chosen since health and nutrition is an everyday thing and students have to engage in activities that are related to health and nutrition everyday Further still, with the increasing cognitive abilities of the students, there is need to introduce them to the ideals of balance diets and the terminologies that are used in food and nutrition. Proficiency in health and nutrition as a unit increases the vocabulary base of the ESL students of the chosen age and also increases their prowess and language proficiency.
It is of interest to the teacher that the children learn different types of foods according to their diet categories and also increase their word power. The expectation is that since children at the chosen developmental stage are intrigued by different foods and snacks, teaching concepts and engaging them in ideas will be easy. The activities that are lined up in the teaching/learning process are engaging and fun and the students should have no problem internalizing ideas.
Students are also expected to understand the connections that are there between the physical activities, emotional wellbeing and their social wellness. They should also analyze the needs for the variety and moderation that is offered by a balanced diet.
Health and nutrition is an everyday thing the components of it go beyond the classroom setting to the world. Issues with personal health, fitness and diet have got lasting impressions in the life of a person and the set standards from whence a child is young are the ...

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
